Brownlows Inn

It was difficult finding the hotel, as there were no photos of the outside, and google had shown a completely different building. There was only a small sign in a row of shop signage, and a few doors down is a pub named brownlows inn - beer, music & sports. Finally, after finding the hotel I had to lob my heavy luggage up a flight some stairs to get into reception. The lady at reception was pleasant, handed me a keycard and explained the way to my room and gave necessary information. The bedroom was small, but suitable for a short stay fitted with a queen size bed, a shelf with kettle, tea and coffee but unfortunately no spoon to stir! An electric heater as well as a fan was available too. Bathroom was compact, a cubicle shower, loo and a very small sink - it was hard to fill the kettle without splashing everything everywhere. The window was open for ventilation - it was quite high up, and impossible to reach unless you stand on the bed. I had used a clothes hanger to shut it, as it was quite chilly. The bed was rather firm.

The Inn is very central and the staff were very friendly but I wouldn't recommend it. The room was tiny & claustrophobic. There is no lift. There is A Lot of noise from outside so it's hard to get any sleep.

I am shocked that Expedia would even put this place on their website. When we walked into the place, there were 2 drunk girls coming down the stairs and they almost fell over. There were no elevators, and there was a maze to get into our room. Down a hallway, stairs to go up, then stairs to go down, then another hallway. The man at the front desk had to take us to our room bc he said we wouldn’t find it. The “room” had a double bed and 2 single beds. It was so crammed into this tiny room, that we could not walk to the beds. The “mattresses” had springs sticking out of them. I have literally travelled everywhere and I have never had worse accommodations. The staff was very friendly and kind. They were the o Lu bright light in this nightmare of a stay. Don’t stay here. It’s dreadful.

This is a strange place... Clearly it has been renovated recently, but it's lacking in so many ways.. Generally, the staff are super-helpful, and I won't fault them. The hotel is actually two separate properties on Mount Pleasant, and the rooms in the building further up the street are really small... In the other building the rooms are bigger, but I was surprised to find that there are not bedside tables or lights, so all you have is the ceiling lights... The bathroom is fine, but my room had the tiniest hand basin I'd ever seen, and whilst a kettle is provided in the room, it is impossible to fill it up from the tap... Still, it's central with some good places to eat nearby, but I'm pretty sure you could do better for the same money elsewhere...

Used it for a stag party weekend. I mean the room size was ok but to have the room kettle on the window seemed dangerous. There was stains in the toilet when we arrived so clearly not cleaned very well. The bedding was very/heavy and weighted, which wasn’t needed when it was so warm outside and inside the room. No air con and the windows didn’t open wide so no air flow coming in. We stayed in room 4 and you need a masters to find it,….. expect to find a maze of corridors. I think we paid £149, which don’t get me wrong it was cheaper than the big chains but still expensive for what it is. Probably wouldn’t use it again if I’m honest.

We needed a family room and unfortunately it was a long way from the hotel entrance and had numerous sets of stairs which were hard to navigate with large suitcases. Room was worn and weary. Very cramped. Couple of staff were helpful a couple were not overly.

I booked for one night at the last minute and got a very good deal. Hotel is 5 mins from the station and near to all attractions. Room was fine for a night with all of the basics. There's no lift so be aware if stairs aren't for you

Room was awful , nothing as described when booking . Miles away from reception down an long corridor Bed was broken , dirty windows and smelt of cannabis

I got a room which has a single bed when I reserved a twin bed room. The property manger claimed that they had a mistake with the picture they put on Hotels.com. The bathroom was stinky from the drain, the door lock was not working so I needed the receptionist come to lock and unlock the door every time I wanted to leave the room and come back. The room was the dirtiest I ever saw and only a door separated it from the other room so basically it was a shared room

LOVELY GIRL ON RECEPTION BUT - Absolutely disgusting! Was like walking into a brothel. The bed was filthy with stains all over the covers. The mattress sat on top of a piece of wood screwed to the base. The bathroom absolutely stunk and was thick in mould. Needless to say we checked out within 10 minutes of checking in. Would NOT recommend this place to my worst enemy. AVOID!!!!!!

Very basic, would not stay again . Very small bathroom . Floor dirty, my feet were dirty walking around bare footed.

Dirty hotell in general and the room, especially bathroom/toilett reeked of mould.

Brownlows is great for an overnight cost effective stay in liverpool. Clean rooms, comfortable beds and friendly staff. Always stay at Brownlows if available.

