Day at the races, nice on racecourse hotel with parking. Not sure if you are better staying in town as the course is a bit of a walk into town and there is nothing much near the hotel when the racing has finished.

Easy and fast check in, friendly reception staff. Free parking. Not easy to drive in though due to barriers, a little confusing! Clean, comfortable, modern and noise levels were reasonable too. Good value and close to the town centre. Can't fault much at all. Would stay again.

Easy check in. Lift wasn't working and on the second floor which was a bit annoying otherwise ok.

I stayed there for one night for leasure reasons and am more than happy with the value for money. I was a bit "put out" when i arrived to check in and was greeted by a half eaten donner kebab on the reception desk and no staff but they did appear fairly promply and apologised for the kebab. The hotel room was fine in terms of size and had lots of mains sockets a very comfortable bed and useful bedside lights. Despite being a faily warm summers evening (in my opinion) the room was a reasonable temperarure and an electric fan had been left in the room for uae as needed. There were tea and coffee making facilities but no work desk so (again imho) im not sure how good this would be if i had to stay there for work purpoaes. I wasnt a fan of the small window which was treated in such a way that you could not really see out unless you looked through one of the holes in the treatment film however given the hotel is located between two apartment buildings i accept thia may be for privacy of both apartment residents and hotel guests alike but it did make it feel a bit claustrophobic. Hotel well signposted and easy to find. Good free parking next to hotel.

Enjoyed our stay, but evening menu very limited. Facilities clean and staff extremely helpful.

The rooms were very clean but the bathrooms needs a bit of a spruce up. The staff were absolutely lovely. From reception to the bar, everyone was really kind and helpful. The bar was comfortable and we enjoyed sitting there in the evening.

Always well looked after when I stay here. Clean accommodation and welcoming staff. Breakfast is great and parking ideal if you go racing. Will be back soon

Very good stay, gentleman very helpful on desk providing info for a future stay BUT we were not told about free access to the very local gym - we didn’t see this until the morning we left on the info screen.

The property is fairly clean until you look more closely. The bathroom had mold and the room itself was very tiny, but the price was very reasonable. Staff was great. Food selections are very limited.

A very comfortable hotel with attentive and polite staff. Attention to detail around cleanliness of rooms could have been better. Lots of dust in corners and toilet/bathroom a little lacking in detail.

Excellent value for money stay in easy distance of the Watermill Theatre. Staff were friendly and hotel had nice horse racing touches. Room was dusty but comfortable.

Cleanliness needs more attention to detail. Plug hole cover broke resulting in excess water in shower tray and someone else’s hair in the shower plug hole. Fan dusty so did not use and all surfaces should be wiped over

Staff fantastic! Room cleanliness - mainly dust could do with some attention. Had a look in the basket above the clothes hanging rail and never seen so much dust on the spare towels / hairdryer. The wires hanging down from the TV covered in dust too. Rest of the room spotless!

Nice quiet stay apart from sound of the train.cobwebs around window and bathroom a little cramped. But clean and comfy bed

Arrived, dropped off luggage and went out On returning to room terrible sewage smell in room No problem to be moved and was given an upgraded room What did disappoint us was we were wakened by noisy people chatting/shouting in the corridor and was very loud This was at 6AM

Bed was very comfortable. Looked like a super king size. Unfortunately it was too big for the room which made it cramped. Breakfast was good. Other choices in the dining area were not brilliant. Staff were very pleasant and obliging. Good for an overnight stay.

Room very cramped, fan not adequate and no air conditioning. Small cramped bathroom only had showerhead so very difficult to shower without wetting hair. Floor seemed to have problems as very soft underneath vynal. Only 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel for us as couple. Didn’t have room cleaned after first night but asked for in second day. Didn’t changed towels nor sis they even clean the bathroom sink! Just about changed the quilt cover Overall not a good place to stay we nearly even didn’t stay the last night! Drinks are very expensive we had a large and small lime and soda and cost nearly £8 Would never recommend this place! Good 20 minutes walk into Newbury

Nice hotel. Room very clean, very basic furniture. Very small room and bathroom but ok for one night stay on my own. Not sure it’s big enough for a couple with suitcases as nowhere to put them at all. Literally a walkway round the bed but no extra room front or sides.

We stayed her for 2 nights to attend a family wedding near by Room wS clean and tidy and has coffee and tea making facilities in the room Good shower and a hair dryer Our only criticism was no air-conditioning as it was very hot they do supply a large upright fan with helped a bit but really its the only thing we could find fault with this hotel Thebreakfast was good and nicely cooked and came out on hot plates ! So i would recommend here for a weedend stay

Room too small

Good priced room, paid a little exta for a slighly larger room as the standard rooms are swamped by the superking bed! No duver just a sheet and thin cover ober the top so had to turn the heating on. Ate in the hotel restaurant, beef curry was tasty but small portion and naan bread was over cooked and rock hard. Other peoples pizzas looked and smelt good though! All staff were excellent.

