Handy location for me near Sawbridgeworth.

Terrible room and the shower was awful. Needs refurbishing.

From the moment you drive up the long, scenic fairway toward the grand white clubhouse, Manor of Groves Hotel looks like it’s set for a hole-in-one. Sadly, once you’re on the course, it quickly turns into a round you’d rather not score. The rooms? Ice-cold—more winter links than summer resort. Heating comes courtesy of a lonely electric wall unit that struggles to get out of the bunker. I imagine in summer it swings wildly the other way… a bit like a bad slice. Service was consistently below par. Staff interactions rarely got past a mumbled “morning” or a blunt “room number,” as if basic courtesy had been left back at the clubhouse. A major hazard sits at the gym-end corridor near room 202. The door doesn’t just close—it drives straight through the frame like an overhit tee shot, announcing every passerby. I reported it five times… and got about as much response as shouting “fore” into the wind. No fix, no feedback—just silence on the fairway. The gym itself is tired and crusty—less country club, more forgotten driving range. The hot tub had more sand than a bunker, though the steam room was one of the few clean strikes. The sauna, however, was out of play the entire stay, with members audibly frustrated—rightly so. Breakfast was… steady, but uninspired. One morning the cooked option simply vanished—no apology, no explanation, just quietly removed like a lost ball. Cleanliness was patchy: crumbs behind the toaster had clearly settle

Very disappointing stay . Room was of a poor standard. Outside corridors not been hoovered. Room cold and shower didn't work
