The place is clean. Inside looks newly built/renovated. The glass backdoor and patio was a nice touch, amazing surrounding views. Huge kitchen facility and great number or utensils and appliances for cooking. Beware, it is a shared kitchen. We had an encounter between a group of around 15 people who took over the area and used all the tables and chairs. They were very loud as well. It was an isolated incident though so hopefully won't happen to you. The drive to the lodgings was not pleasant due to the gravel road and the separate check in location was a hassle. Self check in would have been better. The secluded location was creepy at first but it is a perfect get away from city life to have a quiet and peaceful stay.

Beautiful property and accomodations. We had room 24. New, large room, clean and all the amenities we needed. There was a kitchen and eating area where we could warm up some dinnner. We stayed here on our way back from visiting the east side of Dettifoss falls which worked out great. We would highly recommend.

Amazing view and location. Comfortable, roomy and nice guesthouse across the parking lot where you can prepare food.

The cabin we were in was actually 5km away from the main check-in building but the employee was super helpful and gave us the exact location for it on Google maps. The accommodations were clean and comfy with a nice seating area, tv, balcony, and good quality products in the shower. We had a lovely view of the river. The kitchen is less than 100ft away and very spacious for dining.

Si que vi justo el menaje de la cocina , faltaban sartenes y alguna cazuela más. La habitación es una pasada, amplía, moderna y muy limpia. Cuenta con un baño pequeño pero ducha grande. Gran tv en la habitación en la que puedes ver Netflix y prime. Desde este alojamiento salimos para ver las auroras boreales y también las pudimos desde la habitación, una pasada. Lo recomiendo totalmente.

The rooms are fresh and clean, but there is not a lot of room to spread out (family of 3). The shared kitchen facilities (there are two) again while new, are not well equipped. One has a large screen TV. There is a microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher and there are stovetops. Dishwashing liquid was being watered down by guests because it was at the very end of the bottle. Lots of dishes, glassware and pots, but no frying pan. You can of course improvise. I would have expected complimentary coffee and tea service - you can brew coffee but if you didn't bring milk/cream - yikes. Only one tea bag available - and it looked like it had been there for a while. Ditto the dry cereal in plastic containers. We had trouble finding the place as there are flags identifying that there is a hotel but we were not in the right place on the road and we upset private homeowners as we looked around for our unit #. There needs to be proper signage so travellers do not have to guess and puzzle and waste time and call phone numbers posted on unoccupied former premises, all when they are tired and just want to settle down and relax. We really felt this property has a lot of potential - it just needs to be more user friendly.

Really the only bad thing getting there. Several klm of bad gravel road takes you to check in. That’s not where the lodging is. After check in you drive another 8 klm on right gravel to the rooms. We have a small car. The sleeping room was great facing north fir the Northern Lights. Room next to us had outside lights on all night. Community kitchen is great.

The guesthouse was quite a way off the main road on a very bumpy road. This made getting there more difficult, but the location was ideal for seeing the northern lights and to get to the east entrance to Dettifoss. Our room was nice, modern, and very clean. The main issue we had was that it was confusing where to go to check in. The reception is several miles from the guesthouse, but there are no directions given in the Check-in instructions. It was frustrating to have to drive back and forth for miles on the very bumpy road. It is a very nice spot, just be sure to know how to get to the reception to check in.

Einfache, aber saubere Unterkunft. Es stand alles zur Verfügung.

Anfahrt zur Unterkunft schwierig, man bekommt einen separaten Link zugeschickt, das hat aber anfangs über Expedia-Chat nicht funktioniert. Die Bungalows vor Ort sind an sich schön, jedoch nicht gut abgedichtet, es ist sehr kalt und feucht in den Zimmern.

Das Haus und das Zimmer waren sehr schön und super sauber und die Lage bietet beste Vorraussetzungen für Polarlichter, diese konnten wir sogar vom Bett aus sehen. Der Weg zum Haus ist teilweise gesperrt und sehr holprig und nicht befestigt. Das Haus zu finden ist das größere Problem. Die Wegbeschreibung von Expedia führt bei Google Maps zu einem Guesthouse, das wohl geschlossen aber leider auch auf den Bildern zu sehen ist. Wit mussten beim Betreiber nachfragen wo wir denn hin müssen und ob Google Maps das Richtige zeigt. Die Kommunikation war nicht ganz zielführend.

Les locaux sont flambants neufs, la vue de la chambre était parfaite, nous avons même pu voir des aurores boréales. La chambre était super propre et nous n'avons manqué de rien. Très bon accueil. Seul petit point : si vous prenez une chambre avec salle de bain privative, les batiments se trouvent a 6km de la réception.

Good stay for someone wanting to be near Dettifoss. Room was good and clean, but was very small. Also our Wifi didn't work and heat didn't seem to work. But a great stay close to the waterfall which is what we were looking for. Would recommend and would stay again when in the area

After a day of driving and walking through Iceland, we were certain we’d find nothing as we drove down a very empty dirt road. But there it was! The rooms are small and there are some issues with the hot/cold water (at least in room 2), but it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast is prepared by the family that lives near the reception area and owns the hotel for a surcharge. It was plentiful and had a little of everything. The people who own the hotel, however, are absolute gems. Our rental car company gave us a car that was low on oil, making the light turn on. With the closest gas station a half hour away, we started getting nervous as it was a big driving day. The owner checked the oil and filled it for us from his personal stores. He even offered to speak to the rental car company on our behalf to have the price of the oil refunded. If you’re looking for very quiet, remote, clean rooms, Grimstunga is the place to go. If you want to meet some incredibly kind and helpful people, Grimstunga is also the place.

The check-in process was confusing. Check-in was supposed to begin at 3 but the person reception seemed surprised that we wanted to check in that early. After that all was good.

Just wished there wasn’t so many people around. But staff was very friendly and we had some great conversations with the Czech workers.
