I stayed for one night at Rowton Hall and had a lovely stay. The hotel itself is beautifully presented and the gardens were the icing on the cake! The room was comfortable and spacious with all the necessary amenities. The pool area is clean and has a lovely modern, spa feel. A great stay and will return!

A nice hotel, quiet and friendly staff. Spa facilities very good.

Despite the fact our room overlooked some industrial equipment it didn't take away from it being a nice room. The freezing temperature of the swimming pool was very disappointing. However the food more than made up for it. Overall it was a very nice stay.

An excellent hotel with wonderful leisure facilities. The service from the staff in the bar was top rate. We were able to charge our electric car overnight. A relaxing and comfortable stay.

Good size carpark Warm friendly check in, all information given. Stairs to the room took a while to find because I didn't see the sign! Once in a little compact to move about in, shower room was ok. Bed was super comfortable WiFi ok The shower was good Breakfast is not included but can be added if wanted. Evening meal was good Reasonable price and good choices on the menu. Hotel has some lovely gardens set around it . The location is on the outskirts of the city but there are some lovely walks close by. Would stay again if in the area.

Lovely hotel and spa however a bill put through your door with a surcharge is not excepted when you already left money for tips to staff anyway, also the whole stay the swimming pool heater wasn’t working and the sauna. Hotel is lovely though

Lovely grounds and lovely looking hotel, excellent staff. But the rooms are old fashioned and need brining into the 21st centry. Spa is dirty, sauna was not working, swimming pool room and changing rooms are cold. Everything needs a deep clean.

Everything was fine, breakfast really good. Pool area very good.

It was nice don't get me wrong but it did appear to be a bit run down aesthetically. Stains on carpets and walls and I think the place just needs a bit of TLC to be honest. I don't think it would win 4 in a bed if you get me haha the room I did notice quite a few bits that could of been cleaned a bit better and the tv didn't connect to the internet properly so we couldn't watch things without hotspotting my phone to it which was a tad annoying. but overall we enjoyed it and the bed was super comfy!

Booked for a romantic stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This should be a 4* hotel at best i would stay at best 2*. This is due to the very poor condition of the room (room 109). I paid £200 for a Master Suite for 1 night stay. While the room looked nice at a 1st glance there were some major issues, Damp on the walls, Mould in the bathroom around the shower, Damaged shower screen and shower, Mould above the window in the bedroom, Broken window openings, Cracked window, Stained carpets, Several mirror units which have been damaged and either taped over or chipped, Bed this has been repaired in 2 different areas (opposite corners) and have not been repaired correctly meaning the bed had a diagonal twist in it YOU DONT EXPECT THIS FROM A 4* HOTEL. Before I arrived i was asked if I wanted to upgrade my room and name my price for the upgrade. The following morning at checkout I went to settle my account and also asked when is the room due to be refurbished and the receptionist was aware of most of the problems What concerns me is they knew about the problems and still put me in there. The breakfast is extremely over priced and you have to ask for things such as butter for the toast, where are the pastries, additional apple juice as it was empty. I waited in bar area for an hour wanting a coffee while my mife was having a massage (something she did enjoy) and when she returned i had to go to the reception to ask is anyone serving drinks, another 30mins

The member of staff that checked us in and out was rude abrupt and miserable and offered limited help and assistance. The room linen and towels were clean but the glasses had clearly not be washed from last guest. You could see where they had just been wiped around the mouth piece! The bath was grubby and greasy. Neither of us wanted to use it. The pool area wasn’t warm enough to sit on the loungers and there were used paper water cups all around the pool and also in the sauna and steam room. So I presume the pool area isn’t monitored or regularly checked. Would have mentioned a few of these things at checkout had the receptionist asked about our stay!!!

Characterful hotel with lovely spa & gym facilities. The hotel is a bit dated and in need of some referbishments. Our original assigned room was not made up when we got up to it and had to go back to reception. This seemed like a complete shock to the person on reception but the dirty linens were still on the floor, the un-made duvet and pillows were thrown on the bed and there was rubbish and used items from the tea set about the room. After the receptionist made a few quick phone calls we were assigned a new room. The new room was large with a huge bathroom including a shower and separate bathtub. There were signs of wear about the room, marks on the walls, etc.... but we had a lovely stay and it was comfortable.

Bedroom was a bit tired, curtains hanging off the rails and some damp stain and wallpaper coming away in the corners, a bulb out on arrival in the room. Obviously housekeeping manager not checking rooms after they have been serviced. Great bar, restaurant and spa staff. coming down for breakfast at the later time of 9.30am, appeared to be a lack of replenishment of the breakfast area, no pastries, chopped fruit bowl empty, orange juice ran out.

Hotel was very old and tired needs a re decoration .The room was a superior room which had cobwebs on the inside of the windows and a leaking drainpipe outside .Because it was raining it was like a runnng tap all night bouncing off the window ledge .Then the food I ordered was cod @ £23 when it come it literally was a piece of cod in a bowl nothing else .Breakfast was paid for as part of the stay but if you want a full English it is an extra £5 never have I seen this before overall poor experience and will not stay again .

Pool was nice. The room we stayed in was very tired, curtains were covered in dust, furniture was old and damaged and it just wasn’t well maintained.

This is our second stay at Rowton Hall in their lovely apartment, huge bed, huge bath and the living space is also enormous and very comfortable…we will be back!

