Candlewood Suites Pensacola - University Area by IHG

We have stayed here about 4 times while family has been working on Pensacola. Staff has been great thru all shifts, rooms are clean, equipped with clean, working appliances. Pool was also very clean and same for bathrooms.

Swimming area was clean water was a perfect temperature

I was coming out from an ICU discharge for 5 broken ribs and when we got to the hotel there was no elevator and he put us in the highest floor. After discussing the situation he put us in the 2nd floor which was better but not good enough given the high level of pain. Many trips up and down for my 70 year old husband to get our things in and out of the room. That is the ONLY reason for my 3 stars.

Clean suite, dishaware all provided . Reading area in the wait room to grab books , washing machine and dryer .

Very clean and easy check in, but do know furry friends add an extra $25 per pet to fees upon check in. We were surprised by this as I didn’t see it anywhere while booking through Expedia, and had to fork out an extra $50 only to sleep there and check out the next morning. BIG bummer! Other than that, would recommend.

Reasonable price, full kitchen and laundry as well as pool with covered patio

Room was good and quiet. We had trouble getting towels at times. There is no free breakfast, but there is a free laundry room which helped us get stuff dry after a day at the beach. The people that worked there were nice.

The room was very clean and spacious! Free washer and dryer’s came in handy after the beach and pool. The staff was very nice and friendly! I will visit this hotel in the future!!

Nice stay, free laundry and a place to grill out. Pool was small but nice. Full kitch in my room was nice. Elevator was broke so we had to haul up to the 3rd floor which was annoying. Should have gotta discount for that. Sold 10+ minute drive to Pensacola Beach.

Elevator was broke the entire time and I was on the 4th floor. I had to carry bags up and down 4 flights of stairs every day. I also got stuck on the elevator when there was no out of order sign on the outside of the doors.

Close to all activities. Nice. Hair was in shower and razor cap on bathroom floor making it apparent that the bathroom wasn’t cleaned too well.

Room was spacious and very clean. Everything provided for an extended stay. Service representative at front desk was nice and accommodating. No issues during my one week stay. Would definitely stay again

When I got to my room there was so much hair in the tub. It didn’t look as though it had been cleaned. The staff was kind enough to move me to another room. When I got to the other room the cable was out. The room had a musty smell. The hotel is located about 200 feet from a rundown shopping center with homeless people all around. But it’s it’s about 1 mile from the interstate.

Hotel room reeked. The smell was horrible. The room itself was filthy. Sink filthy splatters on the doors. Heard staff talking about how the security camera wasn’t working. I was shocked the ac sounded like cars on a racetrack. It was disgusting dirty and smelly. I’ll never stay at nor recommend this hotel to anyone.

Everything was great and clean besides something that was left in dresser from a previous customer with room that was not check off with maids.

Convenient to the airport, bed was OK but roaches came out at night

Most conditions of the room were good. Except for the floors, they were filthy. My feet & socks were black.

The hotel was not bad overall. We traveled with our fur family member and the hotel welcomed him. The room itself was ok. The carpet had a few stains, but nothing too major. My issue, which is huge for me, is the bathroom. The light switch had a “chocolate” looking smudge that obviously hadn’t been cleaned by housekeeping. The bathroom walls were filthy with dirt and stains. The bathroom is a very important factor for me, which is the reason for my not so great rating. I didn’t hate the place, i just wish the bathroom didn’t creep me out.

The property and staff were good, my only issue with the room was that the floor was a laminate floor and it seemed to be damp(very humid )feeling in the entire room both days we were there even though the air conditioning was running what seemed to be normal. The hand towels and our shower towels that were hung up after use stayed damp the whole time and never dried . The floor was not clean completely either because I walked around once during the night in socks and they were dirty afterwards. The beds were less than comfortable as well, felt like sleeping on a piece of plywood with a thin layer of foam covering it. Not what I would expect to find in any middle to upper class hotel.

Clean and nice size room but double bed instead of queen. Nice kitchen with full size refrigerator and dishwasher.

One of our best most comfortable stays. It is a older motel. Rooms have been updated but nothing fancy, and are neat and comfortable. We had a suite and it was larger than really needed newer flooring, and had more room space than we needed in the room. Nice larger refrigerator and microwave. Very convenient to every thing. We stayed 6 days and enjoyed pool also. Would definitely stay again.

The room was clean and spacious. Good size tv. Had shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soap, lotion. Could hear people walking in room above.

