Parking Valets couldn't help with bags. Front Desk was slow. Not all elevators worked with room keys.

Calls themselves pet friendly but literally no where for the dogs to potty and they put us on the 8th floor. When I inquired about an area for dogs, front desk referred me to a small "turf area” on the third floor. It is literally a cut out of turf COVERED in dog poop and pee. Again, no where for my dogs to relieve other than a small patch of snow we found on the sidewalk outside of the hotel lobby. I would’ve never brought my dogs had I known this. Also, when I asked about a luggage cart (again, huge casino hotel and we’re on the 8th floor), I was told that they must all be in use or I can check the parking garage. I did that and couldn’t find a cart so 4 trips up and down, I finally got my luggage in the room. Our room reeked of cigarette smoke on a non smoking floor. Even the casino smelled better than our room and we found garbage in a corner when we first entered. Only good thing about this hotel was the shower, great shower in our room.

There are 4 elevators that bring guest from the casino and lobby to the guest rooms. You have to use a key card to access the room floors. Safe right? Unfortunately the elevators broke during our stay. Only one was operational during our stay. Making a 20 minute wait to get up to your room. Also the casino is open to the public. So since the elevators were overloaded with people only one key card was activating the floors making it possible for anyone guest or not, to access the guest floors. When I asked if there were stairs the associate said only to the parking floors which separate the guest floors and casino and lobby. Won’t be staying again.

Random people asking to use your room key to go up the elevators. No room service after 3 night stay. Door to bathroom would not close. Phone was not working. No Gym. No free breakfast for as much as they charge. Room was nice and spacious. 2nd time staying here, next time I will stay somewhere else.

Staff immediately helped us check in. The view from our 17th floor room was beautiful. The beds and pillows were perfectly firm and we slept so good. We slept so good we missed breakfast, but have heard good things. Room and bathroom were clean and nicely cold on a hot city summer day. Wish they had a pool, but really no complaints. Would stay here again.

Elevator key only worked on 2 of the elevators...If the desk had told me about that I would be fine, but not a word!

Ridiculous they charge a resort fee with no pool or anything. But rooms were nice.

The elevators didn’t work. Leaving me to walk all the way around to hotel to get to casino.. I upgraded to what was supposed to be a balcony only to a set of doors to open but no balcony.. why upgrade and call it a balcony when you can’t go out in the balcony

Nice room. Good location. Free self parking and plenty of spaces open. Fun casino. Lots of slots.

Cleanliness

Very clean rooms.

The cleaning was substandard and they didn’t appear to address my concerns. Found a used bandage left on the shower bench which created questions about the rest of the cleaning

Dirty sheets and heater broken on high. The property is pretty. There is a lot of construction in parking area, not a big deal. Looks clean...until we turned down the bed and the sheets were dirty. There was ketchup or blood on them. We requested 2 times for them to be changed at the front desk. The first night upon arrival we were told it would be done the next day, so we slept on top of the covers. First thing in the morning I requested it again, when we arrived back still dirty sheets. On the second day I saw house keeping and ask them myself. He apologized and said it would be done, he made the dirty bed. Considering the heating in the hotel was stuck on high and everyone had to use fans and sleep with the windows open, while there was snow on the ground, it was okay we slept on top of the bed.

The property is a bit rundown. The attention to cleanliness needs improvement. You will often see food scraps around on tables and floors. There was a strange smell around the hotel. The rooms are old. The monarch next door is way nicer. The good thing is the monarch is next door so you can get a cheaper room at horseshoe and spend all your time at the monarch

Property was clean. Bed sheets were not clean. Sheets were stained and the restroom was dirty. Will think twice about staying at this place on my next visit to Blackhawk.

Rooms are very clean

never cleaned up our rooms for three days even though I requested over the phone to the front desk.

The room was updated and very clean. Check-in was painless and smooth.

It was dirty and there was molding food in the snack/ice spot on the 6th floor. We ate dinner at Brew Brothers and it was horrible! Even made me sick throughout the night. Had a bug in my drink and ribs looked so under cooked.

Great room for a great value and a nice property. Enjoyed our time in this hotel/casino!

Was excellent. Only complaint I had is that the my room was near the elevators and they are quite loud

I stayed in a junior suite with two queen beds, and the room was spacious, clean, and overall very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout the stay. Parking is free in the garage, though spots can be tough to find depending on the time of day. The elevators were all working properly, which was appreciated. My only suggestion would be to add a gym to the property — that would really round out the amenities. Otherwise, it was a great stay and I’d consider returning.