Whilst the pictures show more modern rooms, the room we had was very dated. Curtains were old, cheap and hanging off, the blind was broken. The bathrooms had really old units that had laminate peeling off and mold in the sealant and grout. The bed was big though and comfortable which was a plus and the size of the room was nice. When we checked in we asked if we had a room in a quiet area which we were basically told no. There was a wedding on and we’d been put directly above it but it was full the second night so I assume they couldn’t move us. The receptionist exacts words ‘you’ll hear the wedding but don’t worry it does stop at 12am’. So we endured loud music and shouting and the smell of smoke until after 12am. The walls are super thin and on the second night our neighbours returned slamming the doors, having an argument and putting their t.v on loud. We could even hear them snoring. Basically I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you want a quiet peaceful night sleep as the hotel is old so noise will travel and weddings will disturb you. We had a drink in the bar one night and dinner in the restaurant. Drinks are limited and they don’t do moctails or seem to have a proper cocktail menu. There didn’t seem to be enough staff on and dinner took a long time and sadly wasn’t worth the wait or price. I’d recommend going into Chester instead. Breakfast was fine but you do have to pay extra if you want a full English.

Rooms are a bit tired but a nice place overall Tv did not work

Setting is lovely, facilities are great and staff were excellent, however room was a let down. Windows looked on to a roof with extractor fans, which were very noisy. Old building, so no air on. Room was super stuffy, so much so it was really difficult to sleep. A fan was provided but this made an awful noise, which made it even more difficult to sleep.

I called reception at 22:30 to ask if they could manage it at all. They said it was finishing soon. It finished finally two hours later at around 0:30. • checking out they tried to charge me for the room for a second time. They also added two breakfasts to my bill that I hadn’t had and disputed this with me when I tried to get them taken off the bill.

Old style property. A different style than the modern hotels purpose built. Bed was comfortable and room good size.

Room was small and very warm - we couldn't open a window so we had trouble sleeping at night because of the lack of air. There was no lift so we had to trudge our heavy cases up two flights of stairs. Bathroom light was outside the bathroom behind the door which was inconvenient and rather annoying.

Rowton Hall is set in a quiet area within some lovely grounds. The rooms are spacious but very hot and uncomfortable due to the temperature. Little ventilation due to the windows only being able to open slightly. There was no airconditioning only a fan. The hot water in the bathroom was boiling hot and care had to be taken when using it. My kettle didnt work in my room which I didnt discover until the morning. The veiw from my window was awful. The hotel needs some updating especially in the corridors leading to the rooms. I was looking forward to my stay but overall I was dissapointed with my room.

Parking was nightmare. Had to park in the dark, muddy, wet car park and walk to the reception getting covered in mud. Went for a drink in the bar and the girl who didnt speak very good english had the personality of a dead fish. Then when we tried to sleep the room was boiling and the windows didn't open so had an awful nights sleep. Breakfast took ages and we had to watch a group be sat, served and fed before ours turned up. Won't be back but it wasn't a bad hotel.

The team are great, friendly and engaging. Breakfast lady and check in last in particular warm and engaging. Evening meal - food was great.

Me and my wife booked to stay to celebrate her birthday and was planning on having dinner but then to be told at check in that the restaurant was fully booked with events. This should have been communicated better before we booked and information on the website or via hotels.com. Check in staff didn’t care and were rude! Told us to have bar food room service! Ended up with an uber eats! Not happy and will not be staying there again! Service at breakfast was slow and food cold given the cook food fresh and charge an over £20!

Overall good experience spoilt by food order not reaching the kitchen leading to a 40 minute Waite till I raised concern. Offers a refund in cash. Called back at the room by the management to be informed that due to T&Cs I would have to return the cash and accept a card refund. No a good experience. This was the 3rd food order not to be received over 3 stays.

Very comfortable rooms and quiet, ideal for our short visit to relatives in adjoining Waverton.

Country charm and period interior. Close to Chester’s but retains a country location.

It’s in a gorgeous hamlet out of town. The park and ride is handy but if you want to use public transport it’s not so handy. Receptionist says it was a 10 minute walk to the park and ride where you can hop on a cheap bus into Chester, but it’s a much longer trek than that, even for fast walkers like us. Bed is hard and uncomfortable. It’s an old place so the plumbing is noisy. Room overlooks a derelict space, which is a shame.

Fantastic location and beautiful surroundings. Well manicured gardens. Friendly and professional staff. Very comfortable room with super bed and firm pillows. Just needs some black out blinds!

Very pleasant stay for a midweek break. The house is quite old, so expect creaky stairs, wood panelling and sash windows - all adds to the charm. Service was incredibly friendly and welcoming, would not hesitate to stay again. Easy access to the city centre.

We had a lovely spacious bedroom and bathroom. The location of the hotel was great as it was in a quiet area with lovely gardens and parking.

We Stayed at the weekend, on check in we wasn’t given the garden view room that we paid for. They had a private party at the hotel, not a problem we don’t mind music. But when other guests arrive back to their room at 1am shouting down the corridors and you can hear every word they say because the walls are paper thin! Then yes I have a problem. We hardly slept and had a long journey home the next day. At Breakfast I ordered a bacon cob when it arrived I had a sausage cob and the waitress made a scene instead of just excepting she made a mistake, so I just excepted the sausage even though it wasnt what I ordered. Overall I wouldn’t stay here again.

Great quality food and reasonably priced and served by friendly staff.

Had 2 superior rooms both of which were very tired with marks etc and not 4* in standard, no a/c either. The corridors were also showing signs of being worn out. Spa area was the same and cushions all marked. Breakfast needs to be pre-booked for time slots and complimentary free hot options are limited. £5 supplement charge for a full English. Venue also hosts a lot of wedding so be prepared for that. Overall I’d say the hotel is 3 star in reality
