A few things I wish would be improved at the Hacienda Del Sol include: 1. The room air conditioner. We stayed 4 nights in room #30. The air conditioner is quite loud. We had to turn it off at night to sleep. We opened one window for ventilation. Unfortunately, we then were woken up each morning at about 5:30 by the birds outside the room and staff rolling carts to supply the restaurant. Not a very restful stay. 2. Better staff support in the pool areas. Each time we went to the pools, there were no towels and although there was a water cooler, there were no glasses. Only one of the pools has a bar. Interestingly enough, during our stay, that pool was the busiest with children. The more relaxing pool did not have any bar service or any waiting staff. You could call for service, but that seems unusual. Might be better if someone could occasionally stop by to offer service. 3. The gym isn't up to standards. Although admittedly, most people staying here aren't looking for a great gym. Outside of the above, the Hacienda is very nice with beautiful grounds, friendly staff and a great location.

We appreciated all the amenities: Beautiful landscaping, different sized pools throughout, a fitness room, restaurants, a shop, spa, library, cozy hang out spaces, and clean rooms! The facility and staff were terrific. The pool needed a good cleaning, but with the temperatures and dust in the desert, it’s likely hard to maintain. We did a historical tour of the ranch with Blue and she did a wonderful job.

I stayed here for just one night on a road trip from Dallas to LA. It's a bit of a hike from the highway - perhaps 10 to 15 minutes. But it's well worth it - a really lovely small resort with three pools, spacious rooms, and self-parking located in a very upscale part of Tucson. Very good value for money too, at least during the summer. I look forward to returning for a longer stay sometime in the future.

Wow. What a wonderful stay. The location is beautiful with great views of the Catalina's. The rooms are historic, clean, with modern amenities. EVERYONE I interacted with from the check in to the wait staff to the jazz trio playing in the dining room was friendly and went out of their way to make sure I was happy. So many relaxing spaces including inner courtyards and three pool areas with spas. I look forward to coming back!!!

The property is beautifully maintained, pools and pool areas were clean. You could use a few more umbrellas for shade. I was a little disappointed that the pool bar was not opened. you were able to order drinks but it's just not the same. The staff was friendly and attentive. I just loved the overall look and feel of the resort. It left me feeling very calm and relaxed, which is just what you want on vacation.

Although the resort is gorgeous, our casita (no. 5) was a dump. It was dirty and run-down, and it smelled like sewage. There was thick dust on the front of the bathroom cabinet and debris on the side. The furniture, doors, and walls were beat up throughout the room. I booked a casita to enjoy the sunset on the patio, but the door to the patio was broken, and the patio chairs were situated next to a noisy outdoor fan surrounded by an ugly rusty enclosure. Unfortunately, we didn't notice these defects until after having an early Thanksgiving buffet (disappointing) and then using the heated pool, which was the best part of the stay. By the time we went to shower and change, we were too tired to ask to change rooms, especially because we were only there one night. When we checked out, we told the woman at the front desk about all of the shortcomings and complained it wasn't worth the roughly $400 price tag. She said there wasn't much she could do since we paid in advance but offered to take $20 off the previous night's bar bill -- what a slap in the face! My husband complained, so she also took off the $40 "resort fee." The staff here was pleasant and as helpful as they could be, but it's clear management gives them no agency to provide great customer service. I will never stay here again, and I posted on my Facebook page to let others know how horrible it was.

For $500/ night I am not pleased. No one helped with my bags. I could hear the restaurant through the walls. The a/c was so loud I had to turn it off! Thank god it is winter! The sink was cracked when I arrived and there was no soap at the sink. Just crazy!

Beautiful resort with large comfortable rooms. Ours had a patio with a nice view of the mountains . My only complaint was Sunday evening there was a wedding reception on the grounds and our room was very near the venue. The music played loudly until midnight. I didn't complain because I didn't want to disrupt a wedding, but feel that is a little late for music to be playing so loudly. Definitely kept me away till they stopped.

This is a great location and the set up is such that it is almost as if you are in your own little cabin. I was somewhat disappointed with my stay at Hacienda del Sol. The night I arrived, there was a Luau, which was incredibly noisy and I was unable to find parking due to the event. I would expect that guests of the hotel would be prioritized ahead of visitors not staying at the resort. The service at the restaurant was slow, particularly since there were few tables seated. The adults-only pool area was nice but there were not clear instructions on how to order food/drink so I had to text guest services and ask them to place the order. There was no staff in the area, which is usually the case at a resort with pool areas. Overall, my birthday staycation was underwhelming and I wouldn’t return for a special event. They did, however, leave a little card and box of snacks in my room, which I thought was a nice touch.

