Great pub, great atmosphere and great staff. Will definitely be returning when I'm next in the area :-)

Could access the rooms easy with out going through the hotel

Bathroom had cobwebs around the toilet and the tiles look like they hadn’t been cleaned for a year . Breakfast was cold and tasteless (cheap products) It was laid out like a builders canteen with 4 pint milk bottles and loafs of bread still in the packets . The bar / restaurant area was cold in the evening and morning. Bed was comfortable however. I travel a lot and wouldn’t normally comment but felt the need . This place could be great if the effort was put in .

I had a very long and tiring day at work, which included a 3 hour meeting, so it was lovely to check in and relax at The Green Man, have stayed here before it is a lovely pub and had a very good comfortable nights sleep, our evening meal was lovely and so was the breakfast, will definitely be coming here again.

We stayed in one of the chalets, a little bit tired and in need of some tlc. The WiFi didn’t quite reach the room and the bathroom in need of some upgrading. The Green Man is quite isolated so we had our evening meal there - it was ok. The furniture is in need of a good clean with the banquet seating especially marked. The wine list varies in price from £20+ to £150 ! They would do better with a £14-£16 bottle of house wine. The breakfast was freshly cooked (we’re not fans of Smokey streaky bacon ) but other tables were offered white or brown bread etc - so found the consistency of service different but not sure why. Surely standard service for all? The floor of the restaurant still had food from the night before - indicating little to no cleaning had been done since the dinner/tea time service. When we arrived on the Sunday afternoon my husband ordered a pint of cider for me and a pint of Timothy Taylor for himself. His pint was “off” and did not clear like it should. He was offered a replacement of a similar beer (that wasn’t similar). He then purchased a second pint of Timothy Taylor - hoping the barrel had been changed & enough beer pulled through - unfortunately was nearly as bad as the original pint. With our evening meal- we ordered cider & beer due to the expensive nature of the wine. We described the “off” pint to the waiter/duty manager who explained it must have been the end of the barrel ………. The staff were friendly but attention to detail sadly lacking.

Lovely gem. Staff were really frimdly snd helpful. Food was freshly cooked and very nice. Breakfast cooked fresh. 10/10.

Reasonably priced accommodation with excellent food, comfortable bed and pleasant room. The room carpet was dog-eared with stains all over and the table in the dining room needed a proper clean as it was so sticky that some of my newspaper remained stuck to it!

Excellent one night stop over. Great welcome and lovely room. We ate at the Green Man too which was really good. Highly recommend !

Great service with friendly staff. They seemed to be short staffed as had to wait for bar staff to come back. The bar top was very sticky hence fruit flies. We have stayed many times and enjoy it here. The menu seems cut back somewhat and was so cold, no heating or fire. Did not sleep well 😕

Stayed here on several occasions,this time very disappointed. The room wasn't very clean, mould in bathroom, dirty windows and broke window latch, this was after being given a room we couldn't even get into!

I was very disappointed with the room. When you first walked in to the room it appeared cosy and quaint and well thought out. But on a closer inspection the cleanliness was very poor. Stains on the carpet, arm chair and dressing table seat. The sink had brown stains around the plug and the shower had the previous occupants shampoo down the wall or it could have been a cleaning product not cleaned away. There was also black mould and grime along the grout lines. I have taken pictures just in case the Green Man would like to address the issues. I did expect more from my stay.

A super place, lovely friendly staff, rooms are spotless, modern and crisp white bed linen. The breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. 100% will return.

The staff were very friendly on arrival but my room had no heating. When I asked to change room, they organised that straight away and I was located next door. However, the next door room also had no heating - I learned that they knew there were boiler problems on that floor so I eventually (1.5 hrs after arrival) was given another room upstairs. This was a lovely room, warm and clean ….. or so I thought. It appeared that the cleaner had sorted the bedroom out beautifully but had forgotten the bathroom!! Dirty mug in sink, loo not flushed, man’s underwear on the floor and lots of hair/dirt in the bath. Such a pity as I’m sure this was just an oversight - the staff were wonderful, the rooms are beautiful, the location is so handy to A1. Maybe just needs that wee bit extra on the quality control

Our rooms needed refreshing and the room definetly needed new head boards as they had some horrible head stains or grease on. Shower was ok but door didnt close properly, explains the mold on the skirting board needed mold spray. Breakfast was good Food finished at 8pm night before

The experience was a very mixed bag. The manager on duty was great. A real natural when it comes to hospitality, friendly and welcoming. The food was also good. The room however was I desperate need for refurbishment. The carpet was “Yikes! Don’t take off your shoes” dirty, and the fabric headboard of the bed made me feel nauseated with its greasy stains (we ended up covering it with a blanket. The mattress also needed replacing. Coffee stains on the walls completed a sorry picture. If the rooms were redone we would consider returning, otherwise no way.

Positives: The bed sheets, pillowcases & towels were clean. USB connectors on one side of bed. Negatives: Room was hot (no air con). It was very tatty - old rug/carpet frayed. Black mould in shower/bathroom area. A piece of artwork was a clothes pegs on a string?? But worst of all was the incredibly bad breakfast - disgusting doesn’t do it justice. Cheap & cold - cold eggs cold bacon cold sausage (I wouldn’t call it a sausage ) A chap - who was sitting outside - came in to replenish the ‘buffet’ and we immediately went to get new items but these were equally stone cold. The bread for toasting was left uncovered so flys regularly landed on it. A trough would have been more suitable for this food. We would not return even if we were paid!

