Nice, clean hotel and restaurant with pleasant staff. The outside beer garden had play equipment for the children and it was relaxing watching them play while enjoying a tasty meal. The company requested we let them know about anything that could be altered to make our stay more comfortable. Nothing needs to change-simple furnishings, pleasant furnishings, nice restaurant, clean accommodations.

Waited a long time before staff arrived to check us in. The pub had very greasy tiles around the bar and the tables were sticky. My feet were slipping on the tiles. Needs a through clean. Rooms were in a separate building and doesn’t feel terribly safe. Building looked tired and unkept. Once inside, rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. We were staying for two nights. Our room key didn’t work. The second night we arrived back after the pub had closed. Resolved by me running around the outside of the pub building banging on windows to get hold of staff. Stressful.

Lovely fresh hotel & restaurant, staff were absolutely lovely and welcoming. Rooms were spacious and clean, only slight questionable was some staining on wall & bed base but otherwise the room was nice & clean & beds very comfy. Beds were very well made. No noise heard from outside at all, very quiet. We had dinner and breakfast in the red squirrel & found it all delicious, fairly priced & again the staff were so lovely, efficient and cheery. Didn’t catch names but genuinely nice folk. Will definitely return for another holiday!

This is a good place for an overnight stay and I have used it on a number of occasions. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Food is available in the main building but there is also a choice of other take-away places next door. The issues are fairly minor - the TV only had BBC1 and BBC2 available, no ITV or freeview. And the shower curtain is too short. The actual shower over the bath is great but because the curtain is too short water goes all over the floor. Would definitely stay here again - just sort out the minor issues.

Think work on the WiFi in the hotel and the restaurant needs to be done as could barely load a webpage up. Hotel room needs bit of painting as scuff marks on walls. Bath plug broke off as tried to pull it out. Number to call to sort things the guy was clearly not in a good mood whatsoever the sigh and groan I got when I said I needed it sorted was clearly not in the mood. The red squirrel roast dinner is always a treat me and the kids love so food is great just need a bit of work on the above

The on line advance check in process was highly frustrating to the point that I gave up after 3 attempts of repeated requests to put in the booking code whereupon it just kept resending new codes without accepting the code just sent. it was supposed to save time In the end checking in at the reception desk could not have been simpler and easier with an extremely nice and efficient lady Apart from the above a most pleasant if somewhat brief stay

This is second time we have stayed there ok for a one night stay but would probably not stay more than one night Staff were friendly but this time felt rushed to order what we wanted to eat even though it was not busy and didn’t seem to be to the same standard as the last time we were there so overall disappointed

The booking was for my elderly mother in law and the team were particularly helpful in assisting her when she looked herself out of her room, providing an additional key for her daughter to take of. They also happily printed off the boarding pass for her return journey.

Rooms are in a separate building to the pub/restaurant. Reception is located in the pub, a few minutes walk from the hotel entrance. Not ideal when it is torrential rain outside (got soaked). 2 mins walk to Greggs, KFC, Dominos if you fancy food from any of those establishments. Drive through Costa also on site.

We stopped off at this location on our way to ferry to Arran. Didn’t realise that best access was by car so ended up walking from rail station.Disappointed that it was the type of place it was. In the Red squirrel pub there was a reception which was staffed when necessary- by the reception there was a seat with a gash in the upholstery and what looked like salt in a heap on the seat. When we went for a meal I asked for a location which was not in view of a TV. Even though there were not that many guest this was tricky- I was told we could not go to one area which had been prepared for a function - it looked very nice. We were offered a table out of the way as long as we could cope with a wobbly table ! It was so wobbly when the drinks were served they were put on a window sill at the side of the table! The room was ok but there was no soap in the over sink holder. There was no stool for luggage to be placed on.

Rooms are great, food is terrible. Breakfast is incredibly poor, and service not much better. Mixed messages from staff regarding eggs availability ( some said yes, then others said no when taking irder) so deduce the chef couldnt be bothered cooking any so told staff to tell customers there were none due to shortage. Food took 45 mins to arrive at the table which is ridiculously long, especially with toddlers waiting. When it arrived the pastries were burnt black. Milk is rationed to an espresso cup full perperson for cereal and hot drinks. Breakfast portiones rationed, black pudding slices split in two, slices were about 5mm wide. Butter rationed, 1 portion for two slices of toast. No tomatoes or mushrooms. 6 staff members on but noone asked us how things were or if we needed top up. We were charged extra although has already paid for brekkie. If i had known morrisons was so close id have gone there for brekkie.
