Hotel in line with normal Shangri-La standards. Team here however was absolutely superb - helpful, friendly, great fun people. They made the stay particularly enjoyable. Breakfast is solid 5 star level with good, diverse buffet; the capital bar is wonderful, world standard. Food and beverage was strong throughout. Will stay here again.

The hotel was clean and quiet. I stayed on first week of Dec, occupancy seems pretty low if I judged it based on the number of room lights that were on during evening/night time. Staffs greeted me everywhere I go. Breakfast food was alright, i would say variety is alright, taste wise was a little blend in general. Hot food was not warm enough, except for curry. Gym was huge and had a lot of machines available. There is only a shopping mall nearby. There is also a beach nearby, but other than that not much places of interest within walking distance. Overall, still a good stay.

Staff were fabulous, super helpful. Room was beautiful and pool area was great with a big enough pool to actually do some laps. Breakfast was really great, plenty of options for everyone and really good food. Only think I would say, I had sea view room on 18th floor, there was music event on the beach both nights so was very loud in room which meant I couldn't get a good sleep. If I stayed again I would go for a lake view room as this would likely be quieter, for the amount of time you actually spend looking out the window at the sea.... better to get a quiet sleep. The hotel has direct access to the Galle Face Mall which is handy. Note that the ATM in Mall doesn't always work and the hotel doesn't have one. The hotel seems to have a lot of events and the Tiki Bar on the roof was closed for private event when I was there which was a shame. I really loved this hotel though and would stay there again.

Wir waren zwei ganze Wochen in diesem Hotel und waren sehr zufrieden. Die Zimmer sind sehr, sehr sauber und werden zweimal täglich gereinigt. Der Pool ist nicht gigantisch, aber reicht völlig aus. Die Liegen sind sehr bequem, allerdings haben nicht alle einen Sonnenschirm. Wir hatten jedoch immer einen, da wir morgens immer sehr früh am Pool waren. Das Frühstück wird in den Bewertungen sehr gelobt, daher hatte ich hohe Erwartungen. Es war gut, aber ich hatte mir mehr erhofft. Viele der einheimischen Gerichte haben mir nicht geschmeckt und waren auch jeden Tag gleich, daher blieb es meist bei Speck und Eiern. Die Süßgebäcke waren etwas „pappig“ (nicht essbar), dafür gab es frische Pancakes. Man kann an drei Orten frühstücken, im Central ist die Auswahl aber am größten. Dort ist auch sehr viel los. Trotz viel Personal mussten wir oft lange auf unseren bestellten Kaffee warten. Auch die Horizon Lounge (für die wir einen deutlichen Aufpreis gezahlt haben) habe ich mir besser vorgestellt. Es gibt zwar den ganzen Tag kostenlose Getränke, aber die Snacks sind wirklich nur kleine Häppchen für zwischendurch und immer die gleichen. Der Ausblick im 32. Stock ist jedoch sehr schön. Besonders geschätzt haben wir auch den direkten Zugang zur Shopping Mall Galle Face – sehr praktisch, mit vielen Restaurants und schöner Atmosphäre am Abend. Ich würde das Hotel grundsätzlich wieder buchen.

If you're looking for a relaxing weekend, look no further than the Shangri-La. My wife and I booked a weekend at the Shangri-la, and returned home fully relaxed and ready to resume the day to day stresses of work. The pool is well kept and the staff brings cooled towels, water and fresh fruit throughout the day. The Chi Spa is amazing! We had some of the best massages ever there. Shang's Palace and the Capital Bar and Grill are both delicious and the staff is very attentive. The breakfast buffet is enormous, and offers a bit of something for everyone, and again the staff are extremely attentive. We will definitely stay at the Shangri-La the next time we are in Colombo.

Det ska vara ett lyxhotell, det är okej men inte speciellt lyxigt tyvärr.. kanske för att va i detta land. Rum är okej, av väldigt kall även på 28 grader, bra te o schampo, ångbastu samt bubbelpool städades ej mellan dagarna då samma glasflaskor stod kvar tex .. ena duschen stopp i avlopp, bubbelpool saknade flera munstycken som lossnat i övrigt okej men inte så prisvärt

今回は深夜便到着でチェックインが遅い時間でフロントでの施設説明/サービス説明が雑だったのは残念…。部屋は景色/アメニティ(スパセイロン)/設備で満足できますが、日々のメイクアップは何かが必ず不足(タオルやアメニティがない…)しており、もやもや感が。 朝食は3階のCentralという大型レストランで各国料理を楽しめるブッフェスタイル。地場/インド/日本/中華/中東など様々な料理を朝から楽しんで英気を養えます。お気に入りはドーサやエッグホッパーを作ってくれるインドカウンター、日本ではなかなか食べられない料理を朝から美味しく食しました。 場所も料理も設備も良いけど運用するスタッフが何となく残念で、ホスピタリティ不足を随所(フロントやレストランでの対応)で感じられて完全にリラックスして過ごすという感じではありませんでした。

The room was clean comfortable and I kept oversleeping on the bed. Being right next One Galle Face helped provide a variety of shopping and culinary options. Hotel staff were very polite and helpful.

