Great location for this quaint old building. Lots of character, right across from the beach, nice bar and restaurant right on site and several more within walking distance. Loved it!!

The location was great and we had a room with a view of the ocean. There is free parking right across the street. Our room was on the 4th floor. The stairs were easy to use, and the elevator is very old and you need to call for assistance with it. The room was small and the floor slanted so much so the head of the bed was on blocks. My husband dropped chapstick and it rolled all the way across the room. The bathroom is very small with no counter space what so ever. Not even room to set a plastic cup down. There is a pool but it is shared with other hotels. I would suggest finding another place and we would not stay again based on price and what you got for the price. We did not have a bad experience but just feel would could have done better.

Good location. Clean Stayed on 5th floor and there is one tiny elevator for 3 people. An attendant is needed to operate elevator. When hotel is crowded it is difficult to use elevator.

Lovely hotel in a fantastic location. Felt very historic. Good service in the restaurant and coffee shop. Elevator available, but required paging an operator and steps were quicker. Full with bus tour when we were there and porches and dining areas were a bit noisy, Could walk to beach directly across the street. and our room had a view of the beach

The location was probably the best on the beach. Everywhere we wanted to go was walkable. There was a large covered porch that we were able to enjoy happy hour and listen to the nightly entertainment.

In the moment we arrived, it was a very pleasant day. We loved being able to park right across the street and get beach tags starting at 11 AM the day that we checked in. Our room was available early as well. The staff was very kind and we enjoyed the toiletries and white robes in the rooms. The lobby makes for a comfortable place to relax in the evening or on the wraparound porch. The location is fantastic and walkable to all of the main points of interest in Cape May. Would definitely recommend!

Rooms are small but well appointed - only wished for more towel racks for wet towels and bathing suits. Loved the free beach pass/umbrellas/chairs!

The Inn grounds and atmosphere was very pleasant. Vintage feeling with modern outside fireplaces and couches. Pool located on a corner of loud busy street. We were most disappointed with the room. Bathroom sink tiny, no room for placing cosmetics etc. Bathroom door didn’t close Bare white walls with a hospital room feeling this was the 5th floor. Having to ask for a bellhop every time you use the mini antique elevator was a little annoying. Room walls were thin and you could hear much more than you needed to hear which was a complete disappointment. Breakfast on the porch was good as well as the staff service. The staff overall were very nice!

Across the street from beach access and within walking distance to a lot of local bars, restaurants and shopping. Restaurant with a good breakfast, on premises. Place was very clean and cozy with a nice fireplace in the lobby. Room was a little small but clean and comfortable. Only issue was lack of water pressure and water didn’t get very hot in the shower. Definitely recommend.

Per the historic nature of this Inn, the rooms and bathrooms are tiny but very clean and well maintained. The air conditioning worked incredibly well in our room and the hot water was plentiful. We are pretty picky about beds and pillows and this one suited us just fine. The Porch dining space overlooking the ocean is what dreams are made of and the All Day Omelet with egg whites was so good, I had it every morning. There are Bike racks inconspicuously located on property, a great pool that allows adult beverages, (see photo) a main floor bar/restaurant and it is waking distance to literally everything. If you are looking for a spacious & luxurious hotel room, than this is not the place for you. But if you are looking to sleep at a historic Inn with a location that enables you to easily be out and about Cape May that will also 4 star guest service, book this place now.

This is an old property that has the charm of the time it was built. Architecture is beautiful . The Inn has been renovated and updated. Even though it has been freshen up, it stills feels that it needs additional attention to detail. Rooms are very small but provided everything needed and are clean. Location is unbeatable, you are across the street from the beach and at walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Also, they provided complementary daily passes to the beach and chairs and umbrellas. Staff was polite and attentive.

The Inn is a pleasant place to stay. Like most B&B and inns in Cape May it was built in the 1800's. So it is old and not everything is perfect. There were at least two handimen working all day doing maintenance on one thing or another; it was not a bother. The hotel staff were excellent- very attentive and offering assistance. The food options (coffee bar, porch/bar/pub, and full service restaurant) were very good. The rooms and common spaces were as clean as they could be. The room we stayed in was very small (is what it is) but could have been better furnished. All in all it was a pleasant stay and if we were to visit Cape May again we would definitely consider the Inn of Cape May.

