The outside of the property needed a good tidy up of the hedges and patio areas, ther were stea cats catching a leaving dead tats in the patio area, our room had no heating or hot water so we had to move to another room. The decor inside was dated and requires a good facelift, the staff, whilst helpful were untidy and you could not identify them. On staff member ha NO knowledge of Gluten Free dietary requirements, and she was cooking my breakfast, the food overall was of a good standard and I would eat my evening meals there again. The second room we had was well maintained and had a good view of the harbour and breakwater, there are good parking facilities (free) and the management are trying their best under very trying circumstances, so although this seems like a poor review, it is not as bad as some places. So please stay and enjoy the area, the hotel can only get better if people use it and support it.

Lovely spot before the ferry, room spotless and comfy, bar was great, locals friendly and the braised beef I had was amazing. Only 1 hiccup, I preordered the breakfast for 8am so could leave for the ferry on time , At 8.30 I had to request to takeaway the breakfast and ate it in the car at the ferry port. Probably the worst breakfast I ever had The guy was under pressure I suppose as I didn’t want to miss my ferry. Nice sausage bacon anaemic mushroom like shoe leather. I’d definitely stay here again though but go to Micky D for a muffin.

The service is amazing, they're all so friendly. The kitchen is excellent and there are often events in the hotel going on. On my arrival they had live music by local bands. Felt home in the area immediately. Don't be fooled by the 2-star rating, it's a simple facility but with everything else, they're a 4-star for me!

Perfect location for ferry crossings. Small, quaint, safe & quiet hotel with wonderful , attentive staff. Food was excellent, home cooked. Right in the water with beautiful view of harbor.

Staff and hotel was great! I would just clean it up a bit outside to make it more inviting. This is feed back from family memebers that live in Holyhead when they picked us up. Overall great place great beer.

The hotel is quiet, clean, has convenient parking and good lunch/dinner options. The sound isolation is quite poor, and the interior could benefit from renovation. Warning: although I booked a room with 'Harbour view', we were told on arrival that view cannot be guaranteed. We did get a room with a view of the harbour in the end, but it was handled with bad grace. If the view is important for you, I'd recommend to contact the hotel after booking and put in a special request.

Look ill keep it fairly honest and short. When we walked into our room, it reeked of dampness, all locks or window stays were damaged or rusted out so you couldn't control ventilation/ open a bathroom window to get rid of the strong smell of bleach.I pulled back the fitted sheet to see the state of the mattress, and let's just say that's the reason I slept fully clothed and on top of all the bedding. This place is good for budget travelers or those who need to lay their head before catching the ferry the next morning, its not somewhere id stay for a holiday. We stayed here in September 23

This hotel was filthy and cluttered. I don’t ever leave bad reviews and have travelled to about 70 countries. The Wi-Fi doesn’t work, the TV is tiny and turns off frequently, the tea kettle was melted and dirty and the tea bags were open. The grounds are even dirty and cluttered. Absolutely disgusting. The owners and staff obviously have no pride in what they do.

Property location was in a nice area with a good lookout point. Room was alright size with very big bathroom. However bed was uncomfortable, had some mould around the room and the room had an unpleasant stale smell about it. Overall for the price the hotel was okay, but don’t expect anything fantastic.

A small Mom and Pop shop property with very friendly staff. Stayed here whilst waiting for my ferry to Dublin the following day. Only complaint would be that the cellular reception and WiFi from within the room was virtually nonexistent.

The Boathouse is in a lovely location and was probably once a great hotel. There are signs of effort to upgrade, the new washroom was appreciated, but the mattress was so old it had a ‘ditch’ on one side and needed a mattress protector or something. It would also be great if smokers wouldn’t smoke under the guest bedrooms so we could enjoy the amazing harbour view that is a feature of this “oldie but goody” hotel.

Its little cosy hotel. Very convenient for the ferry terminal. One thing I would suggest is to fix the shower temperature as it was not possible to get it right. It was either too hor or cold.

By mistake i booked a double bedroom for “1” instead of two people. When we arrived they weren’t sure if they would even give us the room. We insisted on at least seeing the room to see if it would be a fit for us or not as we had a very long trip. When we got there the bed was great for us. So we said we would take the room, its not a problem for us. They continued to say they have to charge us for the extra person anyways, it was only 10£. But We weren’t getting anything extra though. Its the same room, same bed. We didnt even get extra towels, breakfast is not included either?? So the extra charge was for the air we breathed? I still see no reason for charging extra for a person just because.. I would understand if breakfast or some service was included for the person but there was none.. Overall, the hotel was fine, the bedroom was good space, bathroom seemed newly fitted, everything was clean, but there was couple of smudges on the duvet.. Tv didnt work they were in the process of replacing it. Seems like there is some renovation going on the property. The stay was alright. Minus the incident during check in.

It was an underwhelming experience. Very expensive for the product. Service was horrendous. Wait time for bistro- over an hour and a half, so we arrived early for breakfast. It’s like they have no idea how to run the business. A shame, it’s in an awesome spot.

