The room was clean, but definitely had a funky smell to it. Almost like wet dog. Thought it was coming from the A/C, but realized they allow cats and dogs, so I assumed the people before me had dogs in the room and the smell lingered. I did take take advantage of the indoor pool since Saturday afternoon was a rainy day. The sign said temp was 84, but the pool was cold and definitely didn’t feel like the heater was on, had a horrible smell to it and was green and murky. I didn’t attempt to go in but the stairs we slimy. Other than the room smell and the pool, everything was good. Breakfast was simple, but good and enjoyable. Bathroom was clean as was the bed sheets and the rest of the room.

The lobby is staffed 24 hours with coffee and fresh popcorn. The morning meal always has plenty of choices and is constantly refreshed. The fire pit on the outdoor patio with the tables outside is a nice touch. I saw the lobby being vacuumed at least twice in three hours during the early evening shift. With Dunkin and CVS adjacent, what else is needed??

Check-in was easy. Spacious and clean however the pool was closed due to unforseen circumstance. It was disappointing especially since my son was looking forward to swimming after a long drive. The front desk did offer to refund however it was late afternoon and we didn't want to take a chance at other hotels in the area.

Hotel was listed with a charger for EVs, but were told later that the hotels charfrrs had been removed as Tesla superchargers were installed on the adjacent lot. Consequently had to cancel second night to get charged. Hotel refused refund. Hotrl had anove aversge rooms and breakfast with nice facilities and location

Best value we’ve found in the area…much nicer rooms and better breakfast than the Durham option and just a short drive to UNH. Tesla chargers right outside if you have an EV that’s compatible (unfortunately mine is not yet so I had to go 2 miles down the road to the Circle K to charge, but I’m use to that).

I would have said excellent for everything, except that my room was not made up. I stayed two nights, and no new towels or bed made. I had the do not disturb sign on until I left at about 11am. I returned at 8pm to an unmade bed! The breakfast however was quite good.

I have stayed a few times now. I visit my daughter at college. The hotel is quaint and convenient. The staff is always friendly but the cleaning service basically doesn't clean. Every time I stay there is sticky stuff on the dresser/counter tops and so much dust on the alarm clock I don't think it has been touched since they opened. Still a convenient place just wish the cleaning staff cared a bit more. Thanks

First room had mold on the feeling in the bathroom. Second room had 2 chomp sticks and wipes in the sleeper sofa. After being there for two nights had to ask for the room to be cleaned and was told the cleaning lady called out so it would be difficult!

After check in we went to our room and immediately walked out because it smelled like cigarettes really bad. We went back to the front desk and the two agents seemed agitated that we simply wanted to move rooms because of Cigs. They did however move our room to the one over. The other room also still smelled like cigarettes but not as bad. The room is dated and interior is just meh, but we could get over that. The next morning we found what certainly looks to me like a bed bug. This was vehemently denied by the hotel. I tried to get Expedia involved to at least try something, anything. They gave me a notification that it was denied. I guess I’ll let the community decide what it was from the photo. Note that other reviews say the same or similar. I wouldn’t recommend to ever stay here.

We arrived at the hotel around 11:30 PM and were met with a rather unremarkable welcome at the front desk — not rude, but definitely not warm or engaging. The room was spacious, which was a plus, but it felt quite damp, and the bathroom didn’t seem thoroughly cleaned. The toilet paper wasn’t sealed as you’d typically expect in most hotels and was oddly installed upside down. The toilet seat lid was also poorly installed, making it feel unstable when sitting down. We also noticed some mold in a few spots near the bathtub. The highlight of our stay was definitely the breakfast. There were good options for the whole family, including milk for our toddler, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was okay for just one night, but I wouldn’t have wanted to stay any longer.

We love staying at the Garrison! The rooms are large, comfortable, quiet and clean. The pool was a little chilly but large and very clean. The breakfast was great - lots of options! We enjoyed the free afternoon popcorn and relaxing in the spacious lobby areas. The staff is cheerful, friendly and efficient. We’ve stayed here several times - it’s always our first choice when visiting Dover!

Nice staff, with a couple of folks really standing out in that area. Lack of secure wi-fi was a problem. Convenient location to Portsmouth and rest of seacoast. Room was fine but hard to find lighting for kitchenette area. I did not use amenities, but my partner said gym was smaller than it appeared from photos. Really liked the one hour delayed checkout without fee, and staff was friendly about this.... There was no air conditioning in the lobby and breakfast area during our stay. This was a real problem (!!!) as it was a spell of warm, humid weather. So, breakfast felt uncomfortable.... No rubber bath mats for shower -- safety issue -- and apparently the hotel does not carry them, as staff said put a towel down instead.... Also, room a.c. was hard to control -- either too cold or quickly hot again. Controls worked fine, so I don't really know why getting to "steady state" was a problem, but it was.... Overall, it was a solid experience at a moderate price.

I called around 1pm to see if we could check in early, she said 2pm was no problem. I arrived at 230 and was told was too early to check in. Than count it... 6 times other guests were assigned to my room. I kept having to open the door and say someone is already here. The beds were cheap and awful, the "air conditioner" not only did not keep the room cool but smelled as though hadnt been cleaned in way too long and I left with a chest infection.