It was very nice inside, updated rooms. The air conditioner/heater wouldn’t go below 65 F and even in almost winter it was still too warm in the bedroom

We were traveling as a group 4 rooms. My mom (who is elderly)was two rooms from the elevator. The elevator obviously has motor issues-because it sounds loud. She got three hours of sleep the first of three nights. When she went the next morning to ask to be moved. She was told to come back later in the day to see if it was possible. The Assistant Manager was not professional at all with her. We went back later and was told no to moving. She was not offered a discount or any compensation. My husband and I ended up trading rooms with her so she could get some rest. The rooms were very clean.

Staff were not friendly. Bathroom door was broken. View was terrible even when asking for a decent view.

Everything good, but if you enjoy a warm shower dribbling down on you with absolutely no pressure...this is the place for you.

I gifted a VIP guest a room there and paid for everything upfront on my credit card and still the front desk told my guest that they needed their credit card and and put a 75 dollar hold on it for some reason. They refused to give a receipt at the end of all of that and they took away from my gift giving experience by doing that. I want to be able to gift a room without my guest being hassled to give their card or pay anything out of their pocket. Not happy about that

I will not be staying here again. Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience. What many people may not know is that this property is affiliated with the Lady Luck Hotel. Due to overbooking at the Horseshoe, the staff decided—without any communication—to move our reservation to Lady Luck. We were not given the option to cancel or even informed of the change. When we arrived, they claimed we didn’t have a reservation at all. The only “record” of our booking was a sticky note instructing staff to place us at Lady Luck. We had to reload our luggage into the car and wait until 4 PM for a manager to arrive, who was just as rude and unhelpful as the rest of the staff. We specifically booked the Horseshoe to stay with the rest of our group, and this change completely disrupted our plans. There was no apology, no compensation, and no accountability—just a dismissive attitude. This experience could have been entirely different with a simple phone call or email. Instead, it felt like we were treated as an inconvenience. I won’t be returning..

I booked 7 rooms for an office holiday evening. Upon checking in, my wife and I got keys to not one but 2 rooms in a row that were already occupied. (See check in card pic with 3 different room numbers marked down) It wasn’t just unprofessional but a significant security concern. The level of incompetence of the front desk staff blew my mind and I don’t even know how the hotel mgmt software could have allowed it to happen. Regardless, passing out access to someone else’s room once is an embarrassing mistake. The 2nd immediately thereafter is a risky joke. In retrospect I should have spent a few more bucks and booked Monarch or Ameristar instead.

The computers were down and our check in was delayed. The staff did their best to facilitate our needs.

We arrived about 20 minutes before 4pm and the front office 2 associates sitting behind the desk were not helping anyone. I ask if I could check in now for our room and was told if I wanted to check in now I would have to pay $10 extra dollars for the room or wait till after 4pm. I was very surprised to hear that. In all my travels I have never encountered such a thing. They could have checked me in but let me know that the room will not be ready till 4pm. Instead they made everyone wait until 4pm to line up for check in.

First of all, they originally told me I didn’t have a resservation! After I gave them my confirmation #, the agent was like , oh yea ….that was it. And to have a 4;00 check in and asked if we could check in 15 minutes early because of an event we flew into town for, the answer being well it’s $10.00 ! Not , let me see what I can do nothing , just not very accommodating at all.

We booked with Expedia and it says pet fees are $50 and to call the hotel ahead to inform the hotel. No problem I called 3 times. First on Thursday the front desk clerk said we’ll note the account. Friday I called to ensure the note on the account and was transferred to reservations. Reservations was in communication with the hotel. According to the assistant manager emails were sent back and forth but no communication was sent to us. The disconnect is when we got to the hotel they placed us in a non pet room without informing us before hand they were doing this. Not even at check in. The issue is there is an additional fee for staying in a non pet room and no one told us this the 3 times I called. The surprise was at checkout. According to the assistant manager the additional fee was added on Friday evening before we arrived. Again no one informed us of this additional fee. We weren’t aware until we received the bill at checkout. The money is not the issue the issue is no one informed us we were being placed in a non pet room. We don’t know what a non pet rooms looks like so how were we supposed to know the difference. There were multiple opportunities for the hotel to inform us they were giving us a non pet room. The 3 times I called once Thursday, twice Friday, and upon check in on Saturday at approximately 4pm. Very disappointed with the lack of communication and sticking us with additional charges we didn’t consent to or were aware of. Hotel has updated the pet policy.

