The construction around the hotel is inconvenient as well as the location of my room. The room numbers are confusing, and I had to take stairs to my room, which was not fun to do with all my luggage. Also, the front desk person would not really pay attention to the door as we had to be buzzed in there was a time that we waited for about 1520 minutes to get in

Note: Not all rooms are accessible via the elevator. Normally wouldn't affect me, but I have an untreated hernia. Checked the listings to ensure there was an elevator. My room was only accessible by stairs. Also, the rooms are VERY dark. Otherwise, property is very pretty and staff is excellent

Dette hotel er et byhotel, et lille hotel. Der er ikke mange faciliteter, da det er byen (Amsterdam) det handler om. God morgenmad i lille spiseområde. Der er selvbetjeningsbar og ikke meget lov om aftenen. Det er ok, men det skal man lige vide. Værelserne er små. Egner sig ikke til ophold. Til gengæld er der stille, pænt og rent. Så alt i alt et fint lille hotel.

Schönes modernes Hotel in sehr guter Lage zur Innenstadt. Zimmer klein aber schön, leider ohne Kühlschrank. Preis für Ansterdam in Ordnung. Nettes Personal.

After a long travel day from the states the shower felt great! The bed was comfortable, albeit in an upstairs loft, which we were not aware of when booking. So if stairs are an issue for you just know that’s a problem.

Nice property and good area near accessible things and sites but room itself had no iron and ironing board, no fridge, and no food other than breakfast.

Arrived late after a long day of travel. Friendly greeting on arrival. Hotel is a rabbit warren of hallways and rooms. Couldn’t find our room, back to front desk for assistance. Up steep wooden stairs with large cases. Room was small, dark, smelt weird and was rustic and VERY worn and tired. Safe in room was not attached to anything so not so safe!! Door to outside walkway fell off when opened. Carpet was old and very stained. Pros: bed clean and comfortable and bathroom clean and modern. Very central and easy to access city. Management offered to change rooms but as we were only in Amsterdam for 2 nights and 1 day we declined as we wanted to see the city not hang about the hotel getting things sorted. Hotel needs a facelift to earn 4 stars. Would not recommend to anyone.

Stayed three days, the room was never cleaned, although they promised several times they would do that. The WiFi is open, so basically useless if one is on a business trip and won't want to have the computer hacked or infested with God knows what. The 5G in the basement is impossible to get, too much metal around, so your WiFi (mobile) probably won't work there. The staff at the reception was friendly and attentive, but to no avail because the rest didn't follow and the room remained uncleaned. The beds (promised Queenbed, got two single beds moved close to one another) were not very good neither. I won't be staying at this hotel again, specially considering there is Marriot nearby.

Decent hotel, Room was really small and lacked a little in the comfort area. Hair in the bathroom and speaker was covered in some sticky material.

The hotel is pleasant, clean, comfortable. We found the staff to be friendly. They left my kid a nice note, with a bar of chocolate, on their birthday, which happened to be during our stay. The hotel is in a good location. Unfortunately, I got several bed bug bites during my stay, and that experience has colored my impression of the hotel. This can happen in any hotel, particularly mid-tier/budget hotels like this one. Management assured us that they would shut down the room and manage the issue.

We booked this hotel for 7 nights based on their reviews, 4/5 rating, spent a lot per night only to find BED BUGS in our hotel bed and our blood smeared on the sheets. We took videos of the bugs, photos of the blood and went to show the receptionist and her eyes nearly popped out of her head. When she went to get the manager, he was "in the back," she came back solo saying he was busy. I'm sorry, there is nothing more important than BED BUGS in a hotel. We were in town for the Taylor Swift show so she told us all hotels were booked so she couldnt move us, the only option was downgrade our room to a double bed in the hotel, we booked a suite so we had more space for our luggage. We set up a meeting with the manager, named Phillip but he told Expedia his name was Alexander, for the next morning at 9am, we slept absolutely horribly, itching all over, and worrying we would have bugs in the new room as well. So by 9am we were so upset. When I met the manager, he was not phased by the bed bugs at all, he said its NORMAL and happens all the time and all they could do for us was comp us ONE night. So after some research, bed bugs are NOT NORMAL and the protocol is to high heat dry and wash all of your clothes and throw away luggage. Not only that, the hotel has a history of bed bugs over the last 2 years and the reviews show the hotel completely refunded the guests for the HUGE inconvenience. This hotel absolutely DOES NOT CARE if your room has BED BUGS.

