Arrochar Hotel 'A Bespoke Hotel'

This is a nice place for a getaway in a beautiful place. Reasonably priced, acceptable quality, free parking. Probably often used to accommodate large groups of tourists, so breakfast (that was very good in itself) was more than crowdy for some 30+ minutes. Kitchen is open only until 9pm in the evening. The bartender recommended to visit a take-away next door to get some hot food. I was stupid enough to do so, only to discover that that the take-away was already closed. Perhaps this was a kind of Scottish joke or a good intention to force the visitor to take a late evening walk.

Fine hotel with fantastic views and easy parking. Bathrooms could use a bit of an update. While the room didn’t smell at all like them, the lobby reeked of stale cigarette smoke

The Arrochar Hotel is delightful. The staff are all friendly and helpful, and the hotel has a homely feel. I was surprised that several residents had dogs with them, so it's a dog friendly hotel. The lounge and bar area is cosy. One can choose to eat dinner in the lounge area near the bar, or in the dining room. Our room was spacious and had a lovely view over the lake. We really enjoyed our stay.

Queue at check inn. Bar not open on arrival. Food expensive. Left hotel for food and a drink. They are missing out on business here. Room was basic but clean. Cable and ripped carpet in bedroom. Only one set of towels. Barman was good when he was there which was after 5. Views and location stunning.

Nice hotel even tho bar shuts early!! Next to the end of Loch Long its a great location with superb views of The Cobbler and Arrochar Alps

Good paring, good check in, wi fi good. evening meal and buffet breakfast good. everything acceptable. It gets busy with coach parties.

Great location on the banks of Loch Long. Hotel is a little dated and bedrooms could be updated. Staff need to tell guests when breakfast is about to finish as some new arrivals paid for their breakfast but didn’t get any hot food as it was taken off the servery a couple of minutes (and bang on the dot) just after they sat down. Staff could also be a little more flexible on seating people in the dining room. Entertainment was good and bar prices very reasonable.

Parking was very easy. Everyone at the staff level was excellent.

Arriving mid evening on a Saturday = very limited parking - no blue badge places. However, good welcome, good quality breakfast, helpful and considerate staff, comfortable night's sleep. Right on Loch Long, great views. Dog friendly.

Sadly this hotel did not meet my expectations. There was mold on ceiling in our first room, staff did try and make it right by offering another room which was an improvement to the first but the bathroom had mold on the ceilings there as well. The cold water tap only ran intermittently and the shower was a trickle with no water pressure and to complete the bathroom tour there was significant damage in the back of the bathroom door. There was a nice thick dust layer on the shelves and table was very wobbly. We had dinner but sadly my meal was forgotten and the rest of the table was finished dinner before I even received mine. I wanted to like this place due to the beautiful location but overall was quite disappointed. It could definitely use an overhaul.

We were initially put in a really grotty room with mold across the width of the window and the curtain. It was at the back of the hotel overlooking propane tanks and was extremely noisy. The room was in need of a full upgrade. We were mostly concerned with the mold; when we mentioned this to reception, we were immediately moved to a much nicer room; it was like a different hotel, even though they were fully booked. We were really pleased with the quality of breakfast and the friendliness of the staff. The general cleanliness was of a high standard.

Hotel needs a good deep clean, however the staff are excellent. I stayed for 1 night which is ok.

There was black mold growing on the ceiling in the bath and the air vent looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. the shower apparatus wouldn't keep the shower. There was a tiny heater that finally warmed the room up. A little maintenance can go a long way.

Old and dated and dirty. Cobwebs on bedroom roof and hair in bathtub and stains on bedsheets. Also mattress was so lumpy and uncomfortable. Food mediocre at best. Luckily location was good. Staff clearly not happy to be there. Wouldn't go back.

The room had cobwebs on the lightshades above the bed and around the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. Otherwise the room was good and the staff pleasant. However, the food for dinner and breakfast were both disappointing.

The staff where excellent and really helpful but the room we had was very small and dated.

Sadly our stay was disappointing. When we first arrived we noted the hotel itself was dated and old but the appearance was not much of an issue. Problems arose when we were trying to sleep. The hotel walls are so thin and the floors so creamy that we could hear everything going on in the room above from us. Every footstep, every time a tap was turned on, toilet flushed and creaks of the other guests getting up from the bed. It was unbearable and went on throughout the night. Another issue was the heat of the room. Our radiator was broken and there was no way to control the heat. We had our dog with us who was panting and we could barely sleep from how hot it was even with the window wide open (in February). We told the front desk and a member of staff had a look and said there was nothing they could do. The next morning, after maybe 2-3 hours of sleep max I asked for a refund due to the issues but was told that the manager can only refund guests and they are on holiday. It’s such a shame because this hotel is in a lovely location and could be a great place to stay with a few upgrades but the bare minimum you expect from a room is to be able to sleep. This was not an issue of noisy guests but of a total lack of repair and upgrade from the hotel to keep it in good condition.

The hotel was in a lovely spot across the road from Loch Long. It was clean and the beds were comfy but we struggled to get the shower to work so I opted for a bath instead. The hotel was noisy with highway traffic and employee dumpster activity out back. It is very old therefore the floors above you are very creaky. Breakfast buffet had many missing items as a tour bus load had just gone through and we didn’t have the time to wait much longer for them to restock. I would not stay here again.

