Super spa. Friendly staff. Great location opposite NT Clumber Park, which is ideal for wallking, running or cycling. Main airy restaurant only used for breakfast. Coffee bar-cafe is used for other meals. That area is vey 'tired'. Smoking station is AT the front entrance and at the door to the quadrangle - along with a bucket and adjacent area of cigarette butts. Unpleasant.

Nice hotel with very pleasant staff. Some internal building work being carried out so some dust about. Roof of pool needs a little attention. Massive bed in spacious room. Decent quality breakfast. Will definitely revisit.

Rooms at the front can be quite noisy with road traffic when its warm and you needvto open windows as no air con. Gym and spa are spacious and usesble. Breakfast is substantial and good food in the bar. Excellent location to walk or ride to explore clumver parklands.

There was lots of parking available. Check in was easy and the receptionist was very helpful in pointing out where our room could be found and where the spa could be accessed near our room. Having three single beds in one room is a really good idea for three adults to share - I went with my two daughters and none of us wanted to share a double bed so three singles in a room was exactly what we needed. The pool area was nice but some of the chairs were broken and the ceiling could do with painting as it was flaking of. The restaurant was lovely and so was the food. Check out at 11 instead of 10 like most places was a real bonus so we could have a lie in following the wedding we attended.

The restaurant food was poor and expensive, was charged for food we didn't order. The hotel is clean but in poor condition. The cardio machines in the gym were broken.

Overall it was 'fine'. Spa element really lets the place down though. Peeling paint, missing tiles, dead insects in steam room, showers missing heads, dripping taps....repair bodges on top of previous repair bodges (old rotting drill holes in shower wall where previous soap tray was, next to the new one if that makes sense). Girl on the gym desk was sick of her life, barely looked up from her phone when I came in. At check-in, girl asked if I wanted to dine, I said no she replied "good 'cause we probably didn't have any space anyway". When I returned from my meal elsewhere, tried for drink at bar, waited over 10 minutes with no staff in sight so gave up and went to bed. Breakfast was OK, nobody there to greet me so just helped myself and left. Overall it's 'fine' for somewhere to sleep and leave, probably a nice hotel 10 years ago...reeks of someone buying it and spending very little on upgrading/ maintaining and essentially just putting sticking plasters over anything that crops up. I'd never come here for leisure/ relaxation with the wife, keep driving another 10 mins for the next place!

Poor. Scruffy & battered doors, corridors & room. Plastic over the carpeting in a main corridor for no obvious reason. Lift out of order - which happens but it hadn’t been fixed since I last visited in early May. Steam room - a spa treat I’d been looking forward to - was out of order. Went to the bar - no Sauvignon blanc in stock, no Pinot Grigio in stock - had a pretty mediocre wine. Despite the hotel being obviously half empty we were placed in a room by the busy road - loud traffic if we opened the window, uncomfortably hot with it closed. Breakfast was ok but served with a hash brown that was do overcooked it crumbled into little pieces. This was swapped by the lovely waitress but the cook should never have served it up. I spoke to the receptionist about her speaking to the manager about the issues but she said I had to send an email. I said I’d rather discuss in person. Staff were nice, hence the 2 stars. I’d visited in May with friends - it was cheap & cheerful then but so many issues this time I do not recommend. Will be formally complaining in writing.

The food was excellent. The swimming pool and its facilities were excellent. Service was friendly. Good value for our 3 night stay. Very pleasant rooms, both bedroom and general hotel rooms. Only one point for improvement- the shower in room 29 needs upgrading.

Polite and efficient check in and lovely manager but the rest of the staff seemed vague and lacked training. No idea what a soda and lime was. Room roasting on a hot night. Had to have window open which meant we heard all the traffic outside.Had to have fan running all night. Food not fantastic and over priced. At breakfast, a female shouted ' apparently the bride wants fresh fruit..have we got any?'..not very professional. A gardener, painter and cleaner could definitely improve what might have been a nice place to stay. Pillow A bit smelly .A positive..very well stocked room with nice, branded coffee, tea and biscuits.

Overall our stay was good. The pool was lovely and warm and quiet. The breakfast was nice and the lady who served us breakfast was lovely. The evening meal was nice too. But we were really disappointed by the cleanliness of our room, we found half eaten biscuits down the back of the bed, a half eaten open packet of biscuits in one of the coffee cups, the carpet which my 7 month old was crawling appeared to have not been hoovered at all and my 7 year old daughter found a photo that had been taken in that room a year ago, down besides her bed. We raised our concerns with a manager who said she would email me, over a week on and I’ve not heard anything. Very disappointing. Unfortunately due to the concerns above we will not choose to stay here again.

