It was located close enough to my car dealership. Had lots of shopping nearby. The room was very quiet even though the hotel is on the main street. The room was big: held two double beds, four chairs, dresser, fridge, two suitcase setups, TV, microwave, and table for the phone. The bathroom was fully renovated. The door had a secure deadbolt but showed abuse. The carpet was ragged. Curtains were good. The heat didn't work. The AC unit looked okay.

The maintenance is minimum, breakfast isn't good, room don't have coffee machines. From desks guy excellent.

Location of the Star Lodge is very good. Easily accessible with numerous eating establishments and grocery stores nearby. Basic motel with no extra ammenities. A fulltime tenant below us was making all types of noises thru the night. In my 10 years of being a Hotels.com member and staying all over the world, this is the only place that did not accept payment thru the app which was a bit startling for me at check-in when payment in full was demanded. There was some confusion over that. It was however, a decent price compared to all the other over bloated prices of other hotels during the Canada Day long weekend

We only stayed one night $156 / night. That was cheap for August. The hotel needs an overhaul. Pain peeling, mop cans and tools everywhere, the reception looked like a storage room. The gentlemen at the desk was super casual (tshirt/pants) not that there’s anything wrong with this but it sets the tone of the establishment wether to take it as a professional business. He couldn’t find my reservation but when he finally found it, he gave us a quiet room in the back parking lot #244. He was very nice. Balcony with one plastic chair with a bit of a view of the river. He had to turn on the air con which we never used. The balcony door had a screen door so we just kept that open. There was a window—there was a nice breeze blowing through. The metal tissue container in the bathroom was empty with finger print marks all over it. Shampoo/conditioner, soap, plastic cups was provided. There is a coffee maker and mini fridge. The mini fridge was handy. We ordered skip and they forgot utensils. A nice lady gave us some plastic knives and forks. I think this is family run. The bed is firm if you like that and there were two flat pillows for the king bed. If you’re not fussy, one night for us here worked out for us. Thanks for reading

I rarely write reviews, but my experience at this hotel was so awful that I feel obligated to warn others. This place does not even deserve 1 star. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that the hotel is poorly managed and has no regard for guests’ comfort or safety. The rooms were filthy, outdated, and smelled terrible. Basic amenities you’d expect in any hotel – like clean bedding, working air conditioning, and reliable Wi-Fi – were either broken or nonexistent. The staff were unprofessional, unhelpful, and at times outright rude. Any concerns I raised were dismissed instead of resolved. Customer service simply doesn’t exist here. The entire property felt neglected, unsafe, and unsanitary. Between the noise, the dirt, and the complete lack of hospitality, my stay was miserable. There are plenty of better, safer, and cleaner options nearby – do yourself a favor and book literally anywhere else. Don’t waste your money, time, or peace of mind on this place.

Prior to my booking i made sure to select a non smoking room and that a continental breakfast would be included as listed on amenities of thr hotel. Once i arrived the room odur was of cigarettes and continued to get worse throughout my stay, no breakfast was offered after asking the front desk, not even a hot beverage. The TV didn't work but the bedding was clean at least. Wouldn't normally complain but feel this needs to be shared due to hotel services listed online not actually being the same as provided. Front desk staff were polite and friendly.

Would not recommend. Sliding door into our room on 2nd floor did not lock Bathroom was not clean Reception clerk didn’t speak enough English for basic communication.

Old mattresses and junk piled outside rooms. Carpet in room was stained and dirty looking, as was the furniture (chairs). The room exterior door had damage from being broken into or forced open. The lobby had a lot of suitcases and furniture and such piled everywhere.

Gentleman who worked the front desk was friendly. The room while appeared clean had stained carpets, and sheets blood on them. Slept on my own bedding. The furniture very old and multiple microwaves. The room may have been used for storage as well? Continental breakfast consisted of brewed coffee, an open box of Rice Krispy cereal, or toast. We went with toast, though the peanut butter was rancid. I'm actually surprised Hotels.com advertised this one.

