Melrose Hotel

The location of this hotel is great for travelers that want to be in the picturesque Jordaan area with the canals. The staff were very friendly and the room was modern and clean. I appreciate that they have a coffee machine free of charge for guests.

Opción muy bien ubicada en pleno centro, cuenta con todo lo básico. Pero realmente es un lugar que carece de hospitalidad, servicio del personal en atención al cliente es muy frío. Las habitación son cómodas pero como dicen otros comentarios los vidrios de la ducha son casi transparentes por lo que si viajan varios en una sola habitación eso será incómodo. El hotel no cuenta con desayuno lo cual hubiera sido de gran comodidad pero al menos hay un supermercado enfrente.

Ordentliches Hotel in guter Lage, sauber, aber nichts Besonderes. Wer nur eine Unterkunft sucht, aber keinen Schnickschnack braucht, ist hier gut aufgehoben, dafür isr der Preis im Vergleich eben niedriger. Ein richtiges Hotelflair kommt nicht auf, es gibt bspw. kein Frühstück. Zusammenfassen: Man kommt zum Schlafen und Duschen, das ist alles ok, aber man muss in den Räumen nicht zwingend verweilen.

Conveniently located on a busy street, good base to explore Amsterdam. It was recommended by a friend who lives nearby. Amenities are passable, not great. Comfy bed, attentive staff, safe, although the police showed up after drunken guests destroyed a room. The room layout was bizarre, a tiny sink in the bedroom not the bathroom. Has an elevator. My frank opinion is that it’s overpriced for the amenities. No food service, no freezer available to store medications for example, grocery store nearby, lots of restaurants within walking distance. Neighborhood is ok, not beautiful, overall just meh. We would not stay there again. But the staff were very kind and helpful. Parking is 10 minutes walking distance away at a cost of $50 per day.

Nice location, friendly people and proper hotel, the only thing that’s missing is breakfast.

My daughter got stuck in the elevator and the staff acted very non chalant about it!

Muhammad is very helpful. Elevator is not working for 3 days. So if you staying in 2nd floor good luck bringing your luggage up and down. Room is small but clean. Quite, and walkable in many places.

Excellent hotel on a terrific central location. As with most hotels in central Amsterdam the room and bathrooms are small but it does have an elevator. The lobby is clean and modern and has free coffee early and late in the day. Hotel staff was very helpful in booking tickets and taxis.

A perfect location and practical size rooms with all you need. The hotel is within the inner canal area at the edge of the popular Jordaan area. Excellent boutique shopping and e.g Anne Frank house are really close. The rooms could use a little love with regard to lamp attachments, wallpaper, safe and overall decor, but it was a good value for the price. Staff was great and cooperative with quick service.

Wir waren mit allem zufrieden, das Zimmer war zwar klein aber fein. Das Personal sehr freundlich. Es war alles zu Fuß erreichbar. Parkmöglichkeiten gibt es 5min Fußweg entfernt, in einem Parkhaus. Das Parkhaus ist zwar sehr teuer (zwei Tage 100€) aber sicher. Am besten schon vorher reservieren.

The room had mold in the bathroom all along the walls. Smelled of mildew and I am almost certain the floors are not cleaned. The only upside was the location.

Hotel is clean and quiet. Our room was small but we did not spend much time there so not a problem. Front desk staff were very helpful. Conveniently located near stores and restaurants. Great coffee machine in the lobby, be aware coffee is free only at certain times.

Stay away! This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It barely qualifies as a hotel — more like the lowest-quality motel imaginable. The rooms were shockingly dirty, and the bathrooms looked like they hadn’t seen a proper cleaning product in ages. The towels were grey, the rooms smelled like mold, and even the toilets were filthy. The pillows were so bad that I couldn’t sleep at all. I also noticed something in the upper corner of the room that looked like a camera — I couldn’t tell for sure, but it was unsettling. On top of that, the entire property, including housekeeping, appeared to be run only by men, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. Save your money and stay anywhere else.

So clean and extremely quiet area.

Although it was a great location, upon arrival the customer service was very much lacking from the younger gentleman, there were two stains on the bed sheets, lumpy bed, walls were a bit thin, “city view” is a view of the alley way so don’t expect some nice view of the main street that the hotel is on and the lobby smelled like sewer.

Great hotel for a long weekend. Really clean rooms. Central location. Friendly staff. Great value.