Used to be fresh. Payed €300/ night for a mini double room. Unfortunately, carpets everywhere were stained and worn. They have let it slide, and I will choose another hotel next time.

Jag har bott två gånger på detta hotell och det är fräscha rum och grymt bra läge. Men nu fick jag ett rum på nedre våningen -1 rum 117, här känns det som man bor i en bunker och dålig mobil täckning. Jag kommer skriva till hotellet nästa gång att jag inte vill bo på nedre plan

You might be looking at this hotel and thinking, "Seems like a modern, hip hotel in a convenient area of Amsterdam for a good price -- I should book it!" Did you know, however, that in a city which famously resides below sea level, it's possible for hotel rooms to be in the basement? Neither did I. For four nights, I descended to level "Minus 1" and passed cleaning supplies and bags of sheets from other, presumably above ground, rooms in the hotel, all of which was stored in the hallway. My room's only window looked out onto a courtyard shared with the lobby, so employees and guests could conveniently peer into my subterranean dwelling. In the hallway, the cleaning staff often looked startled to see me, as if I'd wandered into a part of the building where I wasn't supposed to be. "No!" I wanted to say to them. "You don't understand! I was assigned to live down here, despite paying the same price as guests staying on the upper floors." I didn't, but I do know that I won't be back.

Property was great, I was in a ground floor room which had very little natural light. The artifical lighting also wasnt greqt so the room was very dark all the time.

Perfect location but rooms extremely small, other than that perfect stay!

This property was just ok. We politely requested a quiet room, and got put in the noisiest room, on the front of the property, right by the road, and above the main entrance. The pillows are rock hard, the shower drain was blocked and would flood the bathroom, and little things were broken, like the wall hooks. The bed however is very large, coffee is provided, and the room is a nice design. Overall the stay was okay, but not worth the price. The location is however very convenient.

Expect great design, Nespresso machine in the room and mostly friendly staff. Most of all, a perfect central location minutes away from designer stores and the museum square. However, these are the only positive aspects. The rooms are very small and dark as there is only indirect lighting. The mattress, pillow and sheets were extremely low-quality and uncomfortable. There was NO WIFI during our entire stay. A members of staff told us to come down and use reception WiFi. Nevertheless, after no longer than 10 minutes another staff member told us that they could not allow us any longer in the reception for “safety issues”. The cleaning is below average and the room clearly needs manteinance work (e.g. missing light switch and outlet plug).

The staff was amazing and helped us with everything we needed. We were a little jet lagged but they safely stored our luggage. Also the staff was helpful about buses, restaurants, etc.

On the plus side: 1) The cleaning crew were very nice. 2) The room was larger than expected. 3) The shower was excellent. On the negative: 1) Gaslighting -- I was told at 5 am that I had not ordered an airport taxi for that day. When the night clerk let it slip that my room number had ordered a cab, he had to admit he had given it to another client. 2) Poor Service and Limited Equipment -- It took an hour for the front desk to tell me there were no irons available. 3) Unprofessionalism -- The front desk staff are insufferable and uninterested in doing their basic jobs. In addition, they bad mouthed other clientele within my hearing.

Management was extremely disrespectful. We checked in having three people not knowing only two was allowed because the booking site just said there would be an extra fee for another person. We brought the third person into our room to figure out where he would stay and they told us that he had to leave in 15 minutes. When he left they said he must bring down his luggage to hold. We told them that we were sharing luggage since we were just in France for 2 weeks. The manager told us no and we had to have at least one luggage downstairs. I talked to Expedia to see if the could put us somewhere else but it was to late for a refund and the insurance policy didn’t cover the situation so please be aware of the insurance you buy with them. After I talked to Expedia the situation escalated. I asked if we weren’t allowed to have visitors and they said we could from 8am-5pm, but our friend was kicked out at 3pm with no choice to leave or not. They said if he was there not within visiting hours we would have a $340 fee and be kicked out instantly. When we got back at night on the first night we got locked out of our room and when we asked the guy receptionist he said it doesn’t happen often. The second morning we had someone come into our room while we were sleeping at 7am where we could only assume he was checking for a third person. We are extremely disappointed with the service and felt very uncomfortable the whole stay. We are people of color and young and felt very targeted.

The first night the AC in our room died. The staff were excellent in responding. When it could not be fixed immediately they moved us to a bigger room and gave us 2 complimentary drinks. We would definitely stay here again.