Perfect location for Newbury racecourse. Small room but adequate for our needs and price paid. Very confy bed!

The hotel was reasonable but not outstanding - the room was smaller than expected and it was disappointing that security had parked in the disabled bay which I could have done with using as a blue badge holder. The staff were however friendly and accommodating. The rooms were not as quiet as I would have liked and I was woken twice in the night once by a door being opened and once from snoring and the toilet being used by the room next door. The room would benefit from a desk and chair and free WiFi for the duration of the stay not just 8 hours a day. I would return for pleasure I would not return for business.

Great location, easy to walk into town, helpful staff - especially as there was some confusion about which postcode to use for the satnav, lovely room, great breakfast..!

The rooms were very basic and in general there is some TLC needed throughout. They were selling a vegan meal with brioche buns with dairy in them. Which they did not even realise. There was a fire alarm at 6am which one staff member said what again. Also there could have been better communication during a fire alarm. Which is worrying. The reception staff were though really friendly.

One of the most disastrous hotel stays I’ve ever had, The Lodge is a modern hotel that lacks good design or sensible management. We booked here so that my family could have an accessible room. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff was friendly. Rooms are small, especially for a modern hotel, and are a quite worn, probably by raucous race-goers. The fixtures are wobbly on the walls, and the toilets barely flush. Breakfast is hearty if you want a Full English, and otherwise filling if you opt for Continental. The dining area has music playing, along with the blare of multiple televisions, so meals aren’t a relaxing experience. Parking is plentiful, but the hotel is a bit far from anything. You’ll need to drive 10 mins to get to a grocery store or the restaurants in town. Finally, our final night at the hotel there was only one person on shift. She was responsible for managing the front desk, tending bar, and cooking food, serving it, and bussing. She was understandably overwhelmed. It doesn’t make sense that any manager would leave a young woman to do all that alone. I and other guests jumped in to pour drinks and clean dishes. What a mess! When another staff member arrived to help out, there weren’t any “thank yous” handed out, and I was made to feel that my presence washing dishes was unwanted. It’s a shame that such a new hotel has been run so poorly. Don’t stay here if you have other options.

Amazing Lady On Reception/Bar...Very Helpful And Courteous

Excellent stay at the lodge, very clean with friendly staff. Excellent breakfast, worth paying the extra for. Our water supply to the room was low with no hot water. Once reported, it was immediately seen to without delay. 2 disadvantage, the room was small with no draw space for underwear or tops.

Staff are amazing couldn’t do enough for you. We had problems getting there. They were amazing on the phone helping with directions. Room was lovely. Breakfast was really good I can see lady works hard. Lovely too have a proper cooked breakfast especially tomato

I arrived around 8pm. Waited ages to find anyone to check me in. When i was in the room, the table with the coffee, tea and Kettle on was exceptionally wobbly. Dangerous if you're trying to make a drink. The bathroom wreaked of sewage. I was only there a few days so i kept the door closed and put up with it. Came back into the room after being out all day. The bed had been made (Well just pulled the quilt over) The towels were in the same position when I left them, They could have been refolded, just to give the impression the room has been cleaned properly.

We got a post code for this hotel from Expedia. Then we were texted another post code which we used. Then we could not get through the barriers so were given a third postcode and had to make a big detour to be able to access the hotel and car park

Stayed here for the horse racing, right next to the racecourse which was brilliant, lovely warm room which was excellent considering it was February, overall a great time was had staying at this hotel.

This is perfectly located for a business trip because my head office is based just on the opposite side of the train tracks which lie near to the hotel but the hotel is clean safe well equipped and very quiet

Lovely greeting on arrival from Edna, All staff were very friendly and helpfull, good price its a shame our breakfast was cold .

Disappointed with the fish and chips as it was just frozen oven fish which was tasteless and bland. It's a cashless place to stay so card only. The bed was lovely and comfortable

Staff were excellent. Hotel is a bog standard 3 star hotel. Small rooms and very small shower, but basically what I’d expect from modern day hotels. Only real downside was the food offering, hence the 3 stars. No one told us the hotel doubled up as the stable lads canteen on race days! We were told we couldn’t access the cafe/bar area until 6.45 as they were using it. When we were allowed in we ordered a pizza and a burger. We waited an hour and no food arrived! We were told it would be 5 minutes, but then found out they hadn’t even started to cook our order, so we cancelled and got our money back.
