The Inn South Stainley

There was plenty of parking. You have to record your registration number at reception to avoid a charge. We received a friendly welcome and were shown to room 4. The room was quite large and was well appointed, however, despite the radiator being on, the room was very cold and unwelcoming. When we returned after our meal in the bar, the room was still very cold and remained so throughout our stay. The bathroom was also very chilly. I mentioned this when we checked out. The receptionist said that the boiler must be on the blink again, but did not offer of an apology. The evening meal and service were good, but the whole pub was not very warm. Fortunately we sat in front of the log burner.

Stayed here this weekend … WOW. Accommodations: Outstanding. Modern, spacious with your own little patio area. Super dog friendly. Very secure (they even have gun cabinets in each room)! Excellent touches such as a very informative guest guide, luxury toiletries and a fabulous beverage station. Restaurant/ Bar: describing this as a gastro pub does not do this just. Warm and inviting with high end furnishings. Drink options are plentiful (including a great deal of non alcoholic options). Food is superb (both evening and breakfast … couldn’t fault it). Outside is fabulous and well designed with tent shelters, log burners etc. Parking: plentiful and FREE! Staff: Go above and beyond to help you (our daughter was unfortunately poorly and they couldn’t do enough … bottled water, toast offers of help). Cannot recommend this place enough … totally fabulous!

Made really welcome on arrival, we were shown to the room, where our two dogs were well catered for. A dog bed each and a bowl of water. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We had Sunday lunch, which was fab, generous portions and really tasty. The breakfasts were also good. Given it was included, I had low expectations. But I was wrong. All freshly prepared and a good selection of cooked and non cooked options.

Great overnighter comfortable bedroom and bathroom with good toiletries and extra towels. Had drinks and a good dinner downstairs in pub restaurant. Staff attentive. Was on a road but no noise inside

Very nice one night stay at The Inn. Checked in the car in the bar area, then got our key and was shown to our room. Free wifi. The room and bathroom was spacious and well decorated. Double doors to small veranda with a table and two chairs over looking the surrounding grassed area that is tree lined. Peaceful and very pleasant. We had an evening meal and dessert. The menu had great choices. What we had for breakfast was delicious. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly.

A great hotel and extremely dog friendly. Rooms, and bed, are large and comfy and we had our own enclosed, outside terrace with seating so our dog could wander in and out the room without worry of escaping (would be good for people with younger children as well) and a gate so it was easy to take our dog out without going through the hotel itself. The pub restaurant is lovely and food is delicious (both evening meals and breakfast). Staff are friendly - especially the breakfast staff who spoilt our dog with sausages. Great location to explore Yorkshire. Very reasonably priced. Thank you for having us.

A lovely pub with fab rooms. Stayed in one of the lodge rooms which were gorgeous! All mod cons, clean, well-presented and a great bonus of a balcony. Had our evening meal in the pub which was delicious! Highly recommend the bbq platter.

The lodge was excellent, spacious, fabulous comfortable bed and a lovely walk in shower. The staff were friendly and professional, Colin gave us a laugh during our excellent breakfast which was one of the tastiest we've had. The extras(toiletries, slippers and umbrella etc) were a nice touch. We would certainly recommend anyone staying here and will be back in the future.

It was lovely and clean and quiet with everything we needed and like that it is pet friendly as well as food was great and service, easy parking and all the little bits in the room were very convenient, very lovely and friendly staff

Stayed 2 nights in, changing rooms per night. Spotlessly clean, bith rooms, beds are so comfy, food is good, staffcaee very attentive but not overpowering

We stayed at the Inn South Stainley for 2 nights in July on a brief sightseeing trip to the area with friends. We chose the Inn because of its proximity to the places we wanted to visit and the very good impression that was given on its website. We were very pleased with the whole package. The Inn is a very well appointed hotel/restaurant with comfortable, well decorated and dressed rooms. Our standard double could have been a bit bigger to be honest but it was beautifully clean and well appointed. We had a very good evening meal in the restaurant - no complaints at all. The breakfast choices were pretty good too. The staff were lovely - friendly and very helpful. We also thought the gardens were gorgeous - a bonus to be able to sit outside on a nice evening. We would definitely consider staying here again if we're in the area. Thank you all so much.

Good location. Good restaurant. Cleaning of property needs improvement. No shower gel provided. Only one soap for hand wash as well as baths

Wow what a find, the place is really nice to stay at our room was lovely with loads of space and a nice on suite. The room and the pub/ hotel is very clean and spacious. The staff are absolutely lovely nice people to talk to who are very helpful and attentive and the food well the food is excellent nicely presented and very tasty. We will have no hesitation in booking here again for another stay it’s very quiet at night even though it’s on a main trunk route and has a big car park so no problems parking. There seemed to be a fair few people in the place on an evening to eat even though we were there on a Monday and Tuesday so it shows that the place is well regarded for its food. All in all a really great place to stay or have a meal.

