Our stay at Biggin Hall was generally good. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful without being ingratiating. Our room was comfortable and clean, but a little tired in parts and could have done with some TLC, more so in the bathroom than in the bedroom. The cold tap on the washbasin was difficult to turn fully off and the whole washbasin could do with updating to a more modern fitment with a mixer tap. The bedroom did become uncomfortably warm during the night. However, the other facilities at the hotel were very good. The lounges were comfortable and we felt able to relax. The menu was good and the food excellent. My fillet steak was certainly one of the best I have ever had. The location of the hotel and its setting cannot be faulted and it was just what we were looking for. It is within easy striking distance of the local towns, villages and attractions such as Chatsworth, Bolsover, Buxton, the scenic high peak area and the plague village of Eyam to name only a few. Like most hotels today the dining areas are always full of hard surfaces which reflect noise and which then causes people to talk even louder in order to be heard by their companions; the pianist on one night of our stay didn't help and we felt the loud piano was not really necessary. Soft furnishings would help to absorb the sound and improve the overall ambience of the dining areas. That said we enjoyed our stay and would recommend Biggin Hall. The complimentary packed lunch is excellent.

Loved the room. Very nice staff, excellent local walks. Dinner was pretty good. Good breakfast and packed lunch included in the price, excellent value. Dog friendly, though you have to eat in a quirky little greenhouse. EV charging on site was handy.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at Biggin Hall Hotel. The listed buildings of stone were stunning and grounds were lovely to walk around. The Tissington Trail is nearby for the more adventurous. The hotel staff were professional; reception staff were welcoming and helpful, the waiting staff friendly, very helpful and kind to our 2 dogs, who accompanied us. We sat in the glass houses for breakfast and dinner, which suited us, with our dogs. The food, both breakfast and dinner were excellent. We had complimentary packed lunches on both days of our stay; a very welcome and generous extra. We also had complimentary fresh milk, prosecco and ale in the fridge in our room. The ONLY downside to our stay was that our room was a little on the small side and in the attic, and we kept on banging our heads on the low ceiling and velux windows, when opened. I must also add, watch out for extremely hot water in the basin and bath/shower. There is a sign, but I didn't expect the water to be as hot when standing in the bath waiting for the shower to warm up. We would love to stay again, however, and next time we will choose a bigger room. Thank you to Biggin Hall.

Beautiful is building and grounds. Location ideal for walking. Reception greeting was informative and pleasant. Staff were excellent throughout our stay. Our room was ground floor, beautifully presented and ideal for our dog. With having the dog we didn’t want to leave her in the room (as they aren’t allowed in the main building or dining room) so opted for dining in the Greenhouse for our evening meal and breakfast. Service and food was exceptional. Nice little touch receiving our pack lunch for our days walking. We will certainly return in the future.

I needed a break, for myself, and decided an overnight in this hotel was a good option. The building is impressive, plenty of parking, the staff really and genuinely lovely (which makes a massive difference these days). The main house looked to be clean, welcoming and up to date. I had (last minute) booked a double bed room, which was located in the Lodge, I asked if the room was soundproofed and received a rather non committed reassurance. Upon arrival I found I was allocated a twin (single bed) room, on the ground floor, next to the entrance door (which didn't seem to have a lock and was open to a road near a campsite/pub). I felt a little uncertain/uncomfortable about this, but I knew the hotel was full and the location is lovely. I enjoyed a lovely drink sitting in the garden and returned to my room. Very quickly became apparent that there is no soundproofing at all in the room/building - so listening to the front door slamming/stairs creaking/bedroom doors slamming/people talking/very loud noises from above/small dog barking etc. I realised I would not be getting a relaxing/restful break and decided to leave. No idea if the main house or Courtyard rooms are any quieter - but check before you book! Such a shame as there are many positives.

Had a lovely stay with our dog for just the one night! We were made to feel very welcome and comfortable and had breakfast in one of the glass houses with our dog. Set in some beautiful countryside and a place I can recommend and stay at again.

