The Golden Pheasant

Noise from below during first part of noght - perhaps fridge compressor in kitche; car park not gritted was quite dangerous. Otherwise excellent. Thank you.

Tranquil location set amongst the beautiful Cheshire countryside close to knutsford and lower peover and tatton park I was satisfied with the food and selection on the menu

Perfect stay in this beautiful pub/hotel. Rooms comfortable and look wonderful. Food and drinks in pub/restaurant excellent, lovely atmosphere. Would definitely stay again.

A very pleasant stay! Lovely large room and the bar and restaurant was great. Comfortable bed and good shower. They even made me food after the kitchen was closed. Only negative was the mini single use plastic shower gels and shampoos. Refillable soap and shampoo dispensers would make it perfect!

Check in and first night hospitality was excellent. Welcoming,quiet and cozy atmosphere by the wood fire. Easy conversation with other guests with great tips on local points of interest. We slept well all 3 nights. Some concerns, breakfast is 7-9 prepaid the day before, so we opted in the first morning which we didn't do again as, there was one server for the whole dining room. At 8am, there was little left of the continental offerings and my Benedict was stone cold from the kitchen.

Nice staff, very friendly, room was veey spacious including the bathroom. We liked the decor, but the smell feom the bathroom was awful, definite needs addressing. Has ev charge points, nice location. Would stay again but smell is a bit off putting.

Staff were ok, very standard. The premises was quite big and there were about 5 cars parked so I can’t imagine business is great. The decor was super old, not shabby chic, just shabby, all dark wood and like it’d come from a charity shop, which is probably due to the size of the premises and furniture needed to fill the place. The wood was very worn on everything from the cupboards to the bannisters and doors. Shower was ok. The TV was small and so far from the bed that the remote barely worked. We didn’t get a login for the internet. The room was cold and it was quite noisy until about 11pm. The guest entrance looked like it was just off the latch and open all night as it was beeping late at night and same in the morning when we walked past. Breakfast was pretty poor, the vegetarian breakfast came without the veggie sausage, the full English was tasteless, both went unfinished, the waitress didn’t even crack a smile but did bring us milk with floating bits in it and eventually brought some sauce. Overall, a fairly miserable experience and there’s no way this place was worth the cost, we stayed at somewhere nearby a week earlier which was far better and far cheaper. We think someone defrosted the car for us in the morning, so that was a small bonus, probably for the quick getaway though to be fair.

Nice comfortable stay breaking up a long journey. Staff and locals were friendly and helpful. Had a great evening meal by the fire, a comfortable night and a good breakfast. Will definitely stay there again.

Beautiful location and beer garden. Rooms were ok but very tiered, in need of a freshen up and dragging out if the 1980's. Please remove the horrible net curtains, they are filthy! Apart from the room, everything else was lovely. Brilliant service from all staff members, check in was friendly and all bar and waiting on staff were wonderful.

The staff are very helpful and polite, unfortunately the room is clean but tired, comfortable but not as advertised on the website when we booked no walk-in shower either. The evening meal was very nice and good selection again staff very friendly and helpful. The noise was from the road at the front as we needed the window open

The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. We were in room 2 which was noisy because of nearby mechanical noises (we were told it was the cellar). There was no soap provided so we had to use shower gel. Recently decorated walls, unfortunately spoiled by damp / mould on a part of outside wall. Bathroom extractor fan not working.

The standard of decor in some of the public areas needs refurbishing. The stairs and corridor look a little tired. My room was adequate but, unfortunately, it was located above the kitchen/restaurant in and out doors which constantly banged. The room had no view other than over the kitchen roof. The TV was thick with dust and the remote barely worked. The bathroom was dull in both lighting and spec. I know that JW Lees can be better! Unfortunately, the restaurant service was poor as the young waitress appeared to have no help whilst the restaurant was busy. I had been sitting at a table for more than 20 minutes before I even received an acknowledgement! With a small improvement in the attention to detail, the Golden Pheasant could be much better. I would return but definitely not to room!

Cannot fault staff, pub or food. However the room, while a good size needed a more thorough cleaning. Dusty and carpet needs cleaning.

I expected better quality of room for the price. Squeaky floorboards, varnish flaking off the tired looking wardrobe, missing sealant around shower panel, lots of cobwebs in top corner of bathroom. Food was excellent though and staff very helpful and polite.

Great comfortable stay. Had a meal in the pub which was very good and a nice atmosphere. Room was a clean but could do with a little updating. However would definitely stay again.

Room was very spacious and well equipped. I arrived a little late for food and even though the kitchen was closed they did offer to make sandwiches and chips for me which was a nice gesture. Would like to stay again as menu looked awesome.

I don’t understand why they would do this so early when you have residential guests? The walls are also very thin, so I was kept away by the noise of people talking, then planes and bin. I literally had about two hours sleep. They all also didn’t serve breakfast before 7:30 am which on a weekday is just too late, also felt the room rate for the experience was a little bit high. Although the room was nice, it was a little dated in the bathroom was quite tired. I would return for a meal and a drink, but unfortunately I wouldn’t stay there again.

Short staffed and even though we were acknowledged as soon as we arrived we had to wait for 5mins before anyone came to check us in. They had walked past us to say they would be a minute but instead went to serve several people at the bar.

Excellent staff and service just needs some TLC.

Excellent. Staff all treated me like each alone was the owner.

The staff members were so amazingly helpful and friendly. As a solo traveler with a cane I struggle with stairs and excessive walking but the staff helped me to my room when I arrived and Katen even helped we all the way to the train platform across the way when I left. While this location is remote the charm and guality mke it a beautiful destination stay and the food was to die for. I had one minor issue in my room and they resolved it while I was out so 5/5

Great location, friendly helpful staff, good service. The shower screen was short of the side of the bath so flooded the bathroom and soaked my towel. This definitely needs attention.

Lovely location have family live in Northwich so nice place to meet up. Came for a family occasion in Sale so didn't feel it was too far away from everyone and I prefer a country setting to stay in . Perfect for us .

Brilliant stay, happy friendly staff great breakfast, would have been a 10 but my evening meal fish and chips was really poor, batter hard as nails dry fish way way over cooked, what a pitty! Other than that very good will defo be back next month,
