Hotel at the Waldorf

This is a fine, inexpensive stay. Very noisy on the weekends - there was a wing that didn't seem to be over the nightclub, a person could probably ask for that preference. Staff was very kind and accommodating. Might be a little edgy for some, but near lovely restaurants, a grocery store, and a park a nice walk away.

Ultra safe. Hotel is clean, staff very pleasant and helpful. Tikki bar appears closed, and brewery menu very limited, closes at 9. Parking limited. Now we used drive service to get to downtown, great price. You may be turned off by the location. We planned on being downtown, so it worked for us. Waldorf had great safety precautions.

All of the rooms are located over top of an incredibly loud nightclub, which runs until 2:00 AM. No escaping it, like being tortured by sleep deprivation. Not so much a hotel, more like a group of rooms for people who partied all night to hook up in. No food service available in the morning until 11:00 am?? Located right on the edge of the cities' roughest area, which spills over. Was originally booked in for 4 days, checked out after the first

Drug use and homelessness so prevalent the main lobby doors are always locked and you need a key to enter even during the day. Noise from the street (traffic, people) is so loud it sounds like I'm standing on the sidewalk. Staff was very friendly and room was ready before check-in time. No evidence of bugs of any kind. Price was one of lowest in area but very high considering the facilities conditions. No elevator, which was fine for us but could be very difficult for others.

Reception was great with a friendly staff, great bar with good food and friendly staff. Rooms have only single pane windows so you hear a lot of noise, but they do offer ear protection.

Hotel Waldorf was nice hotel little load lots of charm to it. Major issue we had was there is no elevator so we had to haul all luggage up to the second floor room room condition was good for an older hotel had old amenities we needed. There’s a restaurant/nightclub blow which was loud late at night, but not too bad front desk. Staff was very helpful. We ate lunch in the restaurant and that was good. The hotels located right on the main bus line so we took the bus from the train stop over there to the hotel.

Of the three advertised bars/restaurants 2 were not open and one closed at 9:30

Do not stay here! This hotel is attached to a bar and loud music was heard and felt in our room until 2 am. We got no sleep. Free parking but it’s behind the hotel and kind of shady. The hotel staff member was nice. Do not stay here unless you do not value sleep and rest.

Got bed bugs in just 1 night

The staff were EXCELLENT; very kind and accomodating. However, my room was filthy (dead bugs on wall, stains on wall, stains on laundry including a yellow stain on the bedsheet) and I was not switched to a cleaned room after pointing the bedsheets out, the sheets were simply changed while I stood there (so I'm not comfortable with the mattress cleanliness, I didn't mind about staying in the room I paid for). The area is in Gadtown, which is widely regarded as unsafe and does include a locked door because of this. Again, not to the fault of the hotel, but I was not comfortable walking in the evening and for the price I paid that was a lot.

The rooms themselves were decent, but there was a mouse in our first room. We were moved to another room which was fine, but it only had 1 bed and the window was poorly insulated so a lot of the street noise outside was audible.

Our room was not ready for us. They gave us a room that was not cleaned. The whole building was dirty. The toilet did not flush properly. The carpet smelled bad.

Generally lousy experience. The room was tiny and very dated. Felt like the furniture hadn’t been changed since 1952. Not enough power outlets to charge our tech and no USB ports at all, which would have been fine if there were plugs. The carpet felt filthy although the room overall seemed clean enough, just old. No bathmat in the bathroom and we didn’t even use the shower because there was mold on the caulking. The volume on the tiny tv didn’t work. But the worst part was the noise from the downstairs nightclub. We were alerted by the hotel ahead of time that they hosted events but the noise level was simply inhumane. Our entire room shook from the base until 2-3 am. And the hotel isn’t accessible. No elevator and quite a few stairs so if you have mobility issues do not stay here. Would definitely not recommend this hotel. (The staff were nice but that’s the only good thing to be said really.)