Staff were fabulous, super helpful. Room was beautiful and pool area was great with a big enough pool to actually do some laps. Breakfast was really great, plenty of options for everyone and really good food. Only think I would say, I had sea view room on 18th floor, there was music event on the beach both nights so was very loud in room which meant I couldn't get a good sleep. If I stayed again I would go for a lake view room as this would likely be quieter, for the amount of time you actually spend looking out the window at the sea.... better to get a quiet sleep. The hotel has direct access to the Galle Face Mall which is handy. Note that the ATM in Mall doesn't always work and the hotel doesn't have one. The hotel seems to have a lot of events and the Tiki Bar on the roof was closed for private event when I was there which was a shame. I really loved this hotel though and would stay there again.

Hotel in line with normal Shangri-La standards. Team here however was absolutely superb - helpful, friendly, great fun people. They made the stay particularly enjoyable. Breakfast is solid 5 star level with good, diverse buffet; the capital bar is wonderful, world standard. Food and beverage was strong throughout. Will stay here again.

Like most Shangri La's the hotel is a pleasant place to stay. However the service here leaves much to be desired. Prior to my stay I had contacted the hotel about arranging to host an event. I was speaking with someone on whatsapp who suddenly stopped responding. I followed up twice afterwards but still with no response, so I gave up and looked elsewhere. Then prior to arrival I booked an airport shuttle as I was landing at 1am so didn't want to deal with the hassle of booking a local taxi from a foreign airport. I arrive and there is no car. So I have to withdraw local currency and find a cab. I get to the hotel and inform the manager on duty who assures me he will look into it and follow up. I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and no one reached out to me to either apologize or follow up about why these issues popped up in the first place.

Asked me for a deposit of LKR 100,000 but still wouldn't bill the bar tab to my room, and demanded cash. Only backed off when I asked to speak to the manager. The check in process was also annoying because the key card didn't work on my room door and I had to come back to the front desk. The bell boy delivered my bag to a different room, even though my room number was clearly marked on the tag. After checking out, when the bag was being loaded, I noticed my kit bag side pockets were unzipped and opened in two places.

Not what I expected from Shangri la brand but it’s okay ! There are many areas where they can improve one of them is service staff near the smoking zone cafe. Either they are super busy or they won’t bother about guests at all. You keep asking for coffee or something and they will make sure you have to ask a couple of time before they serve you one

To be in the position where your children become unwell overseas is extremely stressful, we were fortunate however to experience a service at Shangri-la Colombo that went above and beyond my expectations of any accomodation. A particular mention to the chefs- particularly the head chef who prepared special meals to accomodate my 2 year old sons recovery, the restaurant staff, the hotel staff who daily asked of my childrens wellbeing & empathising being parents themselves. The volume of housekeeping we required was WELL above our quota but not once was there a single comment. A particular mention of the restaurant manager (Maki); who on one occasion upon seeing my level of distress experiencing this kind of event while being away from home responded- "while you are away from home, separated from your own family- you become a part of ours here", numerous occasions during our stay you offered if we required "absolutely any assistance" possible to simply contact you, this individual is an absolute asset to Shangri-la chain, i can't emphasize that enough, he was incredibly helpful. I realise there is a certain level of expectation when staying at higher end accomodation, this experience excelled above and beyond. I would without hesitation recommend any family stay here, it's especially when the unexpected occurs travelling this kind of support exceeds any monetary considerations. Thank you Shangri-la Colombo!!! ❤️🇱🇰

The hotel is right across from a boardwalk on the ocean, so there are nice views. The staff are very nice and helpful. Rooms very clean and amenities are good. Buffet is good, lots of choices. Security is tight. We had a very nice stay! No complaints.