I used to love coming here and had been staying here for 20 years. Every morning I went into the bathroom to wash over a basin pulled out from the wall, how it happened I have no idea, but it should have been repaired before the room was rented. The hook on the wall had been taken out and haphazardly installed again with the two Philips head screws hanging out of the holes. Room 401. It was quiet and the bedding and towels appeared to be clean. I ate there one night and the food was fine. The bartender, however, had no idea how to make some fairly standard drinks and the wait on the porch was sometimes terrible. I may go elsewhere next time. The beach tags and chair and umbrella have always been a plus with the room offer,however.

The hotel was grubby and in need of a good cleaning. The staff were surly and unhelpful. The room was awkward with a small bathroom. The shower kept backing up into the tub, the a/c didn't work. The service for the room was lacking. There was no help with your bags...they watched as you struggled with your bags. Breakfast was cold and the waitress gave us a hard time about the table. Overall the impression was that you were not welcome. I would never stay here again.

The staff was excellent and kind , we know it’s an old building but the door was hard to lock and unlock and there were spiders in our room upon arrival also. One of our pillows smelled so bad , and unclean we couldn’t use it. There are no curtains just blinds but our room faces the back streets with lights that could not be covered up completely- the hallway light was also visible under the huge gap in room. I was just surprised for what we were charged for one night. I guess I expected a bit higher standard. Maybe a better room?

From the moment you walk through the doors and are greeted by the super friendly, smiling staff , you are instantly transported to another gentler , peaceful time. Every single staff I encountered was friendly, smiling helpful. The lady at the front desk , I called her angel in my mind because that’s what she was , was so helpful. I loved Nicky who made my morning coffee . The room was clean , super clean , white and airy . As I descended the gorgeous stair of this lovely dowager hotel , I could feel myself transported back to the 1800s , I loved the drinks on the porch they were. delicious . Only regret .. leaving.i give this truly beautiful hotel 5 stars and I thank the staff for a memorable stay.

Great view and clean, room with great aesthetics

The hotel staff is delightful, the place is spotless, the linens and bedding are high quality. The location is wonderful and on-site parking eminently convenient. It fits beautifully with the charm of Cape May. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The only detraction is it teeters between quaint and charming and old and inconvenient. The elevator is the 2nd oldest working one in the US (we were told proudly), barely holds three people and must be operated by staff, so this is not a great place for the physically challenged. The least expensive (I dont know about the more expensive rooms) are barely large enough for a king bed and dresser and the little bathroom is circa 1950. I prefer an old hotel with character and can put up with its peculiarities, but others might find it too outdated.

We stayed at the Inn at Cape May from June 11-14th. We were given a room on the 5th floor. There is an extremely old (cool) elevator but you must ring a buzzer for the staff who will operate the elevator. We actually found it difficult to rely on somebody in order for us to go in or out. We were unhappy with the tiny tiny room. It’s in much need for a makeover and the view was horrible. We did ask for another room but they only had a suite and they would charge an additional $450!! Needless to say, we stayed in our tiny 1 double room. The staff were very nice and accommodating otherwise. I wouldn’t return to this Victorian style hotel as I would prefer something with a view, a larger room, lower floor and easy access.

Location was fantastic, next to the beach and walkable to so many attractions. Room was uneven and sparsely furnished, bathroom was very tiny.

We love the old style hotels and this is one. This was our second stay because we had a nice experience the first time. This time however, our room was extremely small. This would have been acceptable except for the condition of the bathroom. A small shelf was not secured to the wall and there was no mirror in the bathroom. This was brought to the attention of the front desk the next morning but was never addressed by the time we left the following day.

Old inn with lots of charm. Could use more attention to details with room decor and amenities. Staff was attentive but spread thin at the bar/restaurant. Rooms do not come standard with refrigerators so if needed it will need to be requested for an extra charge.

the room was very small no chair, no night/side tables. no wall decorations, no clock, a king size bed and a small dresser a TV and a bathroom, no wall decorations and nothing else, very sparse for the money we paid, There were very few quests and we were not offered an upgrade, although it probably would not have mattered.

