Nice hotel, not much parking but plenty free parking on the road. Room a little cramped but clean and very comfortable

Great location for exploring Aldeburgh and the Suffolk coast. Very pleasant bar and restaurant areas. The Sea Spice Indian restaurant was particularly enjoyable. It’s an old building so there’s lots of stairs and at the time of writing the lift is out of service. The bedroom we occupied was small and comfortable for a short break, but the bathroom was a little dated. However, overall we felt it was good value and we would be happy to stay here again in the future.

Another lovely stay at the hotel, it’s dog friendly and in a great beachfront location. Perfect for walks and getting to local pubs and restaurants. Fabulous breakfast as well!

Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and breakfast of high quality and all served to your table freshly prepared on order (no buffet a bonus). Hotel is ideally located in walking distance of everything in Aldeburgh and right on the seafront. Only negative is that parking outside can sometimes be difficult during busy periods.

Excellent choices for drinks & supper.

Room fine a really nice big comfortable bed and pillows. Nice touch to have a bottle of still water in the room. The bathroom was okay, good shower but decor a bit worn Breakfast very good with a nice selection and quality product and service. Parking very limited though.

Nice bedroom overlooking sea. Comfortable beds and furniture. Hostess tray well supplied. Good bathroom for an old hotel. Staff very helpful and breakfast was excellent. Lift out of order which was a problem as my husband has mobility issues but staff moved luggage for us.

Beautiful location facing the sea, ideal for wind-blown walks along the coast. Decor is a little faded and parking was a bit of a pickle, but service was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent and the adjacent Indian restaurant wonderful, as was the beer in the bar!

We had a lovely stay, the staff were excellent, the food in the restaurant was exceptional(both dinner and breakfast), the hotel was very clean. The room was good and comfy.

Hotel was lovely, friendly staff. The was food was lovely and there was plenty of it. Great location on the beach. The only downside to the hotel was the bathrooms need updating. Shower is over a high bath. The water pressure was terrible, the shower was old. Mould round shower glass.

Fantastic seafront location, the hotel is a slight maze of stairs and corridors, but there is a lift. Our room was a good size, comfortable, quiet and very clean. Good restaurant and bar with friendly staff. We will return.

Check in was very good and organised. Room was generally good. Bathroom was clean and bed was comfortable. The only disappointment was the sea views wasn’t brilliant as the windows were dirty on the outside, and the exterior generally looked uncared for. Breakfast was very good.

A very nice hotel with pleasant dining and lounge areas in a super position directly opposite the beach and Moot Hall. Friendly staff and very clean. Great breakfast, including lovely kippers!

We arrived at the hotel early to be told we couldn’t check-in until 3 pm We were staying for my husband’s 50th, but despite empty rooms, the hotel were not willing to accommodate a better room The happy hour is unclear and confusing as all different drinks are different prices during this hour and there’s no simple happy hour menu We woke up in the morning to find we were both completely covered in bed bug bites. I rang to complain the following day and have still not received a phone call in return 48 hours later. The person I spoke to on the phone, detailing our complaint just responded “uh - huh” with no apology as yet On checkout we were asked to specify exactly the time that we wanted to eat breakfast and had we have been staying tonight would’ve had to keep the same time for the duration of your stay. This was despite being on holiday and not wanting to be scheduled to the clock. Having said that, breakfast was the best part excellent food and service Overall disappointing and unclean, and the level of customer service has been shocking would never stay again

We had a nice stay , the hotel is in a great location but is very tired on the outside, it is an old property and seaside hotels can be a bit weather beaten, we did ask to be moved to a seaside view but moved back to our original room as the new room with a view had a lot of damp in it and not as nicely decorated so not worth the extra £60 a night they wanted to charge us!! Also bear in mind that the seagulls are very noisy especially at 5 30am when the fishing boats come in to the beach outside the hotel

Great location and the sea view room we had was lovely with high ceiling and huge windows. The room-darkening curtains kept us cool in spite of the heatwave and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and even our dog was made to feel welcome in the dining room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back soon.

Staff were very helpful. The property definitely needs painting on the outside. Inside was ok.

The room was quite warm and the door was sticking on opening and couldn’t be closed without slamming. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.

