The hotel was really a hostel and did not match up with images on their website. We were expecting to be staying in a country house hotel not a youth hostel. The only facility we had was wifi. The room was clean but very basic with no ability to make ourselves a tea or coffee without walking down two flights of very steep steps to the kitchen which was a health and safety nightmare - no idea why they could not have put a tea/ coffee station on the top floor. There was no television or wardrobe in the room and the shared bathroom was used by the volunteer staff due to the well having dried up. There were no paid staff only a group of young volunteers and there was no-one around if you had an issue. Breakfast was not what we expected and no-one seem to be checking what was on offer - e.g only fruit juice was Apple and that was no always available. Cereal was limited to cornflakes or muesli. The fruit was limited to just apples and bananas. There was bread but no other bakery items and the only hot food was eggs which you had to cook yourself in a separate kitchen - no bacon, mushrooms or any other items that could be used to make yourself a full English. You also had to wash up your own breakfast plates. There were also no yogurts but did have a nice range of jams. On the website there was a sitting room (piano room) which looked lovely but the room was empty of furniture as used as a bike store. We will not go there again.

Charming hostel a few minutes drive in from Lyme Regis. A garden and playground in front of the house. Hens running free. We were a family of four and we had a large and quiet room all to ourselves selve on the top floor. Great atmosphere :)

Lots of stairs, no lift. Bathrooms are shared, not private as advertised on Hotels.com. Breakfast is very basic and guests are asked to wash their own dishes by hand in a very basic kitchen. Hygiene level is very poor. Not suitable for anyone with allergies or special dietary requirements (Eg. Celiacs).

Fantastic location to escape busy nearby seaside towns, accomodation was basic but eco friendly and has its own charm.what else do you need to relax and rest after all day at the beach? . We had a room on the second floor, the view from the window was great;,meadow and trees .the smell of the lavenders at the evening from the front yeard were truly amazing! The staff member who welcomed us was friendly and polite ,and she showed us around everything. The breakfast was self serviced based ,but my son was excited he could cook his own scrambled eggs in a kids friendly kitchen and had fun doing his own toast in the toaster.everything was really easy reachable and handy in the kitchen and dining area. We were eating breakfast in the communal area where all guest can sit together. We really enjoyed our stay at the court. I genuinely recommend it. It's also worth to visit the small garden opposite the court,it's open 10-4 every day and you can leave small donation in the front if you want to.

Lovely Staff and location. Please come and support this special community to continue offering travellers some where unique to stay. the building is large and it's expensive upkeep, so keep visiting Monkton Wylde. I am sure philanthropic donations would be greatly received to help maintain this little sanctuary in the woods close to the Lyme Regis sea.
