The front desk person was friendly, kind, helpful and courteous. The first impression of the entrance and foyer was bleak, dirty, and smelly. The room was clean and comfortable. The walk around the marina was lovely.

Strange hotel with no one at the front desk. Just a message with codes sent out ahead. Rest of room was okay. Bathroom had two places with globs of hair, disgusting. Elevator worked.

Nice lication, easy to get to. Elevator appreciated. It loojs like they detached fire alarms, probably since no one on site to respond. No foid, but restaurant onsite. Would help if extended hours.

no staff in this property. They will send you a code to your room! The hotel is located inside the duus restaurant. It was hard to find as they were no indication where it was. So with that said, you have to enter the restaurant to get to your room upstairs. The room has a kettle and water. Comfortable bed and decent size room! It is next to the bay! A beautiful scenery at night.

Hard to know where to park, esp. at night. Spots not delineated and lot very dark. Room was on top floor under dormer so on one side of the room there was low head room. The shower leaked such that one person couldn't use the toilet as the same time as someone showering - you'd be soaked. Tiny sink was in the bedroom, not with other bathroom fixtures and almost no place for personal toiletries. Towels very small and no bath mat (would have been drenched, anyway). Only one wash cloth for 2 people. Duvets were skimpy and pillows were small compared to other similarly priced properties we stayed in the last 9 nights. But the worst thing is that when we arrived, the temperature in there was easily 85 degrees or more (F). The bathroom radiator was on full blast.

Booked this hotel because of proximity to airport however there is no shuttle to airport which is only few minutes away and the taxi ride costs $45. The comforter on the bed was dirty and the sheets had nad odor. Shower head was missing on handheld shower so its functioning like a hose. Do mot recommend staying here..

When I arrived late in the evening the room was freezing cold due to an open window. The room had no normal fix heating but only a mobile radiotor blocking access to the room. In general the room looked nothing like the pictures on the web page and didn’t even have a normal window due being in the cellar. Worst was the bathroom which was dirty, had black mold and the sink came off the wall. Being asthmatic I couldn’t even take a shower in the morning as the black mold is a health risk with the steam from the hot water. I tried to reach someone but couldn’t under the provided number as there‘s none at the reception. I then tried to write them by email but it took 2 days to get an answer to my initial mail and then only questions regarding when I‘ve stayed and contacted them and why I didn’t call. I‘ve stated in my initial mail that I‘m currently staying at the hotel with the information of the room number. After a bit of back and forth it stopped completely. After 14 days I‘ve sent another inquiry asking them if they don’t take this seriously to which I got the answer that my mail has been forwarded again and that they hope to get an answer ASAP and then radio silence again. I would strongly recommend to not book this hotel after that experience.

Our room had a lovely view of the marina. Hotel was handy for airport access. Room was a good size. Floors were not clean. Bathroom shower wasn’t all clean. Beds each only had one pillow. We had to sacrifice a towel to use as a bath mat and then could have used another towel. Not good value for the price, in my opinion.

For flights arriving in the early a.m. this is rather inconvenient… no staff at the registration desk, only 2 chairs to sit and wait, and the ‘storage closet’ where you could place luggage til check-in was not supervised. Our room had the bathroom on one level with 2 steps down to where the beds were… this might prove dangerous to someone with small children or adults with mobility problems. The bathroom had nowhere to place your clothes , except on the toilet seat while you showered. On the positive, the bed was very comfortable.

I had never done a place where it was self check in. Had trouble a couple of days before with the person on the phone. Please get someone who can understand what people are saying. The day we checked in the passcode did not work so i called the number and the woman who answered was very pleasant and corrected it easily. You may check your doors to ensure that the numbers all work. The gal had a simple solution. The room was nice and it was the first place in Iceland that provided things such as a toothbrush etc. Very nice.

Would recommend - to an enemy. Front door slammed shut all night, super loud. Could hear everything in every other room all night long. There is no reception and the property did not send information to access the room despite several attempts to contact them. Total disaster of a hotel.

The staff s not on site, very pleasant and responsive via messaging, but there is zero on-site staff. More of an Air BnB business model. They advertise airport shuttle, there is none. They advertise breakfast, there is none. My room felt like staying at a relatives house who begrudgingly tidied up a bit before I came. Perfectly fine for a layover stop, but I would not choose it for more than that.

Hotel Duus is a very nice and easy place to check into. All the check in details were sent prior to getting there so it was quick and easy to get into the room. The room was very spacious and perfect for our one night stay. The beds were quite comfortable.

We arrived about midnight. We had received directions on how to do a self service key lock. Unfortunately the key code for the reception entrance was so dark , we didn’t see it. When we finally found it, we were getting a “battery low” message. After a bit of panic, we pulled out the email from the hotel, and spoke with someone who was able to help us. After a bit of a rough start, everything in the room was good.

