beautiful stay with really lovely staff and the facilities were very good, room was good with a beautiful huge bathroom and LED lights, alexa tablet, hairdryer etc. they did a little swan in towels with petals for my boyfriends birthday which was so cute. everyone was really friendly we met, they had animals at the car park which was a lovely surprise, and it was within a good driving distance from villages. view on the lake was great and the fish even came to say hello on the evening. the rooms themselves could have been separated as there was 3 other lodges and sometimes the corridor was a little noisy due to thin walls but it was not a huge issue. the hottub was fabulous but half of the jets on one side didnt work, again, not a huge issue for us as it was still great but could be for someone else. huge beautiful bath and a walk in shower which was powerful and hot, but bath plug hole didn’t work which was a bit sad and the window was smeared on the patio doors but again, for the price, the views, the amenities, overall room and staff it was overlookable for me as our stay was really lovely. thank you so much

check in was amazing, lady on the desk was really helpful and accommodating. Outside of property looks like a farm, but don’t be disappointed by that, it’s after all a fishery! our deluxe room, was lovely and overlooked the lake, features led lighting around the bed, one touch light switch’s, a beautifully refurbed bathroom, tea coffee, hair dryer iron all included in the room, it was my hubbys birthday and they kindly decorated the room, lovely touch ❤️ cannot fault cleanliness of room. Breakfast was continental, plus eggs on toast, the food tasted lovely and the continental selection was vast, lots of different pastry’s, yoghurts, fresh fruit, sausage rolls, cereals, selection of different teas and coffees unfortunately the cleaning around the serving area and cutlery does leave a lot to be desired, it all looks like it needs a deep clean, maybe better cutlery could be purchased it is a shame because it lets the place down, it looks like someone has lost the love for the area. now there is a quiet time implemented between the hours of 10pm and 6am, although our neighbours ignored that and were extremely loud, music, arguing and other stuff til quite late, so that meant we didn’t relax as well as we should off! we stayed the next day to fish and had a lovely day, plenty of vending machines around the area that were reasonable priced, stocked well, although you couldn’t buy a tea or coffee from anywhere, which would of been a nice extra

What an absolute gem! I needed somewhere to stay near to Leicester for 1 night & this place looked picturesque & was reasonablly priced but beyond that I had no real expectations but boy did this place exceed them all! As I was arriving a bit later than anticipated I received a call to confirm that an email would be sent to me with check in details & that a key would be left in a safe location for me. The woman I spoke with was really lovely. The lodges were easy to locate & on arrival I was impressed by the secure entry. To my delight I was also greeted by an array of animals- a very chatty turkey, goats, alpacas, a lovely big pig& a white peacock! On entering the lodges I noted a good level of security. I was delighted to find a microwave along with various itmes of cutlerry, crockery and glassware. There were also two Vending machines, one food one drink, in the entryway which although I did not need to use it is always reasurring to know that there is something available should you need it. The room itself was just wonderful. A door straight out onto decking with a stunning view of the water and a family of ducks/ducklings. As I was with my toddler I was delighted to see that the door was able to be double secured and we instead opened the curtains to enjoy the view. The room itself was spacious, clean & comfortable. There were various gadgets in the room which was cool as well as a fridge. Highly recommended, will stay again. Local shop & takeaway great and 2 min drive.

Check in was smooth. The property needs a deep Clean. Bedroom carpet stained badly over head bed lights thick with dust. Hot tub had scum marks around the edges. Glasses and ashtrays left on the floor from previous stay.

This was our first stay at this lovely place, will definitely look back at going again in the future. Qe were greeted straight away by a lovely lady at reception who explained everything to us. On our way to our room we passed vending machines full of stuff incase you fancied a midnight snack. You get given a fob that allows you access through the barriers on entrance and exit of the property, you use the same fob to get in the the room. The room was a lovely size and so clean and tidy. The bathroom was a great size with the walk in shower being massive and feels amazing when in there. There was a kettle with teas/coffees, there was also a iron and a mini ironing board if needed. You had a lovely bed with lights above and a tv at the end of the bed. We had 2 sofas and another tv that we used to watch netflix. Outside you had a lovely decking area with amazing views of the lake, i proposed to my partner on the decking with the lights glistening in the dark. Out in the carpark you had loads if different animals that are very friendly. Thank you once again to everyone