The hotel had lots of character. We couldnt fault the room. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The little touches like fresh milk and drinks in the fridge on arrival. My wife and I booked a weekend stay here and from the moment we arrived until we left we had a wonderful experience. The staff are all very friendly and efficient while not being too overbearing and nothing is too much trouble. On arrival we had complimentary bottles of beer and fizz in the fridge along with fresh milk and a large bottle of tap water. We had an evening meal the first night and the menu was varied and changes daily. The food was excellent and the ambience made for a relaxing evening. Breakfast menu is varied with continental and cooked options and the cooked food is made to order so very fresh. They even offer a complimentary packed lunch for both nights of our stay which was a great addition. All in all we couldn't fault it and will be going back.

We have stayed at Biggin Hall many times before and it never fails to please. Top class service at breakfast and dinner and the meals are a real treat. The location of the hotel is idyllic with plenty of parking and wonderful walks from the doorstep plus of course it is dog friendly! Wonderful!

Superb hotel with all the beauty of an old fashioned hotel but with all the modern amenities. Immaculately kept buildings and grounds. Extremely friendly, welcoming and efficient staff in all areas of hotel. Breakfast was 10/10. Great selection and hot food perfectly cooked to order. Lots of extras including a lovely touch of a preordered pack lunch to take on hikes. Everything was top class inc products in room. Can’t fault it at all. A fabulous find and I’ll be back.

Restaurant and quality of food excellent. Really thoughtful hospitality including drinks in mini bar on arrival and next day picnic lunch. Very attractive area in Derbyshire Dales and quiet country house setting on edge of village. We stayed in the main house. Bathroom would benefit from some updating but this did not detract from a wonderful break in a lovely hotel with great staff

I needed a break away on my own after a recent bereavement. Biggie Hall Hotel surpassed my wildest expectations. Such a beautiful Hotel: really friendly, helpful staff. Immaculate, clean, stylish room. I dined in : good food. Stunning gardens and an awesome 17 century house with immaculate decor.

A lovely break in the Peak District. The hotel is warm and comfortable with a great restaurant and fantastic food. The service was exceptional. The only downside was the tired room and especially the bathroom that we stayed in. But I would recommend this hotel and would happily stay again.

Fantastic stay, the room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The customer service from all members of staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good and the added touch of a complimentary packed lunch and welcome drinks in the room were a very thoughtful touch, as was the birthday dessert presented at dinner for husbands birthday. Would totally recommend Biggin Hall hotel and we will definitely re visit.

This was an absolutely enjoyable visit. The staff were extremely friendly, polite, welcoming and helpful. The restaraunt and bar were clean and again service was great. Could go on but everything was perfect.

Instructions on getting to my room were inaccurate (arrived at 2230hrs) but on returning to reception I was guided by the receptionist. No milk cartons for tea/coffee and loads of cobwebs below the chest of drawers but otherwise ok. Bed comfy.

It is within easy striking distance of the local towns, villages and attractions such as Chatsworth, Bolsover, Buxton, the scenic high peak area and the plague village of Eyam to name only a few. Like most hotels today the dining areas are always full of hard surfaces which reflect noise and which then causes people to talk even louder in order to be heard by their companions; the pianist on one night of our stay didn't help and we felt the loud piano was not really necessary. Soft furnishings would help to absorb the sound and improve the overall ambience of the dining areas. That said we enjoyed our stay and would recommend Biggin Hall. The complimentary packed lunch is excellent.