Located on the perimeter of the city and walkable (~30 miniutes) to the Amsterdam Central station. 2 min walk from the nearest tram station. Rooms are well-designed, furniture is slightly under-equipped (narrow desk and chair cannot comfortably fit in the space between the desk and the bed) but has the basic things you need. Kettle lid was broken and some visible wear and tear in the room, but was very clean.

The Hotel van de Vijsel is a great option near Vondelpark. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The hotel is clean and quiet, it's also in a great area that's walkable to the museum district, Vondelpark, and the west side of the city. Overall a great experience.

Perfect for a long weekend stay in Amsterdam. Walkable to the main attractions in town and accessible to the main train station

Zur Zeit ist im Nachbarhotel eine Baustelle. Die Geräusche sind sehr stark in den Zimmern wahrzunehmen. Auch die zentrale Lüftungsanlage war direkt neben unserem Zimmer. Und wenn sie ansprang, auch in der Nacht, war es recht laut. Leider hatten wir zwischendurch einen Feueralarm (war dann ein Fehlalarm) und wir konnten das Gebäude nicht durch die Ein/Ausgangstür verlassen. Sie waren abgeschlossen ! Das Personal war nicht an der Rezeption sondern war überall um die Leute aus den Zimmern zu holen somit war niemand da der die Türen öffnen konnte. In einem wirklichen Brand eine Katastrophe !!!

Really enjoyed our three night stay at Hotel van de Vijsel. It's very convenient located close to the Vondrelpark, the Museumplein and the Leidseplein. The hotel is quiet with an excellent air conditioning system and comfortable bed. It was our wedding anniversary, so I ordered there special package of bubbly, chocolates, balloons and petals. My wife loved the surprise and the bubbly was a gorgeous Spanish Cava and the chocs were delicious. Well done Hotel van de Vijsel!

アムステルダム中心部のライツェ広場から少し離れた静かな場所にあるが、国立美術館まで徒歩５分と観光には抜群の便利な場所にあり、トラムの停留所も近くアムステルダム中央駅から地方都市へ行く場合の駅への往復も便利。 ホテルでの食事は朝食のみだが隣にはスーパーがあり周囲にカフェやレストランも多く不便を感じない。

Great Hotel just adjacent to Leidseplein. Room ok size, very comfortable bed , excellent powerful shower, view was of another hotel breakfast room. Bit of noise bleed from other rooms, doors closing etc…. But not dreadful. Really nicely decorated and very clear Front of house staff very helpful. Breakfast basic, not worth the money and the honesty bar/fridge was locked up a bit early for a late evening night cap. Over all good stay and I’d stay again.

Room was a good size but bathroom had a musty smell. USB charging ports didn't work. No vending machines. Breakfast was minimal and expensive. Staff was pleasant but seemingly unable to provide solutions for issues. Very close to Leidesplein.

Great hotel, especially for the price. Staff is very friendly, bed is extremely comfortable for a hotel, and clean. Highly recommend the breakfast which was convenient and delicious.

The room was clean and quiet, the beds were exceptionally comfortable and the bathroom was great - especially the fabulous shower! We really enjoyed the breakfast - plenty to choose from - pastries, hot food, cereals, fruit, yoghurts etc and unlimited coffee - always important! We found the staff to be really helpful, cheerful and polite. For a few days in Amsterdam, this was a great hotel and really central to everything we wanted.

Fantastic property to stay in. Right on the direct tram back into the centre of Amsterdam. The only small criticism is the face there isn’t a lot of storage or hanging space for clothes. Staff were incredibly friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Would definitely recommend.

This fairly new (according to the taxi driver) hotel has succumbed to the modern annoying trend towards all encompassing darkness. Dark decor, dark lighting, dark curtains. And rather dirty windows (on the outside) didn't help. Rooms are clean and well-equipped. Not a lot of space, but just enough. Little hanging space and nowhere to put folded clothes. Pod-type coffee machine, bottle of water. Bathroom good and excellent shower, though again, nowhere to put your toiletries. Staff are pleasant, though the taxis they arranged for us were not "proper" taxis with a sign and a meter, and worked out dearer than metered taxis for the same route. Breakfast (extra) was brilliant with wide choice including pancakes (yum) and various egg dishes. Bread was particularly good, crisp, fresh and fragrant. Position was good for museum quarter and not far from main shopping streets. Lots of street noise in front facing room. Overall okay but not outstanding.

Breakfast is overpriced for little variety. Its not free- cost 20 Euros.