The hotel was really nice. The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. We did however find that the hotel room had insufficient ventilation. When we checked in to the room everything had a slightly damp feel to it, including the mattress. After staying for 3 nights we found all clothes in the room to be damp and a book which we had brought with us had started to warp. We left a key card in the room to try and leave the air con on since windows can't be opened, to try to allow some of the damp to leave the room, only to find when we got back that the key had been taken by the cleaners. If it wasn't for this one issue it would have been a 5/5, but really can't recommend under this circumstance.

The staff at the hotel were great. The rooms are very small as expected. Unfortunately, there was garbage from previous guests under the bed. Our room was on the ground level, near the door and very noisy from exiting guests and movement from above.

Das Hotel ist sehr hellhörig, man hört die Wasserleitungen, Geräusche von draußen oder auch von seinen Zimmernachbarn. Zimmer war sauber aber nicht die beste Experience.

Good central location walking distance to many attractions. Exterior of hotel should be maintained more regularly as there was a pile of garbage in front when we arrived. Bathroom did not offer much in terms of privacy with frosted glass walls that could be seen through - this could be an issue for some. Room was clean and hotel staff helpful and friendly. Great option to check bags before checking in and once checked out.

Very nice staff, we got a room one floor below ground level where it seemed all water pipes ran next to, that was annoying. Very thin walls to the other rooms. The rooms have only a glass wall to the toilet so you better be comfortable making noises Infront of the one you’re traveling with, because it’s not much privacy.

Great Hotel - we would definitely return. Loved the area, the Jordaan area with so much going on right outside. From tasty Thai restaurants, a great supermarket, bakeries, bars - it’s the perfect spot to stay. We literally walked all over Amsterdam from the hotel, never needing a tram or taxi. You can walk from central station in 15/20minutes. Anne Franks House is just a 10 minute stroll - it’s a great position. Our room it self was fine. Beds comfy, pillows comfy (did ask for extra) towels etc changed daily. Facilities all good - my only small gripe was the fact we couldn’t open a window for fresh air. Yes there’s air con which was a god send on the hot days. But at night I don’t like sleeping with that on. Also there’s no extractor in the bathroom, so it definitely gets stuffy. The colour changing lights in the bathroom was a funky little extra. Staff were always welcoming. We didn’t book any excursions or transport from reception, but it’s all available & easy to do should you wish to. Overall, a great little hotel, very well priced & as mentioned, we would definitely book again should we return to Amsterdam.

No ventilation. No windows. Room in the bowels of the building. Not safe. Took my hotel tax money even though I refused to stay. Would not put us in another room. Did not refund room or tax charges. Took my family elsewhere. Better off sleeping on the street.

Hotel Melrose is in a great location to look around as a tourist. It’s right in the middle of the Jordaan area and in the canals. Super close to viral food spots like Maijard Smashburger, Chun, Polaberry and a short walk into the centre and different areas. Hotel itself is good, really friendly staff. It needs to be clarified by Expedia that there is tourist tax to pay and it is not included in the price you are paying. Also there are no windows in the rooms. Only a ventilation system so the rooms are quite stuffy and you can’t get any fresh air. As a person who doesn’t like AC, this was a bit annoying. But other than that, the stay was good.

La habitacion triple que nos dieron estaba en el sótano, una habitación sin ventana y demasiado pequeña para tres personas. Después nos cambiaron a una habitación en el primer piso después de pagar un simplemente y la habitación ya era más grande y más cómoda para tres personas

Too small… NO drawers for clothes…seven hangers , no where to store clothes.. The bathroom was awful the sink was a part of the desk. Everything was an inconvenience.. But the beds were wonderful and the staff was fantastic

Room was clean. All the staff were very very helpful.1 The hotel was a good location. Shower was a bit awkward without a shower curtain the sprayed all over the room soaking the mat and towels and anything else you had in the cubicle with you.

Tudo foi muito bom o no Melrose. O atendente da portaria "My Friend" era um querido. Unico problema foi terem oferecido um táxi com valor pré-fixado, que cobrou a mais na hora final no aeroporto.

The only real good thing about this hotel is the location to be honest. I've stayed here twice now because of last minute trips to amsterdam, I didn't particularly like my stay the first time but I thought I'd give it another shot as last time I got a room with 0 windows. This time My room had a tiny skylight and a window into the corridor with other guests walking past with a curtain I had to keep shut for privacy. The room smelled a bit like drains and someone even walked into my room in the middle of the afternoon when I was napping. Quite weird and unsettling. I dont think it was housekeeping it looked like another guest. I always think an average hotel is fine for one night if you feel safe but that didnt make me feel safe at all and made the averagness of it all feel not worth saving some money on.

