Great place to say, just check the pool times beforehand if you have kids as it was only 8am-9am and 4pm to 6pm.

Lovely hotel, not huge so personal feel. Absolutely spotless. Staff friendly and lovely pool. Very relaxing break. Worth noting there is no lift so had to use stairs. Not an issue for us but worth knowing if you do struggle with stairs so you can ask for an accessible room. Will stay there again.

Lots of free and easy parking in nice grounds. Check in was well managed and the introduction to the room was very good. There are 2 dining areas, both offering good food choices and lots of outdoor seating in the Spa bar. Room is well equipped with a large bathroom with large bath and over bath shower. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly

Parking good, staff good, food good, although did try and charge an extra £10 on our mains, fortunately we noticed it!!! The bath plug wouldn’t work - thanks to the lady who tried to help. Pillows are tired - need replacing - a struggle to get to room because of stairs - fortunately I’m fit. Constant drone from somewhere which is annoying! Special thanks for the latte ready for our early start - much appreciated

Really nice place. Very relaxing. Staff couldn't do more for you. Room was nice, bathroom was nice, with a very powerful shower. The pool, sauna, steam room, hydrotherapy pool, etc were lovely. Very quiet (on a week day at least!). Would definitely go again for a mid week unwind.

The staff are exceptionally nice and always cheerful. The spa is extremely good with a quiet swimming area, jacuzzi, steam and sauna, as well as an excellent massage and facial. It was perfect for a relaxing weekend and very good value.

Nice older hotel. Lacking USB sockets. Old fashioned shower heads. Lovely toiletries. Great service in the brasserie. Food always came out piping hot. Beware of service charge added to your bills. The bar closes early with no warning. The gym is small, but well equipped. They also run classes. All accessible to the public too.

Stayed with my girlfriends in a Ashby Suite, with lovely double room and a lounge with a comfortable sofa bed. It had a kitchen with cooker but only one bathroom so if the person sleeping in the lounge had to use bathroom in the night they had to go through other bedroom where others were sleeping to do their deed. Ladies at the reception were pleasant and smiley, wouldn’t say the same for bar staff, in the morning went to get some milk so we could enjoy coffee in our suite with milk because there wasn’t any in there (would have been a nice touch seeing as there was coffee and tea there anyway), a barman looked miserable as sin, no good morning no please, no thank you. Facilities are clean, didn’t eat at hotel so can’t rate the food but it looked fairly busy with older folk. The downside is that there isn’t much around, to get to town where there are few bars and restaurants, you will pay £10 for a taxi and to return later in the night it will be double that. A little odd thing we found was that to get from our suite to spa we had to walk through the hall, through dining room and bar in our dressing gowns. In the morning, there was aerobics in the swimming pool and so we weren’t able to enjoy a swim, we weren’t made aware of it at any point upon arrival and I didn’t see any posters there anywhe… Would we return? We all agreed that most like we wouldn’t but that is not to say that I wouldn’t recommend it to others, perhaps more suitable for older generation though..

Every single member of the team was warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly – you could really feel that they cared about making guests comfortable. The rooms were spotlessly clean and beautifully kept, which made for a really relaxing stay. The spa was the highlight for us – we absolutely loved it. The jacuzzi and hydro pool were wonderfully warm, and even the small outdoor pool had lovely hot water, which was such a treat. It was the perfect place to unwind. The food at the hotel was also amazing – beautifully presented, full of flavour, and excellent service to match. Overall, Hempstead House is a gem. The staff, the spa, the food, and the atmosphere all came together to give us a stay we won’t forget. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, friendly, and luxury experience in Kent.

We had the loveliest stay in this hotel, the staff were so welcoming and the spa was amazing! Also would highly recommend booking into the Lakes Restaurant during your stay, great food for a really good value and our server (Faith I think her name was) was fabulous! We would definitely be back :)

We booked this hotel as it has a lift and my wife has trouble with stairs. Unfortunately our room was in part of the hotel that didn’t have a lift. We should have asked for a different room but we didn’t and that was our fault. The restaurant staff were all very friendly and looked after us well. The food was well cooked and extremely tasty. The spa was very nice. The room we were in could have done with a clean around the windows where there were quite a few cobwebs and dead flies. The pillows weren’t very comfortable. They could do with replacing. Our stay overall was very enjoyable and we would go back.

We had a wonderful stay, from the moment we walked in we were greeted & made most welcome by a gentleman, he offered to help with our luggage & also showed us to our room which was lovely & spotless. Everything about this hotel is 5 stars. The staff are a credit to the hotel, they are so welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble, this without a doubt adds to the enjoyment to our stay. The food in the hotels Lakeside restaurant is superb. We cannot wait to return. Thank you for our wonderful stay.

Overall fine for 1 night stay. Room generally comfortable - thankfully a fan available and outside temperature had dropped slightly otherwise would have been a much less comfortable experience. Dismayed to find faecal matter on the wall by the toilet. Attention to detail in housekeeping could be better - reported to reception who apologised, but no offer of goodwill for the experience was given. Disappointed to not be able to access the outside hot tub before 8am - by this time others entered the hot tub including a young child which surprised me. We were departing after breakfast so could not stay longer to use the spa facility. Breakfast ok - bacon was dried out as though it was under a heat lamp too long? Overall ok - parking was fine - only appeared to be a standard plug for electric vehicles- not usable for our vehicle so had to charge offsite which was also a shame.

Enjoyed the hotels location and it was clean and tidy throughout. I wouldnt rate it as highly as other venues i have stayed at because it lacked some of the elements of a luxury hotel such as some of the staff seemed less helpful than others and the older side of the hotel could do with some tlc in places. A touch overpriced in my view but overall ok.