Our room floor wasn't vacuumed well as I was stepping on sand from the moment we got there. But the bed seemed cleaned & was comfortable. Apparently each room at the inn is uniquely laid out, no two are alike. The Ocean 7 restaurant on site... huh. Both times we wanted to get a table, once for dinner & once for late lunch, the hostess was less than friendly. We went somewhere else for dinner. For lunch, there were lots of open seats on "the porch", yet she made couples sit at a small 2 person table even if they requested a 4 person one, rather rudely. One couple even walked out after waiting almost 10 mins & never saw a waitress after being seated. Food was ok. Cocktails drinks were good! We were surprised by the live band music that was there. Music itself was good, but we went for peace & quiet, so we couldn't sit quietly on the porch nor in our room until they left at 10pm. We would give the inn another chance based on the other nice staff!

The floors were not stable and slanted. You felt as if you were on a rocking cruise ship

This place is smack dab in the center of everything BUT needs major updating. Our bathroom door wouldn’t close, we had to lift it to close. No hot water from the sink. No pressure at all in the shower. The window had rotten wood and didn’t close all the way. We had to walk up 3 flights of steps cause elevator only fit 2 people and had to wait for employees to bring you up. We understood the history of the place and ole world charm but some modern necessities need to be addressed. The room was clean but bare. The chair in the room was uncomfortable and falling apart. We had no where to lay down our bags cause there was no furniture. My phone wouldn’t charge all the way each night I believe cause the outlet failed. No wifi service at all or very weak. They need some boosters for higher rooms. The bed was ok but up against a wall with itchy sheets but that happens in many hotels. The parking is convenient but fills up fast. They gave us coupons for food/ drink and also beach tags. There was live music which was entertaining. Overall a positive experience just needs alot of TLC. Also not worth the money they asking for it.

The room was damaged. The ceiling was dropping plaster on the bed and entire room. Air condition did not work. Staff said we would get a refund and they would call us the next day. Still did not recieve a refund or a call

Everything about our stay was perfect. Chef’s kiss! Staff was overly accommodating!

Terrible experience. Very expensive room was "horrible". Service was "horrible" and some employees downright rude. Grossly overpriced for what you got

What a lovely hotel!!! Very charming inn right across from the beach! The staff was so wonderful and accommodating with every single detail of our stay, from checkin to welcoming us with champagne on our honeymoon to breakfast, elevator service, and town recommendations! We loved the overall experience here at The Inn Cape May!

Beautiful hotel. Room was bright and clean and the staff… just amazing. So thoughtful and the front reception girl made our checkin so easy. We were exhausted from a long drive and a stress full week and she stepped in and took care of us. It was magical!

last minute booking Tues after Labor day, The property was very dated, But the Age was the charm thats why we booked it. almost no one in the hotel. Would have love to spend last beach day. Requested a late check out, Reception and Manager Christine and Rebeca were so nasty. You would think I was asking for a free day ! Will never go back!

Highly recommend! Was an absolutely beautiful stay, excellent staff, great food, perfect location, clean and just an overall great experience. Love this place and wouldn't stay anywhere else!

We stayed in a Demi room which is pretty small but fantastic for the price compared to the nightly rates everywhere else. There was a parking lot, restaurant, coffee shop and pool. Plenty of outdoor seating. The room rate came with restaurant coupons, beach passes and free beach chair/ umbrella rental. The beach is across the street. Walking distance to all the restaurants and shopping. One block over bicycle rentals to explore west cape may and the lighthouse.

Beautiful Inn built in 1894. Across the street from the beach , wrap around front porch, pool, friendly and helpful staff . Close to shops and restaurants. I will most definitely be returning! Thank you for a wonderful stay .

There was live music outside while we ate dinner on the deck. The atmosphere was amazing

It's a cool place and very clean. I stayed just 1 night and that's probably all I could ever do. The room was very small up on the 4th floor. Bathroom had no horizontal space to hold items. The restaurant had very slow service for breakfast but the food was good. Customer service could be more upbeat and friendly. Location is perfectly convenient to walk everywhere, which we did.

Awesome location close to the beach. The restaurant was also very good bith for lunch and breakfast. The wi fi was a bit slow but everything else was awesome

We stayed at this lovely Inn in Sept 2024, the weather was gorgeous. The Inn is charming, the staff was EXCELLENT! The bar was quaint, bartender was awesome! music nightly. The food was very good. Delish Quiche and a cappuccino in the am. Nice lunch menu and dinner was 5 star! Did not mind at all using the stairs, we were on the 4th floor, we loved the walk up, more should. Easy living for a week. We will be returning next summer that's for sure.