Paint was hanging off the radiators, the room was very old, and in desperate need of refit, the bed was uncomfortable, the television didn’t work and there was no way to set an alarm call as there was no phone. Overall, I think the hotel is relatively low level and poor quality.

Absolutely beautiful location, very busy hotel but the bed i was given was extremely uncomfortable, definitely past it's best.

We were somehow shoved into the tiniest room on the property. The room across the hallway was triple the size and of course had a view. Our bathroom was tiny and did not look like any of the photos. The hotel is dated, and wear and tear is very visible. Our room was right behind the stage area where they had a singer in the bar (literally our rooms wall was his backdrop). He only sang until 10:30, but had we had an early morning it would have been very irritating. It is a great location for the bus stop, but it was a hike to the railway station.

The room has a great view of the loch and the hotel is close to many great areas around Loch Long and Loch Lomond. The water pressure in the shower was not good and the beds were narrow, albeit comfortable. The restaurant had a very limited menu and the breakfast buffet was not all that great. The staff was very friendly and the whole experience of the hotel was lovely, otherwise.

Loch view good. Room had leak from ceiling/room above water running down wall, dried by morning. Informed reception. Buffet breakfast not great. Staff quick to clear tables. Noise transfers from other rooms easily e.g. TV

Fantastic setting. Easy walking out. Professional staff but very busy. - breakfast started at 8am and by 8.30 when we came down many item on buffet, croissants and orange juice had ran out. Exceptional weather and our second floor room which was facing SW was so hot sleeping was very uncomfortable. Window only opened 2-3 inches and no fan.

The building itself could use come maintenance for the hallway floors. The bar and restaurant were great and the staff friendly, though Andrea is a shining star! She is so friendly, very quick to help guests, and offers top-tier customer service. If I ended up in the area again, Andrea is the reason I'd come back to the Arrochar Hotel.

A charming hotel that has seen its better days. But for one night it was sufficient for us. Some issues with forgetting that we were thee, but they fixed it swiftly and nicely. However there seem to be some sort of conflict among the staff, where they would openly argue in front of us costumers, both at dinner and breakfast. It made them inefficient and slow. Breakfast was a bit of a chaos, food overcooked, and things ran out without being refilled, staff seemed stressed and irritated.

Hotel is tired, flaky paint in room, poor shower, dated bathroom. Contacted hotel 2 weeks before and was told did not need to book restaurant as loads of room only to find on check in could only eat at 6pm or 8.39 as coach loads in restaurant between those times. Breakfast at 9 am poor, food looked like it was what was left from when put out at 7.30. Disappointed stay. However view great and good live music. Barman excellent.

Arrived very late, however night porter was very professional and welcoming. Comfortable stay, room was clean and spacious. In the morning, the receptionist completely ignored me, a simple good morning would have been appreciated, I wandered around looking for the breakfast room, once I found it, I could see it was busy, the staff initially were very warm and friendly and I was about to be shown to a table, when an older gentleman, assuming he was the manager told her to put me through the back, even though there were empty tables in the main room, I was out into an annexe room, completely empty, and then just left. I wasn't told what the procedure was for food, tea/coffee etc, so had to make my way back and find everything for myself. Such a shame that the day staff are not very customer focused, otherwise I would have left a much higher rating. Property needs a facelift, old-fashioned and a little tired. However very clean throughout! I guess you get what you pay for? Maybe some training required, especially for the management!

Lovely location and room was clean and comfortable. Restaurant had a good menu but host and server were not pleasant at all. How many times can you not answer with “you’re welcome” when being thanked….for us we never got a response. We felt that we were imposing on them by being there. But hotel was good thankfully.

Wonderful view, nice to sit in garden overlooking the loch. We did not eat at hotel but booked at Cu Mara next door, excellent. Our room (10) had very creaky uneven floors, but was clean and quite quiet overnight, last minute booking pleased to get a room.

Very limited hours for breakfast and dinner or bar. I couldnt even purchase a bottle of water during the day. Except for dead spider squished on the ceiling it was relatively clean. Its a good 20 minute hike with luggage from where the train drops you off to Arrochar, which is actually 5 to 10 minute walk to Tarbet. There are no taxis stationed in either, minimum 30 minutes wait for a taxis from somewhere else. It is a quiet restfull place, just limited for service.

Pleasant overnight stay in beautiful location.

This was our base of operations for 3 days as we explored the Highlands. A lovely accommodation that took care of all our needs. The loch facing room was gorgeous! And the food (breakfast and dinner) was also delicious.

Great location but tired hotel. Rooms average decor and condition. Table d'hote was decent portions but not terribly good food for £27 a head. No check in until 3pm and bar not open until 3pm. Go to bistro next door, very nice and mosen with great food.

For a base for an amazing motorbike trip this hotel is ideal. The Buffet breakfast amongst the best I’ve ever experienced

The service was good,when the TV didnt work a man came up quick with a new remote. The breakfast buffet was good but the chafers were often empty and it took a while to bring more food.The lager we bought at the bar was unchilled so that was a letdown,but overall it is a nice hotel and a room with a lochside view was an added bonus.

The room has a great view of the loch and the hotel is close to many great areas around Loch Long and Loch Lomond. Disappointing - looks good on the photos but doesn’t live up to them. Tired, poorly maintained and understaffed. We bought the dinner and breakfast option, food was sad, service was grouchy.
