Great location, awesome backyard with views and beach access. Parking was a bit of a mess (no allocated parking so you're left to wander around to find a spot which could be like 7 to 8 mins away from your room) and the parking space is too tight. We found hair tie and a bunch of hair in our toilet so wasn't happy with the cleanliness although the other areas were very clean. PS: they require a bond for each of your booking which I don't this is mentioned anywhere in their booking details.

Great clean & fresh little spot. We stayed in a superior harbour view King room. Was nice inside, balcony tiny & Harbourview not a great deal to look at. Parking was very limited. Overall a nice place to stay

Lovely courtside room. Only problem was the ants that filled the rubbish bin when we were there for only a few hours and the slow reception service. Everything else was great including our evening spa in the rain

We loved the setting of the hotel and proximity to the beach. The staff were excellent and always ready to help. We couldn’t swim in the pool as the water was green and the pool was closed. We dined once in the restaurant but the food was ‘average’

Beautiful location & surroundings. Accommodation a bit tired around the edges but clean and tidy. Breakfast selection was impressive. Disappointed the main pool was closed for the duration of our 4 day stay due to issues. Would stay here again.

Best part ? Spa ie hot out door bath with out the spa part. Annoying part no shuttle to city centre. 20-30 minute walk to town.

The customer service was fantastic. They were welcoming, helpful and super accommodating. The view was superior but unfortunately the room was not so much. The room looked like it hadn't been cleaned for quite some time. Would absolutely stay again, hopefully the lack of cleanliness was a one off. Food was nice however extremely over priced.

Was highly offended by the treatment shown in the restaurant when our family was stopped after dinner to go through our items for the 2nd time by the restaurant manager but no other patrons were stopped. My sons were so annoyed they paid on the spot and worse I had brought my daughter inlaw on first trip to the North of NZ to experience that. Advised the reception who werent interested. Our accommodation was all prepaid but clearly they did not like the way we looked. And this is a hotel in my own country. Would definitely not recommend people to stay here especially if Maori. In addition the room was not cleaned the next day, beds not made or tea topped up for the 2nd day stay. Pink bacteria scum in shower and on shower mat. This hotel needs to lift its game being in one of the most scenic spots in NZ.

Great location by the water, but room and bathroom are in need of a refresh. Quite a lot of mould in the shower. Towels were stained and old. One face cloth was grey and my daughter found a towel with make up all over it.

The best pool we've seen. Just an issue with cleanliness of this property. The pool had hairs, lots of debris floating around, it makes one feel unclean and perhaps needs investment in a good vacuum. House keeping was friendly but again not thorough. We had chunks of hair in the bath and underwear from previous guest in the wardrobe (its probably still there). Main complaint though was the noise. We are a quiet family who like our sleepins. Being right by the pool gate, amongst noisy tourists who slammed doors and yelled dow the corridor from 6.30am, meant we were exhausted and didn't do a lot of what we'd planned. The property itself is beautiful, prime setting, friendly and helpful front of house staff. Coffees on point.

Definitely outdated and showing it’s age. Ants all I’ve the bathroom, shower is peeling apart, carpet is stained, phone doesn’t work. But the bed is comfy and the sheets appeared clean so I’ll take what I can get

The resort is wonderful, especially for families with children. But that also means NOISE, and lots of it. The central pool area is full of screaming and splashing until 10pm. The buildings seem to be made mostly of wood under the stucco exteriors. So even just walking calmly in a hallway produces lots of sound, and children by nature tend to move more energetically. Our ground floor terrace overlooking the bay was a pleasant place to sit during the day, but a noisy nightmare in the morning and evening.. the rooms above have walkout balconies on top of the ceilings of the rooms below. So it's a constant thud thud THUD of doors opening and closing, and people above moving about. In a more modern building, concrete slab construction would eliminate such noise, but the buildings don't have that. No real usable beach on the property (too rocky), thus the extensive outdoor pool area instead. No access to the adjacent Treaty Grounds without paying a $70/person admission fee there, so not much at the resort itself to interest non-children. On-site breakfast buffet was average (basic coffee, some fruit, cereals, hot items). Evening dinner was excellent.

The Dinner Chef was terrible! Worst dinner ever! It spoiled our whole evening, ruined our celebration & stay! Everything came out separately, 10-15 mins apart ... even the sauce, and when it came out most of it was burnt, chewy, wilted salad, not fresh seafood, people getting wrong orders or didn't get what they ordered at all! We were still hungry & had to buy food off-site even though we were staying there. Fridge froze the milk, missing bits of shower, tennis racquets & balls were old & broken. The standard has dropped & is definitely not what it used to be. One positive was Vasa the Front of Desk Duty Manager and the On-Duty Restaurant Manager who were great to deal with when we complained about the dinner. We weren't the only guests to complain that night. Really disappointed and won't be going back.

We were still hungry & had to buy food off-site even though we were staying there. Fridge froze the milk, missing bits of shower, tennis racquets & balls were old & broken. The standard has dropped & is definitely not what it used to be. One positive was Vasa the Front of Desk Duty Manager and the On-Duty Restaurant Manager who were great to deal with when we complained about the dinner. We weren't the only guests to complain that night. Really disappointed and won't be going back.

Loved the location of this hotel. The concierge Dimitri was very attentive but the restaurant staff were not on the ball. We had to wait over an hour for our pudding and when we raised this it was dismissed and told we didn’t wait that long. The breakfast was not kept tidy throughout the service and there were many spillages around the cooked breakfast area. The pool area was lovely. The bedroom was spacious but some of the fittings had seen better days. Wood was warped and chipped around the fridge. The Waitaingi treaty grounds were excellent and easy access from the hotel.

Was highly offended by the treatment shown in the restaurant when our family was stopped after dinner to go through our items for the 2nd time by the restaurant manager but no other patrons were stopped. My sons were so annoyed they paid on the spot and worse I had brought my daughter inlaw on first trip to the North of NZ to experience that. Advised the reception who werent interested. Booking in did not go well. Its seems that when the people at the property know that you booked through Expedia, they give you any average room that is outdated, or in poor condition. I had to query the room allocation the next and the staff at the reception said that their was a mistake made. this is not the first time something like this happens. I get the feeling that most properties have a pool of rooms that are put aside for people who book through websites like Expedia. So, these rooms will be very far away from the amenities etc. I was not happy but it was fixed after the fact. This should not be happening,.

All staff were very helpful and friendly (especially Dimitri who went above and beyond) except for one slim young Asian (Korean?) girl who was the opposite. Our room was metres from the beach with a lovely unobstructed view. We found the a la carte food in the restaurant disappointing but enjoyed the breakfast buffets.

Our room was a bit tired but it was a last minute booking at the busiest time of the year. The staff are excellent very friendly and helpful.The pool restaurant and bar are very good. We bought the breakfast option with our booking which was excellent.

Go ahead and book, clean and affordable. Rooms a little dated. Pools are weird with strange unclear access but lovely surroundings. One warm pool but has chipped debis floating in water. No complaints about the food, desserts were delicious, breakfast was a buffet with a lot of choice. Ask what nights dinner is buffet, we missed out and got disappointed. Husband is a large eater and the fine dining portion doesn’t cut it. Eye fillet great, King fish such a small portion it was ridiculous
