The Lodge is the cheaper option at Solent, but is good value for money and perfectly adequate for a 1 night stay, before a ferry to France. The room was clean and well appointed, although the carpet was a bit grubby. Check-in was easy and the restaurant is right next to the Lodge. This is a very busy double hotel complex and so car parking is sometimes a bit challenging.

A trip to visit family nearby. I know the hotel and sister hotel across the car park very well, having lived and stayed in the area for many years and so a go to hotel if you want a clean, fresh and comfortable room. We had to wait to be checked in as staff not available at first ( a little disappointing after a long journey.!) but eventually booked in without issue. It’s a Staff free hotel but easily navigated and they are on call next door in pub if needed. We would return and use hotel more but it only has showers and no bath. Any longer than a 1 night stay my wife would insist on a room with a bath. So we use sister hotel across car park more. But very good stay for 1 night or for one on business.

No frills hotel in a good location near to the shopping precinct. You have to check in at the bar next door but there's a dedicated desk and the team are super lovely. Rooms are well appointed but the bed was unusually small for the room size and the bathroom could do with a bit of a refresh. All in all though, very good value

Very well located just off the M27. Lots of parking, I stayed in the "Lodge" part rather than the main hotel. The Lodge is brand new, fantastic standard, very quiet, comfortable, great walk in shower, lovely bathroom, magnificent bed, smart TV.... just fantastic. The Bar staff at the bar downstairs which they call Parsons Collar were lovely, helpful and friendly. I would NOT pay to have breakfast there again, a server who doesnt know how long to microwave pastries for, doesnt know how to make a cappuchino, but worse of all, a rude and unhelpful young woman as Maitre'd who makes customers wait outside in the wind and rain until she decides is time to open up. This person put the A in Attitude... she has no concept that residents might have places to go to, so of course she lets the other lady struggle on her own, whilst polishing bar glasses... Totally he wrong person in the wrong front of house job. Loading dishwashers in the back is her optimal job

We have stayed before on a number of occasions as a great budget hotel.So we have used many times for the odd few nights for work, visiting family and friends. It’s very clean comfortable ( although you need to check bed size when booking or if you like a bit of space then possibly go for twin room as “some” of their double beds are standard 4’6 double) and local facilities for shopping and restaurants are excellent. We also used to live and work close by so we know the area well so it’s a great location and easy parking. The hotel is a perfect place to stay when prices are reasonable but demand pushes them up considerably on occasions and then I would much rather stay elsewhere where there are more facilities, as no baths here only showers and other local hotels and there are many of them that have leisure facilities, baths and where full breakfast is included, Here where it’s just a continental type (and extra.!) That said, we would highly recommend it for a few nights and when price reasonable ( in my view under £90 for what’s on offer) it’s a perfect place to stay when you can get those prices so shop around.!

Very comfortably beds, perfect location for our needs, quiet, friendly helpful staff. We requested a twin but were given a double but it was very quickly and easily sorted. Lovely country pub serving delicious food too. Handy having the Lidl across the road too. Only negative is the room was very very warm even with heat completely off and the corridor carpet was very stained and smelt.

Shocked at how basic and worn and stained everything was. The bathroom had no toiletries, no hangers in the room, barely any tea and coffee sachets. Room service room trays were left outside room for the two nights we stayed there. The check in staff were helpful , however. Had to write this review because I was so shocked , it’s not worth what we payed.

Just not the best and overpriced for the quality. Check in was efficient and the staff friendly but the room was tired and the carpet was badly stained. From the stained carpet to the unlabelled bottle, of what we assume was shower gel in the bathroom - through to the empty monster can left in the sink - the experience at Lodge was a let down. The skirting boards are damaged and the whole room just felt like it had been abused. For the price we paid the room was a huge disappointment. The bed was comfy

Stayed at Lodge at Solent for a family wedding. The room we had was very pleasant but spoilt by the bleach stains & marks on the carpet. The room was very clean & there was a good shower. The bed was ok but bit harder than I would have liked We didn't have the continental breakfast but did have a meal in the bar on one of the evenings we stayed, I had the Hunters chicken. It was very average & not a large portion for the price. We found the staff very friendly & helpful.

Room was a good size, bed ok but the fan in the room was very loud at night, plus the room needs blackout blinds as the curtains do not block the right sunshine. Had breakfast in the hotel be warned they add on 10% “optional” service chargeable which I really didn’t appreciate and in my view to ad it automatically is VERY bad practice! If I want to tip I will forcing me means I won’t return! Also great shame they don’t add a taxi as part of there stay and park scheme. Overall just ok

My wife and I stayed for one night and booked a room with a balcony, a slightly better room. We were shocked that the double bed was so small it felt like a 3/4. We have s terrible night sleep squashed together. We won’t stay here again based on this.

A spacious, very clean and comfortable room. At the budget end of the hotel, but no less comfortable. It had everything you needed, in a lovely location Minor points....none of the pump bottles of soap in the bathroom worked, so required the pumps to be removed and manually poured. Also in room 44 there was a constant low rumbling/humming noise, aircon/heating/ventilation Im not sure but did become more pronounced/audible at night, slightly distubing.