Room not very clean. Accidentally dropped my contact case on the bathroom floor, when I picked it up it was completely COVERED in dust and dirt and nastiness as if bathroom floors haven't been vacuumed or mopped ever. Staff wasn't very helpful, gave us incorrect information about a "free" hop on/hop off bus to get around attractions downtown, when we got to the station and got on bus it was in fact not free at all. Tickets were over $70 and bus driver/tour guide basically called us stupid for thinking it was free like hotel and cab driver told us. Lots and lots of homeless people all drugged out living on the street hotel is located on. No elevator, just stairs. No help offered to get our luggage up to room. Would not stay at this hotel again.

The room was clean, very well kept all the way around. Every staff was very nice, switched us rooms when needed. Helped us in every way possible until check in.

Comfortable mattress, crisp clean sheets, spotless bathroom, plenty of hot water, good location for us. $13 taxi ride from the train station. Friendly helpful staff. Annoyingly audible traffic noise starting at 6 am, but maybe a room on the other side would be better. Sink faucet not properly seated, furnishings a bit shabby, no elevator.

For the price the hotel would be good, if my room had A/C, it was not shared with me that some rooms do not have A/C it was extremely hot day and room was unbelievably hot, late in the evening when it had cooled down outside I was able to open the window, but it was an extremely noisy street!

The hotel was very well located, it\'s only a 10/15min bus ride to downtown which was perfect for our visits. That being said, the area is a little sketchy looking and happens to be a street well known for its high community of homelessness and people on heavy drugs.. It can feel a little unsafe to some, to walk around at nighttime but we felt ok with this as the corner of street where the hotel is located, was ok compared to a couple blocks down. Plus, the bus stops are right in front of the hotel, so you barely have to walk anything. About the rooms, it\'s very small and humble. Looked decent though, but could be improved on the overall cleanliness (bed frames, on top furnitures, bathroom..) It wasn\'t spotless and lots of dust and things that could\'ve used a more thorough clean up. The smell of the room felt a little off too.. Other than this the bed was pretty comfy and just enough to "just sleep in". Things that could be improved in the rooms would be : - add little dressers, or a furniture with storage cause there\'s only a small closet with a few hangers. - add some kind of hooks in the bathroom, to hang our towels/clothes. - add a multi plug or something behind the bed cause there was only one plug by the right side of the bed and none on the other side. The rooms visibly don\'t cleaned while you\'re still checked in, despite putting the tag asking for maid service... The reception staff was really sweet to us and helpful when checking in/ checking out.

Staff and service were excellent, and the price was great. Bed was comfortable and I liked that there was a fan already in the room. Cheap Uber rides into downtown, so the location was actually very convenient. Seems like there are some fun events happening on the property (drag shows, etc). Felt very safe while I was there. Unfortunately, the walls are very thin, and it's easy to hear people in the hallway. I could hear my neighbour talking and snoring on the other side of the wall. I had to move to another room so I could sleep the second night. Both rooms had significant traffic noise from outside. The bath/shower in the second room didn't drain properly, and both showers had hot water issues. If you're a light sleeper or picky about amenities, I would avoid. Great if you need a cheap place to say and want to have an adventure! 👍

We had a reservation for two nights and left after one, despite not being able to get a refund. The staff were friendly and helpful but that was the only positive about this establishment, unfortunately. Our room was cramped and stuffy, the bed uncomfortable, air conditioning was very noisy, the window was not secure and the bathroom door was difficult to open/close. The photos on the booking websites do not reflect the actual conditions. Despite assurances we did not feel safe or comfortable in the neighbourhood.

i showed up with swollen, red eyes. i cried like a baby at the front desk after a very, very bad night. my credit card didn't have enough on it to pay for the deposit, which caused me to cry like a baby because i just didnt know what to do. the concierge got me a cold glass of water and said "please dont worry- we are going to figure it out." he made an exception and got me a room with a debit deposit of double the amount. i do NOT RECOMMEND making their lives harder by not having a credit card, but what was a very scary and upsetting time was made better by a mans kindness and good heart. thank you.

