What a bargain. Friendly efficient staff. Place is clean and well kept. It’s not a posh hotel but does what it does really well. On-site 24 hour cafe too for those arriving late. I’d definitely book again.

This was an excellent place to stay for exploring Northumberland. It is right of the A1 with a petrol station nearby and several Tesla chargers on the site also! Despite being so close to the road the rooms are very quiet. The staff are very friendly and cheery and everything seems to run smoothly. Super breakfasts included. Next door is a great cafe with really good food and drinks at excellent prices- serving hot food (from fish and chips to lasagnes or roast, or giant Yorkshire puddings with various fillings!) highly recommended. Easy drives of less than 30mins to Lindesfarne or Seahouses. Perfect!

Light bright rooms, overlooking fields with castle & sea in the distance. Plenty of parking at front of building. Sraff extremely helpful. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice both cold & cooked. There is an onsite cafe adjouning hotel which was ideal. They served hot & cold dishes, variety of sandwiches, cakes, puds etc. It is open 24/7 & used by passersby on A1. Very central for trips to Bamburgh, Seahouses, Lindisfarne etc. We would definitely recommend & will be making a return jorney for sure as still lots to explore.

Excellent base for touring Northumberland, exceptionally clean, staff all go above and beyond to help, nothing is too much trouble. Stayed for 1 night on our way to Scotland. Great hotel, lovely people. There’s a 24hour café next to the hotel so we had food in there. Breakfast was spot on. Great value for money

We stayed for 2 nights with our little dog. We loved how dog friendly Purdy Lodge is. We were able to have breakfast, lunch and dinner with her which really meant alot to us. Purdy Lodge understand that some people do not like dogs so there are 2 seating areas, one for dog owners and the other for non dog people. This made us even more comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly and also extremely busy. The room was lovely with a nice view down to the sea and Bamburgh Castle. The hotel is very conveniently located just off the A1 which makes getting to places very easy. I expected to hear road noise in the hotel, but didnt hear it at all. We'll definitely be back. I'd recommend Purdy Lodge to anyone, especially those who, like us, see their dog as part of the family.

Good value for money stay. Friendly staff. Exterior seating area too small, shabby, and right next to the A1 and adjoining lorry park. Limited relaxation area away from a very small and limited interior. Didn't detract from our stay though and would visit again

Generally speaking, this was great value for money and incredibly close to Alnwick castle and Bamburgh castle. The staff were always very polite and helpful. The only main gripe I had was it looked like the cleaning staff didn't have a vacuum cleaner. The floor of the dining area would still have dirt on it from the evening meal the night before and even though our room had been cleaned twice during our stay, there were small stones at the foot of our bed on the floor that were there when we arrived and still there when we left. One other gripe was the spoons for tea, or yoghurt, they seemed to have a limited supply and they were often dirty. My wife and I often had to stir our tea with a spoon and then wipe it off and use it for a yoghurt. Still, I would highly recommend Purdy Lodge for a stay, I just wish they would clean a little better.

Te food and the staff were very nice, however the room could have been cleaner especially the bathroom the shower head and the taps were disgusting and the bath had a dirty ring all round where it hadn’t been cleaned properly

On walking in room 7 there was a terrible smell even though the window was fully open. I walked back to reception and explained the smell was bad in the room and asked for another room. Was given a key for room 5. Room didn't have the awful smell of the other room and although was basic and a bit tired looking we settled into room. After an hour we went for an evening meal in the restaurant which was ok. We then returned to the room only to open the door and be hit with the same awful smell that had been in the other room! Was coming from the bathroom so we shut the toilet lid, blocked up the sink hole and put a towel over the shower drain. Couldn't get rid of the smell but as it was quite late we just stayed in the room hoping the smell would go, window was fully open. The smell didn't go, it was smelly all night but did start to go when we woke around 6am. Didnt sleep well mainly due to smell and having to have window open quite wide. Must of been a problem with the drains. We ended up leaving hotel by 6.30am and did'nt bother with breakfast as we were fed up. With hindsight we should of requested a refund and gone elsewhere. Lady on reception was friendly enough but smell really spoilt our stay.

This was my first time in hotel.stayed two days.bar staff was amazing,cafe’s not so much.. our room window was very hard to open ,no sockets near bed so was an issue to charge phone when resting in bed.very cold when we came as heating was off.blood stains on pillow,carpet not hovered (worked as supervisor in 5stars hotel so I know the drill ).we came Friday and left Sunday,room was not cleaned on Saturday.

Very convenient for travelling around the area as it’s on the A1. No noise from the road or much from other rooms. Staff all very friendly and breakfast good. Only niggle is bed very soft and squeaky when moving around but other people might like a soft mattress.

Surprisingly quiet despite being off the A1 the front of the property is a corridor to the rooms which offers sound protection from the A1 . The rooms overlooked a nice field with a view of the sea. The staff were friendly and a decent restaurant on site .

Small rooms with very thin walls so very noisy especially as a lot of work people stay there and start leaving at about 5.30. the staff were very friendly and the food was good for the money. I didn't realise it was right on the edge of the A1 when I booked it would rate it as 3 star.

Hotel is fine for the price, staff are good and it is clean and well ran, the only thing is the noise from other rooms, all the doors seem to bang shut at all hours and people having conversations in the corridors at 4am didn’t help

Check was smooth but was not hapoy my card details were taken despite having already paid. Advised this was in case I ran a tab up 😞 Room was tired and dated, mattress so worn it had body indents either side with ridge in the middle, most uncomfortable! Bathroom was also dated with shower being a fair trickle at best. However the Room was clean, staff were pleasant and it was handy for what I needed.

