Stanbrook Abbey Hotel, Worcester

Weirdly, an ultra modern bolt on access building greets you on arrival but all the original buildings hidden behind it are sympathetically restored: I dread to think of the cost of it all..,

Nice quiet place, well-preserved stuff from the original abbey when the nuns were here, friendly staff, great amenities (toilets and rooms in very good condition).

We came here to attend a wedding. It was a excellent setting for the celebration. The staff were all helpful, courteous, and competent. The buildings were historic and very well maintained.

The original building is beautiful, but the bar area (recent extension) is less so. The staff are warm and friendly; the restaurant staff were particularly good. The room is a little meh for the money - a poster referring to a bath when there isn't one, irritated, and the lack of a Nespresso machine surprised.

Dropped star as bar we needed to use with dog for breakfast was cold (both temperature and decor), and room service breakfast missed things both mornings we had that hand had stone cold toast both times (tip from other hotels = make sure some colour to the toast, cover in napkin, get it to room quickly. Other than that very happy. Dog gift bag bowls, and bed in room

A unique blend of modern and historic architecture. The hotel preserves the history beautifully. Guests can walk around and immerse themselves into life at Stanbrook Abbey during the 1800’s. Staff are welcoming and friendly. They dealt with queries professionally and ensured our stay was pleasant and comfortable.

The Abbey is stunning, the staff couldn’t have been nicer. The room called the Refectory was lovely. The Bar really lets the place down, it looks like an early 90’s conference area, completely out of keeping with the rest of the hotel. The room we had was disappointing, it was a Superior with Feature. It said it had living space, but it was a separate room with a bed in it and nothing else. The main room had way to much furniture in it, which left only the space round the bed. It was silly things that let it down, the dressing table was full of the tea and coffee. The chest of drawers had a nice mirror on it but it was too low to stand at and too high and no place for a chair to sit it. Then there was a table with small fridge on it taking up more space. You could hardly get the chair out at the dressing table as it had the bag stand behind it, but it you pushed that back you couldn’t get round the bed. The tv on the wall was squinty and fragile so we didn’t want to start to move it. The bed was really comfortable. It had a lovely large bathroom, but the shower should have been bigger. Overall for the £380 a night we paid it didn’t live up to that price.

We have been a few times to Stanbrook Abbey with our two dogs, the staff are amazing especially the bar staff. We always have an enjoyable and relaxing time and the dogs love it!

We were hoping for a quiet relaxing weekend from our busy working life and that's exactly what we got.You could here a pin drop at t night.....great for a get away from it all chill weekend.

booked table in restaurant ahead of visit - was informed not available upon arrival. had to eat in george’s bar which is decorated like a cheesy butlins bar from the 1980’s (no offence to butlins). menu choices limited. staff all great but were overwhelmed. room was way too hot, no aircon but instead a noisy wall fan. hot water was hotter than volcanic lava - caution sign was added above the tap, but why not actually reduce the temp so it can be used without filling the sink? A dressing gown was provided and had the last guests dirty tissue in the pocket- which was a lovely surprise when i put my hand in there :-/ …and after i had stopped gagging i had to re-scold my hand under the hot tap again. grounds and old part of the hotel are beautiful. shame about george’s bar which is so out of keeping with the building. all staff were trying hard and really helpful.

Stanbrook Abbey is a beautiful building, steeped in history, however the bedrooms are tired, not as clean as they should be and lack certain touches, so it does not feel like a high end establishment. I have found this in all ‘hand-picked’ hotels I have stayed in - lovely public areas but very lacking in bedrooms and they need attention to make them feel as special as the buildings they occupy.

We love to go to Stanbrook Abbey for a meal. However, we would not return for Christmas Day lunch as it was not good value for money nor would we stop again in an accessible room as it was not suitable for someone in a wheelchair. The staff are very friendly and the amenities are very clean. The food is wonderful and the quality is excellent. We did however have a problem at breakfast when The order placed was not received correctly. However, this was put right by the staff. We will definitely return for a meal but would not recommend the accessible rooms to anyone, which is a shame as it’s the only thing that lets the hotel down.

Avery nice location and a very nice old building with lots to see. The old Abbey has many features, the main hall for example with its architecture, a bell tower you can climb with panoramic views from the top. The bedroom was smaller than expected while the bathroom was bigger than needed, possibly due to load-bearing walls and the way it could be divided. Still, more space in the bedroom would have been nice.