Don’t stay here … at least not until they get it fixed up. The place is in major need of a remodel. No wifi no cable tv. Our toilet was so close to the sink you had to sit sideways. The shower hot water didn’t work in the AM. Worst was that the power went out at 12:30a and was out all night … as there was no one at the front desk to notify about the problem.

I arrived arr. 1pm, much earlier than normal hotel checkin time. As I came from West coast USA, I was exhausted due to time difference and having not a good sleep before the day, just about to collapse. The young lady led me to a back room as my room-to-be was not cleaned yet. It was not a usual guest room, a kind of a special room with sofa. I just fell in sleep on the sofa until she came to get me. Because of that short sleep, I could get my normal sense back. This hotel is close to the sea. you can eat breakfast watching the boats floating on the peaceful sea. They have quiz nights, something night (can’t remember), gathering village people in their salon.This place is not a Hilton nor any big name hotel, but all the people working there are really nice folks, very kind, friendly, and sincere. I am going back there after 3 days in other city. People who love sincerity, old days’ way of life will love this small friendly guesthouse.

They have quiz nights, something night (can’t remember), gathering village people in their salon.This place is not a Hilton nor any big name hotel, but all the people working there are really nice folks, very kind, friendly, and sincere. If you arrive by train or ferry off hours, don’t assume you will find transportation. Only 4 taxis there. Staff was wonderful and went out of their way, even getting me a sandwich after hours! Thank you!

We had a lovely stay at the Boathouse Hotel, and found the staff to be extremely accommodating. How lovely to spend time in this quiet spot, right off the Wales Coast Path.

We liked the views, staff and the proximity to the water. Food was pretty good. We had no way to get from the ferry to the Boathouse for 45 minutes when a taxi showed up. The next morning we had no taxi to get from the Boathouse to the train station with our bags. We walked in the rain which took 40 minutes with our bags. They need some form of transportation for people without a car.

We enjoyed our stay at the Boathouse. It has a wonderful location, perfect for exploring both the town and the Anglesea path, with it's wonderful trail to North and South Stack as well as the historical area where the quarry used to be, not to mention the long breakwater. The breakfast in the morning was very good. I would recommend staying here.

So close to the ferry port..Nice little hotel with sea views. Food in the restaurant was very good had prawns in garlic starter husband had smoked mackerel pate. To follow I had ham egg chips. Gammon was huge Husband had seafood pasta with garlic bread. We also had a cocktail each. Altogether a good stay. Room very comfortable. Would recommend to anyone going on the ferry to Dublin as an overnight stay

Clearly the folks here are working hard to bring this lovely old inn back to life. A few kinks to be worked out, but we enjoyed our night there. The food in restaurant was very good, if a bit limited on item availability.

It was an underwhelming experience. Very expensive for the product. Service was horrendous. Wait time for bistro- over an hour and a half, so we arrived early for breakfast. It’s like they have no idea how to run the business. A shame, it’s in an awesome spot.

Lovely spot before the ferry, room spotless and comfy, bar was great, locals friendly and the braised beef I had was amazing. Only 1 hiccup, I preordered the breakfast for 8am so could leave for the ferry on time , At 8.30 I had to request to takeaway the breakfast and ate it in the car at the ferry port. Probably the worst breakfast I ever had The guy was under pressure I suppose as I didn’t want to miss my ferry. Nice sausage bacon anaemic mushroom like shoe leather. I’d definitely stay here again though but go to Micky D for a muffin.

It was very run down! We ordered breakfast at 7:15 arrived downstairs for the reception area to be dark unopened for business and then left at 7:30am without having breakfast! Nice friendly staff, but the decor and musty smell let the place down. There is a huge potential for the property!

A three day stay. We were told this was unusual as most were one night stopovers waiting for ferry. On this basis you’d like to think you’d get allocated a reasonable room. I can’t speak for the rest of the hotel, only room 20. External room next to staff rooms? Ground floor, had to keep the curtains drawn all time and windows closed due to people outside the room talking. Very frustrating on hottest night of the year. No aircon and no fan. There seems to be a running joke about it being fawlty towers. Soon wears thin when you’ve paid £300 for a room. Breakfast is extra and we passed after one try. Very average. Fab breakfast just down the road at South Stack visitors centre. Eve meal , average, so didn’t bother again. Go over the road at Langdons , fantastic meal and service. The outside of the Hotel could be fabulous with a bay view, but it’s unkempt, full of weeds and rubbish. Dustbin and broken furniture outside our room was a nice touch. We would have checked out, but the town was busy and no other rooms were available. Such a shame as this hotel has great potential but needs so much attention paying to details. We enjoyed the area but won’t be returning to this hotel.

The staff were friendly and helpful but the facilities were not great. The shower took ages to get hot and it's then got too hot with almost no midday. Fire alarm kept going off apparently cause steams from the shower. Beds squeaking and broken blinds etc.