Very friendly owner main issue I have is stating the room includes newly when it clearly didn’t. The whole property is very dated and needs a load of attention. Cheap room so you can’t expect a 4 star experience

Nice view of the city and has a deck. King bed was nice. Clean but needed upgrading. We were concerned at first about outside appearance but it was quiet

For starters, the couple who currently owns it are super friendly and make you feel so welcomed. The rooms are a bit outdated, but they keep a very good job at keeping it clean and there's a working a c and other appliances. One recommendation is to bring your own pillow, if you're like me and like a thicker pillow what they will give you extra ones if needed. I also enjoyed that it's really close to all the amenities and to the thompson river university. Great location.

First of all it was July 2024 and kamloops is a dessert. Air conditioning was not on in our room upon arrival and our room was unbearably hot as it was 44° outside. Air conditioner started and was not blowing very hard, we went and bought a fan which helped slightly. Had a horrible night trying to sleep in the heat of the room. Toilet stopped flushing. We booked 3 nights and left after the first night because it was so unbearably hot we felt sick and had to leave. The room was okay for cleaning and the water pressure for the 50 cold showers we took was excellent. You can tell the owners are trying there best but honestly we put air conditioning as one of search criteria and this hotel came up and that's a lie, that Itty bitty air conditioner could not even cool a small double queen room. If I can save one person the annoyance of a unbearably hot hotel room in a dessert town i hope this post does that! What a waste of a perfectly good weekend and my money as we didn't get a refund, as we paid upfront when we arrived (big mistake). It's cheap but not worth it!!!

View from room was nice. Too much junk around property from full time users. Couldn't pin point it but a loud noise verbrated room which woke me up during the night a couple of times. Had manager in room to listen to noise. Said was going to look into it but we left before hearing outcome. Will not be staying there again on chance the noise not located and fixed.

An OK place for an overbite while travelling. Room decor was dated. Problem with electrical connections as some plug ins did not work. Host was quite pleasant and wanted to ensure we had what we needed

It was a very short stay for me, arrived early evening and had to checkout at 545 to catch a bus. The manager was friendly, very accommodating and he made my stay comfortable. If you're looking for inexpensive accommodations without a lot of frills, consider giving Star Lodge a try.

The owner/operator went above and beyond to accommodate my needs. Other hotels in area would not. Very friendly and yes it is an older hotel but the price was very reasonable and all I needed was a place to sleep.

Staff hardly in building had to wait over an hour for someone to show up. Bathroom disgusting overall area around build littered with garbage. Wont ever book here again

we had pre booked our stay and we called ahead to notify we were going to be late, after 11pm. Their ad says check in 2pm-anytime. Manager on phone insisted we check in next day. Said no one would be there and hung up on us.

I was refreshingly surprised by the kindness and great service that, Manga, the proprietor, afforded me. Although the Hotel is older, it was clean and quiet and, importantly, for a business traveler, affordable! Keep up the good work! I will stay here again. N.K. Burgess

Close to downtown proper

Everything was great, affordable for my budget, and easy to get things around, a Canadian store for some groceries tosave some money, Domino's Starbucks, Deny's, some little malls near the hotel, if using public transportation you have it in front of hotel, if you have a car, everything is around 10 minutes. The only bad point was some reighbors were smoking and smell was getting inside the room, but that is not hotel's fault. The best, very affordable.

Manager/owner was friendly and did his best to be helpful but the place is a dump. Crackheads everywhere. Do not recommend unless in a real pickle. We left early and got a different hotel.

It was run down, dirty, it smelled bad, security cameras were obviously not working (wires cut) found drug paraphernalia beside my truck in the morning when i went to leave. When i went to check in there was someone in my room. Management just made them leave without cleaning it or giving me a different room. This was hands down the most uncomfortably and dangerous feeling place i have ever stayed.