I take ownership of this… I didn’t realize this was a self check-in property. A door code was emailed the day prior. We got the code wrong the first few times as it was hard to see the numbers. We were not the only ones who struggled. Woke up in the middle of the night to hear our neighbors get locked out of their room. The location was excellent and the bed was comfortable. The window latch was broken. The shower unit was so tiny that the shower curtain inevitably touches you when you shower. Overall, not somewhere I’d want to stay again.

We needed a hotel for 1 evening and didn't want to stay at the airport. Hotel Duus was fairly close (10 minute taxi ride), located near a picturesque marina and had a restaurant on the premise. The room was clean, bed comfortable, the staff was very responsive and helpful with any inquiries. We had a delicious meal in the restaurant! The lobster bisque soup was outstanding! Not only did our server provide excellent dinner service, but she also arranged for our taxi pick up the next morning. I wish we would have had more time to explore Iceland. Next time!! We would definitely recommend Hotel Duus.

Great for a layover! Very easy self check in, they send you an email with room number and code. The code is on the door of the room (needs to be lightened up. Hard to find.) The room is very clean and comfortable, has everything you need for a short stay. The hotel is attached to a restaurant which is convenient. There are also a few other restaurants within walking distance. It’s in a very quiet little area, ocean views, and a museum with some shops nearby. The only problem I had was the lack of transportation options in this area. Go get there I had to take an overpriced cab from the airport. The hotel is not really walkable from the airport, but it’s a 9 min drive. Unfortunately it cost me $45 usd each way with local taxis!! No other public transport. It was difficult trying to find a taxi the morning of, took some time and still so overpriced. But that was the only option. I suggest the hotel should find a partnership with a local shuttle or taxi company.

We changed are plans at the last minute due to the bad weather and wanting to be closer to the airport. Duus hotel promised a restaurant but once we arrived found out it was closed over Christmas. It was self checkin, and when we arrived we seemed to be the only people there, which felt a little unsafe on a stormy night on the coast. As the storm progressed, we had snow coming through the skylight in our room. We called to mention this. When the owner came and looked at it, seemed like he didn't believe us as the snow had stopped (even though the floor was wet). Very surprised that we were not offered a different room at this point, there were plenty available.

The hotel is a 7 min drive away from the airport. It is right by the water (some really beautiful views of the ocean from my room). The bed was comfortable, there was a lot of glorious hot water in the shower, and the room itself was fairly spacious. I would stay here again.

A very convenient hotel stay after a delayed airline arrival in KEF. Very comfortable room, smaller bathroom and sink but totally functional, only issue was the very slow drain in the shower. Very quaint location with a great view of the working harbor from the restaurant (which has a pleasant breakfast and wonderful bread!!). Helpful staff as well,

Hotel Duus desk staff member was extremely friendly and accommodating. They let us into our room early. Included breakfast was very good and ample. On-site restaurant has a great view and wonderful food. We ordered the hamburgers and sweet potato fries. Convenient to KEF and a good value. Highly recommended.

Parking was adequate. Check in was 3pm but our room wasnt ready till 3.30pm. Restaurant was closed Monday nights(when we stayed) & there are no other food options nearby.

It was a good option for us, family of 3 / 2 night stay. Self check in and out, worked very good for us. Pretty big room, split-level type. We used it as a base to explore Reykjavik ( 1 full day). Very close ( 8 min by car) to the KEF airport, so very convenient for us ; we had to return our rental car early in the morning , before 6:00 am, and be in the airport after. The restaurant on the premises was nice, good food ( we had fish and lamb chops).

We enjoyed our stay here and the connected restaurant was really good. The staff was friendly and helpful when we missed the instructions to get in the building/our room. The bed was comfortable and we would stay here again.

The location was good with water views, shops and restaurants and public transport near by. Getting to Reykjavik without a car requires careful planning but can be done. Plenty of parking. Quiet location and the adjoining restaurant is excellent. The room is pretty basic and could certainly do with better maintenance (the bar fridge was broken, as were the windows locks) but it was comfortable. Check-in is easy and via a code. Reception is unmanned and the only staff I saw was the cleaner.

There isn't any staff to help, none that I noticed but I was aware of this while I booked. Got my code and easily got in my room. Fairly cute and very comfortable. The area has a walking path just outside of it that I briefly utilized. Was only here for one night so I can't really say much else in regards to the town. The walls however are paper thin. I hear this about other hotels but this one felt like our neighbors were in the room with us. Glad I didn't need to stay longer. Hence the one star removal. Had a restaurant attached which is very convenient but also didn't check it out.