Great stay - the employee at the front desk was friendly and helpful, and accomodated our 11pm late arrival. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was large and had plenty of hot water, and the coffee in the room was decent.

Staff is not attentive, so if you’re looking for something or need to ask a question, you’re better to figure out for yourself. When we arrived, our welcome was as warm as the coffee in the room. Rude, rolling of eyes, and heavy sighs both times we had to interact with hotel staff. My advice, get a better hotel room somewhere else, especially for the price! Not worth it! The casino staff…horrible, rude, and seemed to be more interested in each other than paying customers! Absolutely one of the most dissatisfying, disappointing stay Won’t be returning ever

We enjoyed our stay the room and it's features were very nice. It matched the advertised pictures exactly. The Casino is small . The location towards the end of Main st lent to a less busy atmosphere. Perfect for us. The Trolly stopped in front at lobby which made travel all throughout the are easy.

Love the location. Front desk was great.

It was close too many other casinos and was able to walk to some.

We really like the Central City/Black Hawk area, we decided to try a newer hotel and casino for this stay. Definitely a good choice. Walking distance to most of the area, and a free shuttle to Central City. Cleanest bathroom I’ve seen in a hotel in a while.

It was a very nice property. The rooms were spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. The staff was nice. Walking distance from the monarch, which had a very nice restaurant called 24/7. All in all an enjoyable time. The casino was very nice too.

Clean and loved the location

My sister and I came to Horseshoe Blackhawk Colorado. This was our first time at Colorado so to have it located at a deserted area was inconvenient.

Limited places to eat and cafe didn't open till 11 am. Desk staff seems shorthanded and not very friendly or helpful like they are annoyed at people checking into their hotel…gee sorry to bother y’all, maybe next time I’ll stay across the street.

This property is showing its age. Rooms are shabby and staff is indifferent. Food options are limited and little better than you would find in an airport kiosk. We had two rooms and asked for maid service. One room was cleaned and the other ignored. We had to send a food dish back from the restaurant because the meat had turned and smelled bad.

check-in was reasonably good, but a bit lengthy. Elevators were a pinch point. Sometimes their slowness caused an excessive crowd trying to get to their various destinations. Maybe you should dedicate one elevator to the parking garage, with the remainder dedicated to rooms. HVAC in rooms were less than satisfactory. With thermostat set on 65, the lowest the unit could achieve was 73-75. It was necessary to open the windows, which would then blow open in the almost nightly winds. Rooms themselves were great. Loved the shower. The video poker machines could be updated to newer ones, but the machines functioned properly. Only ran into a few with sticky buttons, or hold buttons that would automatically release, causing winning hands to be lost. The bar had great, modern machines with good pay tables. I checked in on a Wednesday and tried to order Blue Moon draft beer, but was told the keg could not be tapped properly. I tried again on my last night and still could not get a beer poured. I would go to the hand sanitizing stations to wash my hands after playing the machines and handling money, but many were empty, and were never refilled during my stay. There are only two restaurants, and they are not open early or late. The food and service is good. I flew into Denver and had an Uber reserved to take me to Black Hawk. But when I landed, Uber could not fulfill the reservation, and I had to wait around for over an hour until I realized they were not coming for me. Need other option

Overall the stay was good. Room was fare, could have used a microwave to heat up leftovers. Casino was nice, mostly was at horseshoe since it was larger. The buffet breakfast was not worth the 22$ at Roxy’s. Everything was basic items you could order anywhere else for 14$. AC worked good for the hot days. Staff was helpful! Access to other places was easy as well. Busses and a short walk make everything convenient

It could have been a little more friendly the only ones that were really friendly to me were the front desk and the cashier otherwise it was a nice day and you need to open up a buffet why is it none of you have opened up with the buffet except for the monitor you all used to have buffets and all those not anymore the food's too expensive you make tons of money on the gambling your food should be cheaper

Only real restaurant was so overpriced I would not go there. The cafe was brutally terrible food and staff abrupt. Serving staff could not speak English

Stay was great but a minus from 5 star to 4 because the Casinos don't have any affordable places to eat. There is no reason why a Cava, Chipotle, shouldn't be there. People will eat cause they must. It was annoying to have to drive to Denver for food other than ghe burger joints in the Casinos.