We recently stayed at the Muthu Clumber Hotel and found the experience to be mixed. On a positive note, the check-in process was smooth, with the receptionist being both polite and helpful. The room was clean, and the housekeeping staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was adequate given the volume of guests, and it was evident that the majority of staff work extremely hard to provide a good service. Unfortunately, a few things impacted the overall stay. On arrival, we found and had to remove eight spiders from the room, which was particularly difficult as our child suffers from high anxiety around insects. In addition, the fire alarm sounded at 2:30am due to a false alarm, which understandably disturbed our rest and added to an unsettled night. Most concerning was the conduct of the restaurant manager when attempting to book dinner, she was abrupt, dismissive and discourteous. Such unprofessionalism is particularly disappointing within the hospitality industry, where courteous service is fundamental. We did give benefit of doubt and considered a night cap but was put off by the same member of staff. As a result, we chose to dine elsewhere and enjoyed an excellent experience, which highlighted the contrast. In summary, while many of the staff work very hard and the hotel has positive aspects, the issues experienced put us off returning here.

All the staff were friendly and professional. The room was a refurbished one and it was lovely and clean. The pool was fabulous and warm, also there was a nice scent to it. I had a refreshing facial with Amanda, who was excellent and gave me some much-needed advice. The hotel is in need of some renovation, however it looks like that's already in progress. It cant all be done at once, it's not a criticism as I saw on some of the reviews. They are doing their best. On the Sunday night, I didnt enjoy my meal much. The salad wasnt very nice and the flatbread was hard. On the Monday night there was a long wait as hotel very busy, and not enough staff on. Those who were, however, were very friendly and professional. The dessert was a hot one, yet the custard not very warm. On the whole, I loved it. It was quiet and peaceful. I spent some time in the garden. The room and bed were comfy. All areas were tastefully and cosily decorated/furnished. I wanted to stay another night, mainly to enjoy more spa time & peace. But unfortunately I wasnt too well so had to go home. I do hope to return another time though. I was by myself yet I felt properly looked after by all the staff, so i didnt feel alone. A big thanks to everyone and I definitely recommend this place.

I have been here before - in the summer. It is well placed for Clumber Park walks and cycling. It has a very good Pool. The staff are very friendly. BUT this time my room was further away from Reception and the corridor carpets were VERY grubby and damp. The bedroom looked very tired and the radiator did not work - even after reporting it.

To start with we was staying for my bestfriends wedding her room had been upgraded for the wedding not really sure what got upgraded there was dust all over the brochures on the side in both rooms 17 & 23 I stayed in. The cleanliness for £112 a night was not up to standard , the breakfast service was chaos! Cold food then waiting ages for new fresh food.

Room was clean but in need of a revamp. Carpet in hall was riding up and in need of replacing. Inside the room, it was comfortable enough, but furniture was very old and rickety and just needs updating. Small areas where paint is peeling or damaged. Overall, for the price, it’s hard to complain, but a major refurb is required for this to be a 4* hotel which is advertised.

I can't fault the spa area. We used the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi and left feeling very relaxed. Unfortunately, the hotel rooms were quite poor in comparison. We paid for the superior rooms but the carpet was completely threadbare in places, the phone in the room didn't work, we couldn't get a wifi reception and there was no water in the room when we arrived. With the exception of the reception area, the communal area were all looking a little tired and knocked about. The food in the restaurant was limited, with no healthy option, but the portions were good and the food was tasty.

Standard room was very dated, bed was small didn’t even seem a double, duvet thin was so disappointed with room we upgraded, at our expense, better interior and bed but bed was on wheels , with no canisters so it moved very annoying, room had been refurbished, but bathroom still needed updating, carpets throughout need to be replaced, overhaul disappointed

A bit disappointing when we arrived and found the “kingsize” bed was 2 singles pushed together and the mattresses were different (one hard, one soft) and there was no fridge in the room when it was advertised with one. The receptionist was great though and gave us a different room (still 2 single beds but the mattresses matched) and she physically carried a fridge from another room to ours. The rest of the stay was spot on. Quiet, relaxing, good food and all the staff were amazing. Thank you for a great weekend

The hotel is convenient off main road but very dated and run down, no plug sockets by the bed only usb/plug on the opposite side of room. No light switches by the bed, these where above the headboard in the middle so had to kneel on bed to reach. was meant to have king size bed but was two beds put together unfortunately they where different heights so a definite lump down the middle. Breakfast was decidedly average for the cost only 1 sausage 2 bit s of bacon and a very small pot of beans and very runny scrambled egg. Lots of cracked tiles in the bathroom. Overall a disappointing visit, but suppose that's what you expect when you book on the day.

The welcome at reception was very nice, because we were on an overnight stop, we just want a sleepover. The room very basic, and bathroom left a lot to be desired, just enough toilet roll for 2 visits!! Towel rail hanging off the wall, an over bath shower that just wet the whole floor. 4 star facilities definitely not, would I return definitely not and I would not recommend. We didn’t bother with breakfast just got in the car and carried on with our trip,

Overall it was a lovely stay. The room had recently been refurbished and there were a couple of small issues- missing remote control, broken hairdryer, issue with the toilet- however the staff sorted these straight away and all the staff could not do enough to help. They were all friendly and polite.