The front desk staff made a mistake in taking my payment for a 3 night stay and charged me $1714.00 for a 3 night stay. I asked them to reverse the double charge which was on a Friday. They said the charge would not be reversed until Wed. They also told me the manager was not there until Monday, and I would have to speak with her. I was checking out on Monday and I asked for the manager and all of a sudden she was not in that day. So basically they gave me the run around and did not release the double charge to my account for one week. I called Bank of America and they said the double charges were still processing so they could not dispute until the hotel actually charged this to my account. Needless to say, after one week the hotel finally released the hold on my money and the charge dropped off of my account. Meanwhile, they had been paid on Monday. Unbelievable!! Also, after a long day and coming back to the hotel my room had not been cleaned, and I was told, "you have to officially request housekeeping, otherwise your room will not be cleaned." The room itself was nothing special for $300/night. It was a standard, non-updated room with very cheap furniture. The refrigerator was very narrow and I couldn't fit leftover containers. There was no microwave in the room, literally no amenities. Iron didn't work, I mean I really could go on and on....but the hotel is a rip-off and the staff needs lessons in customer service.
The front desk staff made a mistake in taking my payment for a 3 night stay and charged me $1714.00 for a 3 night stay. I asked them to reverse the double charge which was on a Friday. They said the charge would not be reversed until Wed. They also told me the manager was not there until Monday, and I would have to speak with her. I was checking out on Monday and I asked for the manager and all of a sudden she was not in that day. So basically they gave me the run around and did not release the double charge to my account for one week. I called Bank of America and they said the double charges were still processing so they could not dispute until the hotel actually charged this to my account. Needless to say, after one week the hotel finally released the hold on my money and the charge dropped off of my account. Meanwhile, they had been paid on Monday. Unbelievable!! Also, after a long day and coming back to the hotel my room had not been cleaned, and I was told, "you have to officially request housekeeping, otherwise your room will not be cleaned." The breakfast offered a variety of options. It was also very kid friendly for my picky eaters. The staff was friendly and super supportive. They even gave my little guy extra attention on his birthday. I lived that there is a cva right in the parking lot in case you forget any essentials. Although, this hotel offered toothbrushes, makeup removal wipes and much more. Anything you need is pretty much rifht on site. Overall, this hotel was wonderful and we would absolutely stay here again.

The tv didn’t work, no hairdryer was available and when we said something to the staff they replied “we will leave a note”. Very rude and unprofessional. Then we had to listen to 2 of them speaking very loudly to each other while we were having breakfast. So annoying. Ive stayed here before, but won’t return.

First -we would definitely visit hotel again! Extremely friendly staff. From front desk to cleaning staff - very positive folks - smiles and human. We accidentally left an important biz folder in our room and had to return to hotel to retrieve. Front desk safeguarded and gave it back safe and sound. Another front desk person took the time to share many helpful insights into places we were visiting. Amazing Halloween theme seasonal decor. Big deer ran across back of property. Nice facilities for relaxing visit.

The hotel was wonderful! We arrived and the entire hotel was decorated for Halloween (inside and outside). Jamie checked us in and she was wonderful. We had an issue with our television and she came right to the room and fixed it right away. Everyone working at the hotel was super pleasant. Would definitely stay here again when in the area.

I called around 1pm to see if we could check in early, she said 2pm was no problem. I arrived at 230 and was told was too early to check in. The beds were cheap and awful, the "air conditioner" not only did not keep the room cool but smelled as though hadnt been cleaned in way too long and I left with a chest infection.

The Garrison was amazing. They were so welcoming. When we arrived and they found out we were traveling with our Corgi the lady at the front desk gave us a little treat bag with a water dish and some milk bones. It was so thoughtful. Unlike other hotels, there were no strict rules for having the dog. We were able to leave him in his kennel in the room and go do some shopping. The hotel was very clean, great spots to hang out inside and out.

Stayed at The Garrison Hotel & Suites Dover-Durham on April 6th-7th. Clean, neat and convenient location. Soft pillows, comfortable bed. Great shower! Good water pressure, great bath products. Coffee was good. Continental breakfast was okay. They need plant-based milk and more allergen-free options. Larger fridge in room. Easy parking. The hotel is lovely and in a very convenient location to access Dover and connections to major highways. Portsmouth and the sea coast are very close as well. Staff are very friendly and the hotel is kept in very nice condition.

The beds were comfortable and the rooms were quiet. A little more modern than the hallway area. We stayed for a quick overnight at a college nearby so for us it was just used for a bed. Breakfast was not great and we ended up grabbing only a juice.

We love staying at the Garrison! The rooms are large, comfortable, quiet and clean. The pool was a little chilly but large and very clean. The breakfast was great - lots of options! We enjoyed the free afternoon popcorn and relaxing in the spacious lobby areas. The staff is cheerful, friendly and efficient. We’ve stayed here several times - it’s always our first choice when visiting Dover!

We have always thought this hotel was great. This stay was different. The lighting in the room was horrible and very dim. The breakfast used to include hot eggs and sausage. This weekend they only had bagels/muffins/pancakes/cereal etc - not very low-carb friendly. Disappointing. No microwave in room either. You had to go to lobby to warm anything up.

We stayed 2 nights over the labor day weekend @240 per night. The room smelled humid and stuffy. Staff was good. The breakfast items were limited. The bagels, muffins are grocery store quality and not from bakery. They were of low qualify. On sunday they server scrambled eggs but next day only cold breakfast. The room rates was same. We generally select these type of hotel expecting good quality breakfast. Otherwise hotel was fine.

I wish I had called first because the pool was not open and available. My only came to use the pool with my granddaughter. It was kind of a weekend thing and then they said that we could use the pool the next morning, but we still couldn’t use the pool next time I guess I’ll call Frist about pool before booking
