Good location and usually parking on site. Peaceful, quiet and comfortable for our fifth short stay here. Staff are very good, friendly and helpful. Make sure to use their emailed advice to navigate to the hotel, we needed it because our sat nav is not up to date.

Penser à réserver pour un véhicule.. parking petit et inadapté pour les motos… bien situé centre de La Rochelle, bon petit déjeuner mais salle trop petite au regard de la taille de l’établissement.

We got what we needed from the hotel. The location was great and it had attached parking. Pay attention to their details on how to get to the parking. Google and/or Apple will NOT get you there. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable. The rooms are in need of a remodel though. Carpet is never good and this carpet was badly in need of replacement. The bathtub/shower is an accident waiting to happen. Overall, it worked for us.

Hotel in a great location, walk to centre in minutes. Staff so friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet style nice and good choices. No lifts to upstairs, not a problem for us but just a reminder. They do have ground floor rooms. Top tip is prebook parking as limited spaces. Then follow the instructions for getting there. The one way system is a nightmare and ypu havecto go through no entey sign (except access). 2 nights not enough. Will be back...

Le bâtiment étant classé, il n'est pas possible d'avoir la climatisation mais il y a un ventilateur très performant dans chaque chambre. Le lieu est calme. La décoration est raffiné et élégante. Le petit-déjeuner est varié et de qualité. Il y a un parking sur place mais on nous indique également où nous garer gratuitement à 12min à pied du centre, ce que j'ai beaucoup apprécié. Bref j'y retourne avec plaisir et je félicite les équipes qui sont engagés auprès des clients.

The room smelled very damp and musty and the bathroom was dirty especially the toilet. There were tea and coffee making facilities but no milk although when I asked at reception I was provided with some. We were too late for dinner which wasnt available at the hotel anyway but they could not even provide us with a vended snack. We went to bed very hungry and very dissatisfied. Breakfast next day was basic but acceptable

Cliente régulière , j’ai été puni cette fois . Pour le même tarif que les nuitées précédentes , j’ai été perchée au 2 eme étage dans une chambre qui sentait le plastique fondu, sdb avec une mini douche dont le bac serait a changé .. plus de gel douche, des poussières et toiles d’araignées au dessus du lit … on fait quoi dans ces cas là !!!!!

Le temps d'un week-end pour faire une pause à La Rochelle. Bel hôtel, mais attention ! Le tissu au plafond est décollé juste au-dessus du lit, il manque une baguette aux fenêtres, les joints de carrelage de la douche ne sont pas très propres, et une dernière chose, les murs de la chambre sont très fins. On entend les voisins ronfler. En tant que client, je pense que le parking devrait être gratuit. Sinon, c'est très bien, rien à dire sur le personnel, très agréable.

The room was clean and comfortable. I booked/arrived late at night due to a cancelled flight. The staff were very welcoming and considerate. A member of staff, (tall, red hair, beard) was very obliging with arranging food and catering for my allergy.

Très bel hôtel avec beaucoup de charme et très bien situé pour visiter le centre. La dame de l'accueil nous a aidé par téléphone à nous diriger pour arriver à l'hôtel car c'est un peu compliqué. La chambre était très grande. Nous avons beaucoup aimé cet endroit.

Suite familiale avec 2 chambres. 3 etoiles très propre mais vieillissant notamment les sanitaires. Il faut ajouter un petit frigo car c'est indispensable pour 1 famille! Propre saif les vitres, a revoir. Sinon personnel adorable, flexible, souriant. Decoration originale dans tout l'hotel. Parking possible

The room was small and quite tired. No air conditioning or space to put away clothes. It had been renovated in a quirky way which didnt always work well. Quite expensive but an easy walk to the town centre and harbour area.

