We enjoyed our stay at manor house. Made the most of the pool, sauna and steam room facilities. The staff were friendly and the area was nice and quiet. The only complaint we would have is that the vegan options (we were really grateful that there were some) in terms of the main course felt over priced for what they were. The chocolate mousse pudding was delicious though!

Nice place but really disappointing to find out that i couldnt use the gym unless i wanted to pay an extra £20 which for 1 night is extortionate. The gym was the only reason i booked the hotel, possibly my fault as i didnt spot the charge in the small print nevertheless still not great.

Nice welcome . All rooms differ due to the historic building. Food was excellent at evening meal. Please note that there is a charge of £15 per person for a 2 hour visit to Spa area. This is not noted and its not until you make the booking you get a text from the hotel. It is nice but should be noted prior to booking. Stayed pre covid and would certainly use and recommend to others. There is refurbishment work being made to the rooms.

Fabulous hotel and staff.The room we booked was dressed for the period of the property. This hotel is spotless and you are made to feel you are the most important guest in the hotel. Parking is free and on site. Sadly I give it only 4 stars simply because the characteristics of the building have creaky floors and we could hear those above us in every movement. All been said we will definitely be returning it is a little Gem with full spa and treatment centre.

Room was spotless and cleaned every day. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly and professional. The building itself was absolutely stunning with bags of character. The spa was simple but clean and beautifully kept with fantastic staff who put us at ease while we were there. I was particularly impressed with the lovely changing area. We hope to make another visit in the near future

Travelled for work as a solo female. Stayed in the courtyard rooms, very clean room and comfortable bed. Staff are wonderful and food is delicious. Paid extra £20 for the spa and well worth it.

My introduction to this property was less than ideal. I don't think my room had received a thorough turn over from the past guest. Bath mat missing, didn't have the full suite of toiletries. All forgivable, until I wanted to go to bed. Only to find that it had hair (human) everywhere. The night porter kindly moved me to a very beautiful and newly refurbished room but i was disappointed that the manager made no effort to contact me to discuss. A little token of a voucher for the restaurant or spa or a discount on the room would have been appropriate in my opinion. Pity because the property is 500years old and beautiful.

Room was dusty, the fan was extremely dirty didn't use. Bathroom had hair on the floor which wasn't ours. Small details makes all the different. The room however was lovely and quiet the hotel was nice with its little period touches still left. Food in restaurant was lovely (lunch).

Hotel was very dark and carpets needed a good vacuum. I said i wasn't sure about booking breakfast at check in and told it would be more expensive booking it in the morning!!

The house is beautiful and the rooms are lovely. Unfortunately I had to move rooms when I realised I could hear the music from the spa very loudly in my room. The second room wasn't much quieter, I could hear very loud footsteps from the people above me and there was a toilet next to my room from which I could hear the door slamming and the toilet flushing throughout the night. I didn't have a good nights sleep the entire time I was there. Really disappointed as I was looking forward to staying here. Everything else was great but I feel the bare minimum you should get from a hotel room is that it it quiet and peaceful. I left feeling tired and upset that I had spent what for me was quite a lot of money on my stay here.

Some areas of the The Manor House are in need of renovation. The room did not have a shower on the wall only a bath shower taps which was disappointing. Other than that everything else was good. The restaurant was lovely with nice decor, food was good. Breakfast was nice with plenty of choice. We did not try the spa but it looked nice and seemed to be very popular. I would stay there again.

Lovely place. Great staff. Good food. Wifi was good, room and shower were spot on.. but the mattresses in room 16 were terrible. Collapsed in the middle, 1 was stained, 1 had a rip in it - Not what you'd expect from a newly refurbished hotel

The hotel felt very homely, with a warm informal reception. It’s quite huge inside with many corridors creating a feeling of discovery. I have to give a special call out to the restaurant. Great menu and my choice was exceptional in every way. Service & food brilliant. Our room was the Thomas More suite; happily we escaped with heads intact!! Cavernous room with sufficient sockets. Didn’t really trust the old plumbing so avoided the shower. Would be in our shortlist should we stay in the area again. Will definitely

Room had an adjoining room door that wasnot sound proofed. So second night was not good and woken at 615am by very noisy neighbour. Door needs to be sound proof. As this is sold as their superior room.Damed poor show. We did get discounted pool use.

The Manor House Hotel is a stunning historical property with beautifully appointed features. The dining room is very stylish and beautifully decorated. The food is outstanding! We also enjoyed the delicious full breakfast included in our rate. Chloe at the front desk was very friendly and helpful.

A very comfortable and friendly hotel. The reception staff could have been clearer about the cost of breakfast for non-inclusive guests when we we checked in. There was a limited selection of hot drinks in our bedroom.

It’s a brilliantly run hotel. The staff are genuinely invested in the business and its customers. They care that you’re having a lovely time and go above and beyond to make sure you do. Such a stark difference from the large chain hotels I usually stay in for work.

Enjoyable stay at the Manor House Hotel while visiting Croft Circuit recently. Friendly welcome, easy parking. Spacious room with an excellent bathroom. A small hiccup over the bill at checkout was quickly rectified. Highly recommended.

This is quite a historic building with links to Henry 8th and the family of Anthony Eden. It’s on the outskirts of Bishop Aukland but a cheap taxi ride into the centre and decent bus routes. The staff are super friendly and the spa linked to the hotel is very good. I sincerely found the place relaxing. If you are visiting the excellent new galleries of Bishop Aukland (especially its Spanish Art Gallery) stay here.

We stayed here for 2 nights to see Kynren and Bishop Auckland. Our room was very nicely furnished with comfortable beds and fab bathroom. Very happy. Staff were very friendly and next time we visit we will use the additional cost spa facilities. Breakfast was delicious!

The room I had was newly refurbished and to a very good standard. Usb chargers by the bed is always a welcome site when away on business. Had a very friendly welcome from the receptionist. Ate in the restaurant, and the food was very good. Zero complaints about the whole stay.