I booked 2 rooms for single occupancy, for myself and a friend. I was aware that these expensive rooms were not sea facing, however they were both very disappointing, especially mine which had a tiny bathroom with no natural light. The rooms were VERY basic, with only one ceiling spotlight and 2 bedside wall lights. I had to request a separate table lamp, however there was nowhere to plug it in! There were only 2 sockets in the room, one with the tv plugged in. The receptionist found an additional one under the desk/table, but half covered by furniture and totally inaccessible for me. The TV was positioned on the only useable flat surface in the room. and was small, old and totally inappropriate for the cost of the room. My friend's tv was at least mounted on the wall. Both rooms were totally dated and although scrupulously clean, they were not a comfortable environment to spend any time in. I have a slight mobility problem, so contacted the Hotel prior to our visit and was told that there was a lift and a few steps to navigate, which seemed acceptable. However, their 'new' lift system is laboriously slow and complicated and I then had to negotiate steps up and down, to access our rooms. It was a 'marathon' every time we went up to our rooms and then down again. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Overall, this hotel is overpriced and although the communal areas have been given a facelift, the rooms need rewiring and updating. A lick of paint has not been sufficient.

Nice room, very clean but on the smaller end on size of room. Early morning noise of beer barrels being delivered or returned was a nuisance. Didn’t eat evening meals here as vegetarian options on the menu we saw were minimal. Overall, I would recommend but select a sea view rather than the town view.

Excellent location, hotel has friendly attentive staff. The building is a little tired but the character very much suits Aldeburgh. Sache windows rattle a bit and make for difficult ventilation. Hotel room probably too warm for our comfort. Room and en suite were clean and equipped with everything we needed.

The room looked out on to scaffolding which we were not happy about, also the TV kept loosing the signal, I went down to ask if there was another room and straight away I was found the choice of two other rooms which were more to our liking, The staff in the bar and restaurant were really friendly and very good at their jobs, over all we had a very nice stay.

Room comfortable and well furnished. Didn’t like the rather heavy duvet - like trying to sleep under a rug. Good cooked breakfast: hard-working staff run off their feet so waiting inevitable. They were helpful and welcoming.

The stairs to 2nd floor rooms are a bit confusing but other than that all was good Excellent breakfast served a very nice and capable young lady called Amy. Jack who booked us in was also very professional

It was a shame that our stay was tempered by staff shortages. Otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The clientele occupy the upper age group which moaning and complaining are almost mandatory, ignore them.

A very welcoming reception that continued throughout our stay. Apologies were given for the ongoing improvements, although these weren't necessary as we weren't inconvenienced. We will definitely be looking to return in the future. For me definitely the most polite and courteous place I have ever visited or stayed at.

Overall a great stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfasts. Hotel is a little tired, but rooms clean and bed comfortable. Location perfect for Aldeburgh town and beachfront. Parking is free at the hotel or on the roads outside.

Second stay at this hotel. Staff were all very nice. Public areas of the hotel were really nice but thought the room looked a little tired. Nice bar and the Brasserie looked nice although we didn’t have dinner there. The breakfast though was good. Right on the sea front, pubs nearby, short walk to the high street with some nice shops, cafes and eateries.

The White Lion is in a perfect spot on the seafront in Aldeburgh, within walking distance of the high street and shops/restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was hot and plentiful, with a wide and varied selection. We look forward to visiting again.

Lovely hotel on the seafront and close to all of Aldeburgh's attractions. Would also recommend the Indian restaurant in the hotel which was delicious. The room was clean and spacious but very hot, even with windows open all day. The hotel itself has a lot of stairs and the lift was not working so do let them know if you need an accessible room. Overall would definitely stay again.

The WiFi is slow, probably the area, Breakfast is very good with plenty of options but could do with being hotter. Dinner options are limited but plenty of other places to eat.

This hotel charges Londons west end prices but does not give the service you would expect. They may have non complaining customers due to is location and uppper class aging clinentel. The hotel boasts an In house Indian restaurant. On my first night i orderd a meal and i can honestly say it was the worst i have ever had and the most expensive. Most was from a packet, the chicken had been water induced, the sauce was week. The whole meal was non authentic. I hate complaining but when i did to the manager all i got was the responce ' But the chef is from Kathmandu?.no apology was offered , he was in fact aghast that i had compalined and said he would get back to me, which he did not. When i checked out the following day i was met with the same poor eccuse from the duty manager she also said i will get back to you. 24 hours on and no responce .Overall lack of responce from the managers is appaling, as is the food and the hygine. Eg smears on cutlery and glasses. I therefore do not recommend this hotel unless you are ok with sky high charges, poor hygine, and bad managment. I was at one stage expecting Basil Faulty to make an appearance. I would imagine now i am posting this they will respond. Lets see.
