Excellent 10/10 and highly recommended. I have high expectation but this is still beyond that. Owner and staffs are warm, nice and helpful. The upstair balcony view is great, bring your cup of coffee up there and enjoy the Mt. Kunyayi view. Nice neighbourhood (historical battery point). The house is immaculate & have multiple seating areas. This is made me not leave early every morning. During stay, I loss my small towel. It might be the staff wrongly took it when cleaning up the room or another guest is wrongly took it. But it could be better if the staff have little bit extra effort to check it. Anyway this is a small thing compare to the excellent services that they provided. Kitchen utensils is provided and I love the Moccona coffee & chai tea in the pantry. Bath towel is also provided and even the throw blanket. Another one that surprise me is the staff make up my bed every day. Thank you for hosting me! I wish i can stay longer.

Stayed in a private double room, and couldn’t complain about a thing! Loved sitting outside on the balcony enjoy the sunshine/moonlight and chatting with other guests. Place was spotless, quiet, homey and in a perfect location (with private car parking!)

Gorgeous heritage building with beautiful views in a great historic location. Walking distance to everything including lovely cafes and restaurants. Great queen room with access to bathrooms and an awesome kitchen with facilities. We’ll definitely stay again.

Friendly vintage style bunkhouse, so convenient to walk to Salamanca, wharves or CBD. Clean comfortable dorms with own light and fan. Cleanliness lost a star because the shared kitchen often had rubbish bin full but most guests washed up after themselves. Even did recycling and composting. Plenty of Shared bathrooms, they just need a shower caddy over the hose to place soap & shampoo bottle. Great balcony with views to kunanyi/Mt Wellington. Definitely recommend staying here and you can meet plenty of travellers of all ages. Thanks Montacute manager!

I stayed here twice in different private rooms. The first one was very noisy, being on the stairwell. The 2nd was a lovely, clean, comfortable and quiet room (I emailed to ask for a quieter room). There are not enough toilets for the number of people staying there-only 4. The bathrooms all somehow leak and there is water all over the floors. One of the upstairs showers was very mouldy and skungey and the fan was filthy. All this would not matter for a backpackers (who pay less), but for those who pay $135-155 a night for a private room, a clean, available bathroom would be nice. The manager is creepy.

Beautiful and clean hostel to stay at. Pretty close to a lot of nice restaurants and cafes, in a calm and beautiful neighborhood. I’ve stayed in many hostel es before and this is the best without a doubt. Would recommend and will be staying here again whenever I have the opportunity. Important to notice: this is not a party hostel and it is more of a relaxed environment.

Delightful, spacious, clean (!!) rooms with comfortable beds and crisp sheets in a lovely building filled with character. A fantastic location in Battery Point, with pastries, coffee and parks a stone’s throw away 😍 and an easy walk down Kelly’s Steps to Salamanca, the wharf and into town.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this delightful boutique bunkhouse. Situated in the most perfect location, easy walk into the city center and a stunning view from my bedroom window. I will stay again next time I find myself in Hobart.

Owners were very friendly and kind, and the place was always clean and well maintained. Each bed has a curtain, which gives you a nice sense of privacy. It also gets quiet at night, so I could sleep comfortably and feel safe. Highly recommended!

Great location in a quiet and quaint neighborhood within easy walking distance of the center of town and shops, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. The large private room I stayed in was roomy and private. Old wooden floors creaked. Thank you for the stay!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this delightful boutique bunkhouse. Situated in the most perfect location, easy walk into the city center and a stunning view from my bedroom window. I will stay again next time I find myself in Hobart.

Friendly vintage style bunkhouse, so convenient to walk to Salamanca, wharves or CBD. Clean comfortable dorms with own light and fan. Cleanliness lost a star because the shared kitchen often had rubbish bin full but most guests washed up after themselves. Even did recycling and composting. Plenty of Shared bathrooms, they just need a shower caddy over the hose to place soap & shampoo bottle. Great balcony with views to kunanyi/Mt Wellington. Definitely recommend staying here and you can meet plenty of travellers of all ages. Thanks Montacute manager!

Excellent 10/10 and highly recommended. I have high expectation but this is still beyond that. Owner and staffs are warm, nice and helpful. The upstair balcony view is great, bring your cup of coffee up there and enjoy the Mt. Kunyayi view. Nice neighbourhood (historical battery point). The house is immaculate & have multiple seating areas. This is made me not leave early every morning. During stay, I loss my small towel. It might be the staff wrongly took it when cleaning up the room or another guest is wrongly took it. But it could be better if the staff have little bit extra effort to check it. Anyway this is a small thing compare to the excellent services that they provided. Kitchen utensils is provided and I love the Moccona coffee & chai tea in the pantry. Bath towel is also provided and even the throw blanket. Another one that surprise me is the staff make up my bed every day. Thank you for hosting me! I wish i can stay longer.

We loved our stay. There’s a great atmosphere at Montacute, so definitely stay if you want somewhere relaxing and quiet, but pleasantly buzzy in the kitchen during the evenings, with great conversation. Rooms are lovely, great views from upstairs, super value. We loved it, would return if we were ever in Hobart again.
