I was surprised. It is part of the Inverlochy hotel. An excellent hotel but the separate cottage was not. For the price I could have had a wonderful night in a very good hotel near London. But not here. Check in was abrupt. Not very helpful and I was felt to be a very much second class citizen. I was even asked for my passport! I live 100 miles away. The room was basic. It was upstairs in a cottage; that’s fine but next to someone who was noisy the whole night. Doors closing at 2/3am. Loos flushing. People getting up and talking outside the room at 6am. All in all disastrous and not to be repeated. I asked if the car would be safe and was told yes, it’s in a secluded area. It wasn’t. It was 10 yds off the main road. The cord string light pull was dirty, the soap non existent. The shampoo useless for more than a quick wash for one. Coffee! Don’t get me started. I remember hotels like that 30 years ago. Come on inverlochy. Pull your socks up. Make it better and you will build a better reputation. You make a process and product shameful in Scottish hospitality. It should be less money grabbing and more “Welcome to Scotland”.

Property is secluded from the main house and beside a pub underneath that just serves 4 expensive things for dinner only there is no other amenities in this place. The room is big and beautiful but nothing else is going on.

Pretty property but the check-in procedure could have been better signed. The staff who greeted us, although polite and, I am sure, followed procedures, made my request of two twins rather than a king for my mother and myself seem like a huge request. They did accommodate the request but I feel he was borderline rude, as I felt embarrassed and defensive over a simple request. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Bathrooms too. I did have concerns that one of the treads on the stairs might be broken as it rolled under ones foot so I was a bit concerned about my 88 y. o. mother but she navigated them carefully and was fine. We did not eat at the castle. We ventured into Fort William and had a lovely meal at The Geographer. For breakfast we ate at newly opened place, which was really yummy, called Highland Basecamp Bistro.

We had to push our check-in to after 10 PM, and thankfully, they kindly accommodated us. We were greeted by a nice man at Inverlochy Castle Hotel for check-in before driving a very short distance to the Factors Inn. The room was quite spacious, clean, and neat. We had a very comfortable stay. The room has a thorough guide to the Inn and the surrounding area, which was quite informative! The room had a tea station and some biscuits to enjoy, too.
