A truly lovely hotel. Nestled on the side of a stunning loch the lodge is in an awe inspiring location. However, the whole stay was an experience. The owner has clearly spent a lot of money on ensuring that this property is modern with a traditional, yet contemporary feel. From the moment we arrived the staff were a stand out and all deserve a thank you. You can have a beautiful building and location but without the right people it means little. We ate in the restaurant and the clever mix of Indian inspired dishes on one part is woven together extremely well with the more expected Scottish dishes. Breakfast is a very good buffet with plentiful choice. They also have a small spa with many treatments so make sure you book ahead.

The staff were really lovely and made the whole experience enjoyable. Rooms were clean, beautiful view of the mountains from the window. Good selection at breakfast The spa isn't included in the stay and also needs a reservation beforehand. Dinner and breakfast also need a reservation

This was the first time that I visited Whispering Pine Lodge. The stay was good. What struck me though was that I only paid about £250 thereabout for the night (which is the discounted rate) and that under normal circumstances one would have to pay in excess of £650 a night. I believe that the owners are Indian and own hotels in India and with that in mind, to stay at Umaid Bhawan is about £400/night the last time I checked and Whispering Pine lodge is not even on that level. The hotel was clean, and the food was good and of good quality. The staff were very well mannered and courteous. Its a beautiful setting and although the outside of the hotel is in need of restoration the inside was pleasing. The decor needs updating to relfect the price of the what people are going to pay, like the odd rug or runner in the corridor or room that looks like something out of ASDA or B&Q. I would think that if one is paying in excess of £600 a night they would closer on par to what is being offered at the Fife Arms in Braemar. Nonetheless it was pleasant. Not a place to return to but pleasant