Cramped attic room that was unfit for purpose as you could not walk round the bed safely or in an upright position.

Beautiful hotel in quiet location, great spa facilities and lovely restaurant. Room was very warm and not great sound proofing, we could clearly hear the guests in the next room using the loo which they did regularly throughout the night so we didn’t get a good nights sleep. No Prosecco in the restaurant which would have been very disappointing however it prompted me to try English sparkling wine which I never would have tried and it was delicious!! All in all a very pleasant stay and we will definitely return.

Wonderful place to stay with excellent staff willing to help all the time. Lovely old fashioned room in keeping with the old house and excellent spa facilities and new gym equipment. The hotel was dog-friendly and although not allowed in the restaurant, they are in the other food area near the spa and breakfast was served in a snug room with only one table so very private. Only issue was the very large bed had two separate matresses joined together, one mattress was lower and in really poor condition so didn't get much sleep. I would've requested a room change if staying another night. The grounds are lovely but maybe need some TLC in some areas. Overall really nice stay and would recommend.

My only complaint would be my room was very warm even though it has air-conditioning it can only be turned down to 20. That’s the highest I have the heating on in my house and the thermometer was saying my room was 26° even with the Aircon on.

Lovely old, characterful hotel with a spa and fitness centre. Room was lovely and spacious and bed was really comfy. Bathroom had both a tub and a shower and was very clean - as expected. Food in the restaurant was delicious and there was plenty of choice for breakfast.

Expected a lot more from a spa hotel, rooms were clean. Unfortunately very dated and lacking that feeling of you’ve paid a bit more to stay somewhere nice, I feel it could do with some updating. I moved rooms from a superior to an executive as superior had a lot after boiler cupboard next door and I couldn’t sleep at all with the noise. There was not much difference in the standard of the rooms, I didn’t feel I would pay extra to book the executive and feel that the standard rooms may be as good as any others but I didn’t look in one. The bedding was not nice hotel quality white cotton sheets, it was dated and matching the headboard! I didn’t use spa facilities as was down visiting family so just using for sleeping and breakfast. If you like a spa then it’s worth staying as the use is included in the accommodation price,

I have stayed in hotels with a higher star rating that are not a patch on this, especially where cleanliness is concerned. Special mention to the front of house lady at check in, set the tone and a credit to the company. The only negative feedback would be to urge the spa bar staff to acknowledge their customers at the counter in a timely manner, however busy they are, if there are two bar staff and a spa receptionist behind the counter (and there was also a lady who wondered behind texting and then wondered off), it wouldn't hurt for one of you to say hello or I will be with you soon. However, all in all, a fabulous experience and i was unable to reduce the staff rating, as it wouldn't be fair to front of house, the restaurant and restaurant bar staff who were all absolutely wonderful.

Linked to a visit to Canterbury, Hempstead House was wirthin easy reach. We got shown the hotels facilities before being taken to our room by friendly reception staff. The room was very clean and spacious, the pool was great although the sauna a little small, hydro pool very enjoyable. We enjoyed the evening in the brasserie bar, the barmaid Anna was very good company and her local knowledge was very helpful. We didn't eat in the evening however the breakfast was very good and plentiful, served by a lovely lady. Overall a great stay and will definitely stay again.

Staff were some of the best i've encountered very friendly & helpful. For my meetings next day, was perfect location, room was in great condition but watch out for the pigeons, if you leave windows open they love to join you in your room!

Hempstead House is a beautiful Spa Hotel, surrounded by lovely gardens. It has everything one could want for a relaxing stay. The staff were all extremely friendly and very helpful. Wonderful breakfast in the morning. Would definitely return.

I had a fabulous trip away for my birthday. This was the 3rd time coming here. The last time was 5 years ago for my 40th so thought I'd replicate it for my 45th. Both were solo trips. The pool is lovely, the massage and facial is booked were amazing and the afternoon tea was fabulous. The only downside was the dinner on my birthday. I'd stipulated it was my birthday on booking and been told they'd do something special for the dinner but other than a few sparkles on the table saying happy birthday it wasn't even acknowledged by any of the wait staff. The female staff couldn't even summon up a smile. (The male was friendlier but still not even a word about my birthday) I wasn't sure expecting much but just to be wished happy birthday would have been nice. 5 years ago I got a plate with petit fours and happy birthday written in chocolate but this time nothing. Had I not made a point of it being a birthday dinner would have been different but I had and been promised something. On the plus side the food was lovely. And the rosé wine was the best I've had in a long time. breakfasts were also good and freshly made with plenty of choice for both continental and cooked.

Mu daughter Ellie celebrating her 16th birthday the slate decorated with Happy birthday in white chocolate and sweets was lovely.The pooland spa very enjoyable.The only thing that wasnt nice was a mojito cocktail asked for,barman made with white rum tonic water ,2 slices of lime,a real mojito has crushed ice mint,brown sugar and it tasted unpleasant.

Lovely hotel,2 restaurants 1 was a Thai restaurant and the food was to a very high standard,the breakfast was delicious as well and the service was first class from all of the hotel colleague’s.

This is our second time here and again we loved the whole experience. Service is great, staff are friendly and it’s a lovely setting to relax. We made use of the outdoor pool facilities as the weather was lovely and then chilled out in the indoor pool area. All the food we had was lovely, and our room was beautiful and clean.

Lovely Saturday night impulse stay for a mini spa break. Great facilities and excellent customer service by the friendly staff. Only slight negative was not made clear that one of the restaurants is closed at weekends, which left only the a la carte restaurant available.