Huge room with a big comfortable bed. The ensuite was also large and had a lovely large corner bath. Food was top notch both in the evening and breakfast. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful.

We had booked two rooms for one night for a family party. The staff are fantastic nothing was too much to ask Grace is sooo helpful and friendly. We had two superior rooms they are big and airy, we had everything we needed and more. The bed was comfy with lovely linen and extra pillows in the wardrobe. These are not the newly refurbished rooms but they are very nice and I thoroughly enjoyed my jacuzzi bath! We had lunch in the restaurant and the food was delicious with great service. Breakfast was scrumptious too!

A game of two halves, the welcome in the pub friendly and the pub is nice, very rural and comfortable with nice food and service staff happy and friendly. The room, a bit dated, my room door was open/unlocked on arrival and that’s because it couldn’t lock very easily had to really slam it to latch. I’m not paranoid with the lock this is a safe rural area but none the less. I noticed constant noises from the roof space (wasn’t sure what it was but sounded like wind or a water tank but the worst thing was a huge green fire door exit light in the actual room (these are normally located in corridors but this was in the room itself and once the lights were out it completely lit the room in a shade of green and very bright near the lamp. Made sleeping difficult at first, oh and the bed was hard. Maybe just needs a refresh because overall the location and pub is very nice.

Stayed in room 10, large room and large ensuite. The ensuite needs some love and attention, and is usable. The wifi in room was okay, as was the TV. Room was cold when I got there, so I turned on the radiator and then in the evening it was too warm!! There was a green emergency light over the door which stayed on all the time, so was distracting when trying to get to sleep, illuminated the room quite well. Included breakfast in the morning had a wide choice and after taking the order was served very quickly.

Lovely staff, very friendly. Room was very large with large bedroom. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic.. All cooked to order. My husband is a vegetarian and this was not a problem at all. Would recommend..Beautiful pub too

The service was outstanding, staff on duty during my stay were above and beyond nice. They made me feel like a regular with how friendly they were. The food was delicious both evening and breakfast. Check in and check out was easy. The room I had was not like any images on the website but the bed was comfy and it was as clean as they could make it (needs updating, black bits in corner of bath seal and carpet needs modernisation). For the price I paid it did me for the night and incredible price with the quality and variety of choice for breakfast. I had the eggs florentine. If I was staying for longer I would have requested one of the newer looking rooms.

Food was expensive but really poor quality. Maid banging on the door at 8.45 whilst I'm working. Then again at 10 demanding I leave despite my booking saying 10.30. Rude and ignorant maid service. Bar staff friendly but only one guy doing everything. Breakfast quality poor and small portion. E.g. beans portion in the same size pot you get sauce in at McDonald's streaky cheap tasteless bacon one slice of toast. Instant coffee you make yourself. Very disappointing. I'm UK based and stay out 3 nights a week. Whilst this is not the worst place I've stayed in, it's close.

We arrived late in the evening but had been told there would be a note on the front door telling us which room we were in in the courtyard rooms. There was no lighting outside and there was no note on the front door. We couldn't see a key in any room because it was so dark. We tried calling the number but no answer. We knocked on the doors of the main building as there were lights on upstairs, no answer. We ended up sleeping in the car overnight and when we went in to the pub in the morning we were made to feel it was our fault because the front door that overlooked the road is no longer the front door it is the side door and door around the corner is known as the front door! We found the more on that floor but it was actually in a post frame which we assumed was advertising events. After that the start was c ok. Rooms are rather tired and privacy in the rooms isn't as such because the room overlooked the car park at the same level and it would have been nice to have a net curtain so as not to have to shut out the daylight. The bathroom needs some attention as there was black mould around the window frame and it was shabby and cold no heating.

I really enjoyed my stay. The room was comfortable and quiet, the food was delicious and the staff were attentive and friendly.

Room was a little tired but as it was a budget hotel you have to expect this. Room was comfortable and fascilites we're good. Bar and restaurant were excellent as was the food and service. Waiting staff were very professional. On the downside kitchen had to be closed on Friday morning due to maintenance issue so no breakfast. Note on door told me that refund would be made but have heard nothing after emailing them for refund.

We were made very welcome. It was very close to Shuttlesworth where we were displaying veteran bicycles with the V-CC.

Very welcoming & couldn’t do enough to help. It’s in a beautiful place & really well set up for easy access to local amenities & Bedford. Cute restaurant, lovely dining area and quaint rooms.

we come up for the Shuttleworth Collection airshows and have stayed at various hotels in the area. First time at The Green Man' we found all the staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful, the room was clean and tastefully decorated. Evening meal and breakfast was very tasty with good sized portions. One of the best places we have stayed in a long time and have already booked again for our next visit to the area. A big thankyou to all the team at The Green Man for making our stay so pleasant.

This was in a lovely rural setting, ideal if you want a peaceful getaway.
