Loved the location. Inside, a large lounge area with lots of comfortable seats was a welcoming area to relax in, and outside the generously sized terrace with seats, tables and parasols allowed you to enjoy the sunshine and while away the time in a most pleasant fashion after a exploring Hay Tor and the beautiful countryside on your doorstep.

The garden was spectacular. Really relaxing to walk around. The staff were attentive and helpful. The room was clean and the TV had Youtube and Amazon Prime which was great. The room tea and coffee selection is good and parking is not a problem. Will be back if l drive through the area.

My wife and I have just stayed at The Moorland Hotel for 4 nights, 3 of which we had an evening meal. Beautiful location in Dartmoor with plenty of walks nearby. From start to finish all the staff were brilliant, helpful, friendly etc... special mention to Carly, and all the restaurant, breakfast and bar restaurant staff we came across but cannot remember their names. The bedroom was very comfortable with a very clean and good shower ensuite / high level toiletries. There was a fridge in the room. Bottles of water and replacement coffee pods provided in our room each day. Our room 208 looked over the back garden and had very good views. The room was quiet. All the meals in the various restaurants / bar area for breakfast were excellent - high quality good proportions. Extensive and varied menus to choose from. There is a large longe area between the formal restaurant and the bar / eating area. Nice furnishings and clean throughout. Highly recommend.

Fantastic one night stay at The Moorland Hotel. Wonderful location, grounds around the hotel are beautiful. Parking was easy and free which I love. All staff were welcoming, friendly and just lovely. Our room was perfect, lovely comfortable bed, good shower, good quality toiletries, tea/coffee options, views, loved the Dyson hairdryer. We had dinner and breakfast in the conservatory restaurant which is beautifully decorated with comfortable seating, great views and importantly tasty food. Such fantastic value for money here, can't wait to come back!

We had a really lovely stay. Clean room with a new bathroom. Nespresso machine and some pods provided which was a nice touch. Great breakfast. Beautiful views, large patio area with lots of seating. Very nice staff. Right on the edge of the moor so easy to get to but with good access to go exploring. We'll definitely come back!

Very beautiful hotel in stunning surroundings. Very comfortable bed and the room was very well equipped. Lovely touches of the radio and Nespresso. Breakfast was very nice and the staff at breakfast were fantastic . Throughly enjoyed my stay and highly recommend the hotel.

Really lovely hotel and had a great stay as located brilliant for friends in Bovey Tracy. Only two small disappointing things from the stay. When there is an event on (party in my case) the car park gets full as parking isn’t marked out so cars park with large spaces between them. I struggled when I arrived back at 9pm. The second issue was the heating I couldn’t switch it off in my room and it was like a sauna even with the window open. I noticed quite a few windows were open in rooms so wasn’t just the one I was in. In the winter I’d imagine it’s heaven but in mid-March it’s just too hot and stopped me sleeping. Having said that the hotel is great, and wouldn’t completely put me off staying again it’s just a couple of things which were disappointing

Stayed with an elderly family member. Rooms were nice with some lovely touches (Dyson hairdryer, pillow spray, nice radio) but very small and quite noisy - could easily hear footsteps and voices above. The handheld showers in both rooms were leaking; and things like trying to locate radiator valve to put heat on caused unnecessary stress. Breakfast was excellent and the communal lounge area was very pleasant. I didn’t stay with dogs but based on the dog amenities I have recommended to friends.

This is my personal view of this hotel. Location and property are very nice. You may have a different requirement for a mattress but they are hard, I dont like hard mattresses so sleep wasn't great, which spoils a hotel for me. Also avoid room 116, there seems to be some sort f water heater or something similar next to or above this room. Makes a lot of noise during the night. Probably applies to adjoining rooms as when you go outside the room door its even louder. Woke us both up

It was the first time for us to stay at The Moorland Hotel, but it won’t be our last. Excellent stay throughout. Staff were professional, friendly, welcoming and helpful. Lovely comfortable bed, great shower and very clean indeed. Food was excellent too. Can’t fault it.

I stayed one night for work and found the hotel online by chance. I arrived late, after 11pm, and had a warm wrlcome. Nothing was too much trouble and I appreciated the late bar. The finish is excellent as the hotel has recently been refurbished. My room was a single but very attractively furnished with a lovely view over delightful grounds and pristine en suite. Highly recommended.