I booked this hotel for a 3 night stay for a trip to Amsterdam. Upon arriving to the hotel the lobby smelled strongly of smoke. I checked in and was assigned a room in the basement. After stepping off the elevator in the basement I was greeted by an horrible smell along with a wall that was held together by tape. The room itself was in terrible shape and covered in mold. I went to the front desk and asked to be moved to another room out of the basement and was told there were no rooms available on higher floors. I didn’t feel safe or sanitary sleeping there for 3 nights so I ended up booking another hotel. When checking out, a few short hours after checking in, the man at the front desk seemed shocked. He asked why we were leaving and why we didn’t try to change rooms or figure something out with them. We explained to him that we had asked to move rooms and were denied. We asked for a refund and were told to come back the next day when the manager would be in. We went back to attempt to get a refund during the time we were told the manager would be in. The man at the front desk told us the manager was in but asked what the situation was. He then said the manager was not in and that the only way to reach him would be through the hotels email. He continued to tell us that there was no way that they could issue a refund. The rooms look nothing like the photos advertised online. This hotel is an overpriced, dirty, unsanitary SCAM and I would not recommend staying here.

The hotel’s location is great, with cafés and restaurants nearby. The rooms look just like in the pictures; however, the door sometimes moves and makes noise due to air pressure. I would like to thank Muhammed and Shafi at the reception for their special attention, kindness, and sincerity.

The Melrose Hotel is in an amazing location! We found it easy to get to and from everywhere we wanted to see while in Amsterdam. The staff were friendly and helpful. Very basic hotel with minimal amenities but very good for the price.

The room was small but the bed and bedding was very comfortable. The location is excellent and as the rooms are in the back there was very little noise so easy to sleep. At first the room was very warm then I realized we should set it on air conditioning even though it was November. The room cooled to a comfortable temperature. Very good value.

Great spot. 15 minute walk to the city center. Tons of food and shopping near by. 20 minutes to museums, 11 minutes to Anne Frank house. Staff was fantastic

The location was absolutely incredible. In the heart of Jordaan and surrounded by loads of brilliant restaurants, cafes and bars. The staff could not have been friendlier and more helpful. All of them were amazing. The room was really comfortable and with great air con. This was my first trip to Amsterdam and this hotel was the perfect place to stay, especially as a solo traveller

The front desk staff were really friendly and accommodating. Our room was the quietest room I’ve ever stayed in. It’s equidistant to the Anne Frank house, museums and train station. Felt very safe in the neighborhood.

The hotel is in very nice location close to everything 10-25 minutes walk very nice neighborhood. A few cafes steps away from hotel , little boutiques and shops on the same street. Albert Heijn Supermarket conveniently across the street. A couple a minute walk to tram stations. I would recommend the hotel for a few night stay although the rooms are very small and no refrigerator and the windows were not opening to get some fresh air. Upon arrival the room smelled funky. The Melrose Hotel is amazing! 10/10! 5 stars! This hotel is really nice and clean. As well, it is on the best street in a great neighborhood near the canals. The neighbourhood is quiet and pretty. The hotel is on Elandsgracht, which is an amazing street. There are coffee places, restaurants, ice-cream, shops, supermarkets, pharmacy etc. all in the same street. The tram stop is just a few minutes walk. A beautiful canal is two blocks away. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the Leidseplein, which is full of bars and restaurants. As well, there were two small bars nearby on Elandsgracht street. The nine little streets shopping area is just a few minutes away, with lots of cute shops. And we even walked home from the train station one night although it is a long walk. It’s a very safe neighborhood too, where lots of residents live, not so touristy. Totally awesome!

Local é ótimo Bem localizado, fácil acesso a praticamente todas as atrações. Voltaria sem dúvidas novamente. Pra ser completo um serviço de café da manhã seria ótimo.. fica a dica.

Staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms are clean. Just note the bathrooms are frosted glass so if you are just friends sharing it can be a little awkward when using the bathroom. We just made sure we did not look while the other was in there. There are tons of great restaurants around the hotel and it is a very safe and walkable area.

This was our first visit to Amsterdam and the location was perfect - quiet neighborhood a short walk to the lively areas - restaurants, museums, nightlife. Even though no restaurant, there were plenty next door for breakfast and lunch. I would stay there again.