We recently stayed at the Muthu Clumber Hotel and found the experience to be mixed. On a positive note, the check-in process was smooth, with the receptionist being both polite and helpful. The room was clean, and the housekeeping staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was adequate given the volume of guests, and it was evident that the majority of staff work extremely hard to provide a good service. Unfortunately, a few things impacted the overall stay. On arrival, we found and had to remove eight spiders from the room, which was particularly difficult as our child suffers from high anxiety around insects. In addition, the fire alarm sounded at 2:30am due to a false alarm, which understandably disturbed our rest and added to an unsettled night. Most concerning was the conduct of the restaurant manager when attempting to book dinner, she was abrupt, dismissive and discourteous. Such unprofessionalism is particularly disappointing within the hospitality industry, where courteous service is fundamental. We did give benefit of doubt and considered a night cap but was put off by the same member of staff. As a result, we chose to dine elsewhere and enjoyed an excellent experience, which highlighted the contrast. In summary, while many of the staff work very hard and the hotel has positive aspects, the issues experienced put us off returning here.

Arrived and was given a room down a corridor where building works were. Being allergic to paint fumes was a great start to the stay. In the room the previous resident had left a dirty sock on the floor, so this left their cleaning routine in question. The bar closed at 11pm on a Saturday night, after a night out, we were just able to get to the bar for one drink before it closed. We were informed the gym and pool would be open at 8am every morning. So we woke to get to the gym before breakfast. The staff turned up late and it didn’t open until 8.30am. This messed up our schedule for the day. No apology was given. We then went to breakfast, I enjoy a latte in the morning, and other than normal coffee no other drink facilities were available. We went to Costa coffee afterwards a few miles from the hotel. On checkout both myself and another room told the stuck up madam that was on reception of the issues we had with our stay. She gave both of us the brush-off and showed zero interest in our issues. I was planning another trip in the new year, but won’t be returning to this hotel again. If the staff would’ve shown the slightest bit of interest in my issues I would’ve been able to get over the things that went wrong, but as they don’t care, I’m happy to review this hotel to let others know to stay away. The Warner hotel or Dukeries hotel close by would be a suitable alternative.

10/10 would not recommend. At 2:30 in the morning, a group of drunken individuals caused chaos in the hallway for over an hour, waking up the entire floor. There was no staff present to handle the situation, and we didn't have a phone to call reception. One of the guests vomited just outside our room, and even after informing the staff, they did not clean it up (and was still there by the time we checked out). While I understand that this may have been a one-time occurrence, the lack of attention from the staff and the overall uncleanliness of the hotel made our stay very unpleasant.

You can see they are renovating areas with carpets and paint so would be keen to return once this is done. It was clean and comfortable. Nice touches in the room with tea, coffee and biscuits. Definitely worth the price. The spa access is an added bonus! The perfect base for anyone exploring Sherwood Forest, just 15 mins drive away, Clumber Park National Forest is also across the road and worth exploring.

The reception staff were excellent and very friendly. The lady serving in the Restaurant and bar again was very pleasant and friendly. My food was lovely and delivered by the Chef with an apology for taking so long. However it didn't seem to take long at all.

Overall it was 'fine'. Spa element really lets the place down though. Peeling paint, missing tiles, dead insects in steam room, showers missing heads, dripping taps....repair bodges on top of previous repair bodges (old rotting drill holes in shower wall where previous soap tray was, next to the new one if that makes sense). Girl on the gym desk was sick of her life, barely looked up from her phone when I came in. At check-in, girl asked if I wanted to dine, I said no she replied "good 'cause we probably didn't have any space anyway". When I returned from my meal elsewhere, tried for drink at bar, waited over 10 minutes with no staff in sight so gave up and went to bed. Breakfast was OK, nobody there to greet me so just helped myself and left. Overall it's 'fine' for somewhere to sleep and leave, probably a nice hotel 10 years ago...reeks of someone buying it and spending very little on upgrading/ maintaining and essentially just putting sticking plasters over anything that crops up. I'd never come here for leisure/ relaxation with the wife, keep driving another 10 mins for the next place!

The food was excellent. The swimming pool and its facilities were excellent. Service was friendly. Good value for our 3 night stay. Very pleasant rooms, both bedroom and general hotel rooms. Only one point for improvement- the shower in room 29 needs upgrading.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the accommodation was clean and comfortable. The room could be spruced up a bit, but I have no complaints. The hotel location was good however the mobile telephone signal in the area is very poor.