Beautifully presented- wonderful location. Unfortunately the service and customer service was disappointing. Good check in - friendly staff. Items not available on the breakfast menu, couldn’t give me the cocktail I ordered from the menu as they hadn’t all the ingredients. The waiting time in the evening for dinner was irritating- we heard several other customers complaining. My husband’s meal wasn’t hot enough. Unfortunately I left an item in our room- no one got back to me for two days after numerous calls, messages left and resorting to email. Once contact was made eventually- Sharma was super and sorted the return of my item. Overall, these glitches were just irritating but didn’t stop us enjoying our stay. Would definitely return. Could have been 5* all around otherwise.

Wonderful room beautiful views, staff are friendly and helpful. Yummy breakfast choices. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to explore Dartmoor, turn left out of the entrance and you are on the moor.

The location is the main thing - on the moor itself, surrounded by wonderful scenery. Otherwise, the rooms, amenities, food and staff were first class. Would certainly return to it.

My wife and I have just stayed at The Moorland Hotel for 4 nights, 3 of which we had an evening meal. Beautiful location in Dartmoor with plenty of walks nearby. From start to finish all the staff were brilliant, helpful, friendly etc... special mention to Carly, and all the restaurant, breakfast and bar restaurant staff we came across but cannot remember their names. The bedroom was very comfortable with a very clean and good shower ensuite / high level toiletries. There was a fridge in the room. Bottles of water and replacement coffee pods provided in our room each day. Our room 208 looked over the back garden and had very good views. The room was quiet. All the meals in the various restaurants / bar area for breakfast were excellent - high quality good proportions. Extensive and varied menus to choose from. There is a large longe area between the formal restaurant and the bar / eating area. Nice furnishings and clean throughout. Highly recommend.

Fantastic one night stay at The Moorland Hotel. Wonderful location, grounds around the hotel are beautiful. Parking was easy and free which I love. All staff were welcoming, friendly and just lovely. Such a beautiful place to stay, all the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The only downside is as it’s quite remote getting transportation anywhere if you don’t have a car is a little difficult.

This was a stay en route to Cornwall. We’ve stayed a few times before. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and breakfast though I feel a few cut-backs have been applied which aren’t what we expected of this quality of hotel. A couple of other issues were instantly addressed.

From check in to check out a perfect stay. Lovely welcome by receptionist. Our room was very comfortable, great bed and linen, comfortable sofa and every little detail needed for our stay. Even a bedside bottle of sleep mist. We had pre booked pub restaurant through the hotel website. Food choice was good and we enjoyed the fish of the day which was well cooked and presented. Breakfast service was good too. You can walk straight from hotel onto Dartmoor which is very convenient for those wanting to explore without a car.

The Moorland is in a beautiful location and first impressions were good, lounge and dining areas are lovely. However, our room was very small and very hot. In the evening, we waited over 1.5 hours for our food to arrive and the menu was very uninspiring. Breakfasts were excellent though.

Superb location near Haytor on Dartmoor. Very comfortable bed, friendly helpful staff. Lovely views over the garden and surrounding area from the restaurant. Excellent food in the restaurant but it was pricey. Excellent tasteful decor in the lounge which matched the moorland area very well. Recommended

Very relaxed hotel, beautiful large rooms and extensive grounds to walk around. Close to Bovey Tracy and Haytor Rock. The staff were really helpful and professional. The restaurant was excellent and provided a superb breakfast and dinner. We did eat in the pub which is part of the hotel (Tinpickle and Rhum) but the food was cold and service was dreadful, stick to the hotel restaurant in the conservatory! Otherwise a beautiful hotel to stay in in Dartmoor.

Beautifully presented- wonderful location. Unfortunately the service and customer service was disappointing. Good check in - friendly staff. Items not available on the breakfast menu, couldn’t give me the cocktail I ordered from the menu as they hadn’t all the ingredients. The waiting time in the evening for dinner was irritating- we heard several other customers complaining. My husband’s meal wasn’t hot enough. Unfortunately I left an item in our room- no one got back to me for two days after numerous calls, messages left and resorting to email. Once contact was made eventually- Sharma was super and sorted the return of my item. Overall, these glitches were just irritating but didn’t stop us enjoying our stay. Would definitely return. Could have been 5* all around otherwise.

Overall our stay was good. The evening menu was limited and the breakfast menu wasn’t accurate. Eg kippers and eggs was actually kipper and egg. Evening meal fish and chips came served covered in rock salt and had to be sent back.

Very welcoming staff. Wonderful spacious room. There was a welcome gift for the dog and also fudge and a coffee machine for the adults! The breakfast was fantastic with a good choice. Booked on a whim as we were in the area, the hotels surprised with its beautiful location and grounds, lovely public rooms, and friendly staff. Dinner very nice and we will return with our dogs next time. Some deferred maintenance is obvious on the exterior.