Mauvaise experience dans cet hotel. Réveillés à 5h du matin par le bruit des autres chambres... puis a 7h par un enfant qui court puis qui pleure et hurle etc. En fait, les chambres sont extrêmement mal isolées. On arrivait a entendre mot pour mot les conversations des voisins de palier. Dommage de devoir vivre au rythme des enfants de la chambre d'à côté lorsque nous aurions souhaité avoir plutot un week-end reposant. (Sans compter les bruits incessants du chien qui aboyait la veille dans une chambre jusqu'a 23h passées)

Le personnel de l’hôtel était très sympathique surtout que nous avions réservé notre chambre avec baignoire sauf qu’à l’arrivée c’était une douche. Elle nous a expliqué que c’était à cause des photos de chambres qui nous on induites en erreur. Elle nous a surclassé pour qu’on puisse avoir notre baignoire. Nous avons trouvé ce geste très appréciable de l’établissement. La chambre était très propre nous avons séjourné 2 nuits au calme. Nataly et Heilyne

The property is in an ideal location for the centre of the city. It is clean and the staff are very nice. I would recommend to stay here especially if you have a car.

Hotel in a great location, walk to centre in minutes. Staff so friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet style nice and good choices. No lifts to upstairs, not a problem for us but just a reminder. They do have ground floor rooms. Top tip is prebook parking as limited spaces. Then follow the instructions for getting there. The one way system is a nightmare and ypu havecto go through no entey sign (except access). 2 nights not enough. Will be back...

Hotel François 1er was a perfect place for our quick trip to La Rochelle. Conveniently located in the city center, near the Old Port, museums and plenty of dining and shopping options. We really enjoyed walking the neighborhoods of La Rochelle. The staff was very friendly and tolerant of my beginner French skills. The only problem we had was trying to access the property after we'd picked up our rental car. With construction and one-way streets, my husband was not able to navigate me to the hotel to park and pick up our luggage. We will return and stay longer next time.

Great location a little away from the port but a very pleasant short walk (5mins) away. Very friendly welcome and good accommodation. We didn't have breakfast but it looked a decent continental offering - albeit with loads of great croissants etc on offer on the doorstep, there's no need to stay at the hotel for breakfast. I have used this hotel a number of times in the past and i will do so again in the future.

Penser à réserver pour un véhicule.. parking petit et inadapté pour les motos… bien situé centre de La Rochelle, bon petit déjeuner mais salle trop petite au regard de la taille de l’établissement.

We absolutely loved our stay at Francois 1er! The family room was spacious and the hotel is tastefully decorated with art and pieces of music items, as this is the overall theme. The kids enjoyed the music corner with headphones. The breakfast was also of a high quality.

Pleasant Hotel in the centre of the beautiful town of La Rochelle. Nice personnel, safe parking for the motorcycle, great breakfast. There is also a courtyard where you can enjoy a drink outside.

Nice place in an excellent location. We have stayed here before and it seems the prices have gone up and the rooms have got smaller. Room was small but adequate. Toilet had a timed light that went off after 10 seconds! We spoke to the owner who said he knew it was annoying but didn’t do anything to change it… breakfast was poor, as was the housekeeping. Front of house stafff were excellent! Lots of art and lovely courtyard! Probably a bit expensive but this is La Rochelle. Will have to up its game to tempt us back a third time.

Not a great experience overall. Room was very tired and the bathroom dirty and poorly cleaned. Poor selection for breakfast and maybe it was a bad day, but even the croissants and pain au chocolats were burnt. On the plus side, it’s conveniently located in close walking distance to the town and port, with parking available onsite.

Location. Location. Location. Onsite parking and walkable distance to town led to stress free visit. Hotel has a lovely courtyard for sheltered breakfasts in the heat. Staff were really helpful.

Great location and lovely staff. We had a 2 bedroom suite for 5 people (room 420) which was spacious and light. Unfortunately we were visiting during a heatwave so the lack of air conditioning and a fridge made it slightly less comfortable at night than other hotel rooms may be, but they kindly provided 2 fans and the big windows had louvre shutters so we could keep the airflow but block out the light at night.