This place has the opportunity to be something great. Here come the let downs:- *bathroom didn’t look like it had been cleaned *toilet seat not fixed, clearly there are issues with plumbing as the toilet made noises all night *toilet roll holder hanging off the wall *hot tub - you could see the later of dirt on top of the water - for this reason it wasn’t used * cobwebs all over the balcony area *broken chairs *stains on the sofa * bug marks all over the walls *walls are paper thin *outside the lodges needs tidying up - very run down After all the above we didn’t feel we wanted to try the breakfast…definitely wouldn’t go back, unless there was significant improvements to the cleanliness.. There seemed to be a heavy focus on tech in the rooms…it’s a shame if there was that much effort put into the cleanliness this would be a great place

absolutely amazing, got the room with the hot tub and it was perfect, perfectly warm as it goes up to 40°. giant bag of duck food only cost £2 too. would definitely come back

Friendly staff and clean room, hottub was also in a very good condition. although the towels provided are way too small to be used after getting out of the hottub. There is no fishing from the lodges as we expected but we didnt realise there is no fishing or room service at all during the winter months. Makins fishery remains open for the winter though and is only 10mins down the road.

The idea of staying at the edge of the lake seemed really appealing. We stopped here for one night to break up a long journey. The accommodation was mostly clean and presentable however it looked tired and the floor was ridiculously creeky. It was the breakfast that really let it down. I was expecting a full english, instead it was a choice of scrambled or poached egg with toast. The cutlery was filthy and the presentation overall was grubby. The staff were very friendly so no problem there but i wouldn't want to stay again.

We arrived late after a long drive from Scotland was given our room which seemed ok at first but then discovered tv didn’t work. Upon reporting this to the rude staff, we spent the next hour with a guy in the room trying to sort it ending up with a replacement on the desktop that had a broken screen as this was the best they could do. To add to this the room was absolutely thick with dust and filthy even on the coffee table and all round cleanliness was very disappointing. Unfortunately had to spend night here due to it being so late but definitely wouldn’t recommend this unless your maybe considering a fishing trip.

Lovely location, outside needs tidying up area around reception needs stingers and weeds sorting and all clutter moving.a proper good clean in all places and declutterring in breakfast area not put tablecloths overstuff to cover it. Could be a lovely little gem if sorted properly

Do NOT be fooled by the photos of the accommodation. The towels had a black mark - looked like black mould - but not noticed until after use due to way folded The lid on the toilet was broken. There are 2 fish tanks that were only partially full, both were dirty and smelly - one of these was in the restaurant The best thing about the restaurant was the view and the door back out. The restaurant floor apparently had been damaged in a flood but “there hadn’t been time to lift the flooring” This was incredibly dangerous as the flooring moved upwards when you walked causing a major trip hazard When the wind blew there was a terrible draught in the room to the bed on the opposite side of the room due to ill fitting door. The front door to the room seemed to remain open partially when trying to close on leaving the room. This says it is lodges, but is more like a single storey construction. The neighbours can be heard through the walls when talking normally and plugging things in to power sockets. It was supposed to be a luxury lodge - there were no drawers on any units -other than in a coffee table - so no way to unpack. All the surfaces were sticky. On arrival I took off my shoes and stood on grit and crumbs This place seriously needs to up its game!!

I had a lovely stay- I was looking for time away from the hustle and the bustle. This was a breakfast inclusive stay and the chef was struggling that morning because the hob wasn't working. However, despite that he found a way to serve me a plate of eggs on toast which I am grateful for. I did observe that the plates and cutlery were not fully clean. Therefore, a kind request to ensure that these are clean before you set the table etc.

Very comfortable, nice room . It was shame that the room was cleaned in a rush, cobwebs everywhere, loo dirty, watermarks around the sink, empty toiletries from previous guest, mirrors still with water marks. Continental breakfast was nice but still the restaurant wasn't clean too. We could see the dirty under the storages unit. Wasn't busy and we were the first ones having breakfast so it was clearly not cleaned properly.

Heating wasn’t working so was given heaters but it was freezing! Spiders cobs everywhere in the room was a right put off. The place needs a good deep clean!

