Old Hall Hotel Hope

The staff were polite and friendly. The food was lovely, they were the only positives. The stairway to the rooms had a fusty/musty smell and in need of decorating, paint rubbed off the woodwork. The carpet could do with a good clean at least or replacing. The room was tiny with patches of wallpaper missing and cramped. There was constant loud music coming up through the ceiling even though the bar area was quiet. I could hear it while wearing headphones listening to podcasts on my phone at full volume. The staff advised when I complained that it was the kitchen staff playing music directly below and did get them to stop. Definitely not worth the price charged.

A fantastic place to stay for a few nights. A great base to explore the Peak District with a good bus link to the area. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Food was much better than expected for pub food. Breakfast included was a perfect size and all local produce. We stayed for one night, got the bus into Castleton and back to see a concert in Devils Arse. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay and would thoroughly recommend

Great stay, the room was well presented, warm and cosy. The staff, friendly. The meals in the pub, excellent. Breakfast in the tea room was also 1st class. On our second night, we went to the pubs sister pub, The Anchor, and listened to the folk club. Absolutely brilliant. We will be back.

We stayed for 2 nights in a family room, our room was small for 4 people but had everything we needed. The sofa bed wasnt the best, however we asked for a 2nd duvet to put ontop of the mattress and they were bmvery obliging and helpful. The staff are very courteous and nothing was too much trouble. The room was spotlessly clean. The kids loved the sweets left for them. The filter coffee in the room was a really nice touch. We ate in the restaurant the 1st evening and the food was very nice and service good. The breakfast was really nice and is cooked to order. Again service was fabulous. The 2nd evening we went to the curry cabin for a meal and we had a lovely meal. Food and service again was great. Was nice to see everywhere so busy.