Our stay was fine, the bed was clean and the room was good enough, but for the price we paid I would’ve expected a little more from the hotel. My poor boyfriend had to carry my heavy suitcase up then down two flights of stairs to get to our room as there was no elevator. I was a bit scared to walk to and from our car and the hotel depending on who was outside at any given time, but I did appreciate that the front door required a key fob for entry, so there was no street access to the building. I slept through it but my partner said that there was loud music and bass, police sirens, and people screaming outside late into the night. The bathroom was okay too, but there was visible mildew on a lot of the grout in the shower that made me want to keep my flip flops on. We received a little heads up in the welcome message from the hotel about the people a few blocks down experiencing homelessness, which was also appreciated. We don’t have any children with us, but if we did I think that travel between the hotel and downtown (even in a car) would’ve been more stressful as there are many people out and about and many things happening on the sidewalk. If necessary, I would stay here again, but I’d know what level of safety and cleanliness to expect. For the most part, the more negative aspects of the experience were outside of the control of the hotel. Except for the fact that they had closed the hotel parking lot and we had to park a decent walk away from the hotel.

A big shout out to Mia. She was so helpful and simply an amazing manager. The staff was awesome too.We never expected such hospitality and and excellent service. The rooms are great too. The only thing is there is no elevator but it's just one floor and she will help you with bags to the room if requested. Awesome. But truly she went above and beyond. We really booked this hotel due to the convenience to the port as we were going on a cruise. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel is like a 2 star but the service is 5 star. Thank you to Mia and the wonderful staff. Hope to see you again soon...!

Room was fine. The man (victor?)(fri night at check in) was delightful and very helpful and the lady sat morning was very helpful also. Recommend both of them

Staff was very helpful if you’re looking for an inexpensive room away from downtown in a nice little neighborhood it’s for you. Our room on the street so there was some traffic noise. we were able to walk to Gastown, but we took a $20 cab to Yaletown. lots of shopping and restaurants on commercial Street.

This is an older hotel that is trying hard. The room is older wood furniture that is fairly tight. You use a key to open the door. The room was clean. The location looks very industrial with port-type equipment behind the hotel. There are not many shops or activities in the area. Between the hotel and downtown there is a large population of unhoused people. However, regular buses run along the street, so it is easy to get downtown from the location.

The location was great in terms of accessibilty to DT and the price was very fair.

Good price, friendly staff, an old hotel but well maintained. I walked the 1.7 miles from downtown along Hasting Street. I would not recommend this unless you are trying to score drugs or view the homeless. There is a bus that runs along Hasting Street so you can bypass this mess. Nearby Commercial Street is lively for food and shops.

This is a great little hotel if you are just looking to sleep and occasionally relax. It is by no means a luxury hotel, but it is conveniently located close to The Drive and is clean and comfy. Staff are lovely, attached pub is good, free parking is close and while there are people around who you may feel are sketchy, it is safe and not different from a lot of busy areas in major cities. I will stay again.

The Waldorf is full of character! If you want a dull and boring run-of-the-mill hotel chain, then this is not for you. But if you want to get to know Vancouver and the Vancouverites .. then the Waldorf ticks all the boxes ... Bar and restaurant downstairs, with great Canadian burgers and fish n chips. But no Fat Tug which is a shame!

For the moderate price it was OK plus. A fine place for an in-transit overnight. We didn’t do much except eat and drink at the on-site brew pub which is highly rated and was good. We liked their very genuine and Canadian Poutine. We slept quite well in spite of noise from bar and busy street traffic. There’s a wide variety of Asian restaurants in the area. WiFi is fine. Cleanliness is fine. The staff is nice and helpful.

Great location, easy uber ride into city. supermarket directly across the road. Safe in room not available as key operated and hotel did not have key for it!! Running a vaccuum under the bed would have been good. Pub attached to hotel provided very good meals and service, especially the ribs, for a reasonable price.

Nice-sized room, close to where I needed to go, offers late check-in in which helps as flying there does not give many options. No good food options late at night though.

The overall stay was good. I’ll start with the things that were bad then list the good. The beds were uncomfortable and need to be updated. The bathtub/shower needed to be caulked again because the one in our room was molded and was coming off. The pictures need updated . We had dinner in the restaurant attached to the hotel and a mouse ran under our table. No one was concerned. Good things Close to public transportation. Close to nice little places to eat breakfast. On the last day the lady at the front desk was very helpful and friendly.

Room was good, price was.good. they did not xlean the room i guess thats the norm, news to me. No frills and dollarama right there, close to dt all was pretty good even the parking except the shower needs fixing.
