Set in the gorgeous hamlet of Barley. The Barley Mow is a tastefully furnished pub with rooms. From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed. Our room was beautifully clean with a comfy bed. Complimentary toiletries and biscuits were a nice touch. The menu was very well thought out catering for all food types. The food was outstanding, the best pub grub we have had by far! All the staff are an absolute credit to the place and they create such a wonderful vibe! A special thank you to Toby, Lauren, Ella and Will for going above and beyond during our stay.

A fantastic Lodge style pub with rooms. Location perfect for walking Pendle Hill & the surrounding area. Friendly staff and an excellent restaurant

Exceptional cleanliness, fabulous little stay. Stayed for both breakfast and evening meal and both meals were superb. Friendly atmosphere, friendly locals, beautiful walks, beautiful little village and pub what more could you ask for a weekend away.

Hidden gem only 30 mins from buzzing Manchester. Food was excellent and of great quality. Set in a rural area of outstanding beauty. Cosy and full of atmosphere. Great getaway for a quiet weekend away!!! Highly recommended!

Hotel is cosy and warm on entering. Log burners burning. Our evening meal was average in my opinion. My steak baguette had onions that were Luke warm, as were the beans at breakfast. Breakfast took an age to arrive. Our room was nice except for paint peeling from a chimney breast I think. Overall it suited our needs for 1 night. Set in breathtaking scenery.

Lovely room and atmosphere, great service and excellent food

Really clean, welcoming, and good service. Only criticism was the menu which was a little restrictive - not a lot of healthy options. The food that was offered was very good.

Fantastic room but the blanket on the bed was full of dog hairs. Food was really good.

Very nice staff , all very friendly and helpful Lovely location Room not so comfortable as bed up against a wall and no bedside table Although breakfast nicely cooked No choice of bread Pancakes dry no crème fresh small amount of fruit There is a message upstairs telling you not to go downstairs which is understandable for bar security but in effect you are stuck upstairs once they lock up (9.45 one night just as we got back ) don’t leave anything you may need in the car or try go out out of hours! Menu limited only really chips or sautéed potatoes Lovely log burner if you can get the two seats by it Carpets need a good clean Lovely atmosphere generally

Staff friendly. Only thing that prevented me giving a 5 star review was that the carpet hadn't been vacuum-cleaned prior to arrival. Everything else great.

My experience at the Barley Mow wasn’t a great one from the moment I arrived. Due to my work, I occasionally arrive at hotels just before the 3pm watershed for checking in. The reaction I get is quite mixed but usually they check if housekeeping have completed their work. At the Barley Mow, the reaction was an abrupt negative despite only being 15 minutes early. When I arrived in my room, the tv didn’t work and there was no chair but both of these issues were rectified. However, the tv only worked through a ‘Firestick’ which was irritating especially as there were no instructions. When booking it described the room as “Deluxe” with an espresso coffee machine – this room was neither deluxe or had a coffee machine! The room was small and in need of a full redecoration. The standard of housekeeping was dreadful and, in certain areas, it look as though the room hadn’t been serviced. On the side of the bath was someone’s hair along with dirt in the bath. The corridor and stairs were filthy. Dinner was disappointing as the food overly season. Breakfast was dreadful: overcooked hard dry bacon, overcooked crispy egg, watery mushroom and cheap only just cooked sausages. There was no option on bread for toasting as there were only 2 slices of brown bread that looked like the remnants from yesterday. Sticky, dirty bottle containing orange juice. It’s such a shame that the Barley Mow was so poor as it’s location is wonderful but there’s no professionalism or any attention to detail.

Beautiful room, great location, lovely staff

Nice place, small room and good food. We booked last minute so we were in a room above the bar , however, the noise soon subsided pretty early. Breakfast choice was basic,however, we enjoyed all our meals there

Very friendly welcome, very comfortable bed and great shower. The food was top quality. The only downside was the draught form the window, it was very cold and must be losing lots of energy, the window wouldn’t seal at the top (Room 4) This doesn’t detract from how good my stay was. 9/10, would recommend to others.

Staff excellent. Food wonderful. Noise in room while premises open very loud. Alarm going off at midnight was not great.

Small room but comfortably furnished. Food was excellent, both at breakfast and dinner. Great location for walks around the reservoirs/Pendle Hill. Only downside was the lack of sufficient parking.

Stay was ok in general but was very confused about the gluten free situation as quite a few options on the menu but was told you might not be able to eat as we don’t know about the fryer not a lot of help when you are coeliac. Ate somewhere else which was not what was intended,and there was a problem with breakfast which showed a lack of gluten free knowledge so for this reason probably would not return.

Booked half board. Felt like a cheat, it only meant a £30 credit on food. But this was not published anywhere. Staff and service fabulous. Nice place, just the lack of clarity was a niggle.

Hotel was ok but food was very overpriced and bland. Pretty much no vegetables on the menu and want even asked how I wanted my steak cooked. Will not return.