Cold food, apathetic staff. I went to a reception at this property and spent the night. At the reception, all the food was on canned heat burners which had long expired when it was time to eat. I asked the staff to bring some hot food and they brought more cold food. It is like they had no idea... So I decided to go to the restaurant bar and buy my own. Yes it arrived cold. $35 resort fee includes bottled water and internet in the room. There was no bottled water and internet did not work that evening. I told this to the associate upon checkout and got the standard poorly managed response- I will mention it to a manager. Like I am going to wait for somebody to find a manager on my way out. Zero empowerment where it matters. Just another bad guest I suppose...

This was our second stay at Hacienda Del Sol. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and well appointed. The staff are all extremely nice and accommodating. Nearby is beautiful Sabino canyon which is a great place to hike as well as restaurants and shopping. The next time we find ourselves in Tucson we will absolutely stay here again.

Beautiful property in the foothills a reasonably short drive from downtown Tucson & UofA. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. Only a view other than the driveway could have made it better. Good experience with breakfast at the restaurant and with a sunset night cap at the excellent bar. Several art pieces and a great variety of desert wildlife also make the hotel’s grounds home. Non-dining gratuities are included in the $35/day resort fee which is super helpful.

Extraordinary service at every level. Dining experience was phenomenal!!! The meals presented exhibited refined Southwest cooking which borrowed heavily from classic French cooking techniques. Consistently excellent. Gluten Free options were clearly marked, and well represented on the menu. Extensive wine collection with availability of some of the finest wines, by the glass (Caymus for instance). Highly recommend without reservation (but do make a reservation-they are busy).

What a beautiful property! I had heard about Hacienda Del Sol for years and I finally had the opportunity to stay over this past weekend. The setting is exquisite. We enjoyed the resort - the pools were most inviting and we loved walking around the resort area. Everything integrates so well into the desert setting and it feels quite cozy. Having read and heard so many wonderful things about the dining experience, we were looking forward to eating at the restaurant. We had Sunday brunch and ordered the huevos rancheros and Tucson omelette and both were nearly inedible. They were over-cooked, dry and tasteless. We asked for hot sauce to help the meals along and they offered us a thimble full of hot sauce saying that’s all they had. Super disappointing.

This was our first time staying at Hacienda del Sol. We had heard good things about it, but were still very pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed ourselves. This is a smaller resort than the other major resorts in the area (La Paloma, for example). Smaller is better, in our view. The historic area of the hotel and surrounding grounds are beautiful and full of charm, with little gardens, fountains, and other nice surprises around every turn. The newer rooms (where we stayed) are also beautiful and charming, while also providing a lot of space in the main area and bathrooms. We absolutely loved our room. And the three pool areas each have their own view and character (we tried each). And finally the bar and restaurant are excellent, with one of the best dinners we've had in years. That said, I was surprised by the reasonable costs for breakfast, dinner, and drinks, considering the outstanding quality and the wonderful setting. The staff are super friendly and seem to remember you after just one encounter, which is probably because of the relatively small size of this resort. I recommend Hacienda del Sol to anyone, but especially to people who want a more intimate, friendly, and old-school guest ranch vibe, rather than a mega-resort experience.

It’s actually taken me a while to write my review from July 4th-25–July 6th-25. I wanted to be fair as possible. There were good things about my stay & Bad things as well. I am from Tucson but had never stayed at this property. I had a guest with me, that flew in from Houston for the 4th weekend. We went to the Red White and Brew Party on the evening of the 4th. It was very disappointing & an extra charge. The food in my opinion was sub standard. I was definitely waiting on the Peach Cobbler, and to find out that when I got some there was no crust! It was literally like a can of peaches with syrup. The event pass was dropped in price from $110.00 per person to $85.00 per person for lack of interest. Everyone I met at the event were from Tucson and not even staying at the hotel. One thing I will say about the property, put on your walking shoes. The property says they have transportation for the property from your room to other parts of the property. In some cases that is the case, but I don’t walk long distances well. And the carts they have don’t fit on small walkways throughout the property. I did book through the resort/spa an appointment for my friend and myself for spa treatments. I was on a waitlist at 4:00pm Saturday, and my guest was booked at 11:30 am. So when he returned, he said he had paid for my massage in cash, I planned on using my own credit card. I had called an hour and a half earlier to cancel. I CAN’T FIT THE REST IN MY REVIEW GOT WORSE!
