Lovely place to stay in Springfield. They’ve done an excellent job with the decor. It’s very quiet and clean, and it’s nice to have both free parking and free full breakfast. Great location.

A classical old place to stay that was very clean. Excellent parking and easy entry. Awesome jacuzzi bathtub and built in elevator a great advantage. The one suggestion I have is more counter space near small sink in the bathroom (in the "Hyacinth" room).

When checking in the room needed a bit of extra prep work so the receptionist accommodated free drinks and an appetizer at the local brewery owned by the establishment as well. Upon arrival back the room was well stocked and cleaned to perfection. Local papers and travel maps were provided to navigate around the locations near the establishment. Fresh Baked Cookies were dropped off after a bit of travel around town and morning breakfast was top notch. If I were to stay anywhere local again I would definitely look for availability here.

Beautiful property. Staff was very attentive. Breakfast was cooked to order and wine with cheese at 5pm was appreciated. Building is quite old and creaky boards along with solid doors closing the noises do carry.

A Charming and enjoyable place. Convenient to downtown Springfield, IL, walkable. Service by the staff was outstanding. The Happy Hour, cookies and a hot breakfast which was included was a nice touch. A couple of problems though, we could not get the tv to work and the lighting in the bathroom was not very good. All in all a very nice experience.

A cool spot that was very clean. Toni at the front desk was extremely helpful, and the cookies each day were amazing. It's more like a bed and breakfast type place, without amenities like a pool or gym, but would definitely stay there again

Breakfast was very nice, chef Kyi is great and very friendly. All of the staff were nice. Night time delivery of fresh baked cookies (delivered in little baskets) was a very special touch. Plenty of on site parking, well lite. Only downside is a nearby train that we could hear, periodically through the early morning hours.

A delicious breakfast, afternoon snacks, incredible evening cookies (delivered to the room!), a wonderfully historic site, engaging staff, convenient to the downtown historic locations and museums, and at less than half the cost of a commercial hotels in further, less convenient and less interesting, locations. We stayed our first night en route to places west, and immediately reserved for our return drive.

Overall this is a nice property and you won’t be disappointed. Service was excellent & everything was very clean. Enjoyed the evening snack and cookies delivered to the room. We walked to the Capitol building (about a mile) & would’ve walked other places but it was extremely hot. Vinegar Hill Mall is close and nice. We had the Iris room with veranda access-didn’t use it as much as we thought because of the heat. Two minor negatives for us. Photos of Iris room show 2 chairs in the room but we only had 1 (for 2 people). Most of the dining tables are hi tops with uncomfortable stools. There are a few regular tables & 2 outside also. We only found 2 comfortable chairs in sitting room. FYI: others mentioned train horns that could be annoying but they stopped in the evening until 6 am or so. You may need insect spray -we got bit up on veranda in evening.

The property is generally nice, but the carpet in our room was disgusting. Not that it was old, but it was very dirty. I doubt that carpet had been cleaned in a long time. This place has a lot of potential. The staff was very nice, but its hard to overlook the carpet. The room also needed to be painted and cleaned better. I would not stay there again because I didn't think it was very clean. Its too bad because it has so much natural charm.

The room itself was comfortable. The bathroom was hazardous with wet tile floor and old style bathtub that was hard to get in. The shower curtain was difficult to use. The only mirror in the room was a small bathroom mirror that was set too high. I had to stand on two pillows to be able to see myself. Also, there were two holes in the sheets. One was rather large, which was unacceptable. Not sure how you could overlook a ripped sheet. Breakfast was good.

The room was spotless. The amenities were fantastic. We had the Hyacinth room and it had a jetted whirlpool tub, and a fireplace next to the bed. There was a beautiful breakfast in the morning and fresh cookies at night. It was a cozy, historic, quaint inn. It made this made our trip.

The common/1st floor areas were beautiful. Staff was amazingly helpful & friendly. The Poppy room was shabby: wrinkled sheers, mismatched drapes that didn't close all the way letting in the parking lot light, filthy carpets, mold on tub jets & shower curtain, thick dust in crevices of doors & baseboards, need more grab bars in tub, apple found under bed, air conditioner was loud, pipe in closet was dripping, outlet by bed was broken, lots of chipped paint (lead?!)

The building is lovely. The staff is great. The bed was comfortable. However, there were paint chips in a couple places, and there were dried drips down one of the bathroom walls. The vent fan in the bathroom was rusty. The bathroom door didn’t shut tightly. Noticeable details that could easily be attended to.

Everything was great. Our room was small, especially the bathroom, but we made it work. My only complaint (and it didn't bother my husband), was the shower pressure with hot water. The cold water pressure was fine.