My low ratings are for the communal area inside reception & bar/restaurant. There was a lot of rubbish laying around including on the sofas & chairs. Every surface & the floor were extremely dirty. Horrid smell too. Glasses & cups were filthy. Our room was surprisingly nice; clean & spacious.

beautiful stay with really lovely staff and the facilities were very good, room was good with a beautiful huge bathroom and LED lights, alexa tablet, hairdryer etc. they did a little swan in towels with petals for my boyfriends birthday which was so cute. everyone was really friendly we met, they had animals at the car park which was a lovely surprise, and it was within a good driving distance from villages. view on the lake was great and the fish even came to say hello on the evening. the rooms themselves could have been separated as there was 3 other lodges and sometimes the corridor was a little noisy due to thin walls but it was not a huge issue. the hottub was fabulous but half of the jets on one side didnt work, again, not a huge issue for us as it was still great but could be for someone else. huge beautiful bath and a walk in shower which was powerful and hot, but bath plug hole didn’t work which was a bit sad and the window was smeared on the patio doors but again, for the price, the views, the amenities, overall room and staff it was overlookable for me as our stay was really lovely. thank you so much

The idea of staying at the edge of the lake seemed really appealing. We stopped here for one night to break up a long journey. The accommodation was mostly clean and presentable however it looked tired and the floor was ridiculously creeky. It was the breakfast that really let it down. I was expecting a full english, instead it was a choice of scrambled or poached egg with toast. The cutlery was filthy and the presentation overall was grubby. The staff were very friendly so no problem there but i wouldn't want to stay again.

check in was amazing, lady on the desk was really helpful and accommodating. Outside of property looks like a farm, but don’t be disappointed by that, it’s after all a fishery! our deluxe room, was lovely and overlooked the lake, features led lighting around the bed, one touch light switch’s, a beautifully refurbed bathroom, tea coffee, hair dryer iron all included in the room, it was my hubbys birthday and they kindly decorated the room, lovely touch ❤️ cannot fault cleanliness of room. Breakfast was continental, plus eggs on toast, the food tasted lovely and the continental selection was vast, lots of different pastry’s, yoghurts, fresh fruit, sausage rolls, cereals, selection of different teas and coffees unfortunately the cleaning around the serving area and cutlery does leave a lot to be desired, it all looks like it needs a deep clean, maybe better cutlery could be purchased it is a shame because it lets the place down, it looks like someone has lost the love for the area. now there is a quiet time implemented between the hours of 10pm and 6am, although our neighbours ignored that and were extremely loud, music, arguing and other stuff til quite late, so that meant we didn’t relax as well as we should off! we stayed the next day to fish and had a lovely day, plenty of vending machines around the area that were reasonable priced, stocked well, although you couldn’t buy a tea or coffee from anywhere, which would of been a nice extra

Easy check in but didn't realise you have to be there before 5pm. Good job I checked. room was nice and big, well heated, bathroom was massive, all modern fittings, and great to be facing the lake. Only thing I can say but its personal choice is the bed was really hard and didn't have a great nights sleep.

This place is really nice but could be something amazing with a bit more TLC. The room we stayed in was extremely spacious but could do with a little bit of renovation. The staff were kind and helpful. The view from the decking was lovely and tranquil and the kids loved the farm animals! Would stay again for sure

The staff were friendly and accomdating and eager to please. There was an unfortunate incident, in which the electrics failed and staff, (Alison) despite difficult weather conditions had everything sorted in an impressive 10-15mins. Very nice and comfortable accommodation with lovely views

We arrived late after a long drive from Scotland was given our room which seemed ok at first but then discovered tv didn’t work. Upon reporting this to the rude staff, we spent the next hour with a guy in the room trying to sort it ending up with a replacement on the desktop that had a broken screen as this was the best they could do. To add to this the room was absolutely thick with dust and filthy even on the coffee table and all round cleanliness was very disappointing. Unfortunately had to spend night here due to it being so late but definitely wouldn’t recommend this unless your maybe considering a fishing trip.