The room rate was great for the area. Beds were comfortable and overlooked fields of wheat, and views of Bamburgh castle in the distance. Considering the location next to a busy road it was quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful when a bath mat was requested. Beds were comfortable and the room had all the basics. Bathroom was small but nothing out of the standard for a hotel of this price bracket. I had the cooked veggie breakfast which was tasty and a good sized portion.

Excellent, attentive staff. Excellent facilities for disabled guests including an emergency alarm which we inadvertently set off. Staff immediately responded and did a welfare check. Very impressive.

We stayed 2 nights and the location was good however not enough staff through no fault of there’s they was one person doing bar reception and taking food orders while they remained professional our order been taken was quite a while .. the building is a little tired and could maybe do with a spruce up but having said that we would go again

The hotel was clean and tidy, the staff were polite, helpful and friendly nothing was too much for them. The location was good and the food was excellent and reasonably priced along with fast friendly service. I would recommend staying there, it’s central to most places on the Northumberland coast line

We stayed here last year and booked again for this year, and it didnt disappoint. Its in a great location off the A1, perfect for Northumberland or as a stop off for Scotland. The staff are genuine, friendly and so helpful. The breakfast is just fantastic, all cooked to order; tasty and well presented.

We were incredibly disappointed when we arrived to this “4 ⭐️ Hotel” which is actually a maximum 2 star Motel on the side of the A1 right next to a 24/7 petrol station and an HGV stop. We have booked a room for an overnight stay on Hotels.com - who refused to publish my review as it wasn’t a 5⭐️ one as all of the others - which by the way I can not understand. This is false advertising at its best. All of the pictures on Hotels.com are displaying a hotel in a lovely rural setting, overlooking at fields with Bamburgh Castle at the background but instead we have found ourselves on the side of one of the UK’s busiest highways with the added petrol station traffic, EV chargers and all the lorries on top. After a quick inspection of our room which was dated, cramped and filled with cobwebs we decided not to stay and handed the keys back to the reception staff who was very pleasant and understanding. I would like to warn others who are looking for a country escape in the beautiful Northumberland area, not to book at Purdy Lodge because they will be truly disappointed. However, for travellers looking for a quick night rest this might do. Unfortunately this wasn’t our case so we headed back home after a quick stroll around the castle which almost made the 6.5 hour round trip worth it 😁
We were incredibly disappointed when we arrived to this “4 ⭐️ Hotel” which is actually a maximum 2 star Motel on the side of the A1 right next to a 24/7 petrol station and an HGV stop. We have booked a room for an overnight stay on Hotels.com - who refused to publish my review as it wasn’t a 5⭐️ one as all of the others - which by the way I can not understand. This is false advertising at its best. All of the pictures on Hotels.com are displaying a hotel in a lovely rural setting, overlooking at fields with Bamburgh Castle at the background but instead we have found ourselves on the side of one of the UK’s busiest highways with the added petrol station traffic, EV chargers and all the lorries on top. Overnight stay with grandkids and two dogs. Service brilliant staff were rushed off their feet but mega friendly and helpful. Bed way too soft, work up with stiff back! But overall great little stop over.

Had a meal in the restaurant and it was awful, not one member of staff came to check if things were okay or did they come and ask if we needed more drinks, desert, nothing , missed out on upselling to at least 3 other customers. When I went to pay bill and said my meal was unedable ( dry ,tough and chewy chicken!!) The staff literally just looked at each other and presented me with my bill and said nothing.

Can highly recommend the Purdy Lodge, even though located on A1 all the bedrooms face the fields behind the building so very quiet. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the breakfast was amazing on both days we stayed. Beds very comfortable and room clean. Great location for visiting Bamburgh Castle, Seahouses & many more sights in the area.

Light bright rooms, overlooking fields with castle & sea in the distance. Plenty of parking at front of building. Sraff extremely helpful. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice both cold & cooked. There is an onsite cafe adjouning hotel which was ideal. They served hot & cold dishes, variety of sandwiches, cakes, puds etc. It is open 24/7 & used by passersby on A1. Very central for trips to Bamburgh, Seahouses, Lindisfarne etc. We would definitely recommend & will be making a return jorney for sure as still lots to explore.

Easy to find motel style hotel, just off A1, with plenty of parking. Room looked out towards the coast. Convenient for visiting Bamburgh, Alnwick and Berwick on Tweed. Excellent breakfast. Food available all day long.

Don,t be put off by the inclusion of services in the address. It's a lovely site with everything you need. Its location is great for exploring nearby sites such as Babburgh and Holy Island. Recommended.

Had an excellent 4 night stay here. Many national trust and heritage sites were a short drive away. Breakfast was lovely and very well organised every morning. Full English breakfast was delicious and served very quickly. We had a meal at the restaurant one evening and the burgers were really tasty too. The staff are all friendly and service is efficient. Considering the place is next to the A1 it wasn't that busy on the road and we couldn't hear the road noise from our room even with the window open which was great. Lovely view over the countryside at the back too. Beds were really comfy and the room was pleasant with lots of tea, coffee and biscuits in the room. Only things to note was the shower water pressure was quite low and the door was a bit tricky to lock but otherwise it was a brilliant place to stay and would highly recommend- I would definitely stay again!

Purdy Lodge was the perfect base for our 5 day stay in Northumberland. The property is well located, just off the A1. The room was good, given the price. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly at all times - they have clearly been well trained to be very customer focused. The breakfast options were excellent and the food very tasty and well presented. The evening meal options - on the restaurant and the cafe - were excellent and the meals were very tasty and well presented. Overall, Purdy Lodge was brilliant.

Staff were excellent and couldn’t do enough for us, breakfast was lovely. Great for kids. Room was perfect for a short stay. Lovely and quiet considering on a main road. Plenty of plugs in room and good facilities. We also took our pooch who was most welcome, We will be back :)
