This is a nice, clean, modern hotel that is a great alternative to the usual big chains. The room was large, well-appointed (with a small kitchenette), with modern decor. It's right downtown, with many restaurants/bars nearby. The only downsides -- no parking (but there is a parking garage around the corner), no elevator, and the HVAC is a little noisy (but the hotel provides foam earplugs in the bathroom).

Walking distance to River Run Centre, this was the perfect spot for an overnight stay after a concert. Lots of dining options within walking distance but no overnight street parking (closest paid parking lot is Western Parkade). Our 3rd floor room had compact kitchen with full size fridge, stove, microwave; Keurig coffee maker with Kirkland coffee, Tim Hortons steeped tea & CoffeeMate. Cafe size table with one dining chair, but there were two comfy chairs that worked with table. Would recommend as a great place to stay unless you have mobility issues. Rooms are on 2nd and third floors; no elevator — stairs only. Bathtub is deep. Check-in is at the bar/restaurant on the ground floor where you get a key fob for entry door and code for room door. Checkout by dropping key fob in lobby/foyer box. It was our 2nd stay here.

Ask for a second floor room to climb the least amount of stairs. Street parking is available only from 9 am to 9pm; for overnight parking, you’ll have to use one of the paid parking lots a short walk away. Restaurants, River Run and Sleeman centre are very walkable. Perfect spot to stay if you are in Guelph for a concert.

Stay was great. Hotel is very nice, modern clean. Only glitch is that they don’t have a front desk. You need to check in at restaurant next door which is great except restaurant doesn’t open until 4 on Tuesdays. Check in time is 3 and with no parking at the site, we had all of our bags with us and no one at restaurant to give us key fobs etc. once there was someone available at restaurant all was good.

We’ve stayed here multiple times. Property itself is quite nice. There is no parking. They suggest using the public parking garage down the street. It’s always seemed kind of sketchy and our car got violently broken into during our last stay. I sent a note to the hotel and they failed to respond. Unless you don’t have a car don’t stay here.

This is not a normal hotel. You run the risk you will not be able to check-in if you show up late. Parking instructions were terrible. A phone number to communicate with a responsible human being is not made available until after you check-in, assumming your are able to do so.

At first it can be confusing as you need to go into the restaurant next door to get checked in but once you realize that, it’s great. There is no parking at the actual hotel, you have to park in the city parking lot which is a 2 min walk from hotel. Not bad just inconvenient. The room we stayed in was like a mini apartment. Very clean and quiet, we stayed in a Monday night. It Had a kitchen area with full size appliances and dishes, an area for a dining table, little sitting area, full size bathroom and a separate bedroom with large closet, dresser and side tables. Ample room for comfort. We will be staying here again.

Hotel was fantastic. It is a bit odd dealing with a front desk located in a bar, but they make it work. Only downside is that youd better be prepared to climb stairs. The building is old and well maintained, but it doesn’t have an elevator

Not a usual hotel! In an old downtown building with very inexpensive parking garage right behind it. Easy check in procedure at the main floor Western Steak and Burger. Many nice restaurants within walking distance. Fully equipped rooms with full kitchen and separate bedroom. Great price and convenience. (No elevator) We have returned again since our first visit and will likely return again if we have business in Guelph.

This hotel has no elevators. We had the penthouse suite. It was very large, but there were only a few, high windows, so it felt a bit like a cage...no view onto the street. It was aslo on the 4th floor, so 4 flights of stairs, the last one being veey steep and narrow. The staff was unfriendly at best.

This historical hotel has a unique vibe about it and is located in an area within walking distance to many good eateries. The room was very clean, except for very dusty refrigerator top that somwone had previously spelled "Dusty" on it. The room was very quiet, though the bathroom was cramped. The only down side are the stairs. A number of flights to get to the 3rd floor, as there was no elevator. Good exercise, but not if you have a number of heavy suitcases.

Room was large and clean. Shocked there were no windows other than the bedroom to the bathroom. The skylights did add natural light during the daytime in the bathroom and kitchen area. Not enough hot water for one person to shower.

Really cool heritage property, fully upgraded and well executed. Layouts are a little funky (our room had only skylights, no windows) but very nice and the perfect stopover for a local concert.

Quirky lodging — seems to be a mix of apartments and hotel suites. Our “room” was a 1 bedroom w/ a kitchen/dining/living room and a nice bathroom. Very clean and comfortable. We were on the third floor and there is no elevator but this wasn’t a problem since we tend to use steps anyway! Location was excellent for dining and generally walking around Guelph.

We had a lovely stay when we were visiting for one night for a concert. The location is prime, and there is a restaurant on my main level, plus a ton of other options within a block or two, including a great breakfast spot! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We were so happy with our stay and would certainly return and recommend to others!

Beautiful rooms. Very clean and modern. There is no lobby or "front desk" so you have to call a phone number. Couldn't get the tv to work in the bedroom and called; after at least an hour, somebody came up and he told me that tv was broken. Couldn't have told me that over the phone? That's really the only down-side. I couldn't locate the wifi password so I sent an email to ask and the response I eventually got was "it's in the information letter you got when you checked in" (the photocopy they gave me was really faded and hard to read). They didn't even bother to tell me the password. So the personal connection wasn't really there, but the room was fantastic.