The hotel rooms are spacious with full kitchen (appliances, dishes, utensils, etc.) and good size bathroom. Staff was helpful when we had minor issues like needing towels. I enjoy being in rooms without carpet flooring, so that was a plus for me. About a 15 minute drive from the beach. I would stay here again!

Thin walls! Not enough sound barrier between floors….people stomping around at 6:00 am overhead on Sunday morning…ridiculous.

I love this hotel, this is gonna be my go to hotel when traveling I love that it has a mini kitchen area, and everything it's kind of like a little studio apartment.

When I arrived they stated "they were just talking about me" then proceeded to give me a room that was not anything like what I had booked. The manager said to me "that's what happens when you book third party" Refused to refund me and laughed when I said I was calling corporate. Saving grace, the hotel was disgusting

The property is nice and convenient. Jorge on the front desk is excellent: professional, knowledgeable and courteous.

On check in, front desk staff member was not welcoming and did not greet me upon arrival. I approached the desk and without even making eye contact, he said “yes”! There was no “hello, how can I help you” or “welcome to candlewood, how may I assist you”…I felt like I was invading someone’s space as I entered the property! I am an IHG reward member and have been for over 20 years and have NEVER felt what I felt here at this property! I had a second rude encounter the following day when I asked where I could find towels for the pool. A different man was at the front desk and responded rudely and I was really surprised by this! However, upon checkout, there was a woman at the front desk who was extremely polite and courteous! You need more staff like her because the first 2 staff members would be a reason that I not ever visit your establishment again nor recommend it to others!

Front desk was very efficient at getting me checked in as quickly as possible. The property itself is quiet and the staff members are respectful and polite.

First time at this location we were in town to enjoy a beach trip. The ppl at the front desk where some what friendly but not much. They didn't speak much when you came in or out. On the last day of our stay I noticed that we needed towels I remember seeing the workers in the hall that morning and I thought they had cleaned up and brought fresh towels but upon calling the front desk I was told they dont do that. We were looking to get a shower before hitting the road I was told we had to bring all the towels and rags to the front desk to get more then was told by front desk there where no more!!! We had been to the beach everyday there was sand everywhere wet and wet towels. This hotel is a bit pricey to be having all this going on. To top it off they dont service breakfast either. When I was checking out the heavy set guy on 7/20 at 11:30 ish he didnt speak he didnt ask how my stay was or nothing! The bed are hard and uncomfortable! The pillowcases smelled liked they hadn't been wased in days! The guy at the front desk also told me they only clean linen every seven days. So if you're stay is longer than that everyday you gotta walk your wet towels and rans to the front desk to get more and on the 7th day they will clean your room and so called change the sheets! That absurd! Needless to say this was my first time in Pensacola and wont be my last but will definitely be my last at this hotel! Ive been in worst hotels with breakfast and A-1 customers service. Honest review!

Great place to stay. I loved the suite. I had enough room to work, fridge, and coffee pot. Shower was good and beds were comfortable. Staff was very kind and courteous.

The service was wonderful. The staff was fantastic. The room was very clean. I was strongly recommend any of my friends family and friends to stay at the candlewood. It is a very nice hotel.

Absolute terrible customer service. We had a room for an entire week we couldn’t utilize because the hotel refused to clean it.. And yet they also wouldn’t give our money back.

I didn't like the homeless people that were in proximity to the property. Although they were not on the property, they were in view upon entering or leaving the premises. This was the only issue I had. Overall, it was a great stay.

I loved my stay at the Candlewood in Pensacola! Excellent staff and clean, comfortable room. The only thing is that there are a ton of homeless people just kind of hanging out right in front of the hotel (just off of the hotel’s actual property right outside the parking lot) and it is a little unnerving, but this is not the hotel’s fault. Overall I liked the area, very convenient to everything. I would definitely stay here again.

Stopped for night on our way to Fort Lauderdale. Clean and safe. Right off highway. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Very comfortable, great access to interstate and downtown.

This is my second stay at this hotel. The staff is friendly and the rooms were cleaned. I enjoyed both my stays will use it again. The only thing I don’t like is they do not service breakfast

The front desk person Jay was very nice. I didn't like the noise level that could heard throughthe walls and that no breakfast is served at the hotel.

Great place, very clean, late check in was great, no hot breakfast but there’s a little store that has just about everything. Will absolutely stay again on business.

Hotel was very clean. Would be nice if they offered free breakfast and if the coffee was in the lobby. Also room was freezing. AC was set on 60. Other than that, the hotel is very nice and clean. Staff was very friendly.