We recently stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo and had an overall excellent experience. The hotel itself is beautiful, impeccably clean, and the service throughout was professional and warm. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained, and the facilities throughout the hotel were of a very high standard. The only reason I am not giving a full five-star rating is due to the breakfast experience on our first morning, which unfortunately did not meet the expectations one would have of a hotel of this calibre. We were seated in a far section not typically used for breakfast, which was quite far from the food stations and had no staff presence to assist us. The egg station was understaffed, with only one chef and limited service plates, and basic condiments like salt and pepper were missing from the tables. Additionally, only instant oats were available rather than cooked oats, and there was no hot milk jug provided—something we've found standard at other five-star hotels. That said, we are pleased to note that these issues were addressed in the following days, and the breakfast experience significantly improved, reflecting the service standard we expected from Shangri-La. Despite the rocky start to our mornings, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return. Thank you to the staff for making the rest of our visit so enjoyable.

Training of personnel is not satisfactory. This is very visible for waiters in the restaurant. Menus are not updated with regards of items not available. Waiters are not aware of food and beverage they don't have in stock. As an example; orange juice was not available on two stays within one week. Staff is polite but not trained to a level which much be expected for a 5 star hotel.

Wir waren zwei ganze Wochen in diesem Hotel und waren sehr zufrieden. Die Zimmer sind sehr, sehr sauber und werden zweimal täglich gereinigt. Der Pool ist nicht gigantisch, aber reicht völlig aus. Die Liegen sind sehr bequem, allerdings haben nicht alle einen Sonnenschirm. Wir hatten jedoch immer einen, da wir morgens immer sehr früh am Pool waren. Das Frühstück wird in den Bewertungen sehr gelobt, daher hatte ich hohe Erwartungen. Es war gut, aber ich hatte mir mehr erhofft. Viele der einheimischen Gerichte haben mir nicht geschmeckt und waren auch jeden Tag gleich, daher blieb es meist bei Speck und Eiern. Die Süßgebäcke waren etwas „pappig“ (nicht essbar), dafür gab es frische Pancakes. Man kann an drei Orten frühstücken, im Central ist die Auswahl aber am größten. Dort ist auch sehr viel los. Besonders geschätzt haben wir auch den direkten Zugang zur Shopping Mall Galle Face – sehr praktisch, mit vielen Restaurants und schöner Atmosphäre am Abend. Ich würde das Hotel grundsätzlich wieder buchen.
Wir waren zwei ganze Wochen in diesem Hotel und waren sehr zufrieden. Die Zimmer sind sehr, sehr sauber und werden zweimal täglich gereinigt. Der Pool ist nicht gigantisch, aber reicht völlig aus. Die Liegen sind sehr bequem, allerdings haben nicht alle einen Sonnenschirm. Wir hatten jedoch immer einen, da wir morgens immer sehr früh am Pool waren. Das Frühstück wird in den Bewertungen sehr gelobt, daher hatte ich hohe Erwartungen. Es war gut, aber ich hatte mir mehr erhofft. Viele der einheimischen Gerichte haben mir nicht geschmeckt und waren auch jeden Tag gleich, daher blieb es meist bei Speck und Eiern. Die Süßgebäcke waren etwas „pappig“ (nicht essbar), dafür gab es frische Pancakes. Man kann an drei Orten frühstücken, im Central ist die Auswahl aber am größten. Dort ist auch sehr viel los. During the late hours of the evening, when my family and I were waiting, sitting in the lounge area was extremely helpful as it provided some comfort as we waited for our taxi. What we did not particularly find helpful was at breakfast we asked for coffee and the lady took our order but we did not get our coffee after asking twice.

If you're looking for a relaxing weekend, look no further than the Shangri-La. My wife and I booked a weekend at the Shangri-la, and returned home fully relaxed and ready to resume the day to day stresses of work. The pool is well kept and the staff brings cooled towels, water and fresh fruit throughout the day. The Chi Spa is amazing! We had some of the best massages ever there. Shang's Palace and the Capital Bar and Grill are both delicious and the staff is very attentive. The breakfast buffet is enormous, and offers a bit of something for everyone, and again the staff are extremely attentive. We will definitely stay at the Shangri-La the next time we are in Colombo.

Incredible hotel as expected. Dining was expansive and delicious, staff in the restaurant were fantastic also. Check-in was friendly and kind, we were offered an upgrade for a small extra charge which we opted for. We were also able to get late check out for no charge which was very helpful and impressive. The horizon lounge was great, very good food and cocktails and the views were beautiful. Room was large and luxurious, my only slight downside is cleanliness wasn't 100%, there was dust and hairs on some of the fixtures and lightswitches etc. The hotel is in a very busy area, despite being on the 31st floor we could hear music and base coming from a party location nearby up until 4am on one of the nights.