The rooms are all modern with new bathrooms, convenient plug points and superfast WIFI. I stayed in Room 39 on the 1st floor without any issues to report. I'll be back over the next few weeks and have multiple trips booked here - rooms are to a consistently better level than the Hotel & Spa (same chain) situated next to the Lodge - the Lodge is also cheaper :)

Nice little place. Rooms are a good size but reception is run from the pub next door so is subject to their opening hours and how busy the bar is when you get there. Problem with the toilet. A stuck valve meant that water kept running through the system and the cistern was constantly topping up. Not very eco, and very noisy through the night.

Not quite sure what look this property was trying to achieve. Rooms are decorated like Ilea children’s department has got mixed up with industrial vibe. Very odd. Pub nextdoor is too busy to run check in processes and serve customers - neither are done well. 3am fire alarm fault was not apologised or compensated for because there were no onsite staff to verify it happened. Hardly the point.

Stayed at the silent the week before and I’d rather pay a little extra to stay there again in future. The lodge was basic and a little tired and did not feel the cleanliness was a great standard. Staff member who checked me in was also a bit grumpy and not very welcoming….. maybe he was just having a bad day.

We were disappointed, both times, by the staff and especially the service in the restaurant and pub, especially on our second stay - the service was lackluster, some of the staff were clearly not trained (such as applying the hotel discount to the meal), and in one particular case one of the young ladies was particularly rude to us as well as other diners. We would probably look at other options close by before we would stay here again.

We stayed here prior to boarding a cruise at Southampton. It was an incredibly pleasing place to have picked. Clean rooms with a lovely pub to eat at, and a shopping area nearby to walk to.

Very well located just off the M27. Lots of parking, I stayed in the "Lodge" part rather than the main hotel. The Lodge is brand new, fantastic standard, very quiet, comfortable, great walk in shower, lovely bathroom, magnificent bed, smart TV.... just fantastic. The Bar staff at the bar downstairs which they call Parsons Collar were lovely, helpful and friendly. I would NOT pay to have breakfast there again, a server who doesnt know how long to microwave pastries for, doesnt know how to make a cappuchino, but worse of all, a rude and unhelpful young woman as Maitre'd who makes customers wait outside in the wind and rain until she decides is time to open up. This person put the A in Attitude... she has no concept that residents might have places to go to, so of course she lets the other lady struggle on her own, whilst polishing bar glasses... Totally he wrong person in the wrong front of house job. Loading dishwashers in the back is her optimal job

We have stayed before on a number of occasions as a great budget hotel.So we have used many times for the odd few nights for work, visiting family and friends. It’s very clean comfortable ( although you need to check bed size when booking or if you like a bit of space then possibly go for twin room as “some” of their double beds are standard 4’6 double) and local facilities for shopping and restaurants are excellent. We also used to live and work close by so we know the area well so it’s a great location and easy parking. The hotel is a perfect place to stay when prices are reasonable but demand pushes them up considerably on occasions and then I would much rather stay elsewhere where there are more facilities, as no baths here only showers and other local hotels and there are many of them that have leisure facilities, baths and where full breakfast is included, Here where it’s just a continental type (and extra.!) That said, we would highly recommend it for a few nights and when price reasonable ( in my view under £90 for what’s on offer) it’s a perfect place to stay when you can get those prices so shop around.!

It was a nice room although walls and carpet were stained. Food in the adjoining restaurant was good at night time, but breakfast really overpriced so didnt bother the second day. Quite comfortable stay quiet rooms.

Room was a good size, bed ok but the fan in the room was very loud at night, plus the room needs blackout blinds as the curtains do not block the right sunshine. Had breakfast in the hotel be warned they add on 10% “optional” service chargeable which I really didn’t appreciate and in my view to ad it automatically is VERY bad practice! If I want to tip I will forcing me means I won’t return! Also great shame they don’t add a taxi as part of there stay and park scheme. Overall just ok

The rooms are big, modern, bright and very comfortable. Bathrooms are fine with large walk in showers, and well equipped. The check-in and food is served in the pub next door. Food is very good and staff excellent and very friendly. If you are going on a cruise, this hotel is about 20 minutes away from the cruise terminals, and very quiet and peaceful. This is the 4th time I've stayed here, and never had a problem.

Check in was easy and everyone was so polite. The room was very clean and tidy and very comfortable bed. Didn’t have a single issue while we were there, and the breakfast in the morning was great. Only note I’d have is that there isn’t a vegan hot breakfast option, had to get the veggie one and remove the egg and hash browns, so would be nice to offer a hot vegan option! Other than that, can’t fault the place, everything was wonderful.

I stayed 1 night at the lodge Staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was very clean and nice room. I was booked by Expedia. The only disadvantage with the lodge you are not allowcyo use the solent swimming pool.

The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom was clean and well organised (I always appreciate when the on/off control isn't under the shower head. The biggest issue I had was two grown adults in a double bed! 😐 It was uncomfortable and I didn't sleep particularly well. I would have thought that in a bedroom of that size there would have been a king size bed!