This was easily the best place we’ve stayed all of our honeymoon! The staff were so sweet, room was beautiful and had an amazing view - breakfast was great and the bar was top notch as well! Definitely hope to make it out this way and stay here again

I cannot fault this hotel or the service we were given. It was exceptional. The hotel didn't appear to be too busy the evening that we stayed and we had a room upgrade.

We paid £230 per night in January for what was a disappointingly small room. Listed as a Classic Double at 5 x 4 metres plus bathroom, I dread to think how small the Classic Double (small) rooms were!

What an amazing and interesting hotel! They have managed to keep the features and history of the abbey, including the chapel, while creating a beautiful and comfortable hotel. And Meg, the staff at check in, was fabulous!

A really quirky luxury hotel , amazing service throughout from check in , the bar area, bar food and the breakfast staff . Stayed for a work trip and wished I had more time to discover this amazing property - so I’ve booked again for a personal trip !

The only thing that stopped us from giving 5 stars was the service in the restaurant for dinner. We had to ask on more than one occasion for our bread and wine, we had to wait 40 mins for our coffee. The waiters and waitresses were very nice but were overwhelmed by the number of diners. When we checked out the service charge had already been removed from our bill.

We had a wonderful visit only marred by problems of cleanliness in our room. The reception staff were brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us. They were friendly, helpful and when they said something would be done, it was. The food was excellent and service prompt but unobtrusive. Will definitely return.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely member of staff who took us straight to the reception and got us checked in and then took us straight to our room which they had given us a free upgrade which was out of this world about half hour later reception rang up the room to ensure that everything was good with the room we also booked for dinner which was out of this world I cannot recommend the hotel enough We will definitely be returning great work and excellent customer service

We loved the hotel, its location, its unique character and its super-friendly staff and management. Our room was spacious, clean, conveniently set out and very comfortable. The underfloor heating ensured a perfect temperature at all times. The bathroom was spacious and had everything we needed. The shower enclosure was a perfect size and the shower was easy to adjust and control. The breakfast menu offered a good range of choices. The full English breakfast was exceedingly generous and beautifully cooked. The dining room was very spacious, comfortable with a beautiful ambience. We were however, a little disappointed with the dinner menu. I very much enjoyed the steak noisettes which were tender and succulent, but my wife found the lamb challenging and well below the standard we were expecting. Many of the items on the dinner menu were a little unusual; not in itself a problem, but some more tempting items for main course other than steaks would have been welcome. I tried the stone bass and was not impressed - no comparison with good sea bass in my opinion. The sweet menu was good and my wife enjoyed trying the items. Beverages alcoholic and non-alcoholic were well up to standard. We enjoyed a very nice Shiraz - ( "Journeys End" ) - from Stellenbosch with our dinner. No review would be complete without mentioning the Hotel\'s history as an Abbey with resident nuns not too many years ago! The Abbey\'s buildings are there for all residents to see. So why not take a look!

An incredibly beautiful place, a pleasure to stay at and great staff. Very quiet, actually would have preferred it to be busier!

The hotel is stunning. The staff are wonderful and the whole hotel is a little bit of luxury. The breakfast was lovely with lots of choice and it is also freshly prepared. We loved how quiet it was- there was a NYE event the evening we stayed, but you couldn’t hear a thing from our room which was exactly what we wanted. We can’t wait to stay again and would love to visit again in the summer and next NYE!

Stayed here to visit RHS Malvern and decided this would be a nice treat. The property is amazing and all the staff that we met were excellent. We booked dinner in the Refectory restaurant for the two nights as it was an AA rosette recommendation. However the dining experience was not what we expected. Although the food presentation, quantity and quantity were fine our meals on both nights were far from hot and some of the vegetables were almost cold. Not wishing to wait for replacements we ate them and mentioned this to the waitress who promised to pass the feedback to the chef. Expecting breakfast to be prepared fresh in a hotel of this quality we were disappointed to find a rather tired looking buffet which looked and tasted as if it had been sat since the start of service. The toast and croissants however were very good. Sadly not the treat that we had hoped for.

Wonderful experience staying a Standbrook Abbey. Great to see around the historic features of the hotel. The room upgrade was massive with 4 poster bed and roll-top bath as well as a 2 person shower. Had afternoon tea as well as an evening meal and really enjoyed both. Will definitely return if in the area.