Check in was quick and reception was clean and tidy. On the way to our room evidence of refurbishment was ongoing with carpets covered and painting in progress. Booked evening meal for 7pm, starter arrived at 8pm, kitchen issues maybe. Main course was going great until what I can only describe as,crunching on broken glass/sand. Manager offered a refund on my meal. He apologised both on the evening and again in the morning reiterating the bill would be reduced. This didn’t happen as we’d already paid for half board. The breakfast was superb with tea, coffee, juices and lots of choice, hot and cold. A great location for access to Clumber Park. Overall disappointing and would not rush back.

All the staff were friendly and professional. The room was a refurbished one and it was lovely and clean. The pool was fabulous and warm, also there was a nice scent to it. I had a refreshing facial with Amanda, who was excellent and gave me some much-needed advice. The hotel is in need of some renovation, however it looks like that's already in progress. It cant all be done at once, it's not a criticism as I saw on some of the reviews. They are doing their best. On the Sunday night, I didnt enjoy my meal much. The salad wasnt very nice and the flatbread was hard. On the Monday night there was a long wait as hotel very busy, and not enough staff on. Those who were, however, were very friendly and professional. The dessert was a hot one, yet the custard not very warm. On the whole, I loved it. It was quiet and peaceful. I spent some time in the garden. The room and bed were comfy. All areas were tastefully and cosily decorated/furnished. I wanted to stay another night, mainly to enjoy more spa time & peace. But unfortunately I wasnt too well so had to go home. I do hope to return another time though. I was by myself yet I felt properly looked after by all the staff, so i didnt feel alone. A big thanks to everyone and I definitely recommend this place.

Property was under renovation but we were not told. The room we had was an old dilapidated room. Housekeeping was poor not replenishing toilet rolls or water during the stay. Towels are tiny and few. Bed is hard as a rock and I couldn’t sleep in it. Actually checked out a day early due to how uncomfortable it was. Dinner was awful and we couldn’t eat one of the meals the main and dessert was left hardly touched. Vile. Breakfast worst we have ever had. No plates no eggs exept cold scrambled no hash brown no yogurt all 3 fruit juice empty no milk jugs bacon qood quality but undercooked sausages good quality but looked anemic. The whole breakfast was luke warm and dryed up

The food was excellent. The swimming pool and its facilities were excellent. Service was friendly. Good value for our 3 night stay. Very pleasant rooms, both bedroom and general hotel rooms. Only one point for improvement- the shower in room 29 needs upgrading.

The staff were excellent. Room was spacious. Property was nice. Sauna, pool, changing area clean and nice. Loved everything and will stay again though i was really disappointed with the hot breakfast and would like to see it cooked fresh if possible. Good choice of cereal and juice.

Having been here previously many times, this was always my favourite spa and was looking forward to going back. Unfortunately it has gone downhill. We arrived at the hotel at approximately 1pm, went to check in and was told we couldn't check in until 3pm so we went to have lunch. We ordered the ALT (Avocado, Lettuce, Tomato) baguette which was advertised as vegan due to those being the only ingredients. When it came it also had cheese in it - I'm not vegan so I didn't mind but if I was vegan this would have been very bad. Wanting to use the facilities we asked what room we would be in, so we could see how close it was to the spa area (we like being close so we don't have to walk around the entire hotel in our towels and dressing gowns). We were told what room we would be in but told we were not allowed to use the facilities until we've checked in. When we booked this, we enquired about spa treatments and were told to go to the spa area when we arrived to book them so that's where we went next. We asked for treatments and were told there were none available that day but may be available the following day. We picked our treatments, told the time of 10am and they took our phone number so they could confirm with us later. At this point we asked if we could use the pool while we waited for our room to be ready and they agreed as we knew our room number. On previous visits there was an outdoor hot tub and when we looked, this was closed. On entering the pool it was stone cold,

Very run down property - torn carpets, non draining sinks, scruffy wallpaper - could be a good building if some money was spent on it. No lifts and it’s like walking around a maze (many times!) to find the rooms. Food service was very short hours and late start due to a wedding in the function room. No room service so had to go out and find something. Bar service was slow due to only 1 member of staff doing everything as everyone else doing the wedding! Only thing that was quick was closing down the bar before 11pm. Rooms were a good size and bathrooms clean but nothing in the dispensers for shower gel or shampoo and sinks and baths emptied really slowly. Rooms weren’t serviced even though we were staying multiple nights and no signs saying that this would have to be requested so idea why they weren’t. Spa is good, staff friendly and pool a good size. Breakfast was ok, self service but warm and good choice. Overall - if you want a hotel to spend a few days relaxing in comfort, don’t choose this hotel. If you only need a bed for the night and don’t care about much else, it’s fine

In 2026 paying more than £100 a night, I don't think its too much to expect consistent WiFi in your room and leisure facilities that open before 8am !! Fire Alarm at 6am didn't help but can happen anywhere.
