We had a lovely stay at the Hampton by Hilton in Newcastle, from the lovely room to the very helpful staff and the breakfast team and food , we can’t fault our stay . We parked at the car park at Times Square which isn’t too far away from the hotel and were given a discount by the hotel. . We will definitely return .

One of the lifts is out of order and apparently has been for 3 years. The heating in many of the rooms doesn’t work and the staff try and pretend this is an isolated event. The stack of available portable radiators unfortunately gives the game away. Personally, I would never book this hotel again.

There are major building works going in at the Hotel which i was not aware of. Only 1 lift works which is a pain ,if on higher floors. Reception area a bit of a mess. If i had know i would have stayed somewhere else.

Central hotel in the busy Newcastle city centre. 50 meters from the train station door and easy walking distance to all main dining and nightlife areas. Rooms basic, clean, quiet aircon. Only downside is that one of the elevators is out of service causing a fairly long wait and there are ongoing refurbishment works in the reception and gym (out of service during our stay).

Hotel itself was good, friendly staff who were very helpful. Be aware that car park is at least a 10 minute walk away and the sent as part of confirnation does not take you to the correct car park - very frustrating and disappointing not to be told about it upfront.

Got an early check in which was fab. Very quick check-in. Room was noisy as adjacent to main road but you are in town centre so to be expected.Reception provide ear plugs if required. Came back after dinner for a drink in lounge but the bar only had 1 type of white wine which for a hilton was bizarre. Worse was they had run out of wine glasses so offered gin glasses, really!

Enjoyed the spacious room, we stayed in room 717. This is our 2nd time in the hotel. Love how close the hotel is to the train station. Only thing i noticed is that both occasions, only 1 lift was working out of the 2. Lifts are tiny, it says it fits 10 people but I doubt it. Breakfast included but can do with lots of improvement, no fried eggs. No cutlery or plates laid out on the table. Slow clearing of tables. Saw a blonde waitress doing her mascara near the hot food pass using a reflection on the wall, so unprofessional.

Property is a little tired, and it’s probably not fair to compare to another Hampton Hilton, but Leeds and Blackburn are far far superior. Reception is on the second floor, and there is only one working lift. There is a very clear staff shortage too. Although very friendly, it’s hugely apparent that the staff are stretched. Our bedroom had been well used. It was pleasant enough, but I was most disappointed when I returned to the room at 1am to sleep only to discover that the sheets were dirty and soiled. I was too tired to cause a fuss, but it did prompt me to leave this review.

I loved this hotel, staff were great and the room was gorgeous, this is my hotel of choice now! Good choice for breakfast, coffee from machines isn't great though.Only downsides were only one lift was working, so often was confronted with squashing in with groups of men by myself or waiting, and the edges of the room were dusty and some mould on the grout at the bottom of the shower, some crumbs on desk from previous occupants. Loved the bouncers at the door keeping randomers out and you couldn't get better for the location.

Check in was great and the two young men were very helpful and friendly especially when we asked for a room move due to the room being dirty, there was red/orange "stuff splashed on the rv and some of the sockets. The roomlooked and fekt like it hadn\'t been cleaned. Lots of staun on carpet and furniture. Our 2nd room was much better although still lots of stains everywhere.The water in the sink took an eternity to drain away, surely the room maid should notice and report thi gs like this.The buffet breakfast was disappointing, hot food looked dried up, eggs looked like those rubber ones . the Hampton by hilton in York is far superior to this one. Only good thing is its in a great location and

I checked into my room late, and was given a nice room on the 7th floor (703), but the room was very smelly- stale wet carpet type of smell. I could not be bothered to change it but the smell remained all night One of the glasses still had toothpaste remains in the bottom of it, even though it was with the tea things and upside down.

Checked in, went to room and we discovered the second bed was a child size sofa bed. This was basic, unclean and stained with bodily fluids, Returned to reception to be told hotel was full so would get a refund. After booking an alternative hotel I was informed that the hotel would not refund after all. I have been in conversation with hotels.com regarding this but still no refund weeks later. Disgusting. If you want a reception manager who is a liar, a room with a stained sofabed and no service whatsoever, this is the place to go.

The worst bed i have ever slept in. The bed was hard, no springs, laying on a board. And every time you turned over they creeked. We were moved to another room, same problem. It looks like this has been going on for years according to other reviews, but nothing has been done. The staff was friendly. The breakfast okay.

Fab hotel, great location opposite train station but quiet at night. Only issue was I booked a twin room but was given a queen with sofa bed and the sofa bed was really uncomfortable for my daughter. That was the only problem. Everything else was really good

Rang this property to tell them I’m a night worker so will be arriving late. The receptionist refused to check me in or allocate a room for me and also never even bothered to pass the message on so I was put down as a no show. When checking out they couldn’t print me a receipt but promised to send it. They never did. I have rang them 3 times for this receipt and given them 2 different email addresses and still I have no receipt. Shocking service.

Great location - just beside the train station. City centre shopping, restaurants and the Glasshouse Gateshead all within easy walking distance. Fabulous view from high floor room. Room spacious and well equipped. Breakfast included - lovely scrambled eggs and a waffle maker (never seen that before!). Staff friendly, welcoming and engaged -from check in to late night staff. Nathan on reception deserves special mention - best check in ever from someone who made me feel individual and welcomed. Will definitely stay again!

Lovely staff the moment we arrived made us feel like a very valued customer, Lovely gesture gifting us a couple of glasses of prosseco as there for our anniversary. Rooms are spotless with comfortable bed nice pillows etc and the breakfast in the morning has a great variety all in all 10 out of 10 couldn't fault the place and look forward to returning.

Stay in this hotel quite often as it is well placed for rail station and Arena and have never had a problem until this time. I was staying there with a friend and we arrived at different times. She arrived first and was allowed to check into the room even though the room was booked in my name and her name did not appear anywhere on the booking! As it happens this wasn't a problem but could have been. She may not have been the person I was staying there with and could have been there to cause problems - this should never happen, only the person named on the booking should be allowed to check unless the hotel has been informed before arrival in my opinion.

Excellent location, very close to both Newcastle Central Station (National Rail) and Tyne and Wear Metro for access to/from Newcastle Airport. Clean, comfortable room with the "usual" tea/coffee offering and VERY good toiletries. Housekeeping excellent and very efficient. Front desk team friendly, helpful knowledgeable. Excellent buffet breakfast (including veggie items) in very comfortable and spacious setting. A great choice for a stay in Newcastle !!!

A nice hotel in a great central location. Room clean and tidy and staff helpful when needed. Room could do with a mini fridge for keeping drinks etc cool especially for GNR. Maybe different type of coffee machine as not the easiest to operate and options like omelettes would be good, but overall a nice stay.