I had a lovely overnight stay at Biggin Hall, staff were really nice and efficient, the food was very good and it was reasonably priced. My room was small but very comfortable and even had complimentary drinks in the fridge, it was above the boiler room so I was woken at 6am but apart from that everything was very good and I will definitely return on my next trip in that area. They gave me a packed lunch to take away which was a nice touch.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at Biggin Hall Hotel. The listed buildings of stone were stunning and grounds were lovely to walk around. The Tissington Trail is nearby for the more adventurous. The hotel staff were professional; reception staff were welcoming and helpful, the waiting staff friendly, very helpful and kind to our 2 dogs, who accompanied us. We sat in the glass houses for breakfast and dinner, which suited us, with our dogs. The food, both breakfast and dinner were excellent. We had complimentary packed lunches on both days of our stay; a very welcome and generous extra. We also had complimentary fresh milk, prosecco and ale in the fridge in our room. The ONLY downside to our stay was that our room was a little on the small side and in the attic, and we kept on banging our heads on the low ceiling and velux windows, when opened. I must also add, watch out for extremely hot water in the basin and bath/shower. There is a sign, but I didn't expect the water to be as hot when standing in the bath waiting for the shower to warm up. We would love to stay again, however, and next time we will choose a bigger room. Thank you to Biggin Hall.

I needed a break, for myself, and decided an overnight in this hotel was a good option. The building is impressive, plenty of parking, the staff really and genuinely lovely (which makes a massive difference these days). The main house looked to be clean, welcoming and up to date. I had (last minute) booked a double bed room, which was located in the Lodge, I asked if the room was soundproofed and received a rather non committed reassurance. Upon arrival I found I was allocated a twin (single bed) room, on the ground floor, next to the entrance door (which didn't seem to have a lock and was open to a road near a campsite/pub). I felt a little uncertain/uncomfortable about this, but I knew the hotel was full and the location is lovely. I enjoyed a lovely drink sitting in the garden and returned to my room. Very quickly became apparent that there is no soundproofing at all in the room/building - so listening to the front door slamming/stairs creaking/bedroom doors slamming/people talking/very loud noises from above/small dog barking etc. I realised I would not be getting a relaxing/restful break and decided to leave. No idea if the main house or Courtyard rooms are any quieter - but check before you book! Such a shame as there are many positives.

My wife and I booked a weekend stay here and from the moment we arrived until we left we had a wonderful experience. The staff are all very friendly and efficient while not being too overbearing and nothing is too much trouble. On arrival we had complimentary bottles of beer and fizz in the fridge along with fresh milk and a large bottle of tap water. We had an evening meal the first night and the menu was varied and changes daily. The food was excellent and the ambience made for a relaxing evening. Breakfast menu is varied with continental and cooked options and the cooked food is made to order so very fresh. They even offer a complimentary packed lunch for both nights of our stay which was a great addition. All in all we couldn't fault it and will be going back.

we have been a guest of Biggin Hall hotel 5 times over 20 years. This visit (my wife and I) was to have a few days away before the hysterics of Chrisatmas. We use Hotels a lot for holidays in the UK, and gradually over the last 10/12 years, there has been a gradual decline in the service/standards particularly of food. But not Biggin Hall Hotel. their attention to detail is exemplary. the food is prepared at the hotel (not bought in and heated in a microwave!) the breakfasts set you up for the day, and packed lunches are provided. The fact that the hotel was almost full at this time indicated that others have found similar experiences. You must visit and enjoy the experience, I'm sure you wont regret it!!

On arrival we had complimentary bottles of beer and fizz in the fridge along with fresh milk and a large bottle of tap water. We had an evening meal the first night and the menu was varied and changes daily. The food was excellent and the ambience made for a relaxing evening. Breakfast menu is varied with continental and cooked options and the cooked food is made to order so very fresh. They even offer a complimentary packed lunch for both nights of our stay which was a great addition. All in all we couldn't fault it and will be going back.

We have stayed at Biggin Hall many times before and it never fails to please. Top class service at breakfast and dinner and the meals are a real treat. The location of the hotel is idyllic with plenty of parking and wonderful walks from the doorstep plus of course it is dog friendly! Wonderful!

Nice, clean ground floor single room with a double bed and off road parking. Great location not too far from the main A515 road. Excellent breakfast, attentive staff and a packed lunch included. Dinner was excellent.
