This was a beautiful place to stay. Our room was number 19 and it was clean and comfortable. In the morning breakfast was served and it was delicious. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I know we are coming out of winter but the outside need to be upkeep at all times, first impression is everything. The only thing that I was not happy about was the 35 steps to get to our room, no elevator was an issue with us as I had a knee operation and it was so an inconvenience, need to make sure you disclosed that issue, besides that everything was great.

Nice little inn with parking available. Very good breakfast and friendly staff. Room is comfortable. Coffee/tea station available for guests. Loved that the bed had a blanket and quits --- instead of the ubiquitous too-hot duvet! Would like a squishier pillow though, but that's a personal preference.

Very nice property. Very clean rooms with period furnishing matching the history of the building. Breakfast was quite good with the exception of the crepes which were too doughy and undercooked for our liking. Unfortunately, neither the TV nor the air conditioner were working so our room was without entertainment and was uncomfortably warm. The street where the property is located is lovely, however, one may wish to exercise caution when walking in the later evening because only two blocks away at Rideau is the area crowded with many people shooting up. Other tan that, is was easy walking distance to many stores and eating establishments.

Excellent location, lovely building and fun decor, kind staff, excellent breakfast, comfy bed, excellent bathroom. Some quite serious issues with my room's AC. I reccommend the hotel provide fans and space heaters in the future, if the AC/Heating system is unable to function independenly in clients' rooms.

It was a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. We had difficulty trying to control the AC to a reasonably cooler temperature, it did not seem to work so the room was a little uncomfortable and stuffy, otherwise it was all very lovely.

The property is quaint and well taken care of. The breakfast was excellent and there is parking on site for $10. Best of all, if you are in reasonably good health (we're 78 and 79), it is within walking distance of major sites (Byward Market, National Gallery, Notre Dame Cathedral, Parliament buildings, etc.).

We were given room in the attachment to the building with separate entrance from parking lot. Felt like we are in the cheap motel. My husband and I are both tall, the ceiling in the room was low, felt very claustrofobic. There is no room cleanup during stay, no towel or sheets change. Window and shutters never been cleaned, gross. There is vacuum cleaner in the room, probably for guests to clean themselves. Dont understand what we paid for. The breakfast was the only inly good thing about this place.

The history of the in has been beautifully preserved and incorporated in the decor. Someone greeted me when I arrived and made sure I was checked in properly before showing me the free coffee/tea bar (love this) and my room. My room was clean and comfortable. I had a little trouble figuring out the tv but got it eventually. My room was in the annex on the first floor by the street. Some loud groups walked by twice during the night but other than that it was quiet.

I like McGee; stayed there several times, 4 stars. Only the weirdness with the TV settings a downer. But this time, I was in room 23, the annex; I'd stayed there before so I knew that it was different from the "themed" rooms. But this time, the fridge, right next the bed was very noisy. I unplugged. But there was a "chattering" sound, intermittent by the window I wasn't able to track down. Aaargh! Sounds trivial now, but when you're very tired and have an important meeting... So 2 stars to get the management's attention. Otherwise, this is a great place to stay.

Victorian Room, 4 nights. The room was spacious with king bed, reading chairs, the ante-room. The bed was firm but comfortable. The bathroom is small - no room for dancing. The large jetted double soaker tub is in the bedroom. The breakfast was excellent with several options available each morning. The location is great with walking distance to Byward Market and many local attractions. Nit-picks: When booking the website name the room "McGee" while the confirmation called it Victorian. Had trouble operating the TV with the remote; staff turned the TV on while we were out one day and we later figured out that the TV had to be turned on with the buttons on the right side. Making up of the room and emptying the garbage is only done if you request it.

Lovely heritage venue. A bit loud outside after dark. Third floor room 22 with enclosed balcony was nice (it’s also the fire escape for the entire floor). A little unusual having the washroom outside the bedroom, but you know that when you book. Delicious breakfast, very cool interior in the hallways and the rooms!

Beautiful property! Excellent rooms in a quiet neighbourhood. Host greeted us at the door and upgraded our room on this quiet night. It is a three story walk up but if you can do the stairs I can’t recommend a top floor room enough.

The McGee Inn is conveniently located. The house has a historic charm and is very comfortable. The breakfast choices, quality, and presentation were excellent. One minor disappointment was that the bathroom in my room could only be accessed from the corridor. This was very inconvenient. I believe that this unusual layout may only be associated with Room 14.

We were impressed with the character and cleanliness. We have been in old B&Bs which were decrepit. This one is beautifully clean and the breakfast was excellent. But when we arrived after dark, we asked where to eat and were not given directions. East then North in the direction of Byward Market is a mass of unfortunate humanity that did not make us feel safe. Also, parking in front was not available on the second night, but no one told us we could part at the rear of the building.

We stayed for 3 nights the staff is lovely, there is a lways someone on the premises. The room ,21, was large and the bathroom was clean and spacious. We had alittle trouble with the TV but we called down stairs and someone came right up to fix it. Breakfast was very tasty and easy parking on premises. It was in walking distance of all we were doing.

It's a lovely place, comfortable and quiet. It's small but very comfortable and clean. The Inn is 15 minutes' walking distance from downtown. It's affordable and very convenient.

Had a really great sleep - super comfortable bed and quiet with the window closed and black-out blinds. Breakfasts were great - bring you own container if you need to take it to go as that was not available. The only thing is the dodgey area it is in - well-located, but super sad with the drug and homeless problem everywhere. But that is just generally life in cities now I guess.

Very nice property. Very clean rooms with period furnishing matching the history of the building. Breakfast was quite good with the exception of the crepes which were too doughy and undercooked for our liking. Unfortunately, neither the TV nor the air conditioner were working so our room was without entertainment and was uncomfortably warm. The street where the property is located is lovely, however, one may wish to exercise caution when walking in the later evening because only two blocks away at Rideau is the area crowded with many people shooting up. Other tan that, is was easy walking distance to many stores and eating establishments.

Victorian Room, 4 nights. The room was spacious with king bed, reading chairs, the ante-room. The bed was firm but comfortable. The bathroom is small - no room for dancing. The large jetted double soaker tub is in the bedroom. The breakfast was excellent with several options available each morning. The location is great with walking distance to Byward Market and many local attractions. Nit-picks: When booking the website name the room "McGee" while the confirmation called it Victorian. Had trouble operating the TV with the remote; staff turned the TV on while we were out one day and we later figured out that the TV had to be turned on with the buttons on the right side. Making up of the room and emptying the garbage is only done if you request it.

Lovely restored 19th C. home, centrally located within walking distance of downtown sites (parliament, museums). Lots of restaurants to choose from nearby. Very nice breakfasts in beautiful dining room, filled with antiques. Needed a bit of dusting to clear cobwebs from light fixtures!

I'm often disappointed by refurbished older homes, but this was 5-star. Consistently even hot water in the shower, excellent air conditioning. Free street parking. 20 minute walk to Parliament Hill, 15 to ByWard Market. Full breakfast was pretty good, but not 'full English'. Rooms are all different and well appointed. Lots of quality period pieces.