Well positioned in the center of Liverpool, you pay for what you get. Room/bedding/towels where stained and had hairs on. Music on till around 4am in surrounding area to be expected

We stayed here for one night on 15th Dec 2023. The hotel is great for the price and the room was spacious. The only thing we found tough was that the bathroom was too tiny. The washing basin is really tiny and the water heater was not functioning well.

Place was clean, we had room number 9, Room was very small,no storage area. Had to fill the via a cup.sink is tiny.would go again, but would go in the three bedroom room next time .avoid basic rooms.

Room one is so small the bed fits in all 4 walls and leaves no space. Not good for anyone with any kind of physical challenges. Staff were great on both days.

Room was on top of disco bar and other bars were across the road the music was thumping loud it vibrated the room I had to walk around town till 11:00 p.m. when the bar underneath stopped however bars across the road continued through the night. People should be made aware that thumping loud excessive noise comes from bars below & surrounding area.

Basic room but poor blinds and a windows that wouldn’t close made for a poor nights sleep

Worst Room Ever. Do not book here. Rip off!!!! By far the worst value and truly awful accommodation. I booked a standard double room with large single bed with city view and this is what I got, see the pictures. This was Room 8 and was totally not as described. More like a cupboard or cell!! I would class it as small even for a single room never mind a double. There was not even enough room for a bedside cabinet!!! No room to store a case or hang anything up. The overhead bedside light did not work, neither did the double socket by the side of the bed. The TV had no aerial connection so limited to a few channels. Wash basin that small you could only just about wash your hands and nothing else. Shower thermostat was broken so water that hot it was unusable. High risk of scalding. My city view through the small window was a brick wall with large extractor fan. The window was that high up you had to get on the bed to look out at the "Stunning city view". Bed pushed up against the wall, you could not even walk round it. The place is like a maze. I could not recommend this place to anyone and would advise not booking and looking elsewhere. You do not get what you pay for. I will be lodging an official complaint with Expedia and the hotel. No body to complain to. Only positive was the central location.

The room was clean. Although it was small, that was ok for me because I stayed alone. I wished I could've had a bigger table to put my toiletries in the room because there is no space in the toilet room for that. There were multiple options for dinner nearby just walking between 5 and 10 minutes. One issue was the noise at night from a bar/karaoke which was nearby. Also, there were not dresser to store my clothes.

After checking in and being out for the day, when we came back to our room later the key card wouldn’t work. The girl at reception didn’t know much and couldn’t help us to get in. After calling her manager we were told they would move us to a different room for the night despite all our belongings being in the locked room and that the manager would sort it out the next morning. We weren’t going to move rooms without any of our things and only when we put our foot down about this did the manager explain to the girl at reception how to get the door to open which we still had to do ourselves as she couldn’t figure it out. Completely unprofessional from the manager being too lazy to help and for not having properly trained staff. Took about an hour to get into our room and manager said nothing to us about it the next morning and didn’t offer an apology. Wouldn’t stay here again.

Clean and centrally located. < 5 minutes walk from Lime Street Station and 15 to Albert Docks. Staff was super friendly. Minor issues- there is a nightclub right next door, so if you are a light sleeper, beware. The shower door would not fully close and I just lived with it because I was afraid I would break it if I pulled on it too hard 😀

Our stay at this hotel was one of the worst experiences we had in England. We arrived at night, and the check-in process was frustrating. The receptionist couldn’t find our reservation for 30 minutes because it was listed under our last name. He then realized the room had been given to another guest. The receptionist tried to move us to a downgraded room with no view, despite us paying for a room with a view. After complaining, we were finally upgraded to a better room, but the whole process was exhausting. We were only in Liverpool for one night and half the next day, so it really counted that we missed our chance to visit the Cavern Club. By the time we got to our room, it was 11:30 PM, and the club closed at midnight. The poor service continued at checkout. We thought checkout was at 12 PM, as listed on Expedia, but we were never told otherwise. The hotel also didn’t provide any information about checkout times or policies, and the staff was rude when we asked. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. The lack of communication and poor customer service ruined our plans and made the stay stressful. I would not recommend this hotel.

Been with friends now a couple of times. Great value for money. Especially in the heart of Liverpool, a stone throw away from the station. Staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much bother for them. Would definitely recommend here. Thank you so much again for the hospitality x

Really disappointed that when we got there they didn't have our booking. Luckly the receptionist got on the phone and sorted it out and were able to sort us a room. Not sure what would have happened if there were no available rooms.

Room was freezing cold. Had to put the heat on all night. Was extremely noisy. Could hear loud music & people outside until about 5am.

The bars in this neighbourhood play music extremely loud. Luckily i was down the end of hall and the noise was bearable. However as you got closer to reception the music was unbearably loud. Room needs a table and chair.
