There was NO AC in the lobby, the breakfast area, the Whale lounge, the elevators or any other common area. The management knew. The Hotel Manager was Not on site 2 days and the local on site managed refused to talk to us. Lobby staff had hand held fans for themselves. For the amount we paid - this was Horrible. The did not answer the phone when calling reception many times. Our suite lights and bathroom lights were dark and the reception said that the could not help as no engineer was on site. - OH MY GOD.... Half my stay should be refunded -- DO NOT SEND anyone there. THIS WAS THE highest costing room on the island and we we celebrating a special Birth Day !!!!!!!!!!!!

Very friendly, great pool area overlooking the Atlantic, great spa and good gym facilities. Breakfast is superb with all sorts of eggs, baked goods, fruits and coffee. Staff really goes all out for guests.

This is a beautiful hotel in downtown Ponta Delgada with easy access for walking the shops and marina. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The family room is particularly wonderful for bigger groups.

Was on our honey moon and had multiple occasions of house keeping entering room with only one knock or no knocking on our door at all while we were sleeping. Removed our DND one night from our door knob and walked in next morning without knocking. Woke us up at 8:30AM with vacuuming and room cleaning. Very disappointed as this was part of our honey moon and is supposedly a 5 star hotel.

After our experience 3 yrs ago for a family wedding, there were a few disappointing issues that we reported. On our return, i found the valet service exceptional, bell staff pleasant, 1 front desk clerk miserable but others cracked a smile. Check in was quick and easy. Room was very clean and amenities on point. Breakfast was well stocked and service 3/5. Dinner was incredible but hostes was simply miserable and felt as if we were intruding. Lack of menus so only had 1 to share. She approached 5 mins later with what do you want. Asked for a few more mins. Another lady, Angelica approached, smiling and set a nice tone. Told us they had specials and thankful as the offered duck rice and a spectacular fish. 2 other waiter/waitress also approached, all pleasant. Food was incredible. Desert, the chocolate cigar, best desert in my 57 yrs anywhere in the world. 4.8 out of 5 due to the hostess. Rooftop bar is beautiful yet still lacks a lot of proper service. For a 5 star hotel, best a 3 star. How does a Portuguese 5 star hotel not have the Port on their menu? Ripped chairs in rooftop unexpectable after paying $900 a night and again, 5 star hotel. Would add pictures of the food, room, incredible view but won't let me.

Gorgeous hotel! Very clean! And in the midst of all of the action by the marina! Staff went above and beyond to make you feel at home. We were welcomed by a staff member who provided us with warm towels while we waited to check in. Rooms very clean and spacious! Will be back again when visiting são Miguel! Breakfast included was so worth it! SO much fresh and delicious options to choose from. We also dined at A Terra at night and had delicious meals. Highly recommend this gem of a spot!

We stayed in four hotels during our vacation and this was our favorite. Staff was great, beds were comfortable, and breakfast was amazing. Turndown service was nice with cookies, water bottles and slippers set out for us. The only weird thing is the all black tiled bathrooms. We felt like we were in a cave with really poor lighting.

The Octant is a nice hotel, the rooms are lovely. The balcony of the room is very comfortable with a view of the marina. The rooftop bar is a big plus! There is a pool and bar service. The valet is very fast to get your car when called, and they have a pillow menu which is fantastic! Turn-down service at night brings a cookie for each guest. The breakfast buffet is great with a wide variety and an omelet station. The negatives: the air-conditioning took about 24-hours to cool the room, the bathroom area looks beautiful, and seems at first to be a great idea, but it isn't quite as functional as it could be. I know this sounds vague, but you would have to experience it to fully understand. We stayed at a nearby hotel that we preferred (except that there isn't a rooftop there). We just didn't think the value was there.

This hotel was one of the nicest I’ve ever stayed in and was just what I needed. I stayed in a suite and was on the top floor. The views were wonderful from the living area and also the bedroom. Opening the curtains in the morning and seeing the water was breathtaking. I loved the yoga mat and exercise equipment in the room which I used and appreciated the inclusion of the minibar that was replenished daily. The bathroom was huge with well stocked amenities, the only thing I’d say is there are no hooks apart from in the toilet, so when having a shower there’s nowhere you can hang a towel to easily grab it after. Breakfast was ok, good selection of hot and cold options. I also had dinner at the restaurant one night and a drink in the rooftop bar, both were quite average. The staff at the hotel were wonderful, the person who checked me in and out was so helpful and through having passing conversations with the staff they suggested activities for me to do around the town, which I loved. The porter from Brazil was also very helpful and friendly. Every member of staff I interacted with was a shining example of attentive but not overbearing service. Thanks for a memorable experience!

Fantastic Hotel on the harbour, gorgeous views, very comfortable rooms with a pillow menu to ensure you are even more comfortable! Amazing breakfast, best one we had in the Azores. Rooms are very luxurious, the only thing I would say is that the bathroom can be confusing as the doors are all reflective like a mirror. The bar was a little slow service but lovely spot up there. I can’t say enough about how helpful and lovely the staff at the hotel was. The service was fantastic and everything was easy. I very highly recommend this hotel. We also used their valet parking option as we were visiting in Punta Delgada and parking was difficult for us. It was quite inexpensive to use that option.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. The staff went above and beyond. We got there around 8am and check in wasn’t until about 3p.m and we were and the receptionist accommodated us to an early check in, that our room was ready. The hotel staff were very accommodating and outstanding! The food was delicious and housekeeping maintaining top standards. Location was convenient and perfect for exploring, and near all. I can’t recommend Octant Hotel enough . I will certainly be returning on my next visit !

I was initially unsure about the hotel location (in front of the marina, with a casino adjacent to it) based on pictures alone. However, I must say that the hotel was great, location was excellent, it has an amazing rooftop bar and houses one of the best restaurant in the entire island. Truly great.

This was a great location near the main area of Ponta Delgada with a great view of the harbour. The valet was pretty quick for retrieving our car. Breakfast was terrific with a great selection.

Beautiful hotel right on the bay. Also on a busy road but there was very little noise. I wanted for nothing but also paid for it. If you are open to the cost, it is a beautiful facility. I’m not sure it was worth the price but I would stay again and highly recommend. Peaceful.

It was a nice property but a little far from the City Gates, you had to walk past a large construction site and it was a narrow walkway. The breakfast was good however, it never varied - everything was the same each and every day. I felt like the servers only were gracious when they received a tip.

Exceptional staff who are all very attentive and helpful. Very beautiful hotel with numerous amenities for a posh stay. Breakfast buffet was superb with a wide variety of choices, all done very well. Location close enough to walk to downtown Ponta Delgada yet just far enough away to feel apart. Recommend the ocean view!

I stay at a lot of hotels and I have to say that I was incredibly impressed by this property. Everything from the check-in to the concierge to all the little touches were spot on and when I return to Ponta Delgada I will definitely stay here again. The only thing I can think of which wasn't perfect was the food we had in the bar, which was pretty average but again the service and the setting made up for it.
