Old mansion turned B&B...good for one night! Limited amenities...but basics were there. Clean but not visually pleasing...peeling wallpaper...towels were yellow from use...portable a/c units everywhere. If you have limited ability to walk stairs this will be difficult..no elevators. Breakfast was nice but only served at 8am. Overall interesting historic place and worth a visit if thats your thing!!

We had a marvelous stay. The place is old, l and beautiful. The owner was very nice. There were snacks provided and a wonderful breakfast. Parking was right across the street. Within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and attractions.

I didn't like the fact that I never had a single contact with any human being. Everything was done by text. The front door was unlocked at all times, but there was no one monitoring it. Anyone could have walked in and gone to any room at any time.

Nice, clean and comfortable stay. Older mansion with very nice owners who are obviously doing what they can to make your stay as pleasant as possible! Extensive use of air purifiers was welcomed. Good breakfast with something to suit anyone.

Lovely old building with many period furnishings. So much to see, beautiful woodwork and scrolling. Even the curtains look like originals. The morning breakfast was served in a quaint set up in a dining room area with coffee, egg bake, fresh fruit and assorted pastries. I believe it was the owner who does all the work and served us breakfast. He was very friendly and informative. Very nice sitting room to relax and an open porch with seating. We had a nicely decorated room with a mini-fridge and an assortment of goodies to munch on. The only negative would be that we could not open the draperies or shades in our room. It was an easy walk to bars, eateries, boutique shopping and to the Fenelon Elevator. No problem getting an Uber when we wanted to go to the marina to go on the American Lady Riverboat. We can't wait to go back to Dubuque and will definitely stay there again.

We booked last minute, barely found it in the dark as signage wasn’t obvious. But Robert was welcoming and took our bags upstairs. He explained the keys, TV, brought us some ice and said breakfast would be at 8.It was good with plenty of choices.

Redstone is an iconic older hotel, that has tremendous character. It is a fun place to explore and stay. It does need some changes, windows etc. but one cannot expect modern, chrome and glass in an Inn that has retained the character of this one.

Very pleasantly surprised. We were on the third floor so it was a bit of an effort to get our stuff up and down but staff was willing to help if needed. Enjoyable breakfast experience

The building is slowly falling into disrepair. The outside looks like a dilapidated old mansion-not welcoming. The interior while very clean is falling into disrepair. All the wallpaper is falling off being held up by duct tape all over. Everything painted needs to be repainted-cracked, chipped, peeling paint. The curtains are insufficient for privacy. The owner was very kind, but there is an odd feeling no staff on hand but security cameras everywhere. Poor lighting due to missing lightbulbs gives an odd feeling to the hallways.

This could not have been a worse experience. The bed and breakfast if thats what you would call it is disgusting. Its dirty, falling apart and a serious fire hazard. We did not even feel safe despite the 25 cameras he has monitoring your every move. The owner is creepy and inappropriate.

Room was dirty, water damage in the ceiling that was not repaired, peeling paint, peeling wallpaper, stained carpet, strange plastic wrap over wallpaper plus electric issues (sometimes the lights worked, sometimes they didn't). Didn't eat breakfast so can't comment there. There may also be a mold issue with the number of air filtration systems throughout. Owner was borderline rude making a comment that we were bothering him. You should really pass this one by.

Stay at your own risk. The online pictures severely understate the condition of the property both externally and internally. From the jerry-rigged attempt to secure the entrance to the inn, to the wallpaper coming of the walls. to mold in the bath tub, to hand soap that was unusable, lamp shades that were taped to together and so forth. It is unfortunate, with some "TLC" and determined renovation, this could be a welcoming and charming inn.

It was wonderful even before we arrived. Robert sent us an email and a text giving us our personal code for the front door lock along with our room number and WiFi password. When we arrived he greeted us and carried our two bags up to our room. The mansion was built in 1894, yet the rooms have attached bathrooms. Everything was clean and quiet. We went out for dinner and a concert, and when we got back late, we didn’t have any trouble getting in and up to our room. Breakfast the next morning was delightful. Robert welcomed us to choose a table, he poured our coffee and tea, and presented us with a hot egg dish. He also had fresh fruit (apples, strawberries, pineapple, mango etc. ) cut up, yogurt, pastries, doughnuts, breads, cereal, and juice out that we could help ourselves to. Checkout was a breeze. We totally enjoyed our stay.

We stayed here years ago and had a lovely room. This time our room had a towel bar off in the bathroom, torn wallpaper patched with tape, a corner of the ceiling had a piece of dry wall tacked up covering a hole. The outside stairs had one section blocked because the step was crumbling. The breakfast had a variety of bakery items and fruits with a hot egg & ham sandwich, which was okay. The gentleman who hosted us was very nice, gave directions, and ideas for where to have dinner. Overall we were very disappointed in the Inn.

