Lovely stay, despite in house restaurant seeming to be high end, cooked to order fresh/organic and local its way too expensive. Car charging only one working and held by one car for over 14hrs, so arrive with a charge

Idyllic Hotel, in an old building, but maintained to a very high standard, with a fantastic restaurant.

Great dog friendly rooms.

Beautiful property, lovely food. Garden room was delightful with own garden and parking.

Unfortunately they are renovating the restaurant so limited menu in the bar. Also had to change lunch to another restaurant as they were drilling so too noisy. This will be finished in a few days though, and as I have stayed here before I know this is not normal and I will certainly continue to stay at the Priory and would recommend it.

The location is really lovely and has a nice outside eating area. Our room, although nice, was very small and there was no lift, which was difficult with the number of bags we had. We had a small bar snack of olives, which were ok at £5…..and bread with Balsamico and olive oil which was disappointing, as it was two small pieces of bread with very little olive oil with the balsamico…..which for £6 for the bread was excessive. Despite that negative comment the hotel itself is very special, for its location and history.

The Priory Hotel in Caerleon is a charming, historic hotel set in a former monastery. It offers comfortable rooms, a well-regarded restaurant, and beautiful gardens. Its location in the Roman town of Caerleon is ideal for exploring local attractions.

Totally and utterly amazing place, absolutely exceed my expectations Shame only one charge point was working, but the team went out of their way to help me. Will definitely stay here next time I’m in the area

Lovely house and grounds with lots of history, good parking although only 1 EV charger that only runs at 3KW thats if you can park by it because other less considerate guests park on the bays with non ev cars, the rooms are well appointed and clean although we were given Room 4 upstairs despite asking for a ground floor, the room smelled of cooked meat due to the kitchen extraction fans being outside the window, the bed was very uncomfortable, i ended up having to use a walking stick the next day due to a stiff back, they did move us to a ground floor room the next day to be fair but the bed was the same, breakfasts were hit and miss, the full breakfast looked good but the black pudding was an aquired taste, the hash brown or rostie whatever it was fell apart and sausages weren't very good, the continental breakfast was not comprehensive, cereals, a couple of different pasties, meat and cheese slices and pots of yoghurt if there were any left, the filter coffee is bitter, any other option costs extra, apple or orange or water only, we ordered tea which we waited 25 minutes for and gave up and left in the end.... when the heating is on the rooms are like saunas and the water is red hot... the heaters are on or off so rooms hot or cold, the bar is noisy in evenings and only sells 2 lagers and No beer but lots of wine, wouldn't stay again....

Lovely peaceful gardens to relax and enjoy, very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast and very clean room. Great overall atmosphere in an historic building. Will definitely be returning in the near future to explore more in the village. Very happy all round experience.

A beautiful place to stay, I was in the deluxe cottage with my dog. The room was beautiful and clean, spacious bathroom and an enclosed garden with a decking area and chairs. The air conditioning was wonderful! Staff very friendly and helpful, would definitely stay here again.

After many stays at the Priory over the last 18 months we are now compelled to find an alternative for our trips to visit family back in the UK. There are pluses: its location; scenic grounds; the breakfast; some spacious rooms; pleasant staff. Unfortunately, there's been something wrong on each stay. Many trivial issues (disappearing wi-fi, unwashed glasses, un-restocked complimentary water bottles, refusal to serve restaurant food in the garden, inoperative coffee pods) mount up and when added to some larger issues we were left with a bad taste. The rooms appear to have been designed for looks, rather than use. Low slung beds, high backed uncomfortable chairs, the lack of usable surfaces & small rooms may suffice for a short stay, but not for anything more than 3-4 nights. Some encounters with staff have been unfortunate, being berated on check-in for some unfathomable reason and provided with incorrect information about services. We were grateful the manager was apologetic about these incidents, but it did indicate untrained staff left to fend for themselves. The final straw was arriving at the hotel on our recent visit to be assigned a cottage that stank of smoke. This meant a downgrade to a small double room, without any offer of compensation or apology. Either the cleaning staff did not inform management or management decided to try and use it anyway. In either case this was unacceptable.

When we arrived we were greeted by a man sitting on the sofa. He told us we could check in but didn't guide us and remained seated. I went to the terminal and because I had checked in online it told us to speak to someone on the front desk so we went back to the sofa. We were then taken to our room. On making a coffee we found two broken/ used coffee pods. We didn't see this as a problem until I used an out of date oat milk from 2024 and another from April 25. We took them down to the front desk in the envelope given to us on check in. The man on reception said he'd get it sorted. On our return to the room 40 minutes or so later this hadn't been done. My husband went back down again and he was given the coffee pods but not the milk. He rang the room an hour later saying he'd bring some up shortly but someone had to go out and get some oat milk (this was delivered in a grey milk jug). We went down for dinner. We had a lovely dinner. We decided we'd get a drink or two in the bar afterwards. So we asked the server if we could order small plated at the bag. He said he'd check and when he came back he said 'through gritted teeth they said you can order until 9pm'. Following this awful exchange we also heard an employee talking about us at the bar, complaining about us being there. We spoke to management after our stay and they offered 'to take care of us' if we returned but in my opinion this solution is not acceptable. We wont back.

