Great pub, exceptionally clean, comfortable and modern rooms and super friendly staff. As a bonus, the food is of a very high standard and the Guinness was decent. Can’t fault this place in any way, stopped here to be in the area for the snooker at the Crucible in Sheffield, it was a 20 minute taxi ride from here to Sheffield Town Centre. As Arnie said….. I’ll be back 😂

We arrived around 6pm on a Saturday night. The bar was rammed, and noisy, and we had reservations about whether to stay or not. But then the manager took us up to our room, and there was no way we were going anywhere! We had booked the suite, which has a lounge area plus bedroom area, a bathroom with a bath and a walk in shower, and even a dressing room. It was beautiful - so welcoming - we genuinely couldn't fault it. The bed was comfortable too. Unfortunately we had to leave early the next morning, so when I enquired about what to do with the key as we would be leaving before breakfast, the manager rustled up a continental breakfast for us, which he brought up to our room just a few minutes later. Granola, fresh fruit, croissant and jam. It was very thoughtful and much appreciated. We had dinner in the restaurant too - which was much quieter than the bar area - and the food was great. If we were in the area again we would hesitate to stay here.

This was a pub hotel so wasn’t expecting much but the room although beautifully decorated was tiny. I had nowhere to sit other than the bed. Let’s not get into parking… if you don’t arrive at the exact correct time you are screwed because the surrounding area is a tiny village and has nowhere to park..

Rooms are really comfortable & clean, the food in the pub is also very good. My issue was the noise from the pub as the room I stayed in was above the Bar. If you are a light sleeper like I am I would not recommend staying here.

The Devonshire is perfectly located in the hills around Chesterfield. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed rooms with comfy beds and super quiet with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Dining options in the pub restaurant were vast and the food delicious with a really friendly team. Final bonus - REAL MILK provided in the fridge for proper morning coffee. Cannot recommend enough. Thank you team Devonshire.

Fantastic stay at this wonderful pub/restaurant with rooms. We received a very warm welcome and were shown to our room and had everything explained. They managed to get us into the restaurant for our evening meal, even though they were very busy and full. Room was outstanding, very spacious and comfortable and extremely clean. The evening meal was also spot on, we ordered different meals but tried each others and I was completely impressed with both. Both of us were full after the main course, but because it had been so enjoyable, I couldn't not have a dessert, we decided to share, and that was my only mistake, once the Sticky toffee pudding arrived I wanted it all to myself. The staff were brilliant, very friendly and even during the busy evening they still attended to every whim and need. We will definitely be returning.

Very friendly welcome. The room was very clean. Nice food in the pub. Pillows could have been better but to be fair they had a sign in the room saying others available- we just didn’t notice. Little bit of noise from the pub while it was open but very quiet once closed.

Great stay welcomed by friendly staff . lovely large well decorated and equipped room. Restaurant is lovely great menu the monkfish and the duck breast dishes where fantastic. They found themselves a great chef . Will be back soon

We had booked the suite, which has a lounge area plus bedroom area, a bathroom with a bath and a walk in shower, and even a dressing room. It was beautiful - so welcoming - we genuinely couldn't fault it. The bed was comfortable too. Unfortunately we had to leave early the next morning, so when I enquired about what to do with the key as we would be leaving before breakfast, the manager rustled up a continental breakfast for us, which he brought up to our room just a few minutes later. Granola, fresh fruit, croissant and jam. It was very thoughtful and much appreciated. We had dinner in the restaurant too - which was much quieter than the bar area - and the food was great. If we were in the area again we would hesitate to stay here.

Can’t fault this place in any way, stopped here to be in the area for the snooker at the Crucible in Sheffield, it was a 20 minute taxi ride from here to Sheffield Town Centre. As Arnie said….. The Devonshire is perfectly located in the hills around Chesterfield. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed rooms with comfy beds and super quiet with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Dining options in the pub restaurant were vast and the food delicious with a really friendly team. Final bonus - REAL MILK provided in the fridge for proper morning coffee. Cannot recommend enough. Fantastic stay at this wonderful pub/restaurant with rooms. We received a very warm welcome and were shown to our room and had everything explained. They managed to get us into the restaurant for our evening meal, even though they were very busy and full. Room was outstanding, very spacious and comfortable and extremely clean. The evening meal was also spot on, we ordered different meals but tried each others and I was completely impressed with both. Both of us were full after the main course, but because it had been so enjoyable, I couldn't not have a dessert, we decided to share, and that was my only mistake, once the Sticky toffee pudding arrived I wanted it all to myself. The staff were brilliant, very friendly and even during the busy evening they still attended to every whim and need. We will definitely be returning.