The Redstone Inn is a wonderfully restored 1894 mansion in Dubuque; the architectural detail downstairs and on the stairs was particularly beautiful. My wife and I stayed here during a cross-country road trip for 3 nights, which provided enough time to visit some of the sights in downtown Dubuque. The Innkeeper, Robert, was very welcoming, helped us up to the 2nd floor with our luggage, and provided a nice breakfast each morning, as well as conversation after breakfast. Our room wasn't large, but adequate, had a nice shower, and a comfortable bed. There was access to Netflix on the TV, which we took advantage of. The only issue I had was getting up the front steps with all of our stuff (more our fault then theirs). This was a lovely stop on our road trip.

The mansion was beautiful and decorated Victorian style. Our room had its own A/C unit and attached bathroom with shower and spa tub. Breakfast was a delicious combo of cold buffet and personally served hot ham and egg sandwich. The owner is a great host and happy to tell the history of the house and area. Located in downtown Dubuque and walking distance to restaurants.

It could be so much better than it was. It’s a beautiful old building, but it needs some TLC. Our room had quite a bit of water damage to the ceiling and they basically tacked a piece of plastic over it. Wallpaper was taped up with duct tape. Parts of the main floor were very cluttered with brochures and posters that were mostly outdated. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was OK. The fresh fruit was great, but the egg sandwich thing was mediocre. I guess for the price I was expecting a little higher standard.

Robert was very personable and friendly. He made the excellent breakfast. The fresh fruit, pastries, egg dish and excellent coffee were greatly appreciated! Cloth napkins, personal service was wonderful. We even had a Kuerig and snacks in our antique room. Location to downtown was great. We walked to all our sites and especially enjoyed the art show in the park nearby.

He ran my credit card with out me being present, twice! Said there was a problem with the card, and gave my room away, tried to uocharge us to a junior suit, and wanted me to pay for running my card. Needless to say we didn’t stay, and I opted to pay at property, but with out me being there freaked me out.

Couldn't get 2 towels without argument from owner When we said we weren't eating breakfast there he said we could have them. Room was awful, wallpaper seams were taped, carpeting very old and uneven. Building was very old and crumbly on outside. We decided to leave. Owner kept trying to talk to me without my husband in the room. He called us cheap. It was unlike anything we've ever dealt with before!!!

This could not have been a worse experience. The bed and breakfast if thats what you would call it is disgusting. Its dirty, falling apart and a serious fire hazard. We did not even feel safe despite the 25 cameras he has monitoring your every move. The owner is creepy and inappropriate.

We booked last minute, barely found it in the dark as signage wasn’t obvious. But Robert was welcoming and took our bags upstairs. He explained the keys, TV, brought us some ice and said breakfast would be at 8.It was good with plenty of choices.

Robert was very personable and friendly. He made the excellent breakfast. The fresh fruit, pastries, egg dish and excellent coffee were greatly appreciated! Cloth napkins, personal service was wonderful. We even had a Kuerig and snacks in our antique room. Location to downtown was great. We walked to all our sites and especially enjoyed the art show in the park nearby.

We had a marvelous stay. The place is old, l and beautiful. The owner was very nice. There were snacks provided and a wonderful breakfast. Parking was right across the street. Within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and attractions.

Mansion was pretty cool with a lot of history to it, however, it is in need of repairs and touch ups throughout. Room was clean and breakfast was very good. Robert was welcoming and had a good sense of humor. Great location, close to restaurant, shopping, casino, and the river.

Really enjoyed our stay here! The property is lovely--an old Victorian house with lots of stained glass, nice furniture, and charming architectural details. Staff was friendly, the breakfast was great, and parking was easier than I expected (since we were there over a weekend it ended up being free). There were also lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance. We had a great stay!

Breakfast was a delicious combo of cold buffet and personally served hot ham and egg sandwich. The owner is a great host and happy to tell the history of the house and area. Our weekend stay at The Redstone was wonderful! The spacious room was perfect for two. It was great having the bathroom included with the room. We appreciated the large refrigerator and the snacks left for us to enjoy. The breakfasts, consisting of a hot dish and an amazing assortment of pastries, fruits, cereal and nuts were wonderful. Robert,the owner, was delightful and we loved hearing his stories of the mansion's history. We highly recommend The Redstone and can't wait to stay there again!

We had a very good experience at Redstone Inn. The innkeeper accommodated us very well even after we messed up about our arrival date. He was very friendly. He greeted us at the door and showed us to our room. We received an upgrade to a suite the second night that was awesome. All the rooms were clean and equipped with everything you might need. The breakfast was delicious and the eggs were prepared and served upon arrival in addition to continental breakfast buffet that had many choices. We also liked the location. We were able to walk to restaurants in area. In all, we enjoyed our stay and would come again.

It’s a beautiful old house in the heart of the city. The innkeeper made a delicious vegan breakfast for me of slow-cooked oatmeal with blueberries and chopped nuts on the side. He also prepared a bowl of fresh fruit with persimmons.

It could be so much better than it was. It’s a beautiful old building, but it needs some TLC. Our room had quite a bit of water damage to the ceiling and they basically tacked a piece of plastic over it. Wallpaper was taped up with duct tape. Parts of the main floor were very cluttered with brochures and posters that were mostly outdated. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was OK. The fresh fruit was great, but the egg sandwich thing was mediocre. I guess for the price I was expecting a little higher standard.