The air conditioner had a high pitched tone so had to shut it off, talked to one of the cleaning folks who helped open windows as it was cool outside. The shower needs to be fixed as the diverter didn’t work 100% (also shown to staff). My room felt a bit claustrophobic as all the blinds were closed made room feel small (they were closed because no view or into another window I made adjustments where possible). As I was with others I got to see different rooms in the hotel that were much better so not all bad. These next points were known, no lobby, no elevator, no parking (city paid lot). Restaurant attached to hotel was good. Made do but I wouldn’t stay again.

First visit and I was enchanted. It is located in charming downtown Guelph, 5 minute walk from the train station. Very well appointed rooms. I had a one bedroom suite with LVR, eating area, kitchenette with full size stove and fridge. It would be suitable for long stays. However, there are no elevators so not suitable for those with mobility issues. The one drawback was the TV remote which I could not set to regular cable TV: these should be simplified as models change from one hotel to another and it is annoying to waste so much time trying to figure out how it works. Definitely not a deal breaker just annoying. I would 100% recommend and return myself.

Lovely heritage building, nicely renovated. Interesting space, larger than expected (kitchen, living room, separate bedroom). Felt more like an apartment than a hotel - would be good for an extended stay. Right downtown, so easily walkable to bus station, restaurants, shops. Right across from a club, so on the weekend, it was a bit noisy.

We enjoyed our stay. I have two comments. One is regards to the height of the bed. It was a bit difficult to get into bed as I am short. It would have been nice to have a foot stool to make it easier to get in and out of bed. The other comment is regarding the bathtub. Despite having slip stripes on the bottom of the bathtub, I found it still slippery. I would suggest adding a bar to have more stability while taking a shower.

The waitress who checked us was surly and unfriendly. But the suite was spacious and clean. Some annoying things included a lamp with a lightbulb that didn't work. Perhaps include some extra lightbulbs in the suite. One of the bedroom doors also didn't latch properly. But overall, a great stay. Just hope to never be served by that waitress again.
The waitress who checked us was surly and unfriendly. But the suite was spacious and clean. Some annoying things included a lamp with a lightbulb that didn't work. Perhaps include some extra lightbulbs in the suite. One of the bedroom doors also didn't latch properly. But overall, a great stay. Just hope to never be served by that waitress again.

This place is AMAZING. Exceptionally clean. Fresh.Has everything you might need. I don’t have enough words to rave about this establishment. If ever in Guelph be sure to stay here & be sure to eat in the restaurant downstairs. Everything was delicious and service was top notch. 10/10

The hotel and the room were great, but the check-in person we dealt with was rude, dismissive, flat out unhelpful. She seemed almost frustrated with us that we arrived for our stay. A man sitting at the bar was offered more direction and helpful information than the employee. Room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The streets outside were crowded with open air drug use, overflowing garbage cans, and crowds of homeless blocking doors and stairs. Dining in the area offers plenty of choices. We had a few good meals. Parking on Saturday night was free, as we parked our car on the street until 9 and then moved it into the city lot.

This is not a normal hotel. You run the risk you will not be able to check-in if you show up late. Parking instructions were terrible. A phone number to communicate with a responsible human being is not made available until after you check-in, assumming your are able to do so.

Third time we stayed at this property- different room each time. Though we only stayed overnight each time, would recommend this property. Some things to note: Check-in is at the restaurant adjacent to the hotel. Those with mobility issues should note that there are no rooms on the ground floor and no elevator. Ask for a second floor room to climb the least amount of stairs. Street parking is available only from 9 am to 9pm; for overnight parking, you’ll have to use one of the paid parking lots a short walk away. Restaurants, River Run and Sleeman centre are very walkable. Perfect spot to stay if you are in Guelph for a concert.

First visit and I was enchanted. It is located in charming downtown Guelph, 5 minute walk from the train station. Very well appointed rooms. I had a one bedroom suite with LVR, eating area, kitchenette with full size stove and fridge. It would be suitable for long stays. However, there are no elevators so not suitable for those with mobility issues. The one drawback was the TV remote which I could not set to regular cable TV: these should be simplified as models change from one hotel to another and it is annoying to waste so much time trying to figure out how it works. Definitely not a deal breaker just annoying. I would 100% recommend and return myself.

Suites and building extremely clean, nicely reno’d and well-maintained. Centrally located downtown, steps from Via, GO, central bus station, taxi and walk to casual eateries. But no elevator (4 flights of stairs to top floor) and no on-site front desk or hotel staff (check-in is in bar next door), so it’s not a service hotel with amenities. More like tiny apartments.

We had a lovely stay when we were visiting for one night for a concert. The location is prime, and there is a restaurant on my main level, plus a ton of other options within a block or two, including a great breakfast spot! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We were so happy with our stay and would certainly return and recommend to others!

The hotel has a very cool boutique style experience. It is essentially an apartment in the middle of the busy city center. Parking is not on site but just a short walk down the street. The attached restaurant is incredible. Food and service exceeded our expectations. The downside of our room specifically was the noise from the adjacent building. There was a party happening the night we stayed and unfortunately we could hear every word of every song. Overall, the Western hotel is an excellent spot to stay, just bring earplugs...

This is one of my favourite hotels , it is unique. Restaurant attached to it is very good also. Unfortunately the downtown area of Guelph is under major road construction so is a little tricky getting around.