Excellent staff very friendly and helpful. Food on the expensive side. Main failing was servicing of the room.. shower not cleaned etc. also we had a room in the main building which is close to a main road no double glazing noisy at night.

we had a lovely relaxing break for my birthday, the food was lovely, accomodation very good and the hotel was beautifully decorated. All the staff were very helpful, the only issue we had was the cleaner left our room door unlocked one of the days which was a little concerning

Lovely looking room, with a great shower. Visitors should be aware that 10 of the rooms are in a separate building, which we were in. The room only had a radiator, and no aircon, which meant when the heating was pumping out it was boiling. There was a fan in the room but took forever to cool down. When we turned the radiator down it was then freezing in the morning. The mattress was too firm for us and the pillows are terrible. One pillow is not enough, two is too much and both far too firm! There is also no fridge, which is silly when the room is big enough and you’re away from the main building. There is also no shelf/stand to put your luggage on. Again, there is plenty of room to add this. Breakfast was disappointing, with only standard tea and coffee included in the price. We waited over 30mins for our food to be served. I had the boiled eggs which were really nice, but my partner ordered poached eggs (these were nice), mushrooms and tomatoes. The mushrooms were burnt and crunchy and the tomatoes were still hard. We notified the waiter who took them back, but when the new plate was delivered, this time they were both under cooked. Overall, we would not stay again.

Stayed one night here at the Inn in room 1 at the back. Check in is 3pm. Lovely outside sitting area which was huge. We sat outside for a drink later in the evening. They have lodges outside which looked nice. Close to a very busy road. Good quality bedding and very good shower. It was very hot when we were here, a very good fan was supplied which cooled us down a bit. Duvets are always a pet hate for me, hotels usually use the same 10/15 tog all year round, a lighter duvet would have been better. We didn't have our evening meal here but what we saw looked good. Breakfast was one of the best we've had, top quality ingredients and friendly staff. Would stay again.

Stayed in April so this was the second time. We stayed in the outside accommodation last time which I prefer as they are very spacious. We had a king room the size was great but noise from the traffic. This can not be helped. Will return again as the good and the staff are so friendly. Next time will stay in the outside accommodation as I liked the outside area. This hotel is second to non absolute beautiful

Stayed for two nights. All the staff were wonderful. Excellent Sunday roast and breakfast buffet. Room was a little small but had everything we needed and was very clean. I’d recommend trips to nearby Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey and Ripon.

Just stay. You will not be disappointed. The staff are excellent and so friendly. It makes all the difference. Rooms are top class. Food was sublime. It’s very clear there is an excellent ethos to excel. We will be back for sure.

Owner had confusion over included breakfast although it clearly shows it on my booking receipt. He did honour it in the end, but i shouldn't have to 'discuss' it at check in like he is doing me a favour when i've already paid for it. Room was spacious. Parking ok. Bar & restaurant looked very nice although not used in the evening. Shame about the breakfast issue, spoiled what could have been a great experience

The shower was broken, no apology from the duty manager. Otherwise everything else was fine.

Our stay was perfect. The staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful.

The staff were extremely attentive and ensured our stay was as pleasant as possible. The room was spacious, well decorated, spotlessly clean and very quiet. The garden terrace was delightful and was a lovely place to sit in the morning before breakfast. Breakfast was very good with a large menu. We dined in the restaurant in the evening and again the food was very good. I would certainly recommend this hotel and would certainly return if we visited this area again.

A great base for exploring the surrounding area. We found the property to be everything we needed. The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and very approachable.

Location was good in between Knaresborough and Ripon . Quiet even though on main road . Double room was good, staff polite , friendly and professional . Parking free when staying at inn. Had evening meal and breakfast both good standard.

We have stayed here now many times , we enjoy the location close to Harrogate . Food is excellent, the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, all set in nice grounds .

Overnight stay was very enjoyable. Big, comfortable room, good food and pleasant helpful staff. Good location.

Last year we stayed at the Inn to break our journey from Hampshire to Northumberland, and it worked so well we’ve repeated the exercise. It’s a few miles off the A1(M), it worth the short detour. Our rooms have been in to main building, and both have been recently fitted out to a good standard. Breakfast. Is held in a room with good garden views and is excellent. We ate in the restaurant and bar on different evenings. The menu is identical for both segments. The menu is interesting and the food itself is really good. When next we venture to the North we would plan to return to the Inn.

Had a lovely room in the grounds with it's own balcony. Loved to see and hear nature on the doorstep. Didn't have Dinner but breakfast was excellent. Loved the fact we were central to visit quite a lot of historic towns.

Pub & room was lovely, no complaints. Food and drinks in pub were good. Bus stop directly outside to Harrogate, saved us driving in so that was a bonus.

Fantastic place to stay, was perfect for us when visiting Harrogate and North Yorkshire. Staff were excellent, super polite and helpful, showed us to our room and nothing was too much trouble during breakfast. Was nice to see staff take so much pride in their hospitality. Room was clean and stylish, extra points for a modern bathroom, with the balcony area being great for sitting out in the stars and chatting. Would happily go back here. Place was 10/10, and in a great location for transport too

We stayed for a 2 night getaway and we really enjoyed ourselves. Room was excellent, clean warm with everything needed. Had 2 evening meals which were very tasty and good size portions. But the real winner was the breakfast. My wife said it was the best cooked breakfast she had ever had and I agreed. All staff were kind and courteous. Had an amazing trip to fountains abbey it was such a wonderful place.

Great location for visiting Ripon, Harrogate and York. Friendly, helpful staff. Collin is very funny at breakfast! Comfy rooms and amazing food! Lovely to have game on the menu. Everything is freshly cooked.