All ok very clean comfortable and amazing shower. Negative was next to the car park.

Lovely hotel unfortunately we stayed on the hottest day of the year so the room was very hot. The hotel is lovely and air conditioned but the rooms outside aren't but they did provide a fan. All staff were really nice and friendly and the breakfast was lovely. We would definately return of in the area.

Nice place to stay , good clean rooms and bathrooms

Room was very hot and no air con Bed was very squeaky every time you moved. And lots of noise from adjoining rooms. Wouldn’t bother with the restaurant - which is overpriced and overrated.

Enjoyed the hotel, the room was very loud from traffic and drinking (I had ear plugs which solved the problem) also there is shutters rather than curtains, which means it gets light in the morning. Hotel was fantastic and will book again. Feedback - at breakfast, it would have been nice if lattes etc are included in the breakfast price.

It was fantastic and will definitely stay again. Unlucky in that WiFi was down during my stay and under repair.

Lovely hotel and grounds. We had a cosy double, my only two complaints about the room are the bed is so soft, whenever my other half rolled over, I thought I would be catapulted off the bed and the doors really slam shut and shake the whole room so when people leave early in the morning you are woken up. Breakfast options are good, lovely fruit and cooked options. The orange and apple juice are basically just coloured water, they don’t taste of anything, so that could definitely be improved. The evening bar staff and restaurant staff are so lovely, they make you feel so welcome and are really chatty. The restaurant is also good, different concept but great food. Lots of parking, we stayed for 2 nights but said we were there for a week on the registration screen when you log your number plate as there are reviews of people getting tickets.

The complex is brilliant and the rooms are well fitted out. The check in girl was absolutely lovely. However, the door and side panels are of the room are frosted glass. Therefore the outside light came through the glass all night. Then the sun came up. We told the man on checkout that we did not have a good night. He informed us that previous people had pulled it off and they were waiting for a replacement. There were other vacant rooms available. He preceded to give us our bill and as an afterthought said he would not charge us for breakfast. Very disappointing that we were put in the room in the first place since we really liked the environment

The priory is a beautifully place the room and service was outstanding the only issue I have and it is a preference for some people is the mattress it was a spring mattress , for such a beautiful place and stunning expensive looking furnishings etc to have a cheap maters was disappointing

Great retreat eso food however WiFi is shocking

Always amazing, IT glitches at book-in and departure poor receptionist could do nothing but apologies but these things happen. Car charges need updating to a minimum of 22kw so a charge can be fully achieved in 6-8 hrs

The staff were absolutely fantastic, so helpful and considerate. Just a very happy environment. The room was absolutely beautiful, I’ve already recommended the priory to so many! I look forward to returning

Anna at Reception was friendly and very helpful even showing me to my room. Room was small but very clean and comfortable. Coffee, tea and water supplied. Food in hotel was delicious 😋

Massive attention to detail from the staff, from Bethany and Louis on reception, showing us to our room and explaining everything, to then going for the evening meal we booked, yes the food is expensive £140 for a two course meal for 2 people but the quality was outstanding and absolutely delicious, our waiter for the evening was an amazing man called Scott, huge attention to detail for us both, excellent conversation and laughs with us and made us feel very very welcome and very special, he made the whole experience for the occasion. Only one gripe about everything, you really let yourself down with a very sub par breakfast, really disappointing, you need to address this !!!!but even with that said the staff were still very helpful and on hand. Overall 4.5 out of 5 for me, would defo stay again and go back for an amazing meal, the staff make the stay not the place !!!!!

What a lovely find esp when Cardiff over-priced and poor availability for a big gig at Principality. Easy taxi to train station and frequent trains into Cardiff Central. Hotel itself really special with great staff and very nicely turned-out rooms with local Welsh water and toiletries.

We had an absolutely superb stay at the Priory Hotel. Check in check out so simple, dining was amazing, good choice of menu, comfortable room,staff so helpful.

Gorgeous room and property, right near museums. Parking was easy, everything walkable. Loved it

The priory is a 12th century building, it has a beautiful architectural style with character and charm, set in a beautiful grounds within a short walk of the ancient Roman amphitheatre, and the Roman legion museum which are free to visit. As for the staff, they make it, friendly, helpful, a warm cheeky charm and a welcoming demeanour. We loved our 3 night stay.

lovely friendly hotel with fantastic location though the rooms are not really suitable for disabled or those with mobility issues.

Old with an interesting history and situated in pleasant grounds. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food in restaurant was excellent although a bit pricy. Room was on the small side but lovely. Only issue was the two large steps up into the bathroom with no handrails. Some people may find this problematic.

The food was exquisite. We loved the dining concept too - why are more people not doing this?

Room was beautifully appointed, clean and spacious. Garden and grounds well kept and litter free. Staff friendly and efficient. However, the full breakfast was a big disappointment. Some strange tasting ingredients and only one cup of coffee and no refills offered.

The location fitted my work, the hotel is in good order. The rest especially the food was a disgrace, quality of food was very poor (cross contamination on display) fish displayed was so bad. Service matched the food. Breakfast was un-edible on both mornings, bread was full of mold, bacon was the same, eggs were not cooked and hash brown was dark brown and was inedible. No one cared, said sorry but did not act. Three of us booked for second night meal but went elsewhere for food. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