What an absolute gem! I needed somewhere to stay near to Leicester for 1 night & this place looked picturesque & was reasonablly priced but beyond that I had no real expectations but boy did this place exceed them all! As I was arriving a bit later than anticipated I received a call to confirm that an email would be sent to me with check in details & that a key would be left in a safe location for me. The woman I spoke with was really lovely. The lodges were easy to locate & on arrival I was impressed by the secure entry. To my delight I was also greeted by an array of animals- a very chatty turkey, goats, alpacas, a lovely big pig& a white peacock! On entering the lodges I noted a good level of security. I was delighted to find a microwave along with various itmes of cutlerry, crockery and glassware. There were also two Vending machines, one food one drink, in the entryway which although I did not need to use it is always reasurring to know that there is something available should you need it. The room itself was just wonderful. A door straight out onto decking with a stunning view of the water and a family of ducks/ducklings. As I was with my toddler I was delighted to see that the door was able to be double secured and we instead opened the curtains to enjoy the view. The room itself was spacious, clean & comfortable. There were various gadgets in the room which was cool as well as a fridge. Highly recommended, will stay again. Local shop & takeaway great and 2 min drive.

The lady who was supposed to make breakfast did not show up on the morning of our departure, so as a matter of apology the person at the desk promptly refunded £10 to us. Great. A great place to stay If you want to go somewhere quiet, private and chilled this is the place. Everything you need in the room and with a spectacular view. We visited in the winter so will be busier in the sunmer.

The room was very nice initially, lights were ALEXA controlled which was easy once I noticed in the book. Large screen TV with easy access to the HDMI socket for my firestick,. modern controls for very large shower, Evening food ( room service) was excellent, what let the place down was the poor finish in the bathroom, and cheap doors, the floor in the bathroom was also not finished properlly, the sealant around the shower was also very poorly finished, along with the ceiling paint. asking for poached eggs at breakfast, although done, was a begrudged process with the waitress pulling a face.

Such a unique and charming property. There was a mix up with our room and we were upgraded to a lovely suite with hot tub. Slightly rustic around the edges but that is part of its charm. Lovely lakes and lots of amazing animals to pet. The evening food cooked to order and delivered to the lodge was one of the best steaks I have ever had. Pong Alison and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. We will definitely return

Great support from reception as were arriving very late and need the car charging. Room was lovely and had a lovely view, breakfast room was a little disappointing, needed a good clean and due to an electricity issue could only offer scramble eggs. However suited us for the night as we were stopping over for a funeral.

This venue is looking tired and needs some updating. It was evident that our room had not been cleaned for a while. The soap dispenser had a small leak which had been going long enough to deposit half the contents in the shower, making the cubicle very dangerous and slippery. The bathroom floor was past its best, the plastic coated tiles were peeling and were overdue for renewal. The balcony was neglected, bird dirt, cobwebs and a dirty ashtray. The carpet in the room had a dirty patch. The only facility, a vending machine, was empty and broken. No attempt had been made to compensate for this. And to cap it all, someone came into reception carrying a dead rat when we were checking out. On a positive note the ducks and fish were great.

Stayed for a couple of nights in the middle of the last heat wave. It was hot, very, very hot. Not the fault of the hotels obviously! But AC or a better fan would have been appreciated. Room was good, lots of mod cons & spacious. Booked specifically for the location and the EV chargers, however the chargers are almost a waste of time. At £0.65kwh they are on the more expensive side, but the main issue is they charge at 2KWH, presuming because of the rural location of the site. A full overnight charge barely got me to 50%. Luckily, because I was there for two nights I could repeat the process. Lack of food and drink options was frustrating, I wasn't aware of this at booking, but if I was more prepared I could have brought some food myself. I made a presmption... Also, finally, a fun fact. If the hotel has a power cut - your front door off the corridor becomes unlocked and physically opens - the doors have no latches or handles, working off a magnetic lock instead. That was interesting to realise. Refer to heat wave for dress code when my door was open and unlocked!! Stayed for a couple of nights in the middle of the last heat wave. It was hot, very, very hot. Not the fault of the hotels obviously! But AC or a better fan would have been appreciated. Room was good, lots of mod cons & spacious. Booked specifically for the location and the EV chargers, however the chargers are almost a waste of time. At £0.65kwh they are on the more expensive side, but the main issue is they charge at 2KWH, presuming because of the rural location of the site. A full overnight charge barely got me to 50%. Luckily, because I was there for two nights I could repeat the process. Lack of food and drink options was frustrating, I wasn't aware of this at booking, but if I was more prepared I could have brought some food myself. I made a presmption... Also, finally, a fun fact. If the hotel has a power cut - your front door off the corridor becomes unlocked and physically opens - the doors have no latches or handles, working off a magnetic lock instead. That was interesting to realise. Refer to heat wave for dress code when my door was open and unlocked!!
