Great stay in a great country park. Good walks in the surrounding countryside and next to a golf course.

Brilliant room soo large and really comfy. Bed was enormous and very comfy with everything you could need except a fridge which is a shame but nothing to worry about. A beautiful view of lake and monument on the hill. The bathroom as the main room was enormous with a huge rolltop bath 2 basins a huge , powerful walkin shower and seperate toilet. We ate in the grill and had the shared steak platter and it was really tasty. All in all we had a great night in a beautiful room with a great view and ate fantastic food and enjoyed drinks in the bar. Loved it and will be back asap.

A lovely room and hotel would normally be enough but what made this special was an evening sat looking out over the lake an up to the folly. The restaurant made an easy enjoyable evening on site, fly by. Followed by coffee in the grounds. All perfect, price good and genuinely the largest fish and chips ever. Location perfect for touring or stopping over if heading North or South

Very quick and friendly check in. Very large room and all expected ammenities. Although there are a few areas which are showing a need to update overall experience was excellent. Bar and staff friendly and would highly recommend the stay.

it was a beautiful estate. Especially the access to the park for the kids and the duck pond. The service at breakfast was terrible. except the Sat morning. The woman who served us was very efficient and friendly. I didn't get a bill when checking out? so i didn't know what my finally bill was? I also rarely saw any staff. The bedding kept moving while i was asleep so ended up being not comfortable. I also saw a few marks on the corridor floor that hadn't been cleaned up my entire stay. The bar staff had been very accommodating and made the experience good.

Very enjoyable three night (Fri to Sun) long weekend stay. Lovely room with comfy bed and large bathroom. A slight criticism is that the maintenance was a bit lacking, e.g. broken power socket and loose toilet seat. Housekeeping was also not great, I gathered that this was because they were very busy with a wedding and a maid was off due ill due to a broken leg - stretching them to the limit. I enjoyed the breakfast - but the 10 am finish on the Sunday is a bit too early - I'm a late riser on a Sunday and love a Brunch! I wish we had had more time to walk around the lovely grounds. Overall, great value and recommended.

My partner and I stayed for 1 night at Hardwick Hall Hotel as we were attending a wake at the hotel marquee after the funeral of my mother. We were assigned room 411, advertised by the hotel as a premier double room at a cost of £144 for the night. Unfortunately we found the room to be substandard and, had we been staying for longer, would have asked to have been moved to another room. The maintenance of the room was poor to say the least, spot lights fitted in the bed and bathroom platform floors were loose and protruding from their fittings posing both an electrical and injury hazard to guests, the toilet seat was loose and a very poor repair of the toilet roll holder had been attempted using an electrical crimp fitting and a screw jammed to hold it in place, the shower control unit was also loose on the wall of the shower cubicle and the bedroom window would not stay open. It was obvious that the bathroom window had not been cleaned for some time, and the design of the bathroom was also questionable as there was no door between the bedroom and bathroom and the wall between the bedroom/bathroom was a glass panel with a shear black muslin curtain covering it that provided no privacy at all for any guest using the bathroom or shower. We reported these issues to the receptionist at checkout and have also emailed our concerns to the hotel. The hotel is a lovely building in amazing grounds but is in need of major maintenance and/or upgrade.

Had to call for help when the shower could not be turned off. Apparently, it was broken. Had a few spiders and cobwebs on the inside of each window. There were two long windows. Also had a big spider on the ceiling above the bed. The room was very small and neat. There were biscuits and milk laid out in the wardrobe for tea, but no tea bags, coffee or sugar. We spent one night. Staff were friendly.

We stay maybe once or twice a year and has always been faultless. However on this occasion we felt the room did not match what we thought we’d paid for (premier deluxe). We have stayed in much nicer rooms that aren’t as dated and small. The cleanliness of the room wasn’t on a par with what we’ve had in the past either. My husband pulled the sheet back to find dried blood stain on the mattress topper and the kettle and cups in the room were very dusty. Having said all this we will definitely return but will be requesting a different room in future. On a plus, we couldn’t fault the restaurant service and the food was fantastic as usual.

Room was very cold one wall was wet with damp

Hôtel rooms are somewhat dated and in need of an uplift. Our room was small and was very hot, no air-conditioning. Bar prices were relatively expensive for the area. Overall hotel is adequate for the purpose of staying on site.

The staff need a course in dealing with clients and treating them with a smile. They're not helpful. They seem to be here just for the job and not the customer. As a gold member of Expedia I thought I had the choice of upgrade .but the first room they put me in was a back room overlooking the roofs ?. On that day was a wedding .so this room not only had the fans going from the kitchen but later in the evening was a full blown disco going off right outside my bedroom window. At 9 45 pm I had to pack my bags and go to reception for a room exchange . I would have been better off sleeping in the car. This was a room I paid £100 per night for not including any meals.?. Get your lazy receptionists trained up.?

Lovely as always, lovely grounds, room, food. Beautiful views of the lake and nice to walk around. However, the old chap at breakfast snapped at our 13 year old son after he tried to take a plate that was being put in front of him. He was only trying to help and to be honest it was rude and unacceptable. Luckily my husband held his temper. He’s a good lad and didn’t deserve to be spoken to like that.

Lovely property, excellent staff. We did have a problem with our original room which had a rather strange smell, this was quickly dealt with by the front desk staff and we were relocated to another room which was lovely. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was delicious, service good and staff friendly. I would stay here again if I was in the area.

Very comfortable overnight business stay. Food and staff were great, but because it’s an old building, the decor could do with a bit of a touch up. Other than that, I had a great stay.

Had a fantastic 3 night stay over Christmas the room was large and spotless service was friendly and helpful The food in the grill house was superb and couldn’t be faulted My only complaint was Breakfast on Boxing Day was very poor so we didn’t bother the other 2 mornings we ate elsewhere Overall a excellent stay and we would certainly have no hesitation in returning

Our second stay here and was an another nice stay, staff were accommodating and helpful. Used the rib room restaurant for the first time this trip and enjoyed a really pleasant meal. Already booked again for November, but trying their Premier Room next time for comparison with their deluxe room.
