Sommerset Cottages

Extremely disappointing and distressing experience at Somerset Cottages, Sunderland. We booked and paid for accommodation but encountered numerous problems, including poor cleanliness, unfinished plaster and building residue, concerns about electrical socket fittings, and a shower that was unusable for approximately two days. We also had serious fire-safety concerns, including doors that did not close properly and an apparent lack of smoke detectors. We documented these issues with photographs and videos and submitted a complaint. Instead of resolving our concerns, the property operator accused us of deliberately damaging the kitchen, which we strongly deny. The situation escalated when we were prevented from entering the accommodation late at night during our paid stay. We could not retrieve our belongings without assistance, and police attended the incident. After 2h (11pm-1am) speaking to Cservice asking to pay £10 different to relocate us they rejected. We were left without suitable accommodation and ultimately spent the night in our vehicle. Following the dispute, we also experienced further concerning conduct from the property operator, including negative online publications relating to our business, despite our stay being entirely unrelated to our professional services. This experience caused significant distress. We have retained supporting evidence and would not recommend this property.

Very good and very clean and a nice warm place

It's a lovely house with everything you need, and very clean, the landlord has been very helpful and easy to contact, I've even extended my stay, and if I ever find myself in Sunderland again this property would be my first port of call.

I drove to the 1st postcode that I was sent but it turned out to be 4 miles from the actual property. In short 2 different postcodes were sent in separate emails. The emails did not state that the property would be shared. The young man in the other room was polite enough but I would’ve preferred to know it was shared when booking it. The door to my bedroom didn’t sit flush to lock it with the code. It was really difficult locking the door when I was going out and used up valuable time. The bed was unstable too.