One thing I would mention is that the tub/shower was a jacuzzi tub that was challenging to step in and out of if one is not fairly young and agile and tall.

We really enjoyed our stay here! It was close to all of the sights and attractions in Springfield and the service was very good. We loved the historic building and the feeling of staying in a hotel early 1900’s apartment complex. It comes with all of the quirks that one would expect of an older building including some shared noise from the hallways, creaky floors and keys jingling into doors but other than that, we were very happy. For us, this didn’t deter from the charm of the space and we really enjoyed the comfort of the bed. All around, very nice experience

This is a really nice property and a well-preserved piece of history. Our rooms were very nice, clean, and the beds comfortable. Loved the experience. I would have rated it a full 10 but the internet was so slow it was not useable. Over all it was a pleasant stop on a very long road trip.

I enjoyed my stay here -- especially the cookie delivery. The room was comfortable. I had some issues with the wifi speed/stability which was fine because I had my hotspot but not ideal as a business traveler. The breakfast was great.

Lovely place to stay. It was my 2nd visit. Easy access to everything in Historic Springfield. The architecture and interior of this historic property is beautiful. It was built in 1990 as apartments and later converted into this 7-room Bed and Breakfast. We stayed in the Rose room, which had a comfy large sofa and 4-poster bed that was so comfortable - slept so well! This room has both a jetted bathtub and a large shower with dual shower heads. The breakfast was very nice; scrambled eggs and french toast but also continental if you want to grab and go. We had yummy chocolate chip cookies waiting for us. So appreciative of this small but wonderful surprise.

Upon arrival back the room was well stocked and cleaned to perfection. Local papers and travel maps were provided to navigate around the locations near the establishment. Fresh Baked Cookies were dropped off after a bit of travel around town and morning breakfast was top notch. If I were to stay anywhere local again I would definitely look for availability here.

The staff were remarkably kind and accommodating. We arrived in the early evening for a funeral the next morning. They allowed us to leave our car in their lot after we checked out so we could walk to the service at a nearby church. Breakfast was delicious. It was lovely to stay in a proper B&B.

My room needed some updating. The bathroom door wouldn't close at all. The door scraped along the bottom of the floor and it was impossible to close. If I was staying there with another person it would have been totally unacceptable. A bedside lamp was loose and almost fell over. The air conditioning system couldn't be modified. You couldn't turn it down so I had to turn it off. I only saw the staff at the front desk when I checked in and out. They were never around. I know it's an old building but there were definite issues so I won't be going back there.

The staff are generally lovely, but sometimes overwhelmed. The main building is lovely but the “Bell House” gets less attention and maintanance, so you really have to advocate for yourself if you stay there. Breakfast is quite nice as are the cookies at night!

You will be hard pressed to find a better value than the Inn at 835. Beautiful arts and crafts period property. Close to down town atractions. The staff is amazing. I look forward to my next stay.

Beautiful hotel and great location. Strange check in with new employee knew very little about the hotel or set up. Shame no amenities such as a bar on site. Lovely touches of warm cookies before bedtime but other areas really lacking - need to get the balance right! Shower didn’t work and tub took a good half an hour to fill half way!

Within walking distance to many of the Lincoln attractions. The Lincoln Presidential museum (suggested by hotel staff) is a must see! Such an enjoyable stay we will be booking it again for our return journey!

Excellent room, loved the jacuzzi tub and separate double head walk in shower. Excellent king sized bed and room. Great breakfast, wish it time frame was longer than 1.5 hours. Only gave 4/5 stars for area around property due to train horn during sleeping time, though the tracks were blocks away.

If you like historic buildings and enjoy staying in a hotel of yesteryear, this is your place. If you are looking for a modern day hotel, this would not be the place for you! Good:rooms where quaint and unique. Happy hour (wine and cheese each night). Bad: Wasn't informed there is no room service, towels and trash wasn't serviced in the rooms. (It should have been said , (I get it, but I wasn't told prior). Breakfast: probable would have been happier with a continental. (eggs where not to be desired) Seemed like they spent a lot of effort and money bringing this building back to life (beautiful job I might add), its a shame the first thing you see is a worn and weather front door and transit. Bottom line I would recommend this place though.

On a hot summer day, I was happy with how well the air conditioner worked. The room was good size, but it like the main area it is showing its age and could use some updating. There was plenty of free parking. The cookies at night were a nice touch and they were tasty. I had high expectations for breakfast given the many positive reviews, but it fell short due to bacon being barely warm.

The property has great potential. It's old and repairs are a work in progress. I was in the Lavender Suite. It was quite spacious but smelled a little musty. I'd recommend taking up the carpeting. Providing breakfast eas a nice touch. The property is conveniently located to most attractions.
